¹ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (was given) μοι (to me) κάλαμος (a measuring rod) ὅμοιος (like) ῥάβδῳ (a staff), λέγων (saying), “Ἔγειρε (Rise) καὶ (and) μέτρησον (measure) τὸν (the) ναὸν (temple) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) θυσιαστήριον (altar), καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) προσκυνοῦντας (worshiping) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (it). ² καὶ (And) τὴν (the) αὐλὴν (courtyard) τὴν (-) ἔξωθεν (outside) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple), ἔκβαλε (leave) ἔξωθεν (out), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) αὐτὴν (it) μετρήσῃς (measure), ὅτι (because) ἐδόθη (it has been given up) τοῖς (to the) ἔθνεσιν (nations), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) τὴν (-) ἁγίαν (holy) πατήσουσιν (they will trample upon) μῆνας (months) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) [καὶ] (and) δύο (two). ³ καὶ (And) δώσω (I will grant) τοῖς (to the) δυσὶν (two) μάρτυσίν (witnesses) μου (of me), καὶ (and) προφητεύσουσιν (they will prophesy) ἡμέρας (days) χιλίας (a thousand) διακοσίας (two hundred) ἑξήκοντα (sixty), περιβεβλημένοι (clothed in) σάκκους (sackcloth).” ⁴ Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) αἱ (the) δύο (two) ἐλαῖαι (olive trees) καὶ (and) αἱ (the) δύο (two) λυχνίαι (lampstands) αἱ (-) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) ἑστῶτες (standing). ⁵ καὶ (And) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) αὐτοὺς (them) θέλει (should desire) ἀδικῆσαι (to harm), πῦρ (fire) ἐκπορεύεται (goes out) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) κατεσθίει (devours) τοὺς (the) ἐχθροὺς (enemies) αὐτῶν (of them). καὶ (And) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) θελήσῃ (should desire) αὐτοὺς (them) ἀδικῆσαι (to harm), οὕτως (thus) δεῖ (it is necessary) αὐτὸν (for him) ἀποκτανθῆναι (to be killed). ⁶ οὗτοι (These) ἔχουσιν (have) τὴν (the) ἐξουσίαν (power) κλεῖσαι (to shut) τὸν (the) οὐρανόν (sky), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (no) ὑετὸς (rain) βρέχῃ (shall fall) τὰς (in the) ἡμέρας (days) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) ἐξουσίαν (power) ἔχουσιν (they have) ἐπὶ (over) τῶν (the) ὑδάτων (waters), στρέφειν (to turn) αὐτὰ (them) εἰς (into) αἷμα (blood), καὶ (and) πατάξαι (to strike) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) ἐν (with) πάσῃ (every) πληγῇ (plague), ὁσάκις (as often as) ἐὰν (if) θελήσωσιν (they might desire). ⁷ Καὶ (And) ὅταν (when) τελέσωσιν (they shall have completed) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) αὐτῶν (of them), τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) τὸ (-) ἀναβαῖνον (coming up) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ἀβύσσου (abyss) ποιήσει (will make) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them) πόλεμον (war), καὶ (and) νικήσει (will overcome) αὐτοὺς (them), καὶ (and) ἀποκτενεῖ (will kill) αὐτούς (them). ⁸ καὶ (And) τὸ (the) πτῶμα (body) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐπὶ (will be upon) τῆς (the) πλατείας (street) τῆς (of) πόλεως (city) τῆς (the) μεγάλης (great), ἥτις (which) καλεῖται (is called) πνευματικῶς (figuratively) Σόδομα (Sodom) καὶ (and) Αἴγυπτος (Egypt), ὅπου (where) καὶ (also) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐσταυρώθη (was crucified). ⁹ καὶ (And) βλέπουσιν (gaze) ἐκ (those of) τῶν (the) λαῶν (peoples) καὶ (and) φυλῶν (tribes) καὶ (and) γλωσσῶν (tongues) καὶ (and) ἐθνῶν (nations) τὸ (upon the) πτῶμα (bodies) αὐτῶν (of them), ἡμέρας (days) τρεῖς (three) καὶ (and) ἥμισυ (a half), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) πτώματα (bodies) αὐτῶν (of them) οὐκ (not) ἀφίουσιν (they will allow) τεθῆναι (to be put) εἰς (into) μνῆμα (a tomb). ¹⁰ καὶ (And) οἱ (those) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) χαίρουσιν (rejoice) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτοῖς (them) καὶ (and) εὐφραίνονται (make merry), καὶ (and) δῶρα (gifts) πέμψουσιν (will send) ἀλλήλοις (to one another), ὅτι (because) οὗτοι (these) οἱ (-) δύο (two) προφῆται (prophets) ἐβασάνισαν (have tormented) τοὺς (those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth). ¹¹ Καὶ (And) μετὰ (after) τὰς (the) τρεῖς (three) ἡμέρας (days) καὶ (and) ἥμισυ (a half), πνεῦμα (the spirit) ζωῆς (of life) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) εἰσῆλθεν (entered) ἐν (into) αὐτοῖς (them), καὶ (and) ἔστησαν (they stood) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) φόβος (fear) μέγας (great) ἐπέπεσεν (fell) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (those) θεωροῦντας (beholding) αὐτούς (them). ¹² καὶ (And) ἤκουσαν (they heard) φωνῆς (a voice) μεγάλης (great) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), λεγούσης (saying) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἀνάβατε (Come up) ὧδε (here).” καὶ (And) ἀνέβησαν (they went up) εἰς (to) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) νεφέλῃ (cloud); καὶ (and) ἐθεώρησαν (beheld) αὐτοὺς (them) οἱ (the) ἐχθροὶ (enemies) αὐτῶν (of them). ¹³ Καὶ (And) ἐν (in) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (-) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἐγένετο (there was) σεισμὸς (an earthquake) μέγας (great), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) δέκατον (tenth) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city) ἔπεσεν (fell), καὶ (and) ἀπεκτάνθησαν (were killed) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) σεισμῷ (earthquake), ὀνόματα (names) ἀνθρώπων (of men) χιλιάδες (thousand) ἑπτά (seven). καὶ (And) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (rest) ἔμφοβοι (terrified) ἐγένοντο (became) καὶ (and) ἔδωκαν (gave) δόξαν (glory) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) τοῦ (of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven). ¹⁴ Ἡ (The) Οὐαὶ (woe) ἡ (-) δευτέρα (second) ἀπῆλθεν (has passed). ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἡ (the) Οὐαὶ (woe) ἡ (-) τρίτη (third) ἔρχεται (is coming) ταχύ (quickly). ¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐγένοντο (there were) φωναὶ (voices) μεγάλαι (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἐγένετο (Has become) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world), τοῦ (that of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Χριστοῦ (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) βασιλεύσει (He will reign) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).” ¹⁶ Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) οἱ (-) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) καθήμενοι (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοὺς (the) θρόνους (thrones) αὐτῶν (of them) ἔπεσαν (fell) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (faces) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), ¹⁷ λέγοντες (saying): “Εὐχαριστοῦμέν (We give thanks) σοι (to You), Κύριε (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ὁ (the One) ὢν (being), καὶ (and) ὁ (who) ἦν (was), ὅτι (that) εἴληφας (You have taken) τὴν (the) δύναμίν (power) σου (of You) τὴν (-) μεγάλην (great), καὶ (and) ἐβασίλευσας (have begun to reign). ¹⁸ καὶ (And) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ὠργίσθησαν (were enraged), καὶ (and) ἦλθεν (came) ἡ (the) ὀργή (wrath) σου (of You), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) καιρὸς (time) τῶν (for the) νεκρῶν (dead) κριθῆναι (to be judged), καὶ (and) δοῦναι (to give) τὸν (the) μισθὸν (reward) τοῖς (to the) δούλοις (servants) σου (of You), τοῖς (the) προφήταις (prophets), καὶ (and) τοῖς (to the) ἁγίοις (saints), καὶ (and) τοῖς (to those) φοβουμένοις (fearing) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) σου (of You), τοὺς* (the) μικροὺς* (small) καὶ (and) τοὺς* (the) μεγάλους* (great), καὶ (and) διαφθεῖραι (to destroy) τοὺς (those who) διαφθείροντας (are destroying) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth).” ¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ἠνοίγη (was opened) ὁ (the) ναὸς (temple) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ὁ (-) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ὤφθη (was seen) ἡ (the) κιβωτὸς (ark) τῆς (of the) διαθήκης (covenant) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) αὐτοῦ (of Him). καὶ (And) ἐγένοντο (there were) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταὶ (thunders), καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake), καὶ (and) χάλαζα (hail) μεγάλη (great).

¹⁶ Οὐκ (Not) οἴδατε (know you) ὅτι (that) ναὸς (temple) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐστε (you yourselves are), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) «ἐν (in) ὑμῖν» (you) οἰκεῖ (dwells)? ¹⁷ εἴ (If) τις (anyone) τὸν (the) ναὸν (temple) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) φθείρει (destroys), φθερεῖ (will destroy) τοῦτον (him) ὁ (-) Θεός (God); ὁ (-) γὰρ (for) ναὸς (the temple) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἅγιός (holy) ἐστιν (is), οἵτινές (which) ἐστε (are) ὑμεῖς (you).

¹⁶ τίς (What) δὲ (now) συνκατάθεσις (agreement) ναῷ (the temple) Θεοῦ (of God) μετὰ (with) εἰδώλων (idols)? ἡμεῖς (We) γὰρ (for) ναὸς (the temple) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐσμεν (are), ζῶντος (the living), καθὼς (as) εἶπεν (has said) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ὅτι (-): “Ἐνοικήσω (I will dwell) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them), καὶ (and) ἐμπεριπατήσω* (will walk among them); καὶ (and) ἔσομαι (I will be) αὐτῶν (their) Θεός (God), καὶ (and) αὐτοὶ (they) ἔσονταί (will be) μου (to Me) λαός (a people).”

¹⁴ Ἐμοὶ (For me) δὲ (however), μὴ (never) γένοιτο (may it be) καυχᾶσθαι (to boast), εἰ (if) μὴ (never) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) σταυρῷ (cross) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), δι’ (through) οὗ (which) ἐμοὶ (to me) κόσμος (the world) ἐσταύρωται (has been crucified), κἀγὼ (and I) κόσμῳ (to the world). ¹⁵ οὔτε (Neither) γὰρ (for) περιτομή (circumcision) τί (anything) ἐστιν (is), οὔτε (nor) ἀκροβυστία (uncircumcision); ἀλλὰ (instead) καινὴ (a new) κτίσις (creation). ¹⁶ Καὶ (And) ὅσοι (as many as) τῷ (those who) κανόνι (rule) τούτῳ (by this) στοιχήσουσιν (will walk), εἰρήνη (peace be) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτοὺς (them), καὶ (and) ἔλεος (mercy); καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) Ἰσραὴλ (Israel) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

²⁰ ἐποικοδομηθέντες (having been built) ἐπὶ (upon) τῷ (the) θεμελίῳ (foundation) τῶν (of the) ἀποστόλων (apostles) καὶ (and) προφητῶν (prophets), ὄντος (being) ἀκρογωνιαίου (the cornerstone) αὐτοῦ (Himself) Χριστοῦ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), ²¹ ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) πᾶσα (the whole) οἰκοδομὴ (building), συναρμολογουμένη (being fitted together), αὔξει (is increasing) εἰς (into) ναὸν (a temple), ἅγιον (holy) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord), ²² ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you) συνοικοδομεῖσθε (are being built together) εἰς (for) κατοικητήριον (a habitation) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit).

⁵ καὶ (also) αὐτοὶ (you yourselves) ὡς (as) λίθοι (stones) ζῶντες (living), οἰκοδομεῖσθε (are being built up) οἶκος (as a house) πνευματικὸς (spiritual) εἰς (into) ἱεράτευμα (a priesthood) ἅγιον (holy), ἀνενέγκαι (to offer) πνευματικὰς (spiritual) θυσίας (sacrifices) εὐπροσδέκτους (acceptable) [τῷ] (-) Θεῷ (to God) διὰ (through) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ).

