⁷ neither, because they are Abraham's seed, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

¹² And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy handmaid; in all that Sarah saith unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

²⁴ And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted, and thou art in anguish.

³⁰ And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent.

³³ They answered unto him, We are Abraham's seed, and have never yet been in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

³⁷ I know that ye are Abraham's seed: yet ye seek to kill me, because my word hath not free course in you. ³⁸ I speak the things which I have seen with [my] Father: and ye also do the things which ye heard from [your] father.} ³⁹ They answered and said unto him, Our father is Abraham. Jesus saith unto them, { If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

²³ Howbeit the [son] by the handmaid is born after the flesh; but the [son] by the freewoman [is born] through promise.

³ for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:
