⁶⁰ Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (then) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἄφες (Leave) τοὺς (the) νεκροὺς (dead) θάψαι (to bury) τοὺς (-) ἑαυτῶν (their own) νεκρούς (dead); σὺ (you) δὲ (however), ἀπελθὼν (having gone forth), διάγγελλε (declare) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).”

³² εὐφρανθῆναι (To make merry) δὲ (however) καὶ (and) χαρῆναι (to rejoice) ἔδει (it was fitting), ὅτι (because) ὁ (the) ἀδελφός (brother) σου (of you) οὗτος (this), νεκρὸς (dead) ἦν (was), καὶ (and) ἔζησεν (is alive again); καὶ (and) ἀπολωλὼς (he was lost), καὶ (and) εὑρέθη (is found).’”

¹⁶ Ἐὰν (If) γὰρ (for) εὐαγγελίζωμαι (I preach the gospel), οὐκ (nothing) ἔστιν (there is) μοι (to me) καύχημα (boasting); ἀνάγκη (necessity) γάρ (for) μοι (me) ἐπίκειται (is laid upon). οὐαὶ (Woe) γάρ (however) μοί (to me) ἐστιν (be), ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) εὐαγγελίσωμαι (I should preach the gospel).

¹⁶ Ὥστε (Therefore) ἡμεῖς (we) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) νῦν (now) οὐδένα (no one) οἴδαμεν (regard) κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (the flesh). εἰ (Though) καὶ (even) ἐγνώκαμεν (we have regarded) κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (flesh) Χριστόν (Christ), ἀλλὰ (yet) νῦν (now) οὐκέτι (no longer) γινώσκομεν (we regard Him thus). ¹⁷ ὥστε (Therefore) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) ἐν (is in) Χριστῷ (Christ), καινὴ (he is a new) κτίσις (creation). τὰ (The) ἀρχαῖα (old things) παρῆλθεν (have passed away); ἰδοὺ (behold), γέγονεν (has come into being) καινά (the new). ¹⁸ Τὰ (-) δὲ (And) πάντα (all things) ἐκ (are of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), τοῦ (the One) καταλλάξαντος (having reconciled) ἡμᾶς (us) ἑαυτῷ (to Himself) διὰ (through) Χριστοῦ (Christ), καὶ (and) δόντος (having given) ἡμῖν (to us) τὴν (the) διακονίαν (ministry) τῆς (-) καταλλαγῆς (of reconciliation),

¹ Καὶ (And) ὑμᾶς (you), ὄντας (being) νεκροὺς (dead) τοῖς (in the) παραπτώμασιν (trespasses) καὶ (and) ταῖς (the) ἁμαρτίαις (sins) ὑμῶν (of you),

⁵ καὶ (even) ὄντας (being) ἡμᾶς (we) νεκροὺς (dead) τοῖς (-) παραπτώμασιν (in trespasses), συνεζωοποίησεν (made us alive with) τῷ (-) Χριστῷ (Christ) — χάριτί (by grace) ἐστε (you are) σεσῳσμένοι (saved) —

⁶ ἡ (She) δὲ (however) σπαταλῶσα (living in self-indulgence), ζῶσα (while living) τέθνηκεν (is dead).

³ Συνκακοπάθησον (Share in suffering) ὡς (as) καλὸς (a good) στρατιώτης (soldier) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus). ⁴ οὐδεὶς (No one) στρατευόμενος (serving as a soldier) ἐμπλέκεται (entangles himself) ταῖς (in the) τοῦ (of this) βίου (life) πραγματείαις (affairs), ἵνα (that) τῷ (the one) στρατολογήσαντι (having enlisted him), ἀρέσῃ (he might please).

² κήρυξον (Preach) τὸν (the) λόγον (word); ἐπίστηθι (be ready) εὐκαίρως (in season) ἀκαίρως (and out of season); ἔλεγξον (convict), ἐπιτίμησον (rebuke), παρακάλεσον (and exhort), ἐν (with) πάσῃ (complete) μακροθυμίᾳ (patience) καὶ (and) διδαχῇ (instruction).

⁵ Σὺ (You) δὲ (however), νῆφε (be sober) ἐν (in) πᾶσιν (all things), κακοπάθησον (endure afflictions), ἔργον (the work) ποίησον (do) εὐαγγελιστοῦ (of an evangelist), τὴν (the) διακονίαν (ministry) σου (of you) πληροφόρησον (fully carry out).

¹ Καὶ (And) τῷ (to the) ἀγγέλῳ (messenger) τῆς (of the) ἐν (in) Σάρδεσιν (Sardis) ἐκκλησίας (church) γράψον (write): Τάδε (These things) λέγει (says) ὁ (the One) ἔχων (having) τὰ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) Πνεύματα (Spirits) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀστέρας (stars). Οἶδά (I know) σου (your) τὰ (-) ἔργα (deeds), ὅτι (that) ὄνομα (the characterization) ἔχεις (you have) ὅτι (that) ζῇς (you are alive), καὶ (and yet) νεκρὸς (dead) εἶ (you are).
