³⁹ καὶ (And) λαβόντες (having taking) αὐτὸν (him), ἐξέβαλον (they cast him) ἔξω (out of) τοῦ (the) ἀμπελῶνος (vineyard) καὶ (and) ἀπέκτειναν (killed him).

⁵⁰ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἑταῖρε (Friend), ἐφ’ (for) ὃ (what) πάρει (are you come)?” Τότε (Then) προσελθόντες (having come to him), ἐπέβαλον (they laid) τὰς (-) χεῖρας (hands) ἐπὶ (on) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) καὶ (and) ἐκράτησαν (seized) αὐτόν (Him).

⁵⁷ Οἱ (Those) δὲ (then) κρατήσαντες (having seized) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἀπήγαγον (led Him away) πρὸς (to) Καϊάφαν (Caiaphas), τὸν (the) ἀρχιερέα (high priest), ὅπου (where) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) συνήχθησαν (were assembled).

⁴⁶ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ἐπέβαλαν (they laid) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands) αὐτῷ (on Him) καὶ (and) ἐκράτησαν (seized) αὐτόν (Him). ⁴⁷ εἷς (One) δέ (then), τις (a certain) τῶν (of those) παρεστηκότων (standing by), σπασάμενος (having drawn) τὴν (the) μάχαιραν (sword), ἔπαισεν (struck) τὸν (the) δοῦλον (servant) τοῦ (of the) ἀρχιερέως (high priest) καὶ (and) ἀφεῖλεν (cut off) αὐτοῦ (of him) τὸ (the) ὠτάριον (ear). ⁴⁸ Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ὡς (As) ἐπὶ (against) λῃστὴν (a robber) ἐξήλθατε (are you come out) μετὰ (with) μαχαιρῶν (swords) καὶ (and) ξύλων (clubs) συλλαβεῖν (to capture) με (Me)? ⁴⁹ καθ’ (Every) ἡμέραν (day) ἤμην (I was) πρὸς (with) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἱερῷ (temple) διδάσκων (teaching), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἐκρατήσατέ (you did seize) με (Me). ἀλλ’ (But it is) ἵνα (that) πληρωθῶσιν (may be fulfilled) αἱ (the) γραφαί (Scriptures).” ⁵⁰ Καὶ (And) ἀφέντες (having left) αὐτὸν (Him), ἔφυγον (fled) πάντες (all). ⁵¹ Καὶ (And) νεανίσκος (a young man) τις (certain) συνηκολούθει (was following) αὐτῷ (Him), περιβεβλημένος (having cast) σινδόνα (a linen cloth) ἐπὶ (about) γυμνοῦ (his naked body); καὶ (and) κρατοῦσιν (they seize) αὐτόν (him), ⁵² ὁ (-) δὲ (and) καταλιπὼν (having left behind) τὴν (the) σινδόνα (linen cloth), γυμνὸς (naked) ἔφυγεν (he fled). ⁵³ Καὶ (And) ἀπήγαγον (they led away) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) ἀρχιερέα (high priest). καὶ (And) συνέρχονται (come together) πάντες (all) οἱ (the) ἀρχιερεῖς (chief priests), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes).

⁵² Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) πρὸς (to) τοὺς (those) παραγενομένους (having come out) ἐπ’ (against) αὐτὸν (Him), ἀρχιερεῖς (chief priests), καὶ (and) στρατηγοὺς (captains) τοῦ (of the) ἱεροῦ (temple), καὶ (and) πρεσβυτέρους (elders), “Ὡς (As) ἐπὶ (against) λῃστὴν (a robber) ἐξήλθατε (have you come out) μετὰ (with) μαχαιρῶν (swords) καὶ (and) ξύλων (clubs)? ⁵³ καθ’ (Every) ἡμέραν (day) ὄντος (being) μου (of Me) μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἱερῷ (temple), οὐκ (not) ἐξετείνατε (did you stretch out) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands) ἐπ’ (against) ἐμέ (Me); ἀλλ’ (but) αὕτη (this) ἐστὶν (is) ὑμῶν (of you) ἡ (the) ὥρα (hour), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἐξουσία (power) τοῦ (of the) σκότους (darkness).” ⁵⁴ Συλλαβόντες (Having seized) δὲ (then) αὐτὸν (Him), ἤγαγον (they led Him away), καὶ (and) εἰσήγαγον (led Him) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) οἰκίαν (house) τοῦ (of the) ἀρχιερέως (high priest). ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Πέτρος (Peter) ἠκολούθει (was following) μακρόθεν (afar off).

¹² Ἡ (-) οὖν (Then) σπεῖρα (the cohort) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) χιλίαρχος (commander) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ὑπηρέται (officers) τῶν (of the) Ἰουδαίων (Jews) συνέλαβον (took hold of) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) καὶ (and) ἔδησαν (bound) αὐτὸν (Him),

²⁴ Ἀπέστειλεν (Sent) οὖν (then) αὐτὸν (Him) ὁ (-) Ἅννας (Annas), δεδεμένον (bound), πρὸς (to) Καϊάφαν (Caiaphas) τὸν (the) ἀρχιερέα (high priest).

