⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.

²⁵ Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you make clean the outside of the cup and the plate; but within they are full of rapine and excess. ²⁶ Blind Pharisee! first make clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside of them also may be clean. ²⁷ Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like whitened sepulchers, which without appear beautiful, but within are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. ²⁸ So also you outwardly appear to men to be just, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

⁹ and he made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

¹² Now we see through a mirror, obscurely; but then, face to face; now I know in part, but then shall I know, even as I am known.

¹ Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every pollution of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

¹⁵ To the pure, all things are pure: but to the denied and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but their mind and their conscience are denied.

¹⁴ how much more will the blood of the Christ, who, through the eternal Spirit, offered himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works, in order that you may serve the living God?

²² let us draw near with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, having; our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water;

¹⁴ Follow peace with all, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord;

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

⁸ draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded men.

²² Having purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit, to unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another with a pure heart fervently,

² Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. ³ And every one that has this hope in Him purifies himself, even as He is pure.

⁴ And they shall see his face, and his name shall be in their foreheads.
