⁴¹ Τότε (Then) ἐρεῖ (will He say) καὶ (also) τοῖς (to those) ἐξ (on) εὐωνύμων (the left), ‘Πορεύεσθε (Depart) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (Me), ‹οἱ› (those) κατηραμένοι (being cursed), εἰς (into) τὸ (the) πῦρ (fire) τὸ (-) αἰώνιον (eternal), τὸ (-) ἡτοιμασμένον (having been prepared) τῷ (for the) διαβόλῳ (devil) καὶ (and) τοῖς (the) ἀγγέλοις (angels) αὐτοῦ (of him).

⁴⁶ Καὶ (And) ἀπελεύσονται (will go away) οὗτοι (these) εἰς (into) κόλασιν (punishment) αἰώνιον (eternal); οἱ (-) δὲ (but) δίκαιοι (the righteous) εἰς (into) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal).”

¹⁹ Αὕτη (This) δέ (now) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) κρίσις (judgement), ὅτι (that) τὸ (the) φῶς (Light) ἐλήλυθεν (has come) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), καὶ (and) ἠγάπησαν (loved) οἱ (-) ἄνθρωποι (men) μᾶλλον (rather) τὸ (the) σκότος (darkness) ἢ (than) τὸ (the) φῶς (Light); ἦν (were) γὰρ (for) αὐτῶν (of them) πονηρὰ (evil) τὰ (the) ἔργα (deeds).

¹⁹ Ἔλεγον (They were saying) οὖν (therefore) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ποῦ (Where) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) σου (of You)?” Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Οὔτε (Neither) ἐμὲ (Me) οἴδατε (you know), οὔτε (nor) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) μου (of Me). εἰ (If) ἐμὲ (Me) ᾔδειτε (you had known), καὶ (also) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) μου (of Me) ἂν (-) ᾔδειτε (you would have known).”

⁷ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ηὔξανεν (continued to increase), καὶ (and) ἐπληθύνετο (was multiplied) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number) τῶν (of the) μαθητῶν (disciples) ἐν (in) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem) σφόδρα (exceedingly); πολύς (a great) τε (then) ὄχλος (multitude) τῶν (of the) ἱερέων (priests) ὑπήκουον (were becoming obedient) τῇ (to the) πίστει (faith).

⁵ δι’ (through) οὗ (whom) ἐλάβομεν (we have received) χάριν (grace) καὶ (and) ἀποστολὴν (apostleship) εἰς (unto) ὑπακοὴν (obedience) πίστεως (of faith) ἐν (among) πᾶσιν (all) τοῖς (the) ἔθνεσιν (Gentiles) ὑπὲρ (on behalf of) τοῦ (the) ὀνόματος (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

²⁸ Καὶ (And) καθὼς (as) οὐκ (not) ἐδοκίμασαν (they did see fit) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἔχειν (to have) ἐν (in their) ἐπιγνώσει (knowledge), παρέδωκεν (gave up) αὐτοὺς (them) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) εἰς (to) ἀδόκιμον (a depraved) νοῦν (mind), ποιεῖν (to do) τὰ (things) μὴ (not) καθήκοντα (being proper);

⁷ τοῖς (to those who) μὲν (indeed) καθ’ (with) ὑπομονὴν (endurance) ἔργου (in work) ἀγαθοῦ (good), δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) ἀφθαρσίαν (immortality) ζητοῦσιν (are seeking), ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal); ⁸ τοῖς (to those) δὲ (however) ἐξ (of) ἐριθείας (self-interest) καὶ (and) ἀπειθοῦσι (disobeying) τῇ (the) ἀληθείᾳ (truth), πειθομένοις (being persuaded about) δὲ (however) τῇ (-) ἀδικίᾳ (unrighteousness), ὀργὴ (wrath) καὶ (and) θυμός (anger);

¹⁶ οὐκ (Not) οἴδατε (know you) ὅτι (that) ᾧ (to whom) παριστάνετε (you yield) ἑαυτοὺς (yourselves) δούλους (as slaves) εἰς (for) ὑπακοήν (obedience), δοῦλοί (slaves) ἐστε (you are) ᾧ (to him whom) ὑπακούετε (you obey), ἤτοι (whether) ἁμαρτίας (of sin) εἰς (to) θάνατον (death), ἢ (or) ὑπακοῆς (of obedience) εἰς (to) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness)?

¹⁶ Ἀλλ’ (But) οὐ (not) πάντες (all) ὑπήκουσαν (heeded) τῷ (the) εὐαγγελίῳ (good news). Ἠσαΐας (Isaiah) γὰρ (for) λέγει (says), “Κύριε (Lord), τίς (who) ἐπίστευσεν (has believed) τῇ (the) ἀκοῇ (report) ἡμῶν (of us)?”

¹⁸ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) τολμήσω (will I dare) τι (anything) λαλεῖν (to speak of), ὧν (what) οὐ (except) κατειργάσατο (has accomplished) Χριστὸς (Christ) δι’ (through) ἐμοῦ (me), εἰς (unto the) ὑπακοὴν (obedience) ἐθνῶν (of the Gentiles), λόγῳ (by word) καὶ (and) ἔργῳ (deed),

²⁶ φανερωθέντος (having been made manifest) δὲ (however) νῦν (now), διά (through) τε (also) γραφῶν (Scriptures) προφητικῶν (prophetic), κατ’ (according to) ἐπιταγὴν (the commandment) τοῦ (of the) αἰωνίου (Eternal) Θεοῦ (God), εἰς (unto the) ὑπακοὴν (obedience) πίστεως (of faith) — εἰς (to) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) γνωρισθέντος (having been made known) —

³⁴ ἐκνήψατε (Sober up) δικαίως (righteously) καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ἁμαρτάνετε (sin); ἀγνωσίαν (ignorance) γὰρ (for) Θεοῦ (of God) τινες (some) ἔχουσιν (have); πρὸς (to) ἐντροπὴν (the shame) ὑμῖν (of you) λαλῶ (I speak).

⁵ λογισμοὺς (arguments) καθαιροῦντες (overthrowing), καὶ (and) πᾶν (every) ὕψωμα (high thing) ἐπαιρόμενον (lifting itself up) κατὰ (against) τῆς (the) γνώσεως (knowledge) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) αἰχμαλωτίζοντες (taking captive) πᾶν (every) νόημα (thought) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ὑπακοὴν (obedience) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ),

¹ Ὦ (O) ἀνόητοι (foolish) Γαλάται (Galatians)! τίς (Who) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐβάσκανεν (has bewitched), οἷς (whose) κατ’ (before) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) Χριστὸς (Christ) προεγράφη (was publicly portrayed) ἐσταυρωμένος (as having been crucified)?

⁸ Ἀλλὰ (But) τότε (at that time) μὲν (indeed) οὐκ (not) εἰδότες (knowing) Θεὸν (God), ἐδουλεύσατε (you were enslaved) τοῖς (to those) φύσει (by nature) μὴ (not) οὖσιν (being) θεοῖς (gods);

⁵ μὴ (not) ἐν (in) πάθει (the passion) ἐπιθυμίας (of lust), καθάπερ (as) καὶ (also) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles), τὰ (-) μὴ (not) εἰδότα (knowing) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God);

³ πῶς (how) ἡμεῖς (we) ἐκφευξόμεθα (will escape) τηλικαύτης (such a great) ἀμελήσαντες (having neglected) σωτηρίας (a salvation), ἥτις (which) ἀρχὴν (a commencement) λαβοῦσα (having received), λαλεῖσθαι (declared) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord), ὑπὸ (by) τῶν (those) ἀκουσάντων (having heard), εἰς (to) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐβεβαιώθη (it was confirmed),

⁹ καὶ (and) τελειωθεὶς (having been perfected), ἐγένετο (He became) πᾶσιν (to all) τοῖς (those) ὑπακούουσιν (obeying) αὐτῷ (Him), αἴτιος (the author) σωτηρίας (of salvation) αἰωνίου (eternal),

²⁷ φοβερὰ (terrifying) δέ (however) τις (a certain) ἐκδοχὴ (expectation) κρίσεως (of judgment) καὶ (and) πυρὸς (of fire) ζῆλος (fury) ἐσθίειν (to devour) μέλλοντος (being about) τοὺς (the) ὑπεναντίους (adversaries).

³⁰ Οἴδαμεν (We know) γὰρ (for) τὸν (the One) εἰπόντα (having said), “Ἐμοὶ (Mine) ἐκδίκησις (is vengeance); ἐγὼ (I) ἀνταποδώσω (will repay),” καὶ (and) πάλιν (again), “Κρινεῖ (Will judge) Κύριος (the Lord) τὸν (the) λαὸν (people) αὐτοῦ (of Him).”

⁸ Πίστει (By faith) καλούμενος (being called), Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) ὑπήκουσεν (obeyed) ἐξελθεῖν (to go out) εἰς (into) τόπον (a place) ὃν (that) ἤμελλεν (he was going) λαμβάνειν (to receive) εἰς (for) κληρονομίαν (an inheritance), καὶ (and) ἐξῆλθεν (went out), μὴ (not) ἐπιστάμενος (knowing) ποῦ (where) ἔρχεται (he is going).

²⁹ καὶ (Also) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) ἡμῶν (of us) πῦρ (is a fire) καταναλίσκον (consuming).

² κατὰ (according to) πρόγνωσιν (the foreknowledge) Θεοῦ (of God) Πατρός (the Father), ἐν (by) ἁγιασμῷ (the sanctification) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit), εἰς (unto) ὑπακοὴν (the obedience) καὶ (and) ῥαντισμὸν (sprinkling) αἵματος (of the blood) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ): Χάρις (Grace) ὑμῖν (to you) καὶ (and) εἰρήνη (peace) πληθυνθείη (may be multiplied).

⁶ ὡς (as) Σάρρα (Sarah) ὑπήκουσεν (obeyed) τῷ (-) Ἀβραάμ (Abraham), κύριον (lord) αὐτὸν (him) καλοῦσα (calling), ἧς (of whom) ἐγενήθητε (you have become) τέκνα (children), ἀγαθοποιοῦσαι (doing good) καὶ (and) μὴ (not) φοβούμεναι (fearing) μηδεμίαν (not one) πτόησιν (consternation).

¹⁷ ὅτι (For it is) ὁ (the) καιρὸς (time for) τοῦ (-) ἄρξασθαι (to have begun) τὸ (the) κρίμα (judgment) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) οἴκου (house) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); εἰ (if) δὲ (now) πρῶτον (first) ἀφ’ (from) ἡμῶν (us), τί (what will be) τὸ (the) τέλος (outcome) τῶν (of those) ἀπειθούντων (disobeying) τῷ (the) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εὐαγγελίῳ (gospel)?

⁷ οἱ (-) δὲ (But) νῦν (now) οὐρανοὶ (the heavens) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth), τῷ (by the) αὐτῷ (same) λόγῳ (word) τεθησαυρισμένοι (having been stored up) εἰσὶν (exist), πυρὶ (for fire) τηρούμενοι (being kept) εἰς (unto) ἡμέραν (the day) κρίσεως (of judgment) καὶ (and) ἀπωλείας (destruction) τῶν (-) ἀσεβῶν (of ungodly) ἀνθρώπων (men).

