²¹ And he began to say to them: This scripture which you have heard, is this day fulfilled.

¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the prophesy of Isaiah, which says: You shall surely hear, and you will not understand; and you shall surely see, and you will not perceive.

²³ And he turned to his disciples, and said privately: Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. ²⁴ For I say to you, that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear.

²⁵ The woman said to him: I know that Messiah (who is called Christ) is coming; when he comes, he will tell us all things. ²⁶ Jesus said to her: I who speak to you am he.

³⁹ You search the scriptures, because in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify concerning me:

¹⁶ But this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel: ¹⁷ And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. ¹⁸ And also on my servants and on my handmaids, I will pour out of my Spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy.

²⁹ Brethren, I may say to you plainly of the patriarch David, that he died, and was buried, and his sepulcher is with us to this day. ³⁰ Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath, that he would cause one from the fruit of his loins to sit on his throne; ³¹ foreseeing this, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul was not left in hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. ³² This Jesus has God raised up, of which we all are witnesses. ³³ Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from his Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you now see and hear.

¹⁸ But the things which God fore told by the mouth of all his prophets, that the Christ should suffer, he has thus fulfilled.
