⁵ ἠδύνατο (Could) γὰρ (for) τοῦτο (this) τὸ (-) μύρον (fragrant oil) πραθῆναι (to have been sold) ἐπάνω (for above) δηναρίων (denarii) τριακοσίων (three hundred), καὶ (and) δοθῆναι (to have been given) τοῖς (to the) πτωχοῖς (poor).” καὶ (And) ἐνεβριμῶντο (they were grumbling) αὐτῇ (at her).

²⁸ Ἐξελθὼν (Having gone out) δὲ (however), ὁ (the) δοῦλος (servant) ἐκεῖνος (same) εὗρεν (found) ἕνα (one) τῶν (the) συνδούλων (fellow servants) αὐτοῦ (of him) ὃς (who) ὤφειλεν (was owing) αὐτῷ (him) ἑκατὸν (a hundred) δηνάρια (denarii), καὶ (and) κρατήσας (having seized) αὐτὸν (him) ἔπνιγεν (he was throttling him), λέγων (saying), ‘Ἀπόδος (Pay) εἴ (if) τι (any) ὀφείλεις (you owe).’

¹¹ Λαβόντες (Having received), δὲ (now) ἐγόγγυζον (they were grumbling) κατὰ (against) τοῦ (the) οἰκοδεσπότου (master of the house),

² καὶ (And) διεγόγγυζον (were grumbling) οἵ (the) τε (both) Φαρισαῖοι (Pharisees) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes), λέγοντες (saying) ὅτι (-), “Οὗτος (This man) ἁμαρτωλοὺς (sinners) προσδέχεται (receives) καὶ (and) συνεσθίει (eats with) αὐτοῖς (them).”

⁷ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) αὐτῷ (Him) ὁ (-) Φίλιππος (Philip), “Διακοσίων (Two hundred) δηναρίων (denarii worth) ἄρτοι (of loaves) οὐκ (not) ἀρκοῦσιν (are sufficient) αὐτοῖς (for them) ἵνα (that) ἕκαστος (each) βραχύ (little piece) τι (one) λάβῃ (might receive).”

⁴³ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Μὴ (Not) γογγύζετε (grumble) μετ’ (with) ἀλλήλων (one another).

⁵ “Διὰ (Because of) τί (why) τοῦτο (this) τὸ (-) μύρον (fragrant oil) οὐκ (not) ἐπράθη (was sold) τριακοσίων (for three hundred) δηναρίων (denarii) καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (given) πτωχοῖς (to the poor)?” ⁶ εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (however) τοῦτο (this), οὐχ (not) ὅτι (because) περὶ (for) τῶν (the) πτωχῶν (poor) ἔμελεν (he was caring) αὐτῷ (to him), ἀλλ’ (but) ὅτι (because) κλέπτης (a thief) ἦν (he was), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) γλωσσόκομον (money bag) ἔχων (having), τὰ (that) βαλλόμενα (being put into it) ἐβάσταζεν (he used to pilfer).

²⁹ τινὲς (Some) γὰρ (for) ἐδόκουν (were thinking), ἐπεὶ (since) τὸ (the) γλωσσόκομον (money bag) εἶχεν (had) Ἰούδας (Judas), ὅτι (that) λέγει (is saying) αὐτῷ (to him) ‹ὁ› (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἀγόρασον (Buy) ὧν (what things) χρείαν (need of) ἔχομεν (we have) εἰς (for) τὴν (the) ἑορτήν (feast),” ἢ (or) τοῖς (to the) πτωχοῖς (poor) ἵνα (that) τι (something) δῷ (he should give).

¹⁰ μηδὲ (Neither) γογγύζετε (are you to grumble), καθάπερ (as) τινὲς (some) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐγόγγυσαν (grumbled), καὶ (and) ἀπώλοντο (perished) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) ὀλοθρευτοῦ (Destroyer).

²⁸ Ὁ (The one) κλέπτων (stealing), μηκέτι (no longer) κλεπτέτω (let him steal); μᾶλλον (rather) δὲ (however) κοπιάτω (let him toil), ἐργαζόμενος (working) ταῖς (with the) ἰδίαις (own) χερσὶν (hands) τὸ (what) ἀγαθόν (is good), ἵνα (so that) ἔχῃ (he may have something) μεταδιδόναι (to impart) τῷ (to the one) χρείαν (need) ἔχοντι (having).

¹⁴ Πάντα (All things) ποιεῖτε (do) χωρὶς (without) γογγυσμῶν (murmurings) καὶ (and) διαλογισμῶν (disputings),

¹⁶ Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) γογγυσταί (grumblers), μεμψίμοιροι (discontented), κατὰ (after) τὰς (the) ἐπιθυμίας (lusts) αὐτῶν (own) πορευόμενοι (following); καὶ (and) τὸ (the) στόμα (mouth) αὐτῶν (of them) λαλεῖ (speaks) ὑπέρογκα (great swelling words), θαυμάζοντες (flattering) πρόσωπα (faces) ὠφελείας (profit) χάριν (for the sake of).