¹⁰ Ἥξει (Will come) δὲ (however) ἡμέρα (the day) Κυρίου (of the Lord) ὡς (like) κλέπτης (a thief), ἐν (in) ᾗ (which) οἱ (the) οὐρανοὶ (heavens) ῥοιζηδὸν (with a roar) παρελεύσονται (will pass away), στοιχεῖα (elements) δὲ (then) καυσούμενα (burning with heat) λυθήσεται (will be dissolved), καὶ (and) γῆ (the earth) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it) ἔργα (works) [οὐχ] (not) εὑρεθήσεται (will be found). ¹¹ Τούτων (These things) οὕτως (in this way) πάντων (all) λυομένων (being dissolved), ποταποὺς (what kind) δεῖ (ought) ὑπάρχειν (to be) ὑμᾶς (you)? ἐν (In) ἁγίαις (holy) ἀναστροφαῖς (conduct) καὶ (and) εὐσεβείαις (godliness), ¹² προσδοκῶντας (expecting) καὶ (and) σπεύδοντας (hastening) τὴν (the) παρουσίαν (coming) τῆς (of the) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἡμέρας (day), δι’ (by reason of) ἣν (which) οὐρανοὶ (the heavens) πυρούμενοι (being set on fire) λυθήσονται (will be dissolved), καὶ (and) στοιχεῖα (the elements) καυσούμενα (burning with heat) τήκεται (are melting).

¹⁰ καὶ (And) ἔκραξαν (they were crying) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγοντες (saying), “Ἕως (Until) πότε (when), ὁ (O) Δεσπότης (Lord), ὁ (-) ἅγιος (holy) καὶ (and) ἀληθινός (true), οὐ (not) κρίνεις (do You judge), καὶ (and) ἐκδικεῖς (avenge) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐκ (from) τῶν (those) κατοικούντων (dwelling) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth)?”

¹⁶ καὶ (And) λέγουσιν (they say) τοῖς (to the) ὄρεσιν (mountains) καὶ (and) ταῖς (to the) πέτραις (rocks), “Πέσετε (Fall) ἐφ’ (on) ἡμᾶς (us) καὶ (and) κρύψατε (hide) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπὸ (from) προσώπου (the face) τοῦ (of the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), ¹⁷ ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) ἡμέρα (day) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) αὐτῶν (of Them), καὶ (and) τίς (who) δύναται (is able) σταθῆναι (to stand)?”

¹⁰ καὶ (And) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil), ὁ (the one) πλανῶν (deceiving) αὐτοὺς (them), ἐβλήθη (was cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρὸς (of fire) καὶ (and) θείου (of sulfur), ὅπου (where are) καὶ (also) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ψευδοπροφήτης (false prophet); καὶ (and) βασανισθήσονται (they will be tormented) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) ὁ (-) θάνατος (Death) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) ᾅδης (Hades) ἐβλήθησαν (were cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρός (of fire). οὗτος (This) ὁ (the) θάνατος (death) ὁ (-) δεύτερός (second) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) λίμνη (lake) τοῦ (of) πυρός (fire). ¹⁵ καὶ (And) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) οὐχ (not) εὑρέθη (was found) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βίβλῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) γεγραμμένος (having been written), ἐβλήθη (he was cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρός (of fire).

⁸ Τοῖς (-) δὲ (But) δειλοῖς (to the cowardly) καὶ (and) ἀπίστοις (unbelieving) καὶ (and) ἐβδελυγμένοις (having become abominable) καὶ (and) φονεῦσιν (murderers) καὶ (and) πόρνοις (the sexually immoral) καὶ (and) φαρμάκοις (sorcerers) καὶ (and) εἰδωλολάτραις (idolaters) καὶ (and) πᾶσιν (all) τοῖς (-) ψευδέσιν (liars), τὸ (the) μέρος (portion) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐν (is in) τῇ (the) λίμνῃ (lake) τῇ (-) καιομένῃ (burning) πυρὶ (with fire) καὶ (and) θείῳ (brimstone), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) θάνατος (death) ὁ (-) δεύτερος (second).”