²³ τοῦτον (Him) τῇ (by the) ὡρισμένῃ (determinate) βουλῇ (plan) καὶ (and) προγνώσει (foreknowledge) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἔκδοτον (delivered up) διὰ (by) χειρὸς (hands) ἀνόμων (lawless), προσπήξαντες (having crucified), ἀνείλατε (You put to death),

¹⁴ ὑμεῖς (You) δὲ (however) τὸν (the) Ἅγιον (Holy) καὶ (and) Δίκαιον (Righteous One) ἠρνήσασθε (denied), καὶ (and) ᾐτήσασθε (requested) ἄνδρα (a man), φονέα (a murderer), χαρισθῆναι (to be granted) ὑμῖν (to you); ¹⁵ τὸν (-) δὲ (and) Ἀρχηγὸν (the Author) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) ἀπεκτείνατε (you killed), ὃν (whom) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἤγειρεν (has raised up) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), οὗ (whereof) ἡμεῖς (we) μάρτυρές (witnesses) ἐσμεν (are).

¹⁰ γνωστὸν (known) ἔστω (let it be) πᾶσιν (to all) ὑμῖν (you) καὶ (and) παντὶ (to all) τῷ (the) λαῷ (people) Ἰσραὴλ (of Israel) ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) τοῦ (of) Ναζωραίου (Nazareth), ὃν (whom) ὑμεῖς (you) ἐσταυρώσατε (crucified), ὃν (whom) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἤγειρεν (raised) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), ἐν (in) τούτῳ (Him) οὗτος (this man) παρέστηκεν (stands) ἐνώπιον (before) ὑμῶν (you) ὑγιής (sound).

²⁵ ὁ (-) τοῦ (of the) πατρὸς (father) ἡμῶν (of us) διὰ (by) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy) στόματος (through the mouth) Δαυὶδ (David) παιδός (servant) σου (of You) εἰπών (having spoken) Ἵνα‿ (-): ‘Τί (Why) ἐφρύαξαν (did rage) ἔθνη (the Gentiles), καὶ (and) λαοὶ (peoples) ἐμελέτησαν (did devise) κενά (vain things)? ²⁶ παρέστησαν (Took their stand) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἄρχοντες (rulers) συνήχθησαν (were gathered) ἐπὶ (together) τὸ (-) αὐτὸ (themselves) κατὰ (against) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) καὶ (and) κατὰ (against) τοῦ (the) Χριστοῦ (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him).’ ²⁷ Συνήχθησαν (Were gathered together) γὰρ (for) ἐπ’ (in) ἀληθείας (truth), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) πόλει (city) ταύτῃ (this), ἐπὶ (against) τὸν (the) ἅγιον (holy) Παῖδά (servant) σου (of You) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ὃν (whom) ἔχρισας (You anointed), Ἡρῴδης (Herod) τε (both) καὶ (and) Πόντιος (Pontius) Πιλᾶτος (Pilate), σὺν (with) ἔθνεσιν (the Gentiles) καὶ (and) λαοῖς (peoples) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel),

³⁰ ὁ (The) Θεὸς (God) τῶν (of the) πατέρων (fathers) ἡμῶν (of us) ἤγειρεν (raised up) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), ὃν (whom) ὑμεῖς (you) διεχειρίσασθε (killed), κρεμάσαντες (having hanged Him) ἐπὶ (on) ξύλου (a tree).

⁵² τίνα (Which) τῶν (of the) προφητῶν (prophets) οὐκ (not) ἐδίωξαν (did persecute) οἱ (the) πατέρες (fathers) ὑμῶν (of you)? καὶ (And) ἀπέκτειναν (they killed) τοὺς (those) προκαταγγείλαντας (having foretold) περὶ (about) τῆς (the) ἐλεύσεως (coming) τοῦ (of the) Δικαίου (Righteous One), οὗ (of whom) νῦν (now) ὑμεῖς (you) προδόται (betrayers) καὶ (and) φονεῖς (murderers) ἐγένεσθε (have become),

¹¹ Ὧν (Whose) γὰρ (for) εἰσφέρεται (is brought) ζῴων (of animals) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood as sacrifices) περὶ (for) ἁμαρτίας (sin), εἰς (into) τὰ (the) ἅγια (holy places) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) ἀρχιερέως (high priest); τούτων (of those) τὰ (the) σώματα (bodies) κατακαίεται (are burned) ἔξω (outside) τῆς (the) παρεμβολῆς (camp). ¹² διὸ (Therefore) καὶ (also) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ἵνα (so that) ἁγιάσῃ (he might sanctify) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) ἰδίου (own) αἵματος (blood) τὸν (the) λαόν (people), ἔξω (outside) τῆς (the) πύλης (gate) ἔπαθεν (suffered). ¹³ τοίνυν (Therefore) ἐξερχώμεθα (we should go forth) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (Him) ἔξω (outside) τῆς (the) παρεμβολῆς (camp), τὸν (the) ὀνειδισμὸν (reproach) αὐτοῦ (of Him) φέροντες (bearing).

⁶ κατεδικάσατε (You have condemned) ἐφονεύσατε (and have put to death) τὸν (the) δίκαιον (righteous); οὐκ (not) ἀντιτάσσεται (does he resist) ὑμῖν (you).
