²⁰ He that received seed on the stony places is he that hears the word, and immediately receives it with joy.

⁵ Others fell on stony places, where they had not much earth; and they immediately sprung up, because they had no depth of earth. ⁶ But when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

¹⁶ And these are they that, in like manner, received seed in stony places: who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy: ¹⁷ and they have no root in themselves, but endure for a time; afterward, when affliction or persecution arises on account of the word, they immediately take offense.