⁹ Ὑμεῖς (You) δὲ (however) γένος (are a race) ἐκλεκτόν (chosen), βασίλειον (a royal) ἱεράτευμα (priesthood), ἔθνος (a nation) ἅγιον (holy), λαὸς (a people) εἰς (for His) περιποίησιν (possession), ὅπως (so that) τὰς (the) ἀρετὰς (excellencies) ἐξαγγείλητε (you may proclaim) τοῦ (of the One) ἐκ (out of) σκότους (darkness) ὑμᾶς (you) καλέσαντος (having called), εἰς (to) τὸ (the) θαυμαστὸν (marvelous) αὐτοῦ (of Him) φῶς (light),

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἄλλον (another) ἄγγελον (angel) ἰσχυρὸν (mighty) καταβαίνοντα (coming down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), περιβεβλημένον (clothed with) νεφέλην (a cloud), καὶ (and) ἡ (a) ἶρις (rainbow) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) κεφαλὴν (head) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) πρόσωπον (face) αὐτοῦ (of him) ὡς (was like) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) αὐτοῦ (of him) ὡς (like) στῦλοι (pillars) πυρός (of fire), ² καὶ (and) ἔχων (having) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) χειρὶ (hand) αὐτοῦ (of him) βιβλαρίδιον (a little scroll) ἠνεῳγμένον (being open). καὶ (And) ἔθηκεν (he placed) τὸν (the) πόδα (foot) αὐτοῦ (of him) τὸν (-) δεξιὸν (right) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea), τὸν (the) δὲ (and) εὐώνυμον (left) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth). ³ καὶ (And) ἔκραξεν (he cried out) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud) ὥσπερ (as) λέων (a lion) μυκᾶται (roars). καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἔκραξεν (he cried out), ἐλάλησαν (sounded) αἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) βρονταὶ (thunders), τὰς (the) ἑαυτῶν (of themselves) φωνάς (voice). ⁴ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἐλάλησαν (had spoken) αἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) βρονταί (thunders), ἤμελλον (I was about) γράφειν (to write). καὶ (But) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (a voice) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), λέγουσαν (saying), “Σφράγισον (Seal) ἃ (what) ἐλάλησαν (have spoken) αἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) βρονταί (thunders), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) αὐτὰ (them) γράψῃς (write).” ⁵ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel) ὃν (whom) εἶδον (I saw) ἑστῶτα (standing) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (land) ἦρεν (lifted up) τὴν (the) χεῖρα (hand) αὐτοῦ (of him) τὴν (the) δεξιὰν (right) εἰς (to) τὸν (-) οὐρανόν (heaven),

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) λαλῶν (speaking) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (me) εἶχεν (had) μέτρον (a measuring) κάλαμον (reed) χρυσοῦν (golden), ἵνα (so that) μετρήσῃ (he could measure) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πυλῶνας (gates) αὐτῆς (of it), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) τεῖχος (wall) αὐτῆς (of it).

⁵ Τότε (Then) παραλαμβάνει (takes) αὐτὸν (Him) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) ἁγίαν (holy) πόλιν (city) καὶ (and) ἔστησεν (sets) αὐτὸν (Him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) πτερύγιον (pinnacle) τοῦ (of the) ἱεροῦ (temple),

¹³ Ὑμεῖς (You) ἐστε (are) τὸ (the) ἅλας (salt) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth); ἐὰν (if), δὲ (however), τὸ (the) ἅλας (salt) μωρανθῇ (becomes tasteless), ἐν (with) τίνι (what) ἁλισθήσεται (will it be salted). εἰς (For) οὐδὲν (nothing) ἰσχύει (it is potent) ἔτι (any longer), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) βληθὲν (having been cast) ἔξω (out), καταπατεῖσθαι (to be trampled upon) ὑπὸ (by) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men).

⁵³ καὶ (and) ἐξελθόντες (having gone forth) ἐκ (out of) τῶν (the) μνημείων (tombs) μετὰ (after) τὴν (the) ἔγερσιν (resurrection) αὐτοῦ (of Him), εἰσῆλθον (they entered) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἁγίαν (holy) πόλιν (city) καὶ (and) ἐνεφανίσθησαν (appeared) πολλοῖς (to many).

²⁴ καὶ (And) πεσοῦνται (they will fall) στόματι (by the edge) μαχαίρης (of the sword), καὶ (and) αἰχμαλωτισθήσονται (will be led captive) εἰς (into) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations); πάντα (all) καὶ (and) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem) ἔσται (will be) πατουμένη (trodden down) ὑπὸ (by) ἐθνῶν (the Gentiles), ἄχρι (until) οὗ (that) πληρωθῶσιν (are fulfilled) καιροὶ (the times) ἐθνῶν (of the Gentiles).

³ μή (No) τις (one) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐξαπατήσῃ (should deceive) κατὰ (in) μηδένα (not one) τρόπον (way), ὅτι (because it is) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not until) ἔλθῃ (shall have come) ἡ (the) ἀποστασία (apostasy) πρῶτον (first), καὶ (and) ἀποκαλυφθῇ (shall have been revealed) ὁ (the) ἄνθρωπος (man) τῆς (-) ἀνομίας (of lawlessness), ὁ (the) υἱὸς (son) τῆς (-) ἀπωλείας (of destruction), ⁴ ὁ (the one) ἀντικείμενος (opposing) καὶ (and) ὑπεραιρόμενος (exalting himself) ἐπὶ (above) πάντα (every) λεγόμενον (so-called) Θεὸν (god) ἢ (or) σέβασμα (object of worship), ὥστε (so as for) αὐτὸν (him) εἰς (in) τὸν (the) ναὸν (temple) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καθίσαι (to sit down), ἀποδεικνύντα (setting forth) ἑαυτὸν (he himself) ὅτι (that) ἔστιν (is) Θεός (God). ⁵ Οὐ (Not) μνημονεύετε (do you remember) ὅτι (that), ἔτι (yet) ὢν (being) πρὸς (with) ὑμᾶς (you), ταῦτα (these things) ἔλεγον (I was saying) ὑμῖν (to you)? ⁶ καὶ (And) νῦν (now) τὸ (that which) κατέχον (is restraining), οἴδατε (you know), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) ἀποκαλυφθῆναι (to be revealed) αὐτὸν (him) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) ἑαυτοῦ* (his) καιρῷ (time). ⁷ τὸ (The) γὰρ (for) μυστήριον (mystery) ἤδη (already) ἐνεργεῖται (is working) τῆς (-) ἀνομίας (of lawlessness); μόνον (only there is) ὁ (the one) κατέχων (restraining it) ἄρτι (at present) ἕως (until) ἐκ (out of) μέσου (the midst) γένηται (he might be gone). ⁸ καὶ (And) τότε (then) ἀποκαλυφθήσεται (will be revealed) ὁ (the) ἄνομος (lawless one), ὃν (whom) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἀνελεῖ (will slay) τῷ (with the) πνεύματι (breath) τοῦ (of the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) καταργήσει (will annul) τῇ (by the) ἐπιφανείᾳ (appearing) τῆς (of the) παρουσίας (coming) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ⁹ οὗ (whose) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (-) παρουσία (coming), κατ’ (according to) ἐνέργειαν (the working) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan), ἐν (in) πάσῃ (every) δυνάμει (power), καὶ (and) σημείοις (in signs), καὶ (and) τέρασιν (in wonders) ψεύδους (of falsehood), ¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (every) ἀπάτῃ (deceit) ἀδικίας (of wickedness) τοῖς (unto those) ἀπολλυμένοις (perishing), ἀνθ’ (in return for) ὧν (which) τὴν (the) ἀγάπην (love) τῆς (of the) ἀληθείας (truth) οὐκ (not) ἐδέξαντο (they received), εἰς (in order for) τὸ (-) σωθῆναι (to be saved) αὐτούς (them). ¹¹ καὶ (And) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), πέμπει (will send) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐνέργειαν (a working) πλάνης (of delusion), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) πιστεῦσαι (to believe) αὐτοὺς (them) τῷ (what) ψεύδει (is false), ¹² ἵνα (in order that) κριθῶσιν (should be judged) πάντες (all) οἱ (those) μὴ (not) πιστεύσαντες (having believed) τῇ (the) ἀληθείᾳ (truth), ἀλλὰ (but) εὐδοκήσαντες (having delighted) τῇ (-) ἀδικίᾳ (in unrighteousness).

¹ Τὸ (-) δὲ (But) πνεῦμα (the Spirit) ῥητῶς (expressly) λέγει (states) ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) ὑστέροις (later) καιροῖς (times), ἀποστήσονταί (will depart from) τινες (some) τῆς (the) πίστεως (faith), προσέχοντες (giving heed) πνεύμασιν (to spirits) πλάνοις (deceitful) καὶ (and) διδασκαλίαις (teachings) δαιμονίων (of demons), ² ἐν (in) ὑποκρίσει (hypocrisy) ψευδολόγων (of speakers of lies), κεκαυστηριασμένων (having been seared) τὴν (in the) ἰδίαν (own) συνείδησιν (conscience), ³ κωλυόντων (forbidding) γαμεῖν (to marry), ἀπέχεσθαι (commanding to abstain) βρωμάτων (from foods) ἃ (that) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἔκτισεν (created) εἰς (for) μετάλημψιν (reception) μετὰ (with) εὐχαριστίας (thanksgiving) τοῖς (by the) πιστοῖς (faithful) καὶ (and) ἐπεγνωκόσι (those knowing) τὴν (the) ἀλήθειαν (truth).

¹ Τοῦτο (This) δὲ (however) γίνωσκε (realize), ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) ἐσχάταις (the last) ἡμέραις (days) ἐνστήσονται (will be present) καιροὶ (times) χαλεποί (difficult). ² ἔσονται (Will be) γὰρ (for) οἱ (-) ἄνθρωποι (men) φίλαυτοι (lovers of self), φιλάργυροι (lovers of money), ἀλαζόνες (boastful), ὑπερήφανοι (proud), βλάσφημοι (abusive), γονεῦσιν (to parents) ἀπειθεῖς (disobedient), ἀχάριστοι (ungrateful), ἀνόσιοι (unholy), ³ ἄστοργοι (unloving), ἄσπονδοι (implacable), διάβολοι (slanderous), ἀκρατεῖς (without self-control), ἀνήμεροι (savage), ἀφιλάγαθοι (without love of good), ⁴ προδόται (treacherous), προπετεῖς (reckless), τετυφωμένοι (puffed up), φιλήδονοι (lovers of pleasure) μᾶλλον (rather) ἢ (than) φιλόθεοι (lovers of God), ⁵ ἔχοντες (having) μόρφωσιν (a form) εὐσεβείας (of godliness) τὴν (-) δὲ (but) δύναμιν (the power) αὐτῆς (of it) ἠρνημένοι (denying). καὶ (And) τούτους (these) ἀποτρέπου (turn away from). ⁶ Ἐκ (Out of) τούτων (this sort) γάρ (for) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (those) ἐνδύνοντες (entering) εἰς (into) τὰς (-) οἰκίας (households) καὶ (and) αἰχμαλωτίζοντες (taking captive) γυναικάρια (weak women), σεσωρευμένα (burdened) ἁμαρτίαις (with sins), ἀγόμενα (being led away) ἐπιθυμίαις (by passions) ποικίλαις (various),

²⁹ πόσῳ (How much) δοκεῖτε (think you) χείρονος (worse) ἀξιωθήσεται (will he deserve) τιμωρίας (punishment), ὁ (the one) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καταπατήσας (having trampled upon), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) τῆς (of the) διαθήκης (covenant) κοινὸν (ordinary) ἡγησάμενος (having esteemed), ἐν (by) ᾧ (which) ἡγιάσθη (he was sanctified), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τῆς (-) χάριτος (of grace) ἐνυβρίσας (having insulted)?

³ καὶ (And) δώσω (I will grant) τοῖς (to the) δυσὶν (two) μάρτυσίν (witnesses) μου (of me), καὶ (and) προφητεύσουσιν (they will prophesy) ἡμέρας (days) χιλίας (a thousand) διακοσίας (two hundred) ἑξήκοντα (sixty), περιβεβλημένοι (clothed in) σάκκους (sackcloth).”

⁶ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman) ἔφυγεν (fled) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἔρημον (wilderness), ὅπου (where) ἔχει (she has) ἐκεῖ (there) τόπον (a place) ἡτοιμασμένον (having been prepared) ἀπὸ (by) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), ἵνα (so that) ἐκεῖ (there) τρέφωσιν (they should nourish) αὐτὴν (her) ἡμέρας (days) χιλίας (one thousand) διακοσίας (two hundred) ἑξήκοντα (sixty).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) θηρίον (a beast) ἀναβαῖνον (rising), ἔχον (having) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτά (seven), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) κεράτων (horns) αὐτοῦ (of it), δέκα (ten) διαδήματα (royal crowns), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὀνόματα (names) βλασφημίας (of blasphemy). ² καὶ (And) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) ὃ (that) εἶδον (I saw) ἦν (was) ὅμοιον (like) παρδάλει (a leopard), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (like) ἄρκου (a bear’s), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) στόμα (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (like) στόμα (the mouth) λέοντος (of a lion). καὶ (And) ἔδωκεν (gave) αὐτῷ (to it) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) ἐξουσίαν (authority) μεγάλην (great). ³ Καὶ (And) μίαν (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) κεφαλῶν (heads) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (was as) ἐσφαγμένην (having been slain) εἰς (to) θάνατον (death). καὶ (And) ἡ (the) πληγὴ (wound) τοῦ (of) θανάτου (death) αὐτοῦ (of it) ἐθεραπεύθη (was healed), καὶ (and) ἐθαυμάσθη (marveled) ὅλη (all) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth) ὀπίσω (after) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast). ⁴ καὶ (And) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (the) δράκοντι (dragon), ὅτι (who) ἔδωκεν (had given) τὴν (-) ἐξουσίαν (authority) τῷ (to the) θηρίῳ (beast); καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (the) θηρίῳ (beast), λέγοντες (saying), “Τίς (Who) ὅμοιος (is like) τῷ (the) θηρίῳ (beast)? καὶ (And) τίς (who) δύναται (is able) πολεμῆσαι (to make war) μετ’ (against) αὐτοῦ (it)?” ⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) στόμα (a mouth) λαλοῦν (speaking) μεγάλα (great things) καὶ (and) βλασφημίας (blasphemy); καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἐξουσία (authority) ποιῆσαι (to act) μῆνας (months) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) [καὶ] (and) δύο (two). ⁶ καὶ (And) ἤνοιξεν (it opened) τὸ (the) στόμα (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of it) εἰς (unto) βλασφημίας (blasphemies) πρὸς (against) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), βλασφημῆσαι (to blaspheme) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) σκηνὴν (tabernacle) αὐτοῦ (of Him), τοὺς (those) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven) σκηνοῦντας (dwelling). ⁷ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ποιῆσαι (to make) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) ἁγίων (saints), καὶ (and) νικῆσαι (to overcome) αὐτούς (them). καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἐξουσία (authority) ἐπὶ (over) πᾶσαν (every) φυλὴν (tribe) καὶ (and) λαὸν (people) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαν (tongue) καὶ (and) ἔθνος (nation). ⁸ καὶ (And) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) αὐτὸν (it) πάντες (all) οἱ (-) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), οὗ (of whom) οὐ (not) γέγραπται (have been written) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (names) αὐτοῦ (of them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) τοῦ (-) ἐσφαγμένου (having been slain), ἀπὸ (from) καταβολῆς (the founding) κόσμου (of the world). ⁹ Εἴ (If) τις (anyone) ἔχει (has) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear). ¹⁰ “Εἴ (If) τις (anyone is to go) εἰς (into) αἰχμαλωσίαν (captivity), εἰς (into) αἰχμαλωσίαν (captivity) ὑπάγει (he goes); εἴ (If) τις (anyone) ἐν (with) μαχαίρῃ (the sword) ἀποκτανθῆναι* (is to be killed), 〈δεῖ〉 (it is necessary for) αὐτὸν (him) ἐν (by) μαχαίρῃ (the sword) ἀποκτανθῆναι (to be killed).” Ὧδέ (Here) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) ὑπομονὴ (endurance) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints). ¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἄλλο (another) θηρίον (beast) ἀναβαῖνον (rising) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) εἶχεν (it had) κέρατα (horns) δύο (two) ὅμοια (like) ἀρνίῳ (a lamb), καὶ (and) ἐλάλει (it was speaking) ὡς (like) δράκων (a dragon). ¹² καὶ (And) τὴν (the) ἐξουσίαν (authority) τοῦ (of the) πρώτου (first) θηρίου (beast) πᾶσαν (all) ποιεῖ (it exercises) ἐνώπιον (on behalf) αὐτοῦ (of it), καὶ (and) ποιεῖ (causes) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling), ἵνα (that) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) τὸ (-) πρῶτον (first), οὗ (of whom) ἐθεραπεύθη (had been healed) ἡ (the) πληγὴ (wound) τοῦ (-) θανάτου (fatal) αὐτοῦ (of it). ¹³ Καὶ (And) ποιεῖ (it works) σημεῖα (signs) μεγάλα (great), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (even) πῦρ (fire) ποιῇ (it should cause) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) καταβαίνειν (to come down) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) ἐνώπιον (in the presence) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men). ¹⁴ καὶ (And) πλανᾷ (it deceives) τοὺς (those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), διὰ (by reason of) τὰ (the) σημεῖα (signs) ἃ (that) ἐδόθη (were given) αὐτῷ (to it) ποιῆσαι (to perform) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast), λέγων (telling) τοῖς (those) κατοικοῦσιν (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) ποιῆσαι (to make) εἰκόνα (an image) τῷ (to the) θηρίῳ (beast) ὃς (that) ἔχει (has) τὴν (the) πληγὴν (wound) τῆς (of the) μαχαίρης (sword) καὶ (and) ἔζησεν (has lived). ¹⁵ καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to it) δοῦναι (to give) πνεῦμα (breath) τῇ (to the) εἰκόνι (image) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (also) λαλήσῃ (should speak) ἡ (the) εἰκὼν (image) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ποιήσῃ (should cause) ἵνα (that) ὅσοι (as many as) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) προσκυνήσωσιν (would worship) τῇ (the) εἰκόνι (image) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) ἀποκτανθῶσιν (would be killed). ¹⁶ Καὶ (And) ποιεῖ (it causes) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) μικροὺς (small) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) μεγάλους (great), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πλουσίους (rich) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πτωχούς (poor), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) ἐλευθέρους (free) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) δούλους (servants), ἵνα (that) δῶσιν (it should give) αὐτοῖς (them) χάραγμα (a mark) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) χειρὸς (hand) αὐτῶν (of them) τῆς (-) δεξιᾶς (right), ἢ (or) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead) αὐτῶν (of them), ¹⁷ καὶ (and) ἵνα (that) μή (no) τις (one) δύνηται (should be able) ἀγοράσαι (to buy) ἢ (or) πωλῆσαι (to sell), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) ἔχων (having) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) — τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), ἢ (or) τὸν (the) ἀριθμὸν (number) τοῦ (of the) ὀνόματος (name) αὐτοῦ (of it). ¹⁸ Ὧδε (Here) ἡ (the) σοφία (wisdom) ἐστίν (is). ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) νοῦν (understanding), ψηφισάτω (let him count) τὸν (the) ἀριθμὸν (number) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast); ἀριθμὸς (number) γὰρ (for) ἀνθρώπου (a man’s) ἐστίν (it is), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number is) αὐτοῦ (of it), ἑξακόσιοι (six hundred) ἑξήκοντα (sixty) ἕξ (six).

² καὶ (And) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) τὴν (-) ἁγίαν (holy), Ἰερουσαλὴμ (the Jerusalem) καινὴν (new), εἶδον (I saw) καταβαίνουσαν (coming down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), ἡτοιμασμένην (having been prepared) ὡς (as) νύμφην (a bride) κεκοσμημένην (having been adorned) τῷ (for the) ἀνδρὶ (husband) αὐτῆς (of her).

¹⁹ καὶ (And) ἐάν (if) τις (anyone) ἀφέλῃ (should take away) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (the) λόγων (words) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) ταύτης (this), ἀφελεῖ (will take away) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸ (the) μέρος (part) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) ξύλου (tree) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) πόλεως (city) τῆς (-) ἁγίας (holy), τῶν (of those) γεγραμμένων (having been written) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τούτῳ (this).

¹⁶ ἐὰν (If) δὲ (however) μὴ (not) ἀκούσῃ (he will hear), παράλαβε (take) μετὰ (with) σοῦ (you) ἔτι (more), ἕνα (one) ἢ (or) δύο (two), ἵνα (that) ‘Ἐπὶ (upon) στόματος (the testimony) δύο (of two) μαρτύρων (witnesses) ἢ (or) τριῶν (of three), σταθῇ (may be strengthened) πᾶν (every) ῥῆμα (word).’

²⁷ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰωάννης (John) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said), “Οὐ (Nothing) δύναται (is able) ἄνθρωπος (a man) λαμβάνειν (to receive), ‹οὐδὲ (nothing) ἓν› (one) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) ᾖ (it is) δεδομένον (given) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven).

²⁷ καὶ (Also) ὑμεῖς (you) δὲ (now) μαρτυρεῖτε (bear witness), ὅτι (because) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἐστε (you are).

³² Τοῦτον (This) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἀνέστησεν (has raised up) ὁ (-) Θεός (God), οὗ (whereof) πάντες (all) ἡμεῖς (we) ἐσμεν (are) μάρτυρες (witnesses).

¹⁵ τὸν (-) δὲ (and) Ἀρχηγὸν (the Author) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) ἀπεκτείνατε (you killed), ὃν (whom) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἤγειρεν (has raised up) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), οὗ (whereof) ἡμεῖς (we) μάρτυρές (witnesses) ἐσμεν (are).

³¹ ὃς (who) ὤφθη (appeared) ἐπὶ (for) ἡμέρας (days) πλείους (many) τοῖς (to those) συναναβᾶσιν (having come up with) αὐτῷ (Him) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (Galilee) εἰς (to) Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem), οἵτινες (who) νῦν (now) εἰσιν (are) μάρτυρες (witnesses) αὐτοῦ (of Him) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) λαόν (people).

²⁸ Καὶ (And) οὓς (some) μὲν (indeed) ἔθετο (has appointed) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἐκκλησίᾳ (church), πρῶτον (first) ἀποστόλους (apostles), δεύτερον (secondly) προφήτας (prophets), τρίτον (third) διδασκάλους (teachers), ἔπειτα (then) δυνάμεις (miracles), ἔπειτα (then) χαρίσματα (gifts) ἰαμάτων (of healing), ἀντιλήμψεις (helping), κυβερνήσεις (administrating), γένη (various kinds) γλωσσῶν (of tongues).

¹ Τρίτον (Third) τοῦτο (this time) ἔρχομαι (I am coming) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you). “Ἐπὶ (In the) στόματος (mouth) δύο (of two) μαρτύρων (witnesses) καὶ (or) τριῶν (three), σταθήσεται (will be established) πᾶν (every) ῥῆμα (matter).”

¹¹ Καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) ἔδωκεν (gave) τοὺς (some) μὲν (indeed) ἀποστόλους (to be apostles), τοὺς (some) δὲ (now) προφήτας (prophets), τοὺς (some) δὲ (now) εὐαγγελιστάς (evangelists), τοὺς (some) δὲ (now) ποιμένας (shepherds) καὶ (and) διδασκάλους (teachers),

⁵ καὶ (and) ἀπὸ (from) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ὁ (the) μάρτυς (witness) ὁ (-) πιστός (faithful), ὁ (the) πρωτότοκος (firstborn) τῶν (of the) νεκρῶν (dead) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἄρχων (ruler) τῶν (of the) βασιλέων (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth). Τῷ (To the One) ἀγαπῶντι (loving) ἡμᾶς (us) καὶ (and) λύσαντι (releasing) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ἁμαρτιῶν (sins) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐν (through) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) αὐτοῦ (of Him) —

² καὶ (And) τὴν (the) αὐλὴν (courtyard) τὴν (-) ἔξωθεν (outside) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple), ἔκβαλε (leave) ἔξωθεν (out), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) αὐτὴν (it) μετρήσῃς (measure), ὅτι (because) ἐδόθη (it has been given up) τοῖς (to the) ἔθνεσιν (nations), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) τὴν (-) ἁγίαν (holy) πατήσουσιν (they will trample upon) μῆνας (months) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) [καὶ] (and) δύο (two).

⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) στόμα (a mouth) λαλοῦν (speaking) μεγάλα (great things) καὶ (and) βλασφημίας (blasphemy); καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἐξουσία (authority) ποιῆσαι (to act) μῆνας (months) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) [καὶ] (and) δύο (two).

¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ἔπεσα (I fell) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) αὐτοῦ (of him) προσκυνῆσαι (to worship) αὐτῷ (him). καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Ὅρα (See that you) μή (not). σύνδουλός (A fellow servant) σού (with you) εἰμι (I am), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) σου (of you), τῶν (-) ἐχόντων (holding) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) προσκύνησον (worship)! ἡ (The) γὰρ (for) μαρτυρία (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) πνεῦμα (spirit) τῆς (-) προφητείας (of prophecy).”

⁴ ‹Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) θρόνους (thrones), καὶ (and) ἐκάθισαν (they sat) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτούς (them), καὶ (and) κρίμα (judgment) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτοῖς (to them), καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ψυχὰς (souls) τῶν (of those) πεπελεκισμένων (having been beheaded) διὰ (because of) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) καὶ (and) διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) οἵτινες (those who) οὐ (not) προσεκύνησαν (did worship) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), οὐδὲ (nor) τὴν (the) εἰκόνα (image) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔλαβον (did take) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) χεῖρα (hand) αὐτῶν (of them). καὶ (And) ἔζησαν (they lived) καὶ (and) ἐβασίλευσαν (reigned) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (-) χριστοῦ (Christ) χίλια (a thousand) ἔτη› (years).

¹⁴ Ὑμεῖς (You) ἐστε (are) τὸ (the) φῶς (light) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world). οὐ (Not) δύναται (is able) πόλις (a city) κρυβῆναι (to be hidden) ἐπάνω (on) ὄρους (a hill) κειμένη (lying). ¹⁵ οὐδὲ (Nor) καίουσιν (do they light) λύχνον (a lamp) καὶ (and) τιθέασιν (put) αὐτὸν (it) ὑπὸ (under) τὸν (-) μόδιον (a basket), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) λυχνίαν (lampstand), καὶ (and) λάμπει (it shines) πᾶσιν (for all) τοῖς (those) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) οἰκίᾳ (house). ¹⁶ οὕτως (Thus) λαμψάτω (let shine) τὸ (the) φῶς (light) ὑμῶν (of you) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men), ὅπως (so that) ἴδωσιν (they may see) ὑμῶν (your) τὰ (-) καλὰ (good) ἔργα (works), καὶ (and) δοξάσωσιν (they should glorify) τὸν (the) πατέρα (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) τὸν (-) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens).

³³ Οὐδεὶς (But no one) λύχνον (a lamp) ἅψας (having lit), εἰς (in) κρύπτην (secret) τίθησιν (sets it), οὐδὲ (nor) ὑπὸ (under) τὸν (the) μόδιον (basket), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) λυχνίαν (lampstand), ἵνα (that) οἱ (those) εἰσπορευόμενοι (entering in) τὸ (the) φέγγος (light) βλέπωσιν (may see).

¹⁷ Εἰ (If) δέ (however) τινες (some) τῶν (of the) κλάδων (branches) ἐξεκλάσθησαν (were broken off), σὺ (you) δὲ (now), ἀγριέλαιος (a wild olive tree) ὢν (being), ἐνεκεντρίσθης (were grafted in) ἐν (among) αὐτοῖς (them), καὶ (and) συνκοινωνὸς (a fellow-partaker) τῆς (of the) ῥίζης (root) τῆς (of the) πιότητος (fatness) τῆς (of the) ἐλαίας (olive tree) ἐγένου (have become),

²⁰ τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τῶν (of the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀστέρων (stars), οὓς (which) εἶδες (you saw) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) δεξιᾶς (right hand) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) λυχνίας (lampstands) τὰς (-) χρυσᾶς (golden): οἱ (The) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀστέρες (stars) ἄγγελοι (the angels) τῶν (of the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἐκκλησιῶν (churches) εἰσίν (are), καὶ (and) αἱ (the) λυχνίαι (lampstands) αἱ (-) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἑπτὰ (the seven) ἐκκλησίαι (churches) εἰσίν (are).

⁴ καὶ (And) πεσὼν (having fallen) ἐπὶ (on) τὴν (the) γῆν (ground), ἤκουσεν (he heard) φωνὴν (a voice) λέγουσαν (saying) αὐτῷ (to him), “Σαοὺλ (Saul), Σαούλ (Saul), τί (why) με (Me) διώκεις (do you persecute)?” ⁵ Εἶπεν (He said) δέ (then), “Τίς (Who) εἶ (are You), Κύριε (Lord)?” Ὁ (-) δέ (And He said), “Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὃν (whom) σὺ (you) διώκεις (are persecuting).

²⁵ ἐπ’ (In) ἀληθείας (truth) δὲ (now) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), πολλαὶ (many) χῆραι (widows) ἦσαν (there were) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἡμέραις (days) Ἠλίου (of Elijah) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) Ἰσραήλ (Israel), ὅτε (when) ἐκλείσθη (was shut up) ὁ (the) οὐρανὸς (heaven) ἐπὶ (for) ἔτη (years) τρία (three) καὶ (and) μῆνας (months) ἕξ (six), ὡς (when) ἐγένετο (there was) λιμὸς (a famine) μέγας (great) ἐπὶ (upon) πᾶσαν (all) τὴν (the) γῆν (land);

¹⁶ Ἐξομολογεῖσθε (Confess) οὖν (therefore) ἀλλήλοις (to one another) τὰς (the) ἁμαρτίας (sins), καὶ (and) εὔχεσθε* (pray) ὑπὲρ (for) ἀλλήλων (one another), ὅπως (so that) ἰαθῆτε (you may be healed). πολὺ (Much) ἰσχύει (prevails) δέησις (the prayer) δικαίου (of a righteous man) ἐνεργουμένη (being made effective). ¹⁷ Ἠλίας (Elijah) ἄνθρωπος (a man) ἦν (was) ὁμοιοπαθὴς (of like nature) ἡμῖν (to us), καὶ (and) προσευχῇ (with fervent prayer) προσηύξατο (he prayed for it) τοῦ (-) μὴ (not) βρέξαι (to rain), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔβρεξεν (it did rain) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) ἐνιαυτοὺς (years) τρεῖς (three) καὶ (and) μῆνας (months) ἕξ (six). ¹⁸ καὶ (And) πάλιν (again) προσηύξατο (he prayed), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) οὐρανὸς (heaven) ὑετὸν (rain) ἔδωκεν (gave), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth) ἐβλάστησεν (produced) τὸν (the) καρπὸν (fruit) αὐτῆς (of it).

³² Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Πορευθέντες (Having gone), εἴπατε (say) τῇ (to the) ἀλώπεκι (fox) ταύτῃ (that), ‘Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἐκβάλλω (I cast out) δαιμόνια (demons), καὶ (and) ἰάσεις (cures) ἀποτελῶ (I complete) σήμερον (today) καὶ (and) αὔριον (tomorrow), καὶ (and) τῇ (the) τρίτῃ (third day) τελειοῦμαι (I am perfected).’

⁴ ἐγώ (I) σε (You) ἐδόξασα (glorified) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) τελειώσας (having completed) ὃ (that) δέδωκάς (You have given) μοι (Me) ἵνα (that) ποιήσω (I should do).

³⁰ ὅτε (When) οὖν (therefore) ἔλαβεν (took) τὸ (the) ὄξος (sour wine) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), εἶπεν (He said), “Τετέλεσται (It has been finished).” καὶ (And) κλίνας (having bowed) τὴν (the) κεφαλὴν (head), παρέδωκεν (He yielded up) τὸ (the) πνεῦμα (spirit).

²⁴ ἀλλ’ (But) οὐδενὸς (not any) λόγου (account) ποιοῦμαι (I make) τὴν (my) ψυχὴν (life) τιμίαν (dear) ἐμαυτῷ (to myself), ὡς (so as) τελειῶσαι* (to finish) τὸν (the) δρόμον (course) μου (of me), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) διακονίαν (ministry) ἣν (that) ἔλαβον (I received) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), διαμαρτύρασθαι (to testify fully) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τῆς (of the) χάριτος (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

⁸ καὶ (And) τότε (then) ἀποκαλυφθήσεται (will be revealed) ὁ (the) ἄνομος (lawless one), ὃν (whom) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἀνελεῖ (will slay) τῷ (with the) πνεύματι (breath) τοῦ (of the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) καταργήσει (will annul) τῇ (by the) ἐπιφανείᾳ (appearing) τῆς (of the) παρουσίας (coming) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ⁹ οὗ (whose) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (-) παρουσία (coming), κατ’ (according to) ἐνέργειαν (the working) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan), ἐν (in) πάσῃ (every) δυνάμει (power), καὶ (and) σημείοις (in signs), καὶ (and) τέρασιν (in wonders) ψεύδους (of falsehood),

⁷ τὸν (The) καλὸν (good) ἀγῶνα (fight) ἠγώνισμαι (I have fought), τὸν (the) δρόμον (race) τετέλεκα (I have finished), τὴν (the) πίστιν (faith) τετήρηκα (I have kept).

¹ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πέμπτος (fifth) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) εἶδον (I saw) ἀστέρα (a star) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) πεπτωκότα (having fallen) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἡ (the) κλεὶς (key) τοῦ (of the) φρέατος (pit) τῆς (of the) ἀβύσσου (abyss). ² καὶ (And) ἤνοιξεν (he opened) τὸ (the) φρέαρ (pit) τῆς (of the) ἀβύσσου (abyss), καὶ (and) ἀνέβη (went up) καπνὸς (smoke) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) φρέατος (pit), ὡς (like) καπνὸς (the smoke) καμίνου (of a furnace) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἐσκοτώθη (were darkened) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἀὴρ (air) ἐκ (by) τοῦ (the) καπνοῦ (smoke) τοῦ (of the) φρέατος (pit).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) θηρίον (a beast) ἀναβαῖνον (rising), ἔχον (having) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτά (seven), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) κεράτων (horns) αὐτοῦ (of it), δέκα (ten) διαδήματα (royal crowns), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὀνόματα (names) βλασφημίας (of blasphemy). ² καὶ (And) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) ὃ (that) εἶδον (I saw) ἦν (was) ὅμοιον (like) παρδάλει (a leopard), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (like) ἄρκου (a bear’s), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) στόμα (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (like) στόμα (the mouth) λέοντος (of a lion). καὶ (And) ἔδωκεν (gave) αὐτῷ (to it) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) ἐξουσίαν (authority) μεγάλην (great). ³ Καὶ (And) μίαν (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) κεφαλῶν (heads) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (was as) ἐσφαγμένην (having been slain) εἰς (to) θάνατον (death). καὶ (And) ἡ (the) πληγὴ (wound) τοῦ (of) θανάτου (death) αὐτοῦ (of it) ἐθεραπεύθη (was healed), καὶ (and) ἐθαυμάσθη (marveled) ὅλη (all) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth) ὀπίσω (after) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast). ⁴ καὶ (And) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (the) δράκοντι (dragon), ὅτι (who) ἔδωκεν (had given) τὴν (-) ἐξουσίαν (authority) τῷ (to the) θηρίῳ (beast); καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (the) θηρίῳ (beast), λέγοντες (saying), “Τίς (Who) ὅμοιος (is like) τῷ (the) θηρίῳ (beast)? καὶ (And) τίς (who) δύναται (is able) πολεμῆσαι (to make war) μετ’ (against) αὐτοῦ (it)?”

⁷ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ποιῆσαι (to make) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) ἁγίων (saints), καὶ (and) νικῆσαι (to overcome) αὐτούς (them). καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἐξουσία (authority) ἐπὶ (over) πᾶσαν (every) φυλὴν (tribe) καὶ (and) λαὸν (people) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαν (tongue) καὶ (and) ἔθνος (nation).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἄλλο (another) θηρίον (beast) ἀναβαῖνον (rising) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) εἶχεν (it had) κέρατα (horns) δύο (two) ὅμοια (like) ἀρνίῳ (a lamb), καὶ (and) ἐλάλει (it was speaking) ὡς (like) δράκων (a dragon).

¹⁶ Καὶ (And) ποιεῖ (it causes) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) μικροὺς (small) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) μεγάλους (great), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πλουσίους (rich) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πτωχούς (poor), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) ἐλευθέρους (free) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) δούλους (servants), ἵνα (that) δῶσιν (it should give) αὐτοῖς (them) χάραγμα (a mark) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) χειρὸς (hand) αὐτῶν (of them) τῆς (-) δεξιᾶς (right), ἢ (or) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead) αὐτῶν (of them), ¹⁷ καὶ (and) ἵνα (that) μή (no) τις (one) δύνηται (should be able) ἀγοράσαι (to buy) ἢ (or) πωλῆσαι (to sell), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) ἔχων (having) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) — τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), ἢ (or) τὸν (the) ἀριθμὸν (number) τοῦ (of the) ὀνόματος (name) αὐτοῦ (of it).

⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (woman) μεθύουσαν (being drunk) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints), καὶ (and) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τῶν (of the) μαρτύρων (witnesses) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). Καὶ (And) ἐθαύμασα (I marveled), ἰδὼν (having seen) αὐτὴν (her), θαῦμα (with wonder) μέγα (great). ⁷ Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (said) μοι (to me) ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel), “Διὰ (Because of) τί (why) ἐθαύμασας (did you marvel)? ἐγὼ (I) ἐρῶ (will tell) σοι (you) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τῆς (of the) γυναικὸς (woman), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) τοῦ (-) βαστάζοντος (carrying) αὐτήν (her), τοῦ (-) ἔχοντος (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) κεφαλὰς (heads), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) δέκα (ten) κέρατα (horns). ⁸ Τὸ (The) θηρίον (beast) ὃ (that) εἶδες (you saw) ἦν (was), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is), καὶ (and) μέλλει (is about) ἀναβαίνειν (to come up) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ἀβύσσου (abyss) καὶ (and) εἰς (into) ἀπώλειαν (destruction) ὑπάγει (go); καὶ (and) θαυμασθήσονται (will wonder) οἱ (those) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), ὧν (whose) οὐ (not) γέγραπται (are written) τὸ (-) ὄνομα (names) ἐπὶ (in) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) ἀπὸ (from) καταβολῆς (the foundation) κόσμου (of the world), βλεπόντων (seeing) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) ὅτι (which) ἦν (was), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is), καὶ (and yet) παρέσται (will be).

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) αὐτῶν (of them), συνηγμένα (having been gathered together) ποιῆσαι (to make) τὸν (-) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) καὶ (and) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) στρατεύματος (army) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ²⁰ καὶ (And) ἐπιάσθη (was captured) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) ὁ (the) ψευδοπροφήτης (false prophet), ὁ (the one) ποιήσας (having done) τὰ (the) σημεῖα (signs) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (him), ἐν (by) οἷς (which) ἐπλάνησεν (he deceived) τοὺς (those) λαβόντας (having received) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) προσκυνοῦντας (worshiping) τῇ (the) εἰκόνι (image) αὐτοῦ (of it), ζῶντες (living) ἐβλήθησαν (were cast) οἱ (the) δύο (two) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρὸς (of fire), τῆς (-) καιομένης (burning) ἐν (with) θείῳ (brimstone).

¹⁵ ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀνεκτότερον (More tolerable) ἔσται (it will be) γῇ (for the land) Σοδόμων (of Sodom) καὶ (and) Γομόρρων (of Gomorrah) ἐν (on) ἡμέρᾳ (day) κρίσεως (of judgment), ἢ (than) τῇ (the) πόλει (city) ἐκείνῃ (for that).

³³ πλὴν (But) δεῖ (it behooves) με (Me) σήμερον (today) καὶ (and) αὔριον (tomorrow) καὶ (and) τῇ (the day) ἐχομένῃ (following) πορεύεσθαι (to proceed); ὅτι (for) οὐκ (not) ἐνδέχεται (it is possible for) προφήτην (a prophet) ἀπολέσθαι (to perish) ἔξω (outside of) Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem). ³⁴ Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem), Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem), ἡ (-) ἀποκτείνουσα (killing) τοὺς (the) προφήτας (prophets), καὶ (and) λιθοβολοῦσα (stoning) τοὺς (those) ἀπεσταλμένους (having been sent) πρὸς (to) αὐτήν (her), ποσάκις (how often) ἠθέλησα (I have wanted) ἐπισυνάξαι (to gather) τὰ (those) τέκνα (children) σου (of you), ὃν (that) τρόπον (way) ὄρνις (a hen gathers) τὴν (-) ἑαυτῆς (her) νοσσιὰν (brood) ὑπὸ (under) τὰς (the) πτέρυγας (wings), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἠθελήσατε (you were willing).

⁴ καὶ (And) πεσὼν (having fallen) ἐπὶ (on) τὴν (the) γῆν (ground), ἤκουσεν (he heard) φωνὴν (a voice) λέγουσαν (saying) αὐτῷ (to him), “Σαοὺλ (Saul), Σαούλ (Saul), τί (why) με (Me) διώκεις (do you persecute)?”

⁶ καὶ (and then) παραπεσόντας (having fallen away) — πάλιν (again) ἀνακαινίζειν (to restore them) εἰς (to) μετάνοιαν (repentance), ἀνασταυροῦντας (crucifying) ἑαυτοῖς (in themselves) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) παραδειγματίζοντας (subjecting Him to open shame).

¹² διὸ (Therefore) καὶ (also) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ἵνα (so that) ἁγιάσῃ (he might sanctify) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) ἰδίου (own) αἵματος (blood) τὸν (the) λαόν (people), ἔξω (outside) τῆς (the) πύλης (gate) ἔπαθεν (suffered).

⁶ καὶ (and) πόλεις (the cities) Σοδόμων (of Sodom) καὶ (and) Γομόρρας (Gomorrah) τεφρώσας (having reduced to ashes), καταστροφῇ (to destruction) κατέκρινεν (He condemned them), ὑπόδειγμα (an example) μελλόντων (of what is coming on) ‹ἀσεβέσιν› (the ungodly) τεθεικώς (having set);

⁷ ὡς (just as) Σόδομα (Sodom) καὶ (and) Γόμορρα (Gomorrah) καὶ (and) αἱ (the) περὶ (around) αὐτὰς (them) πόλεις (cities), τὸν (-) ὅμοιον (in like) τρόπον (manner) τούτοις (with them) ἐκπορνεύσασαι (having indulged in sexual immorality) καὶ (and) ἀπελθοῦσαι (having gone) ὀπίσω (after) σαρκὸς (flesh) ἑτέρας (strange), πρόκεινται (are set forth as) δεῖγμα (an example) πυρὸς (of fire) αἰωνίου (eternal) δίκην (the penalty) ὑπέχουσαι (undergoing).

⁹ καὶ (And) βλέπουσιν (gaze) ἐκ (those of) τῶν (the) λαῶν (peoples) καὶ (and) φυλῶν (tribes) καὶ (and) γλωσσῶν (tongues) καὶ (and) ἐθνῶν (nations) τὸ (upon the) πτῶμα (bodies) αὐτῶν (of them), ἡμέρας (days) τρεῖς (three) καὶ (and) ἥμισυ (a half), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) πτώματα (bodies) αὐτῶν (of them) οὐκ (not) ἀφίουσιν (they will allow) τεθῆναι (to be put) εἰς (into) μνῆμα (a tomb).

¹³ Καὶ (And) ἐν (in) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (-) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἐγένετο (there was) σεισμὸς (an earthquake) μέγας (great), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) δέκατον (tenth) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city) ἔπεσεν (fell), καὶ (and) ἀπεκτάνθησαν (were killed) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) σεισμῷ (earthquake), ὀνόματα (names) ἀνθρώπων (of men) χιλιάδες (thousand) ἑπτά (seven). καὶ (And) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (rest) ἔμφοβοι (terrified) ἐγένοντο (became) καὶ (and) ἔδωκαν (gave) δόξαν (glory) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) τοῦ (of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven).

⁸ Καὶ (And) ἄλλος (another) ἄγγελος (angel), δεύτερος (a second) ἠκολούθησεν (followed), λέγων (saying), “Ἔπεσεν (Fallen), ἔπεσεν (Fallen is) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great), ἣ (who) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (-) θυμοῦ (of wrath) τῆς (for the) πορνείας (immorality) αὐτῆς (of her), πεπότικεν (she has given to drink) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles).”

¹⁹ καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (was split) ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great) εἰς (into) τρία (three) μέρη (parts), καὶ (and) αἱ (the) πόλεις (cities) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations) ἔπεσαν (fell); καὶ (and) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great) ἐμνήσθη (was remembered) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), δοῦναι (to give) αὐτῇ (her) τὸ (the) ποτήριον (cup) τοῦ (of the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (fury) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹ Καὶ (And) ἦλθεν (came) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλων (angels) τῶν (-) ἐχόντων (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls), καὶ (and) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (me), λέγων (saying), “Δεῦρο (Come here), δείξω (I will show) σοι (you) τὸ (the) κρίμα (punishment) τῆς (of the) πόρνης (prostitute) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), τῆς (the one) καθημένης (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) ὑδάτων (waters) πολλῶν (many),

⁵ καὶ (And) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead) αὐτῆς (of her) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (was written), μυστήριον (a mystery): ΒΑΒΥΛΩΝ (Babylon) Ο* (the) ΜΕΓΑΛΗ (Great), Ο* (the) ΜΗΤΗΡ (mother) ΤΩΝ (of the) ΠΟΡΝΩΝ (prostitutes), ΚΑΙ (and) ΤΩΝ (of the) ΒΔΕΛΥΓΜΑΤΩΝ (abominations) ΤΗΣ (of the) ΓΗΣ (earth).

² καὶ (And) ἔκραξεν (he cried out) ἐν (in) ἰσχυρᾷ (a mighty) φωνῇ (voice), λέγων (saying): “Ἔπεσεν (Fallen), ἔπεσεν (Fallen is) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great)! καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (she has become) κατοικητήριον (a habitation) δαιμονίων (of demons), καὶ (and) φυλακὴ (a prison) παντὸς (of every) πνεύματος (spirit) ἀκαθάρτου (unclean), καὶ (and) φυλακὴ (a prison) παντὸς (of every) ὀρνέου (bird) ἀκαθάρτου (unclean), ‹καὶ (and) φυλακὴ (a prison) παντὸς (of every) θηρίου (creature) ἀκαθάρτου› (unclean) καὶ (and) μεμισημένου (having been hated).

¹⁰ ἀπὸ (from) μακρόθεν (afar) ἑστηκότες (standing) διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) φόβον (fear) τοῦ (of the) βασανισμοῦ (torment) αὐτῆς (of her), λέγοντες (saying): “Οὐαὶ (Woe), οὐαί (woe), ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great), Βαβυλὼν (Babylon), ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) ἰσχυρά (strong)! ὅτι (For in) μιᾷ (one) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) κρίσις (judgment) σου (of you).”

¹⁸ καὶ (and) ἔκραζον (were crying out), βλέποντες (seeing) τὸν (the) καπνὸν (smoke) τῆς (of the) πυρώσεως (burning) αὐτῆς (of her), λέγοντες (saying), ‘Τίς (What is) ὁμοία (like) τῇ (the) πόλει (city) τῇ (-) μεγάλῃ (great)?’

²¹ Καὶ (And) ἦρεν (took up) εἷς (one) ἄγγελος (angel) ἰσχυρὸς (a mighty) λίθον (stone), ὡς (like) μύλινον (a millstone) μέγαν (great), καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (cast it) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea), λέγων (saying): “Οὕτως (Thus) ὁρμήματι (with violence) βληθήσεται (will be cast down) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great) πόλις (city), καὶ (and) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) εὑρεθῇ (shall be found) ἔτι (any longer).

²⁴ Καὶ (And) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (her) αἷμα (the blood) προφητῶν (of prophets) καὶ (and) ἁγίων (of saints) εὑρέθη (was found), καὶ (and) πάντων (of all) τῶν (those) ἐσφαγμένων (having been slain) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).

² ἐν (With) ᾧ (whatever) γὰρ (for) κρίματι (verdict) κρίνετε (you judge), κριθήσεσθε (you will be judged); καὶ (and) ἐν (with) ᾧ (whatever) μέτρῳ (measure) μετρεῖτε (you measure), μετρηθήσεται (it will be measured again) ὑμῖν (to you).

⁸ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἔλαβεν (He had taken) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἔπεσαν (fell down) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), ἔχοντες (having) ἕκαστος (each) κιθάραν (a harp) καὶ (and) φιάλας (bowls) χρυσᾶς (golden) γεμούσας (being full) θυμιαμάτων (of incenses), αἵ (which) εἰσιν (are) αἱ (the) προσευχαὶ (prayers) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) λέγουσίν (they say) μοι (to me), “Δεῖ (It is necessary) σε (for you) πάλιν (again) προφητεῦσαι (to prophesy) ἐπὶ (concerning) λαοῖς (peoples), καὶ (and) ἔθνεσιν (nations), καὶ (and) γλώσσαις (tongues), καὶ (and) βασιλεῦσιν (kings) πολλοῖς (many).”

² καὶ (And) τὴν (the) αὐλὴν (courtyard) τὴν (-) ἔξωθεν (outside) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple), ἔκβαλε (leave) ἔξωθεν (out), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) αὐτὴν (it) μετρήσῃς (measure), ὅτι (because) ἐδόθη (it has been given up) τοῖς (to the) ἔθνεσιν (nations), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) τὴν (-) ἁγίαν (holy) πατήσουσιν (they will trample upon) μῆνας (months) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) [καὶ] (and) δύο (two). ³ καὶ (And) δώσω (I will grant) τοῖς (to the) δυσὶν (two) μάρτυσίν (witnesses) μου (of me), καὶ (and) προφητεύσουσιν (they will prophesy) ἡμέρας (days) χιλίας (a thousand) διακοσίας (two hundred) ἑξήκοντα (sixty), περιβεβλημένοι (clothed in) σάκκους (sackcloth).”

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Τὰ (The) ὕδατα (waters) ἃ (that) εἶδες (you saw), οὗ (where) ἡ (the) πόρνη (prostitute) κάθηται (sits), λαοὶ (peoples) καὶ (and) ὄχλοι (multitudes) εἰσὶν (are), καὶ (and) ἔθνη (nations) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαι (tongues).

¹⁷ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἕνα (one) ἄγγελον (angel) ἑστῶτα (standing) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἡλίῳ (sun), καὶ (and) ἔκραξεν (he cried out) ἐν (in) φωνῇ (a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγων (saying) πᾶσιν (to all) τοῖς (the) ὀρνέοις (birds) τοῖς (-) πετομένοις (flying) ἐν (in) μεσουρανήματι (mid-heaven), “Δεῦτε (Come), συνάχθητε (gather yourselves) εἰς (unto) τὸ (the) δεῖπνον (supper) τὸ (-) μέγα (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ¹⁸ ἵνα (so that) φάγητε (you may eat) σάρκας (the flesh) βασιλέων (of kings), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) χιλιάρχων (of commanders), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) ἰσχυρῶν (of mighty men), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) ἵππων (of horses) καὶ (and) τῶν (of those) καθημένων (sitting) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτῶν (them), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) πάντων (of all), ἐλευθέρων (free) τε (both) καὶ (and) δούλων (slaves), καὶ (and) μικρῶν (small) καὶ (and) μεγάλων (great).”

²² καὶ (And) ἔσεσθε (you will be) μισούμενοι (hated) ὑπὸ (by) πάντων (all) διὰ (on account of) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me); ὁ (the one) δὲ (however) ὑπομείνας (having endured) εἰς (to) τέλος (the end), οὗτος (he) σωθήσεται (will be saved).

