²² Ἔλεγον (Were saying) οὖν (therefore) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews), “Μήτι (Not) ἀποκτενεῖ (will He kill) ἑαυτὸν (Himself), ὅτι (that) λέγει (He says), ‘Ὅπου (Where) ἐγὼ (I) ὑπάγω (go), ὑμεῖς (you) οὐ (not) δύνασθε (are able) ἐλθεῖν (to come)’?”

²⁰ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) ὁ (the) ὄχλος (crowd), “Δαιμόνιον (A demon) ἔχεις (You have); τίς (who) σε (You) ζητεῖ (seeks) ἀποκτεῖναι (to kill)?”

³⁵ Εἶπον (Said) οὖν (therefore) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews) πρὸς (among) ἑαυτούς (themselves), “Ποῦ (Where) οὗτος (He) μέλλει (is about) πορεύεσθαι (to go) ὅτι (that) ἡμεῖς (we) οὐχ (not) εὑρήσομεν (will find) αὐτόν (Him)? μὴ (Not) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) Διασπορὰν (Dispersion) τῶν (among the) Ἑλλήνων (Greeks) μέλλει (is He about) πορεύεσθαι (to go) καὶ (and) διδάσκειν (to teach) τοὺς (the) Ἕλληνας (Greeks)?

⁴⁸ Ἀπεκρίθησαν (Answered) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews) καὶ (and) εἶπαν (said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Οὐ (Not) καλῶς (rightly) λέγομεν (say) ἡμεῖς (we) ὅτι (that) Σαμαρίτης (a Samaritan) εἶ (are) σὺ (You), καὶ (and) δαιμόνιον (a demon) ἔχεις (have)?”

⁵² [Εἶπον (Said) οὖν] (therefore) αὐτῷ (to Him) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews), “Νῦν (Now) ἐγνώκαμεν (we know) ὅτι (that) δαιμόνιον (a demon) ἔχεις (You have). Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) ἀπέθανεν (died), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) προφῆται (prophets), καὶ (and) σὺ (You) λέγεις (say), ‘Ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) μου (of Me) τηρήσῃ (keeps), οὐ (never) μὴ (not) γεύσηται (shall he taste) θανάτου (of death), εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age).’

²⁰ ἔλεγον (Were saying) δὲ (now) πολλοὶ (many) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them), “Δαιμόνιον (A demon) ἔχει (He has), καὶ (and) μαίνεται (is insane); τί (why) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἀκούετε (do you listen to)?”

³ ἀναλογίσασθε (Consider fully) γὰρ (for), τὸν (the One) τοιαύτην (such great) ὑπομεμενηκότα (having endured) ὑπὸ (from) τῶν (-) ἁμαρτωλῶν (sinners) εἰς (against) ἑαυτὸν (Himself) ἀντιλογίαν (hostility), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) κάμητε (you shall grow weary), ταῖς (in the) ψυχαῖς (souls) ὑμῶν (of you) ἐκλυόμενοι (fainting).

¹³ τοίνυν (Therefore) ἐξερχώμεθα (we should go forth) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (Him) ἔξω (outside) τῆς (the) παρεμβολῆς (camp), τὸν (the) ὀνειδισμὸν (reproach) αὐτοῦ (of Him) φέροντες (bearing).
