²⁵ Ἐν (At) ἐκείνῳ (that) τῷ (-) καιρῷ (time) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said), “Ἐξομολογοῦμαί (I fully consent) σοι (to You), Πάτερ (Father), Κύριε (Lord) τοῦ (of the) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) καὶ (and) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), ὅτι (that) ἔκρυψας (You did hide) ταῦτα (these things) ἀπὸ (from) σοφῶν (wise) καὶ (and) συνετῶν (learned), καὶ (and) ἀπεκάλυψας (did reveal) αὐτὰ (them) νηπίοις (to little children). ²⁶ ναί (Yes), ὁ (-) Πατήρ (Father), ὅτι (for) οὕτως (thus) εὐδοκία (well-pleasing) ἐγένετο (it was) ἔμπροσθέν (before) σου (You).

¹⁷ Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (now), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Μακάριος (Blessed) εἶ (are you), Σίμων (Simon) Βαριωνᾶ (Barjona)! ὅτι (For) σὰρξ (flesh) καὶ (and) αἷμα (blood) οὐκ (not) ἀπεκάλυψέν (revealed it) σοι (to you), ἀλλ’ (but) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) μου (of Me), ὁ (who is) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens).

¹¹ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Οὐ (Not) πάντες (all) χωροῦσιν (receive) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦτον (this), ἀλλ’ (but only those) οἷς (to whom) δέδοται (it has been given).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) ἔλεγεν (He was saying) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ὑμῖν (To you) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) δέδοται (has been given) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ἐκείνοις (To those) δὲ (however) τοῖς (who are) ἔξω (outside), ἐν (in) παραβολαῖς (parables) τὰ (-) πάντα (everything) γίνεται (is done),

¹⁰ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said), “Ὑμῖν (To you) δέδοται (it has been given) γνῶναι (to know) τὰ (the) μυστήρια (mysteries) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); τοῖς (to) δὲ (however) λοιποῖς (the rest), ἐν (it is in) παραβολαῖς (parables), ἵνα (so that), ‘Βλέποντες (Seeing), μὴ (not) βλέπωσιν (may they see); Καὶ (and) ἀκούοντες (hearing), μὴ (not) συνιῶσιν (may they understand).’

³⁹ καὶ (And) τῇδε (she) ἦν (had) ἀδελφὴ (a sister) καλουμένη (called) Μαριάμ (Mary), ἣ (who) καὶ (also) παρακαθεσθεῖσα (having sat down) πρὸς (at) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), ἤκουεν (was listening to) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ⁴⁰ ἡ (-) δὲ (But) Μάρθα (Martha) περιεσπᾶτο (was distracted) περὶ (about) πολλὴν (much) διακονίαν (service); ἐπιστᾶσα (having come up) δὲ (now), εἶπεν (she said), “Κύριε (Lord), οὐ (not) μέλει (is it concerning) σοι (to You) ὅτι (that) ἡ (the) ἀδελφή (sister) μου (of me) μόνην (alone) με (me) κατέλειπεν (has left) διακονεῖν (to serve)? εἰπὲ* (Speak) οὖν (therefore) αὐτῇ (to her) ἵνα (that) μοι (me) συναντιλάβηται (she might help)!” ⁴¹ Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (now), εἶπεν (said) αὐτῇ (to her) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord), “Μάρθα (Martha), Μάρθα (Martha), μεριμνᾷς (you are anxious) καὶ (and) θορυβάζῃ (troubled) περὶ (about) πολλά (many things); ⁴² ὀλίγων (one thing) δέ (however) ἐστιν (is) χρεία (necessary), ἢ (and) ἑνός (one thing) Μαριὰμ (Mary) γὰρ (for) τὴν (the) ἀγαθὴν (good) μερίδα (portion) ἐξελέξατο (has chosen), ἥτις (which) οὐκ (not) ἀφαιρεθήσεται (will be taken away from) αὐτῆς (her).”

⁶⁵ Καὶ (And) ἔλεγεν (He was saying), “Διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this) εἴρηκα (have I said) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) οὐδεὶς (no one) δύναται (is able) ἐλθεῖν (to come) πρός (to) με (Me), ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) ᾖ (it shall) δεδομένον (have been granted) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father).”

¹⁷ ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) θέλῃ (desires) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ποιεῖν (to do), γνώσεται (he will know) περὶ (concerning) τῆς (the) διδαχῆς (teaching), πότερον (whether) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἐστιν (it is), ἢ (or) ἐγὼ (I) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμαυτοῦ (Myself) λαλῶ (speak).

