⁸ ὑπὲρ (For) τούτου (this), τρὶς (three times) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) παρεκάλεσα (I begged), ἵνα (that) ἀποστῇ (it might depart) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (me).

²¹ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτῇ (to her), “Τί (What) θέλεις (do you desire)?” Λέγει (She says) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Εἰπὲ (Say) ἵνα (that) καθίσωσιν (might sit) οὗτοι (these) οἱ (-) δύο (two) υἱοί (sons) μου (of mine), εἷς (one) ἐκ (on) δεξιῶν (the right hand) ‹σου› (of You) καὶ (and) εἷς (one) ἐξ (on) εὐωνύμων (the left hand) σου (of You), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) σου (of You).” ²² Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (now), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said), “Οὐκ (Not) οἴδατε (you know) τί (what) αἰτεῖσθε (you ask for). δύνασθε (Are you able) πιεῖν (to drink) τὸ (the) ποτήριον (cup) ὃ (which) ἐγὼ (I) μέλλω (am about) πίνειν (to drink)?” Λέγουσιν (They say) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Δυνάμεθα (We are able).”

³⁹ Καὶ (And) προελθὼν (having gone forward) μικρὸν (a little), ἔπεσεν (He fell) ἐπὶ (upon) πρόσωπον (face) αὐτοῦ (of Him), προσευχόμενος (praying), καὶ (and) λέγων (saying), “Πάτερ (Father) μου (of Me), εἰ (if) δυνατόν (possible) ἐστιν (it is), παρελθάτω (let pass) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (Me) τὸ (the) ποτήριον (cup) τοῦτο (this). πλὴν (Nevertheless) οὐχ (not) ὡς (as) ἐγὼ (I) θέλω (will), ἀλλ’ (but) ὡς (as) σύ (You).” ⁴⁰ Καὶ (And) ἔρχεται (He comes) πρὸς (to) τοὺς (the) μαθητὰς (disciples) καὶ (and) εὑρίσκει (finds) αὐτοὺς (them) καθεύδοντας (sleeping). καὶ (And) λέγει (He says) τῷ (-) Πέτρῳ (to Peter), “Οὕτως (Thus) οὐκ (not) ἰσχύσατε (were you able) μίαν (one) ὥραν (hour) γρηγορῆσαι (to watch) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me)? ⁴¹ γρηγορεῖτε (Watch) καὶ (and) προσεύχεσθε (pray), ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) εἰσέλθητε (you enter) εἰς (into) πειρασμόν (temptation). τὸ (The) μὲν (indeed) πνεῦμα (spirit) πρόθυμον (is willing), ἡ (-) δὲ (but) σὰρξ (the flesh) ἀσθενής (weak).” ⁴² Πάλιν (Again) ἐκ (for) δευτέρου (a second time) ἀπελθὼν (having gone away), προσηύξατο (He prayed), λέγων (saying), “Πάτερ (Father) μου (of Me), εἰ (if) οὐ (not) δύναται (is possible) τοῦτο (this) παρελθεῖν (to pass) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) αὐτὸ (it) πίω (I drink), γενηθήτω (be done) τὸ (the) θέλημά (will) σου (of You).” ⁴³ καὶ (And) ἐλθὼν (having come) πάλιν (again), εὗρεν (He finds) αὐτοὺς (them) καθεύδοντας (sleeping), ἦσαν (were) γὰρ (for) αὐτῶν (of them) οἱ (the) ὀφθαλμοὶ (eyes) βεβαρημένοι (heavy). ⁴⁴ Καὶ (And) ἀφεὶς (having left) αὐτοὺς (them) πάλιν (again), ἀπελθὼν (having gone away), προσηύξατο (He prayed) ἐκ (for) τρίτου (the third time), τὸν (the) αὐτὸν (same) λόγον (thing) εἰπὼν (having said) πάλιν (again).

⁷ Ὃς (He) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἡμέραις (days) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) αὐτοῦ (of Him), δεήσεις (prayers) τε (both) καὶ (and) ἱκετηρίας (supplications), πρὸς (to) τὸν (the One) δυνάμενον (being able) σῴζειν (to save) αὐτὸν (Him) ἐκ (from) θανάτου (death), μετὰ (with) κραυγῆς (crying) ἰσχυρᾶς (loud) καὶ (and) δακρύων (tears) προσενέγκας (having offered up), καὶ (and) εἰσακουσθεὶς (having been heard), ἀπὸ (because of) τῆς (-) εὐλαβείας (reverence),