⁷ οὐ (Not) δύναται (is able) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) μισεῖν (to hate) ὑμᾶς (you); ἐμὲ (Me) δὲ (however) μισεῖ (it hates), ὅτι (because) ἐγὼ (I) μαρτυρῶ (bear witness) περὶ (concerning) αὐτοῦ (it) ὅτι (that) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) αὐτοῦ (of it) πονηρά (evil) ἐστιν (are).

²⁰ ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly), λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) κλαύσετε (will weep) καὶ (and) θρηνήσετε (will lament) ὑμεῖς (you), ὁ (-) δὲ (but) κόσμος (the world) χαρήσεται (will rejoice). ὑμεῖς (You) λυπηθήσεσθε (will be grieved), ἀλλ’ (but) ἡ (the) λύπη (grief) ὑμῶν (of you) εἰς (to) χαρὰν (joy) γενήσεται (will turn).

³³ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ἀκούσαντες (having heard), διεπρίοντο (they were cut to the heart) καὶ (and) ἐβούλοντο (were desiring) ἀνελεῖν (to put to death) αὐτούς (them).

⁵⁴ Ἀκούοντες (Hearing) δὲ (now) ταῦτα (these things), διεπρίοντο (they were cut) ταῖς (in the) καρδίαις (hearts) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἔβρυχον (began gnashing) τοὺς (the) ὀδόντας (teeth) ἐπ’ (at) αὐτόν (him). ⁵⁵ ὑπάρχων (He being) δὲ (however) πλήρης (full) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), ἀτενίσας (having looked intently) εἰς (into) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven), εἶδεν (saw) δόξαν (the glory) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἑστῶτα (standing) ἐκ (at) δεξιῶν (the right hand) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ⁵⁶ καὶ (and) εἶπεν (he said), “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), θεωρῶ (I see) τοὺς (the) οὐρανοὺς (heavens) διηνοιγμένους (having been opened), καὶ (and) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ἐκ (at) δεξιῶν (the right hand) ἑστῶτα (standing) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).” ⁵⁷ Κράξαντες (Having cried out) δὲ (then) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), συνέσχον (they held) τὰ (the) ὦτα (ears) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ὥρμησαν (rushed) ὁμοθυμαδὸν (with one accord) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτόν (him),

⁵ Ζηλώσαντες (Having become jealous) δὲ (now) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews), καὶ (and) προσλαβόμενοι (having taken to them) τῶν (of the) ἀγοραίων (market-loungers) ἄνδρας (men) τινὰς (certain) πονηροὺς (wicked), καὶ (and) ὀχλοποιήσαντες (having collected a crowd), ἐθορύβουν (they set in uproar) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city); καὶ (and) ἐπιστάντες (having assailed) τῇ (the) οἰκίᾳ (house) Ἰάσονος (of Jason), ἐζήτουν (they were seeking) αὐτοὺς (them) προαγαγεῖν (to bring out) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) δῆμον (people). ⁶ μὴ (Not) εὑρόντες (having found) δὲ (however) αὐτοὺς (them), ἔσυρον (they dragged) Ἰάσονα (Jason) καί (and) τινας (certain) ἀδελφοὺς (brothers) ἐπὶ (before) τοὺς (the) πολιτάρχας (city authorities), βοῶντες (crying out) ὅτι (-), “Οἱ (The ones) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (world) ἀναστατώσαντες (having upset), οὗτοι (these) καὶ (also) ἐνθάδε (here) πάρεισιν (are come),

⁶ οὐ (not) χαίρει (delights) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (-) ἀδικίᾳ (unrighteousness), συνχαίρει (rejoices) δὲ (however) τῇ (in the) ἀληθείᾳ (truth).

¹⁰ Ὅτι (Because) ἐτήρησας (you have kept) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τῆς (of the) ὑπομονῆς (patient endurance) μου (of Me), κἀγώ (I also) σε (you) τηρήσω (will keep) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ὥρας (hour) τοῦ (of the) πειρασμοῦ (trial) τῆς (-) μελλούσης (being about) ἔρχεσθαι (to come) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) οἰκουμένης (inhabited world) ὅλης (whole), πειράσαι (to try) τοὺς (those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).

⁵ καὶ (And) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) αὐτοὺς (them) θέλει (should desire) ἀδικῆσαι (to harm), πῦρ (fire) ἐκπορεύεται (goes out) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) κατεσθίει (devours) τοὺς (the) ἐχθροὺς (enemies) αὐτῶν (of them). καὶ (And) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) θελήσῃ (should desire) αὐτοὺς (them) ἀδικῆσαι (to harm), οὕτως (thus) δεῖ (it is necessary) αὐτὸν (for him) ἀποκτανθῆναι (to be killed). ⁶ οὗτοι (These) ἔχουσιν (have) τὴν (the) ἐξουσίαν (power) κλεῖσαι (to shut) τὸν (the) οὐρανόν (sky), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (no) ὑετὸς (rain) βρέχῃ (shall fall) τὰς (in the) ἡμέρας (days) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) ἐξουσίαν (power) ἔχουσιν (they have) ἐπὶ (over) τῶν (the) ὑδάτων (waters), στρέφειν (to turn) αὐτὰ (them) εἰς (into) αἷμα (blood), καὶ (and) πατάξαι (to strike) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) ἐν (with) πάσῃ (every) πληγῇ (plague), ὁσάκις (as often as) ἐὰν (if) θελήσωσιν (they might desire).

¹³ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) εἶδεν (saw) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ὅτι (that) ἐβλήθη (he had been thrown down) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), ἐδίωξεν (he pursued) τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (woman) ἥτις (who) ἔτεκεν (had brought forth) τὸν (the) ἄρσενα (male child).

⁸ καὶ (And) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) αὐτὸν (it) πάντες (all) οἱ (-) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), οὗ (of whom) οὐ (not) γέγραπται (have been written) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (names) αὐτοῦ (of them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) τοῦ (-) ἐσφαγμένου (having been slain), ἀπὸ (from) καταβολῆς (the founding) κόσμου (of the world).

¹⁴ καὶ (And) πλανᾷ (it deceives) τοὺς (those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), διὰ (by reason of) τὰ (the) σημεῖα (signs) ἃ (that) ἐδόθη (were given) αὐτῷ (to it) ποιῆσαι (to perform) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast), λέγων (telling) τοῖς (those) κατοικοῦσιν (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) ποιῆσαι (to make) εἰκόνα (an image) τῷ (to the) θηρίῳ (beast) ὃς (that) ἔχει (has) τὴν (the) πληγὴν (wound) τῆς (of the) μαχαίρης (sword) καὶ (and) ἔζησεν (has lived).

¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πέμπτος (fifth) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ἐγένετο (became) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) αὐτοῦ (of it) ἐσκοτωμένη (darkened), καὶ (and) ἐμασῶντο (they were gnawing) τὰς (the) γλώσσας (tongues) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐκ (for) τοῦ (the) πόνου (distress),

⁵ Ἀκούων (Hearing) δὲ (now) ὁ (-) Ἁνανίας (Ananias) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τούτους (these), πεσὼν (having fallen down), ἐξέψυξεν (he breathed his last). καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (came) φόβος (fear) μέγας (great) ἐπὶ (upon) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) ἀκούοντας (hearing).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (came) φόβος (fear) μέγας (great) ἐφ’ (upon) ὅλην (all) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church) καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) ἀκούοντας (hearing) ταῦτα (these things).

² ὁ (-) γὰρ (For) νόμος (the law) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) τῆς (of) ζωῆς (life) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ἠλευθέρωσέν (has set free) σε (you) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) νόμου (law) τῆς (-) ἁμαρτίας (of sin) καὶ (and) τοῦ (-) θανάτου (of death).

¹¹ εἰ (If) δὲ (now) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τοῦ (of the One) ἐγείραντος (having raised up) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead) οἰκεῖ (dwells) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you), ὁ (the One) ἐγείρας (having raised up) «ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν» (the dead) Χριστὸν (Christ) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ζωοποιήσει (will give life) καὶ (also) τὰ (to the) θνητὰ (mortal) σώματα (bodies) ὑμῶν (of you), διὰ (on account of) τοῦ (-) ἐνοικοῦντος (dwelling) αὐτοῦ (His) Πνεύματος (Spirit) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you).

²³ καὶ (And) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) ᾅδῃ (Hades), ἐπάρας (having lifted up) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) αὐτοῦ (of him), ὑπάρχων (being) ἐν (in) βασάνοις (torment), ὁρᾷ (he sees) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) ἀπὸ (from) μακρόθεν (afar), καὶ (and) Λάζαρον (Lazarus) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) κόλποις (bosom) αὐτοῦ (of him).

⁹ Καὶ (And) ταῦτα (these things) εἰπὼν (having said), βλεπόντων (beholding) αὐτῶν (they), ἐπήρθη (He was taken up), καὶ (and) νεφέλη (a cloud) ὑπέλαβεν (hid) αὐτὸν (Him) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (the) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) αὐτῶν (of them).

³⁴ τίς (Who is) ὁ (the one) κατακρινῶν (condemning)? Χριστὸς (For it is Christ) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὁ (the one) ἀποθανών (having died), μᾶλλον (rather) δὲ (now) ἐγερθείς (having been raised up), ὅς (who) ‹καί› (also) ἐστιν (is) ἐν (at the) δεξιᾷ (right hand) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὃς (who) καὶ (and) ἐντυγχάνει (is interceding) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us). ³⁵ Τίς (Who) ἡμᾶς (us) χωρίσει (will separate) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ἀγάπης (love) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ)? θλῖψις (Tribulation), ἢ (or) στενοχωρία (distress), ἢ (or) διωγμὸς (persecution), ἢ (or) λιμὸς (famine), ἢ (or) γυμνότης (nakedness), ἢ (or) κίνδυνος (danger), ἢ (or) μάχαιρα (sword)? ³⁶ καθὼς (As) γέγραπται (it has been written) ὅτι (-): “Ἕνεκεν (For the sake) σοῦ (of you), θανατούμεθα (we face death) ὅλην (all) τὴν (the) ἡμέραν (day); ἐλογίσθημεν (we were regarded) ὡς (as) πρόβατα (sheep) σφαγῆς (of slaughter).” ³⁷ Ἀλλ’ (But) ἐν (in) τούτοις (these things) πᾶσιν (all), ὑπερνικῶμεν (we more than conquer) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the One) ἀγαπήσαντος (having loved) ἡμᾶς (us).

⁵ καὶ (even) ὄντας (being) ἡμᾶς (we) νεκροὺς (dead) τοῖς (-) παραπτώμασιν (in trespasses), συνεζωοποίησεν (made us alive with) τῷ (-) Χριστῷ (Christ) — χάριτί (by grace) ἐστε (you are) σεσῳσμένοι (saved) — ⁶ καὶ (and) συνήγειρεν (He raised us up together) καὶ (and) συνεκάθισεν (seated us together) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) ἐπουρανίοις (heavenly realms) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus),

¹⁷ ἔπειτα (Then) ἡμεῖς (we) οἱ (the) ζῶντες (living) οἱ (-) περιλειπόμενοι (remaining), ἅμα (together) σὺν (with) αὐτοῖς (them), ἁρπαγησόμεθα (will be caught away) ἐν (in) νεφέλαις (the clouds) εἰς (for) ἀπάντησιν (the meeting) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) εἰς (in) ἀέρα (the air); καὶ (and) οὕτως (so) πάντοτε (always) σὺν (with) Κυρίῳ (the Lord) ἐσόμεθα (we will be).

²¹ Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) καθίσαι (to sit) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἐν (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne) μου (of Me), ὡς (as) κἀγὼ (I also) ἐνίκησα (overcame) καὶ (and) ἐκάθισα (sat down) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me) ἐν (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), θύρα (a door) ἠνεῳγμένη (was standing open) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) φωνὴ (voice) ἡ (-) πρώτη (first) ἣν (that) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (like) σάλπιγγος (a trumpet) λαλούσης (was speaking) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (me), λέγων (saying), “Ἀνάβα (Come up) ὧδε (here), καὶ (and) δείξω (I will show) σοι (to you) ἃ (what) δεῖ (it behooves) γενέσθαι (to take place) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things).”

⁵ Καὶ (And) ἔτεκεν (she brought forth) υἱόν (a son) ἄρσεν (male), ὃς (who) μέλλει (is about) ποιμαίνειν (to rule) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron); καὶ (and) ἡρπάσθη (was caught up) τὸ (the) τέκνον (child) αὐτῆς (of her) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), καὶ (and) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἡμέραις (days) ταύταις (these), ἀναστὰς (having stood up) Πέτρος (Peter) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τῶν (of the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers), εἶπεν (he said)— ἦν (was) τε (then) ὄχλος (the number) ὀνομάτων (of names) ἐπὶ (together) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) ὡσεὶ (about) ἑκατὸν (a hundred) εἴκοσι (twenty)—

⁴ Ἀλλὰ (But) ἔχεις (you have) ὀλίγα (a few) ὀνόματα (people) ἐν (in) Σάρδεσιν (Sardis) ἃ (who) οὐκ (not) ἐμόλυναν (have soiled) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) περιπατήσουσιν (they will walk) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἐν (in) λευκοῖς (white), ὅτι (because) ἄξιοί (worthy) εἰσιν (they are).

