¹³ When Jesus came into the regions of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying: Who do men say that I, the Son of man, am?

²⁰ And Jesus said to him: The foxes have dens, and the birds of the air have roosts; but the Son of man has not where to lay his head.

⁶ But that you may know that the Son of man on earth has authority to forgive sins (then he said to the palsied man): Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.

⁸ For the Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath.

³² And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be for given him, either in the present age, or in that which is to come.

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

³⁷ He answered and said to them: He that sows the good seed is the Son of man;

And on the road, he asked his disciples, saying to them: Who do men say that I am? ²⁸ They answered: John the Immerser; and others, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets. ²⁹ And he said to them: But who say you that I am? Peter answered and said to him: Thou art the Christ.

³⁸ For whoever will be ashamed of me, and my words, in this sinful and adulterous generation, of him the Son of man also will be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father, with the holy angels.

⁴⁵ For the Son of man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

¹⁸ And it came to pass, as he was praying in a retired place, that his disciples were with him; and he asked them, saying: "Who do the multitudes say that I am? ¹⁹ They answered and said: John the Immerser; but some, Elijah; and others, that some prophet of ancient times has risen again. ²⁰ He said to them: But who do you say that I am? Peter answered and said: The Christ of God.

⁵¹ Jesus answered and said to him: Do you believe, be cause I said to you, I saw you under the fig-tree? You shall see greater things than these. And he said to him: Verily, verily I say to you, From this time you shall see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up;

²⁷ and he has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

³⁴ The multitude answered him: We have heard out of the law, that the Christ remains forever: and how say you that the Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?

⁵⁶ and he said: Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God.

³⁸ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit, and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.

¹⁴ Since, then, the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also, in like manner, partook of the same, that, through his death, he might deprive of power him that has the power of death, that is, the devil; ¹⁵ and might set free those who, through fear of death, were all their lifetime subject to bondage. ¹⁶ For, verily, he does not take hold of angels, but he takes hold of the posterity of Abraham. ¹⁷ "Wherefore, it behooved him to be made like his brethren in all things, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, in order to make expiation for the sins of the people. ¹⁸ For, inasmuch as he himself has suffered in being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
