⁵ overthrowing reasonings and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and leading captive every thought to the obedience of the Christ,

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. ³⁰ For my yoke is easy, and my bur den is light.

¹⁹ For from the heart come evil reasonings, murders, adulteries, lewd actions, thefts, false testimonies, impious words.

⁵¹ He has done mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in the understanding of their hearts.

²⁵ Why did the heathen rage, and the people devise vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the land stood up, and the rulers met together against the Lord and against his anointed.

⁴ And when he had fallen to the earth, he heard a voice saying to him: Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? ⁵ He answered: "Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said: I am Jesus, whom you persecute. ⁶ But rise, and go into the city, and it shall be told you what you must do.

⁵ through whom we have received grace and apostleship, in order to the obedience of faith among all nations, for the honor of his name,

²¹ because, when they knew God, they did not glorify him as God, nor were they thankful; but they became perverse in their reasonings, and their wicked heart was darkened;

²³ but I perceive another law in my members, at war with the law of my mind, and making me a captive to the law of sin, which is in my members.

²⁶ but is now made manifest, and through the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, made known among all nations for the obedience of faith,

¹⁹ For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; and I will set aside the understanding of the prudent.

²⁷ but God has chosen the foolish things of the world, that he may bring to shame the wise; and the weak things of the world has God chosen, that he may put to shame the strong; ²⁸ and the ignoble things of the world, and the things that are despised, has God chosen, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought things that are; ²⁹ that no flesh should glory in his presence.

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God; for it is written: He takes the wise in their own craftiness.

¹³ (since through the proof which this service gives, they glorify God for your acknowledged subjection to the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of your contribution for them, and for all;)

⁴ though, indeed, I have a ground of confidence in the flesh. If any other thinks he has a ground of confidence in the flesh, I more; ⁵ circumcised the eighth day, of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; as it respects law, a Pharisee; ⁶ as it respects zeal, persecuting the church; as it respects righteousness which is by law, blameless. ⁷ But the things which were gain to me, these I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Yes, verily, I also count all things to be loss, for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, on account of whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them to be refuse, that I may gain Christ, ⁹ and be found in him, not having my own righteousness which was by law, but the righteousness which is by faith in Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith,

⁴ who opposes and exalts himself above every one that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, openly showing him self that he is God.

⁸ and then shall that lawless one be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will destroy by the spirit of his mouth, and will utterly over throw by the brightness of his coming:

¹² For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, and pierces even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

⁹ and, having been made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation to all that obey him,

² elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctification of the Spirit, in order to obedience, and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: grace be to you, and peace be multiplied.

¹⁴ as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the desires which you formerly had in your ignorance; ¹⁵ but as he who has called you is holy, so be you holy in all your behavior:

²² Having purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit, to unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another with a pure heart fervently,
