⁴⁶ καὶ (And) ζητοῦντες (seeking) αὐτὸν (Him) κρατῆσαι (to lay hold of), ἐφοβήθησαν (they feared) τοὺς (the) ὄχλους (crowds), ἐπεὶ (because) εἰς (as) προφήτην (a prophet) αὐτὸν (Him) εἶχον (they were holding).

¹¹ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ὄχλοι (the crowds) ἔλεγον (were saying), “Οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) προφήτης (prophet), Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὁ (the One) ἀπὸ (from) Ναζαρὲθ (Nazareth) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (of Galilee).”

²⁶ ἐὰν (If) δὲ (however) εἴπωμεν (we should say), ‘Ἐξ (From) ἀνθρώπων (men),’ φοβούμεθα (we fear) τὸν (the) ὄχλον (multitude); πάντες (all) γὰρ (for) ὡς (as) προφήτην (a prophet) ἔχουσιν (hold) τὸν (-) Ἰωάννην (John).”

¹⁶ Ἔλαβεν (Seized) δὲ (then) φόβος (fear) πάντας (all), καὶ (and) ἐδόξαζον (they began glorifying) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), λέγοντες (saying) ὅτι (-), “Προφήτης (A prophet) μέγας (great) ἠγέρθη (has risen up) ἐν (among) ἡμῖν (us)!” καὶ (and) ὅτι (-), “Ἐπεσκέψατο (Has visited) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸν (the) λαὸν (people) αὐτοῦ (of Him)!”

³⁹ Ἰδὼν (Having seen) δὲ (now) ὁ (the) Φαρισαῖος (Pharisee), ὁ (the one) καλέσας (having invited) αὐτὸν (Him), εἶπεν (he spoke) ἐν (within) ἑαυτῷ (himself), λέγων (saying), “Οὗτος (This), εἰ (if) ἦν (He were) προφήτης (a prophet), ἐγίνωσκεν (would have known) ἂν (-) τίς (who) καὶ (and) ποταπὴ (what) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman is) ἥτις (who) ἅπτεται (touches) αὐτοῦ (Him), ὅτι (for) ἁμαρτωλός (a sinner) ἐστιν (she is).”

⁷ οὐ (Not) δύναται (is able) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) μισεῖν (to hate) ὑμᾶς (you); ἐμὲ (Me) δὲ (however) μισεῖ (it hates), ὅτι (because) ἐγὼ (I) μαρτυρῶ (bear witness) περὶ (concerning) αὐτοῦ (it) ὅτι (that) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) αὐτοῦ (of it) πονηρά (evil) ἐστιν (are).

⁴⁰ Ἐκ (Some of) τοῦ (the) ὄχλου (crowd) οὖν (therefore), ἀκούσαντες (having heard) τῶν (the) λόγων (words) τούτων (these), ἔλεγον (were saying) “Οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ἀληθῶς (truly) ὁ (the) προφήτης (Prophet).” ⁴¹ Ἄλλοι (Others) ἔλεγον (were saying), “Οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Χριστός (Christ).” Οἱ (Others) δὲ (however) ἔλεγον (were saying), “Μὴ (Not) γὰρ (indeed) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (Galilee) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἔρχεται (comes)?
