¹¹ But you, man of God, run from these things [See verses 3-10], and pursue right living and godliness, having faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.

¹⁹ So then, let us pursue such things that produce peace and things that build one another up [spiritually].

¹⁸ Stay away from [any involvement in] sexual immorality. Every sin a person commits is outside [the realm] of his body; but the one who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. [Note: Possibly this means that sex, because it requires the deepest and most complete commitment of human involvement, becomes a unique sin when its true purpose and expression are violated].

¹⁴ Therefore, my dearly loved ones, run away from idol worship.

¹ You should make loving [others] your aim, yet eagerly desire [to possess] spiritual gifts, and especially [the gift of] prophecy.

²² But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness and self-control. There can be no law against [practicing] these things.

⁸ Finally, brothers, give [careful] thought to these things: Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovable, whatever is commendable. If it is excellent; if it is praiseworthy; [think about it]. ⁹ You people should do those things which you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, and [then] the God [who gives] peace will be with you.

¹² Do not allow anyone to look down on you because you are [so] young, but you should be an example to those who believe [in Christ] in your speech, in your conduct, in your love, in your faith [and] in your purity.

¹⁰ having a reputation for doing good deeds, [such as] bringing up children, showing hospitality to strangers, washing the feet of the saints [i.e., God’s holy people], assisting people in trouble and devoting herself to doing all [other] kinds of good deeds.

²⁰ [So], Timothy, guard [the Gospel message] which has been entrusted to you, while avoiding worldly, empty chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called “knowledge,”

²² But run from the evil desires of youth and pursue [the practice of] right living, faith, love and peace, along with those people who call on the Lord [i.e., in prayer] from a pure heart.

¹⁷ so that the man of God will be thoroughly equipped for [doing] every good deed.

¹¹ For God’s unearned favor has appeared, bringing salvation to all people [i.e., in the coming of Christ]. ¹² It instructs us to give up ungodly living and worldly desires and to live sensible, righteous and godly lives in this present age,

¹⁴ Actively seek to live in peace with all people. And be dedicated to God, because no one will see God without this.

¹¹ He should turn away from wrong living and do what is good. He should desire peace and do whatever it takes to maintain it.

⁵ And for this very reason, you people should make every effort to develop goodness along with your faith, ⁶ and knowledge along with your goodness, and self-control along with your knowledge, and endurance along with your self-control, and godliness along with your endurance, ⁷ and brotherly kindness along with your godliness, and with your brotherly kindness, develop love.