¹⁴ Καί (And) τις (a certain) γυνὴ (woman) ὀνόματι (named) Λυδία (Lydia), πορφυρόπωλις (a seller of purple) πόλεως (of the city) Θυατείρων (of Thyatira), σεβομένη (worshiping) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), ἤκουεν (was listening), ἧς (of whom) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) διήνοιξεν (opened) τὴν (the) καρδίαν (heart) προσέχειν (to attend) τοῖς (to the things) λαλουμένοις (being spoken) ὑπὸ (by) ‹τοῦ› (-) Παύλου (Paul).

¹¹ οὗτοι (These) δὲ (now) ἦσαν (were) εὐγενέστεροι (more noble) τῶν (than those) ἐν (in) Θεσσαλονίκῃ (Thessalonica), οἵτινες (who) ἐδέξαντο (received) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) μετὰ (with) πάσης (all) προθυμίας (readiness), τὸ (on the) καθ’ (every) ἡμέραν (day) ἀνακρίνοντες (examining) τὰς (the) γραφὰς (Scriptures) εἰ (if) ἔχοι (were) ταῦτα (these things) οὕτως (so). ¹² πολλοὶ (Many) μὲν (indeed) οὖν (therefore) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them) ἐπίστευσαν (believed), καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) Ἑλληνίδων (Grecian) γυναικῶν (women) τῶν (-) εὐσχημόνων (prominent) καὶ (and) ἀνδρῶν (men) οὐκ (not) ὀλίγοι (a few).

²⁵ Τῷ (To Him) δὲ (now) δυναμένῳ (being able) ὑμᾶς (you) στηρίξαι (to strengthen), κατὰ (according to) τὸ (-) εὐαγγέλιόν (gospel) μου (my) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) κήρυγμα (preaching) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), κατὰ (according to) ἀποκάλυψιν (the revelation) μυστηρίου (of the mystery), χρόνοις (in times) αἰωνίοις (of the ages) σεσιγημένου (having been kept secret),

⁷ ἀλλὰ (But) λαλοῦμεν (we speak) Θεοῦ (of God) σοφίαν (wisdom) ἐν (in) μυστηρίῳ (a mystery), τὴν (-) ἀποκεκρυμμένην (having been hidden), ἣν (which) προώρισεν (foreordained) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) πρὸ (before) τῶν (the) αἰώνων (ages) εἰς (for) δόξαν (glory) ἡμῶν (of us),

⁹ ἀλλὰ (but) καθὼς (as) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ἃ (What) ὀφθαλμὸς (eye) οὐκ (not) εἶδεν (has seen), καὶ (and) οὖς (ear) οὐκ (not) ἤκουσεν (has heard), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (into) καρδίαν (heart) ἀνθρώπου (of man) οὐκ (not) ἀνέβη (has entered), ὅσα (what) ἡτοίμασεν (has prepared) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τοῖς (for those) ἀγαπῶσιν (loving) αὐτόν (Him).” ¹⁰ Ἡμῖν (To us) γὰρ (for) ἀπεκάλυψεν (has revealed it) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit). Τὸ (The) γὰρ (for) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) πάντα (all things) ἐραυνᾷ (searches), καὶ (even) τὰ (the) βάθη (depths) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹⁴ Ψυχικὸς (The natural) δὲ (however) ἄνθρωπος (man) οὐ (not) δέχεται (accepts) τὰ (the things) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); μωρία (foolishness) γὰρ (for) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐστίν (they are), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) δύναται (he is able) γνῶναι (to understand them), ὅτι (because) πνευματικῶς (spiritually) ἀνακρίνεται (they are discerned).

¹ Οὕτως (So) ἡμᾶς (us), λογιζέσθω (let regard) ἄνθρωπος (a man) ὡς (as) ὑπηρέτας (servants) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) καὶ (and) οἰκονόμους (stewards) μυστηρίων (of the mysteries) Θεοῦ (of God).

⁷ τίς (Who) γάρ (for) σε (you) διακρίνει (makes different)? τί (What) δὲ (now) ἔχεις (have you) ὃ (which) οὐκ (not) ἔλαβες (you did receive)? εἰ (If) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) ἔλαβες (you did receive it), τί (why) καυχᾶσαι (boast you) ὡς (as) μὴ (not) λαβών (having received it)?

