¹⁸ And I say to you, That you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church: and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it.

² Now these are the names of the twelve apostles: the first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

²³ And thou, Capernaum, that hast been exalted to heaven, shalt be brought down to hades. For if the mighty works which have been done in thee had been done in Sodom, it would have remained till this day.

¹⁷ But if he refuse to hear them, tell it to the church; and if he also refuse to hear the church, let him be to you as a heathen man and a publican.

⁴² He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him: We have found the Messiah; (which, when translated, is the Christ;)

²⁷ my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: ²⁸ and I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall take them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to take them out of my Father's hand. ³⁰ I and my Father are one.

⁴⁷ praising God, and being in favor with all the people. And the Lord added the saved daily to the Church.

¹ And at that time there was a great persecution against the church that was in Jerusalem; and they were all dispersed throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

³³ "Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifies. ³⁴ Who is he that condemns? It is Christ that died: rather, indeed, that has risen, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of the Christ? Shall affliction, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or the sword? ³⁶ As it is written: For thy sake, we are killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. ³⁷ Yet, in all these things, we are more than conquerors, through him that loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, ³⁹ nor hight, nor depth, nor any other creature, will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. SECTION THIRD. God's Dealings with Israel as a People,

⁹ For we are fellow-laborers for God: you are God's field, you are God's building. ¹⁰ According to the grace of God that is given to me, as a wise master-builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds on this. But let every one take heed how he builds on this. ¹¹ For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which, is Jesus Christ.

⁵⁵ Death, where is thy sting? Hades, where is thy victory?

⁹ and knowing the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, but they to the circumcision,

¹⁹ Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God, ²⁰ having been builded upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone, ²¹ in whom the whole building, compactly fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord; ²² in whom you also are builded together, for a dwelling-place of God by his Spirit.

¹⁰ to the end that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known, through the church, to the principalities and authorities in the heavenly regions,

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, as the Christ also loved the church, and delivered himself up for it, ²⁶ that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the bath of water through the word, ²⁷ in order that he might present it to himself a glorious church, having neither stain, nor wrinkle, nor any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

³² Great is this mystery; but I speak of Christ and of the church.

¹⁸ and he is the head of the body, the church: and he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in all things he might be preeminent;

⁵ for if a man knows not how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?

¹⁵ but if I delay, that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.

³ For this man is counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who has builded the house, has more honor than the house. ⁴ For every house is builded by some one; but he that built all things is God.

²⁸ Wherefore, as we receive a kingdom that can not be shaken, let us have gratitude, by which we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and godly fear:

¹⁵ And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying: The kingdom of the world has become our Lord's and his Christ s, and he shall reign from age to age.

¹ And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away: and the sea was no more. ² And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven, from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. ³ And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying: Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them: and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them, their God. ⁴ And he will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death; neither shall there be any more sorrow, nor crying, nor pain; for the former things have passed away.

¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