¹² Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ὅτε (when) ἤνοιξεν (He opened) τὴν (the) σφραγῖδα (seal) τὴν (-) ἕκτην (sixth), καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake) μέγας (great) ἐγένετο (there was), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun) ἐγένετο (became) μέλας (black) ὡς (as) σάκκος (sackcloth) τρίχινος (of hair), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) σελήνη (moon) ὅλη (whole) ἐγένετο (became) ὡς (like) αἷμα (blood),

⁵ Καὶ (And) εἴληφεν (took) ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel) τὸν (the) λιβανωτόν (censer), καὶ (and) ἐγέμισεν (filled) αὐτὸν (it) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) πυρὸς (fire) τοῦ (of the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar), καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (cast it) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth); καὶ (and) ἐγένοντο (there were) βρονταὶ (thunders), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (rumblings), καὶ (and) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) σεισμός (an earthquake).

⁹ καὶ (and) ἀπέθανεν (died) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) κτισμάτων (creatures) τῶν (-) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) θαλάσσῃ (sea) τὰ (-) ἔχοντα (having) ψυχάς (life), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) πλοίων (ships) διεφθάρησαν (were destroyed). ¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) τρίτος (third) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἔπεσεν (fell) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἀστὴρ (a star) μέγας (great), καιόμενος (burning) ὡς (like) λαμπάς (a torch). καὶ (And) ἔπεσεν (it fell) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) ποταμῶν (rivers), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) πηγὰς (springs) τῶν (of) ὑδάτων (waters). ¹¹ καὶ (And) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) ἀστέρος (star) λέγεται (is called) Ὁ (-) Ἄψινθος (Wormwood). καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (became) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) ὑδάτων (waters) εἰς (into) ἄψινθον (wormwood), καὶ (and) πολλοὶ (many) τῶν (of the) ἀνθρώπων (men) ἀπέθανον (died) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ὑδάτων (waters), ὅτι (because) ἐπικράνθησαν (they were made bitter). ¹² Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) τέταρτος (fourth) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐπλήγη (was struck) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τοῦ (of the) ἡλίου (sun), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῆς (of the) σελήνης (moon), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) ἀστέρων (stars), ἵνα (so that) σκοτισθῇ (should be darkened) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἡμέρα (day) μὴ (not) φάνῃ (should appear for) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) αὐτῆς (of it), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) νὺξ (night) ὁμοίως (likewise).

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ἠνοίγη (was opened) ὁ (the) ναὸς (temple) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ὁ (-) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ὤφθη (was seen) ἡ (the) κιβωτὸς (ark) τῆς (of the) διαθήκης (covenant) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) αὐτοῦ (of Him). καὶ (And) ἐγένοντο (there were) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταὶ (thunders), καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake), καὶ (and) χάλαζα (hail) μεγάλη (great).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) θηρίον (a beast) ἀναβαῖνον (rising), ἔχον (having) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτά (seven), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) κεράτων (horns) αὐτοῦ (of it), δέκα (ten) διαδήματα (royal crowns), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὀνόματα (names) βλασφημίας (of blasphemy). ² καὶ (And) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) ὃ (that) εἶδον (I saw) ἦν (was) ὅμοιον (like) παρδάλει (a leopard), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (like) ἄρκου (a bear’s), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) στόμα (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (like) στόμα (the mouth) λέοντος (of a lion). καὶ (And) ἔδωκεν (gave) αὐτῷ (to it) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) ἐξουσίαν (authority) μεγάλην (great). ³ Καὶ (And) μίαν (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) κεφαλῶν (heads) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (was as) ἐσφαγμένην (having been slain) εἰς (to) θάνατον (death). καὶ (And) ἡ (the) πληγὴ (wound) τοῦ (of) θανάτου (death) αὐτοῦ (of it) ἐθεραπεύθη (was healed), καὶ (and) ἐθαυμάσθη (marveled) ὅλη (all) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth) ὀπίσω (after) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast).

⁷ λέγων (saying) ἐν (in) φωνῇ (a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), “Φοβήθητε (Fear) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), καὶ (and) δότε (give) αὐτῷ (Him) δόξαν (glory), ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) ὥρα (hour) τῆς (of the) κρίσεως (judgment) αὐτοῦ (of Him). καὶ (And) προσκυνήσατε (worship) τῷ (the One) ποιήσαντι (having made) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) θάλασσαν (sea), καὶ (and) πηγὰς (springs) ὑδάτων (of waters).”

⁴ τίς (Who) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) φοβηθῇ (should fear You), Κύριε (O Lord), καὶ (and) δοξάσει (will glorify) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) σου (of You)? ὅτι (For You) μόνος (alone are) ὅσιος (holy). ὅτι (For) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ἥξουσιν (will come) καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) ἐνώπιόν (before) σου (You), ὅτι (because) τὰ (the) δικαιώματά (righteous acts) σου (of You) ἐφανερώθησαν (have been revealed).”

⁹ καὶ (And) ἐκαυματίσθησαν (were scorched) οἱ (the) ἄνθρωποι (men) καῦμα (with heat) μέγα (great), καὶ (and) ἐβλασφήμησαν (they cursed) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ἔχοντος (having) τὴν (-) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἐπὶ (over) τὰς (the) πληγὰς (plagues) ταύτας (these); καὶ (and) οὐ (not) μετενόησαν (did they repent) δοῦναι (to give) αὐτῷ (Him) δόξαν (glory). ¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πέμπτος (fifth) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ἐγένετο (became) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) αὐτοῦ (of it) ἐσκοτωμένη (darkened), καὶ (and) ἐμασῶντο (they were gnawing) τὰς (the) γλώσσας (tongues) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐκ (for) τοῦ (the) πόνου (distress), ¹¹ καὶ (and) ἐβλασφήμησαν (they cursed) τὸν (the) Θεὸν (God) τοῦ (of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἐκ (on account of) τῶν (the) πόνων (distresses) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ἐκ (on account of) τῶν (the) ἑλκῶν (sores) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) οὐ (not) μετενόησαν (they did repent) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἔργων (works) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹⁸ Καὶ (And) ἐγένοντο (there were) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταί (thunders); καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake) ἐγένετο (there was) μέγας (great), οἷος (such as) οὐκ (not) ἐγένετο (had there been) ἀφ’ (since) οὗ (-) ἄνθρωπος (men) ἐγένετο (were) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), τηλικοῦτος (so great) σεισμὸς (was the earthquake), οὕτω (so) μέγας (mighty). ¹⁹ καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (was split) ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great) εἰς (into) τρία (three) μέρη (parts), καὶ (and) αἱ (the) πόλεις (cities) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations) ἔπεσαν (fell); καὶ (and) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great) ἐμνήσθη (was remembered) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), δοῦναι (to give) αὐτῇ (her) τὸ (the) ποτήριον (cup) τοῦ (of the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (fury) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

⁷ χαίρωμεν (We should rejoice) καὶ (and) ἀγαλλιῶμεν (should exult), καὶ (and) δώσομεν (will give) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτῷ (to Him), ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ὁ (the) γάμος (marriage) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (bride) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἡτοίμασεν (has made ready) ἑαυτήν (herself).

¹³ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἤκουσα (I heard) ἑνὸς (one) ἀετοῦ (eagle) πετομένου (flying) ἐν (in) μεσουρανήματι (mid-heaven), λέγοντος (saying) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), “Οὐαὶ (Woe)! οὐαὶ (Woe)! οὐαὶ (Woe) τοὺς (to those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), ἐκ (because of) τῶν (the) λοιπῶν (remaining) φωνῶν (voices) τῆς (of the) σάλπιγγος (trumpet) τῶν (of the) τριῶν (three) ἀγγέλων (angels) τῶν (-) μελλόντων (being about) σαλπίζειν (to sound their trumpets)!”

¹² Ἡ (-) Οὐαὶ (Woe) ἡ (the) μία (first) ἀπῆλθεν (has passed). ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἔρχεται (are coming) ἔτι (still) δύο (two) Οὐαὶ (woes) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἄλλο (another) σημεῖον (sign) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), μέγα (great) καὶ (and) θαυμαστόν (wonderful), ἀγγέλους (angels) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἔχοντας (having) πληγὰς (plagues) ἑπτὰ (seven) — τὰς (the) ἐσχάτας (last), ὅτι (because) ἐν (in) αὐταῖς (them) ἐτελέσθη (was completed) ὁ (the) θυμὸς (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) μεγάλης (a loud) φωνῆς (voice) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple) λεγούσης (saying) τοῖς (to the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλοις (angels), “Ὑπάγετε (Go) καὶ (and) ἐκχέετε (pour out) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth).” ² Καὶ (And) ἀπῆλθεν (departed) ὁ (the) πρῶτος (first), καὶ (and) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth); καὶ (and) ἐγένετο (came) ἕλκος (a sore), κακὸν (evil) καὶ (and) πονηρὸν (grievous), ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (the) ἀνθρώπους (men) τοὺς (-) ἔχοντας (having) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) προσκυνοῦντας (worshiping) τῇ (the) εἰκόνι (image) αὐτοῦ (of it). ³ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) δεύτερος (second) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea), καὶ (and) ἐγένετο (it became) αἷμα (blood), ὡς (as) νεκροῦ (of one dead); καὶ (and) πᾶσα (every) ψυχὴ (soul) ζωῆς (living) ἀπέθανεν (died) τὰ (that was) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) θαλάσσῃ (sea). ⁴ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) τρίτος (third) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) εἰς (into) τοὺς (the) ποταμοὺς (rivers) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) πηγὰς (springs) τῶν (of the) ὑδάτων (waters), καὶ (and) ἐγένετο (they became) αἷμα (blood). ⁵ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) τοῦ (the) ἀγγέλου (angel) τῶν (of the) ὑδάτων (waters) λέγοντος (saying): “Δίκαιος (Righteous) εἶ (are You), ὁ (the One) ὢν (being), καὶ (and) ὁ (-) ἦν (having been), ὁ (O) Ὅσιος (holy One), ὅτι (because) ταῦτα (these things) ἔκρινας (You have judged), ⁶ ὅτι (because) αἷμα (the blood) ἁγίων (of saints) καὶ (and) προφητῶν (of prophets) ἐξέχεαν (they have poured out), καὶ (and) αἷμα (blood) αὐτοῖς (to them) δέδωκας (You have given) πιεῖν* (to drink); ἄξιοί (worthy) εἰσιν (they are).” ⁷ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) τοῦ (the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar) λέγοντος (saying): “Ναί (Yes), Κύριε (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ἀληθιναὶ (true) καὶ (and) δίκαιαι (righteous are) αἱ (the) κρίσεις (judgments) σου (of You).” ⁸ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) τέταρτος (fourth) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) ἥλιον (sun), καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to it) καυματίσαι (to scorch) τοὺς (-) ἀνθρώπους (men) ἐν (with) πυρί (fire). ⁹ καὶ (And) ἐκαυματίσθησαν (were scorched) οἱ (the) ἄνθρωποι (men) καῦμα (with heat) μέγα (great), καὶ (and) ἐβλασφήμησαν (they cursed) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ἔχοντος (having) τὴν (-) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἐπὶ (over) τὰς (the) πληγὰς (plagues) ταύτας (these); καὶ (and) οὐ (not) μετενόησαν (did they repent) δοῦναι (to give) αὐτῷ (Him) δόξαν (glory). ¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πέμπτος (fifth) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ἐγένετο (became) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) αὐτοῦ (of it) ἐσκοτωμένη (darkened), καὶ (and) ἐμασῶντο (they were gnawing) τὰς (the) γλώσσας (tongues) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐκ (for) τοῦ (the) πόνου (distress), ¹¹ καὶ (and) ἐβλασφήμησαν (they cursed) τὸν (the) Θεὸν (God) τοῦ (of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἐκ (on account of) τῶν (the) πόνων (distresses) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ἐκ (on account of) τῶν (the) ἑλκῶν (sores) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) οὐ (not) μετενόησαν (they did repent) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἔργων (works) αὐτῶν (of them). ¹² Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕκτος (sixth) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) ποταμὸν (river) τὸν (-) μέγαν (great) ‹τὸν› (-) Εὐφράτην (Euphrates), καὶ (and) ἐξηράνθη (was dried up) τὸ (the) ὕδωρ (water) αὐτοῦ (of it), ἵνα (so that) ἑτοιμασθῇ (might be prepared) ἡ (the) ὁδὸς (way) τῶν (of the) βασιλέων (kings) τῶν (-) ἀπὸ (of the) ἀνατολῆς (rising) ἡλίου (of the sun). ¹³ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw coming) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) δράκοντος (dragon), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) ψευδοπροφήτου (false prophet), πνεύματα (spirits) τρία (three) ἀκάθαρτα (unclean), ὡς (like) βάτραχοι (frogs); ¹⁴ εἰσὶν (they are) γὰρ (for) πνεύματα (spirits) δαιμονίων (of demons) ποιοῦντα (performing) σημεῖα (signs), ἃ (which) ἐκπορεύεται (go forth) ἐπὶ (to) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) οἰκουμένης (inhabited world) ὅλης (whole), συναγαγεῖν (to gather together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) πόλεμον (battle) τῆς (of the) ἡμέρας (day) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty). ¹⁵ “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ὡς (like) κλέπτης (a thief). μακάριος (Blessed is) ὁ (the one) γρηγορῶν (watching) καὶ (and) τηρῶν (keeping) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) γυμνὸς (naked) περιπατῇ (he should walk) καὶ (and) βλέπωσιν (they might see) τὴν (the) ἀσχημοσύνην (shame) αὐτοῦ (of him).” ¹⁶ Καὶ (And) συνήγαγεν (he gathered together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) τὸν (-) καλούμενον (called) Ἑβραϊστὶ (in Hebrew) Ἁρ¦μαγεδών (Armageddon). ¹⁷ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) ἀέρα (air), καὶ (and) ἐξῆλθεν (came out) φωνὴ (a voice) μεγάλη (loud) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λέγουσα (saying), “Γέγονεν (It is done)!” ¹⁸ Καὶ (And) ἐγένοντο (there were) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταί (thunders); καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake) ἐγένετο (there was) μέγας (great), οἷος (such as) οὐκ (not) ἐγένετο (had there been) ἀφ’ (since) οὗ (-) ἄνθρωπος (men) ἐγένετο (were) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), τηλικοῦτος (so great) σεισμὸς (was the earthquake), οὕτω (so) μέγας (mighty). ¹⁹ καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (was split) ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great) εἰς (into) τρία (three) μέρη (parts), καὶ (and) αἱ (the) πόλεις (cities) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations) ἔπεσαν (fell); καὶ (and) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great) ἐμνήσθη (was remembered) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), δοῦναι (to give) αὐτῇ (her) τὸ (the) ποτήριον (cup) τοῦ (of the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (fury) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ²⁰ Καὶ (And) πᾶσα (every) νῆσος (island) ἔφυγεν (fled), καὶ (and) ὄρη (mountains) οὐχ (not) εὑρέθησαν (were to be found). ²¹ καὶ (And) χάλαζα (a hail) μεγάλη (great), ὡς (about) ταλαντιαία (a talent weight), καταβαίνει (comes down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (the) ἀνθρώπους (men). καὶ (And) ἐβλασφήμησαν (blasphemed) οἱ (the) ἄνθρωποι (men) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐκ (on account of) τῆς (the) πληγῆς (plague) τῆς (of the) χαλάζης (hail), ὅτι (for) μεγάλη (severe) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (the) πληγὴ (plague) αὐτῆς (of it) σφόδρα (exceedingly).