² καὶ (And) ἐὰν (if) ἔχω (I should have) προφητείαν (prophecy) καὶ (and) εἰδῶ (understand) τὰ (the) μυστήρια (mysteries) πάντα (all), καὶ (and) πᾶσαν (all) τὴν (the) γνῶσιν (knowledge), καὶ (and) ἐὰν (if) ἔχω (I should have) πᾶσαν (all) τὴν (the) πίστιν (faith), ὥστε (so as) ὄρη (mountains) μεθιστάναι (to remove), ἀγάπην (love) δὲ (however) μὴ (not) ἔχω (have), οὐθέν (nothing) εἰμι (I am).

⁵¹ Ἰδοὺ (Behold), μυστήριον (a mystery) ὑμῖν (to you) λέγω (I tell). πάντες (All) οὐ (not) κοιμηθησόμεθα (we will sleep); πάντες (all) δὲ (however) ἀλλαγησόμεθα (we will be changed) —

⁹ γνωρίσας (having made known) ἡμῖν (to us) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τοῦ (of the) θελήματος (will) αὐτοῦ (of Him) κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) εὐδοκίαν (pleasure) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἣν (which) προέθετο (He purposed) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him)

¹⁸ πεφωτισμένους (being enlightened) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) τῆς (of the) καρδίας (heart) ὑμῶν (of you), εἰς (in order for) τὸ (-) εἰδέναι (to know) ὑμᾶς (you) τίς (what) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) ἐλπὶς (hope) τῆς (of the) κλήσεως (calling) αὐτοῦ (of Him), τίς (what) ὁ (are the) πλοῦτος (riches) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) τῆς (of the) κληρονομίας (inheritance) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) ἁγίοις (saints),

¹⁶ Καὶ (And) ὁμολογουμένως (confessedly), μέγα (great) ἐστὶν (is) τὸ (the) τῆς (-) εὐσεβείας (of godliness) μυστήριον (mystery): Ὃς (Who) ἐφανερώθη (was revealed) ἐν (in) σαρκί (the flesh), ἐδικαιώθη (was justified) ἐν (in) πνεύματι (the Spirit), ὤφθη (was seen) ἀγγέλοις (by angels), ἐκηρύχθη (was proclaimed) ἐν (among) ἔθνεσιν (the nations), ἐπιστεύθη (was believed on) ἐν (in) κόσμῳ (the world), ἀνελήμφθη (was taken up) ἐν (in) δόξῃ (glory).

⁵ Εἰ (If) δέ (now) τις (any) ὑμῶν (of you) λείπεται (lacks) σοφίας (wisdom), αἰτείτω (let him ask) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the One) διδόντος (giving), Θεοῦ (God), πᾶσιν (to all) ἁπλῶς (generously), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ὀνειδίζοντος (finding fault), καὶ (and) δοθήσεται (it will be given) αὐτῷ (to him).

¹⁶ Μὴ (Not) πλανᾶσθε (be misled), ἀδελφοί (brothers) μου (my) ἀγαπητοί (beloved). ¹⁷ πᾶσα (Every) δόσις (act of giving) ἀγαθὴ (good), καὶ (and) πᾶν (every) δώρημα (gift) τέλειον (perfect), ἄνωθέν (from above) ἐστιν (is), καταβαῖνον (coming down) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father) τῶν (-) φώτων (of lights), παρ’ (with) ᾧ (whom) οὐκ (not) ἔνι (there is) παραλλαγὴ (variation) ἢ (or) τροπῆς (of shifting) ἀποσκίασμα (shadow). ¹⁸ βουληθεὶς (Having willed it), ἀπεκύησεν (He brought forth) ἡμᾶς (us) λόγῳ (by the word) ἀληθείας (of truth), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) εἶναι (to be) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπαρχήν (firstfruits) τινα (a certain) τῶν (-) αὐτοῦ (of His) κτισμάτων (creatures).

²⁰ Καὶ (And) ὑμεῖς (you) χρῖσμα (the anointing) ἔχετε (have) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy One), καὶ (and) οἴδατε (know you) πάντες (all).

²⁷ καὶ (And) ὑμεῖς (you), τὸ (the) χρῖσμα (anointing) ὃ (that) ἐλάβετε (you received) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτοῦ (Him), μένει (abides) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) χρείαν (need) ἔχετε (you have) ἵνα (that) τις (anyone) διδάσκῃ (should teach) ὑμᾶς (you). ἀλλ’ (But) ὡς (just as) τὸ (the) αὐτοῦ (same) χρῖσμα (anointing) διδάσκει (teaches) ὑμᾶς (you) περὶ (concerning) πάντων (all things), καὶ (and) ἀληθές (true) ἐστιν (is), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ψεῦδος (a lie); καὶ (and) καθὼς (just as) ἐδίδαξεν (it has taught) ὑμᾶς (you), μένετε (you shall abide) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him).
