²⁵ ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Οἱ (The) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (Gentiles) κυριεύουσιν (rule over) αὐτῶν (them), καὶ (and) οἱ (those) ἐξουσιάζοντες (exercising authority over) αὐτῶν (them), εὐεργέται (benefactors) καλοῦνται (are called).

²⁵ ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), προσκαλεσάμενος (having called to him) αὐτοὺς (them), εἶπεν (said), “Οἴδατε (You know) ὅτι (that) οἱ (the) ἄρχοντες (rulers) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (Gentiles) κατακυριεύουσιν (exercise lordship over) αὐτῶν (them), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) μεγάλοι (great ones) κατεξουσιάζουσιν (exercise authority over) αὐτῶν (them). ²⁶ οὐχ (Not) οὕτως (thus) ἔσται* (will it be) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you); ἀλλ’ (but) ὃς (whoever) ἐὰν (if) θέλῃ (wishes) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) μέγας (great) γενέσθαι (to become), ἔσται (he will be) ὑμῶν (your) διάκονος (servant); ²⁷ καὶ (and) ὃς (whoever) ἂν (-) θέλῃ (wishes) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) εἶναι (to be) πρῶτος (first), ἔσται (he will be) ὑμῶν (your) δοῦλος (slave); ²⁸ ὥσπερ (even as) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) οὐκ (not) ἦλθεν (came) διακονηθῆναι (to be served), ἀλλὰ (but) διακονῆσαι (to serve), καὶ (and) δοῦναι (to give) τὴν (the) ψυχὴν (life) αὐτοῦ (of Him) λύτρον (as a ransom) ἀντὶ (for) πολλῶν (many).”

⁴¹ Καὶ (And) ἀκούσαντες (having heard this), οἱ (the) δέκα (ten) ἤρξαντο (began) ἀγανακτεῖν (to be indignant) περὶ (about) Ἰακώβου (James) καὶ (and) Ἰωάννου (John). ⁴² καὶ (And) προσκαλεσάμενος (having called near) αὐτοὺς (them), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) λέγει (says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Οἴδατε (You know) ὅτι (that) οἱ (those) δοκοῦντες (being accounted) ἄρχειν (to rule over) τῶν (the) ἐθνῶν (Gentiles) κατακυριεύουσιν (exercise lordship over) αὐτῶν (them); καὶ (and) οἱ (those) μεγάλοι (great ones) αὐτῶν (of them) κατεξουσιάζουσιν (exercise authority over) αὐτῶν (them). ⁴³ οὐχ (Not) οὕτως (thus) δέ (however) ἐστιν (shall it be) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you). ἀλλ’ (Instead), ὃς (whoever) ἂν (-) θέλῃ (desires) μέγας (great) γενέσθαι (to become) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you), ἔσται (will be) ὑμῶν (your) διάκονος (servant); ⁴⁴ καὶ (and) ὃς (whoever) ἂν (-) θέλῃ (desires) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) εἶναι (to become) πρῶτος (first), ἔσται (will be) πάντων (of all) δοῦλος (slave). ⁴⁵ καὶ (Even) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) οὐκ (not) ἦλθεν (came) διακονηθῆναι (to be served), ἀλλὰ (but) διακονῆσαι (to serve), καὶ (and) δοῦναι (to give) τὴν (the) ψυχὴν (life) αὐτοῦ (of Him) λύτρον (as a ransom) ἀντὶ (for) πολλῶν (many).”