¹³ Καὶ (And) μὴ (not) εἰσενέγκῃς (lead) ἡμᾶς (us) εἰς (into) πειρασμόν (temptation), Ἀλλὰ (but) ῥῦσαι (deliver) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) πονηροῦ (evil).’

³³ καὶ (and) βασιλεύσει (He will reign) ἐπὶ (over) τὸν (the) οἶκον (house) Ἰακὼβ (of Jacob) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages); καὶ (and) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom) αὐτοῦ (of Him) οὐκ (not) ἔσται (there will be) τέλος (an end)!”

⁶ καὶ (And) ἐλθὼν (having come) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) οἶκον (house), συνκαλεῖ (he calls together) τοὺς (the) φίλους (friends) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) γείτονας (neighbors), λέγων (saying) αὐτοῖς (to them), ‘Συνχάρητέ (Rejoice with) μοι (me), ὅτι (for) εὗρον (I have found) τὸ (the) πρόβατόν (sheep) μου (of me), τὸ (the one) ἀπολωλός (having been lost)!’

¹⁰ οὕτως (Thus) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), γίνεται (there is) χαρὰ (joy) ἐνώπιον (before) τῶν (the) ἀγγέλων (angels) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐπὶ (over) ἑνὶ (one) ἁμαρτωλῷ (sinner) μετανοοῦντι (repenting).”

⁸ Πρὸς (Unto) δὲ (however) τὸν (the) Υἱόν (Son): “Ὁ (The) θρόνος (throne) σου (of You), ὁ (O) Θεὸς (God), εἰς (is to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age) τοῦ (of the) αἰῶνος (age), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ῥάβδος (scepter) τῆς (of) εὐθύτητος (righteousness is) ῥάβδος (the scepter) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom) σου* (of You).

² καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τοὺς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλους (angels) οἳ (who) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἑστήκασιν (stand), καὶ (and) ἐδόθησαν (were given) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἑπτὰ (seven) σάλπιγγες (trumpets). ³ Καὶ (And) ἄλλος (another) ἄγγελος (angel) ἦλθεν (came) καὶ (and) ἐστάθη (stood) ἐπὶ (at) τοῦ (the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar), ἔχων (having) λιβανωτὸν (a censer) χρυσοῦν (golden); καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to him) θυμιάματα (incense) πολλὰ (much), ἵνα (that) δώσει (he will offer it) ταῖς (with the) προσευχαῖς (prayers) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints) πάντων (all) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) θυσιαστήριον (altar) τὸ (-) χρυσοῦν (golden) τὸ (-) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne). ⁴ καὶ (And) ἀνέβη (went up) ὁ (the) καπνὸς (smoke) τῶν (of the) θυμιαμάτων (incense) ταῖς (with the) προσευχαῖς (prayers) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints) ἐκ (out of) χειρὸς (the hand) τοῦ (of the) ἀγγέλου (angel), ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God). ⁵ Καὶ (And) εἴληφεν (took) ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel) τὸν (the) λιβανωτόν (censer), καὶ (and) ἐγέμισεν (filled) αὐτὸν (it) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) πυρὸς (fire) τοῦ (of the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar), καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (cast it) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth); καὶ (and) ἐγένοντο (there were) βρονταὶ (thunders), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (rumblings), καὶ (and) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) σεισμός (an earthquake). ⁶ Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἄγγελοι (angels) οἱ (-) ἔχοντες (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) σάλπιγγας (trumpets) ἡτοίμασαν (prepared) αὑτοὺς (themselves) ἵνα (that) σαλπίσωσιν (they might sound the trumpets).

¹² Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) τέταρτος (fourth) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐπλήγη (was struck) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τοῦ (of the) ἡλίου (sun), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῆς (of the) σελήνης (moon), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) ἀστέρων (stars), ἵνα (so that) σκοτισθῇ (should be darkened) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἡμέρα (day) μὴ (not) φάνῃ (should appear for) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) αὐτῆς (of it), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) νὺξ (night) ὁμοίως (likewise).

¹ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πέμπτος (fifth) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) εἶδον (I saw) ἀστέρα (a star) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) πεπτωκότα (having fallen) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἡ (the) κλεὶς (key) τοῦ (of the) φρέατος (pit) τῆς (of the) ἀβύσσου (abyss).

¹³ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕκτος (sixth) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (voice) μίαν (one) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) κεράτων (horns) τοῦ (of the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar) τοῦ (-) χρυσοῦ (golden) τοῦ (-) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God),

⁷ ἀλλ’ (But) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἡμέραις (days) τῆς (of the) φωνῆς (voice) τοῦ (of the) ἑβδόμου (seventh) ἀγγέλου (angel), ὅταν (when) μέλλῃ (he is about) σαλπίζειν (to sound the trumpet), καὶ (then) ἐτελέσθη (would be completed) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὡς (as) εὐηγγέλισεν (proclaimed) τοὺς (the) ἑαυτοῦ (of Himself) δούλους (servants), τοὺς (the) προφήτας (prophets).”

¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (a voice) μεγάλην (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λέγουσαν (saying): “Ἄρτι (Now) ἐγένετο (have come) ἡ (the) σωτηρία (salvation), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἐξουσία (authority) τοῦ (the) Χριστοῦ (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ὅτι (because) ἐβλήθη (has been thrown down) ὁ (the) κατήγωρ (accuser) τῶν (of the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) ἡμῶν (of us), ὁ (the one) κατηγορῶν (accusing) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτός (night).

¹⁷ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) ἀέρα (air), καὶ (and) ἐξῆλθεν (came out) φωνὴ (a voice) μεγάλη (loud) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λέγουσα (saying), “Γέγονεν (It is done)!”

¹⁴ Οὗτοι (These) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) πολεμήσουσιν (war will make), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) νικήσει (will overcome) αὐτούς (them), ὅτι (because) Κύριος (Lord) κυρίων (of lords) ἐστὶν (He is), καὶ (and) Βασιλεὺς (King) βασιλέων (of kings); καὶ (and) οἱ (those) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him) κλητοὶ (are called) καὶ (and) ἐκλεκτοὶ (chosen) καὶ (and) πιστοί (faithful).”

¹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (something like) φωνὴν (a voice) μεγάλην (loud) ὄχλου (of a multitude) πολλοῦ (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λεγόντων (crying out): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! ἡ (The) σωτηρία (salvation) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δόξα (glory) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power) τοῦ (to the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us)!

⁶ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (something like) φωνὴν (the voice) ὄχλου (of a multitude) πολλοῦ (great), καὶ (and) ὡς (like) φωνὴν (the sound) ὑδάτων (of waters) πολλῶν (many), καὶ (and) ὡς (like) φωνὴν (a sound) βροντῶν (of thunders) ἰσχυρῶν (mighty), λεγόντων (saying): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! ὅτι (For) ἐβασίλευσεν (has reigned) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ἡμῶν (of us) ὁ (the) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty).

⁴ καὶ (And) κυκλόθεν (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), θρόνους (thrones) εἴκοσι (were twenty) τέσσαρες (four); καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τοὺς (the) θρόνους (thrones) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρας (four) πρεσβυτέρους (elders) καθημένους (sitting), περιβεβλημένους (having been clothed) ἐν (in) ἱματίοις (garments) λευκοῖς (white); καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτῶν (of them), στεφάνους (crowns) χρυσοῦς (golden).

¹⁰ πεσοῦνται (will fall) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τῷ (the One) ζῶντι (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), καὶ (and) βαλοῦσιν (they will cast) τοὺς (the) στεφάνους (crowns) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λέγοντες (saying):

⁵ Καὶ (And) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders) λέγει (says) μοι (to me), “Μὴ (Not) κλαῖε (do weep). ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἐνίκησεν (has overcome) ὁ (the) Λέων (Lion) ὁ (-) ἐκ (of) τῆς (the) φυλῆς (tribe) Ἰούδα (of Judah), ἡ (the) Ῥίζα (root) Δαυίδ (of David), ἀνοῖξαι (to open) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) σφραγῖδας (seals) αὐτοῦ (of it).” ⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τοῦ (of the) θρόνου (throne) καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τῶν (of the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), Ἀρνίον (a Lamb) ἑστηκὸς (standing) ὡς (as) ἐσφαγμένον (having been slain), ἔχων (having) κέρατα (horns) ἑπτὰ (seven) καὶ (and) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) ἑπτά (seven), οἵ (which) εἰσιν (are) τὰ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) Πνεύματα (Spirits) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἀπεσταλμένοι (having been sent out) εἰς (into) πᾶσαν (all) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth). ⁷ καὶ (And) ἦλθεν (He came) καὶ (and) εἴληφεν (took it) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) δεξιᾶς (right hand) τοῦ (of the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne). ⁸ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἔλαβεν (He had taken) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἔπεσαν (fell down) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), ἔχοντες (having) ἕκαστος (each) κιθάραν (a harp) καὶ (and) φιάλας (bowls) χρυσᾶς (golden) γεμούσας (being full) θυμιαμάτων (of incenses), αἵ (which) εἰσιν (are) αἱ (the) προσευχαὶ (prayers) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints).

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures) ἔλεγον (kept saying), “Ἀμήν (Amen).” καὶ (And) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἔπεσαν (fell down) καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) πάντες (all) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) εἱστήκεισαν (stood) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) ἔπεσαν (they fell) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (faces) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God),

⁴ Καὶ (And) ἔπεσαν (fell down) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) οἱ (-) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἀμήν (Amen), Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)!”

²⁵ Ἐν (At) ἐκείνῳ (that) τῷ (-) καιρῷ (time) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said), “Ἐξομολογοῦμαί (I fully consent) σοι (to You), Πάτερ (Father), Κύριε (Lord) τοῦ (of the) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) καὶ (and) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), ὅτι (that) ἔκρυψας (You did hide) ταῦτα (these things) ἀπὸ (from) σοφῶν (wise) καὶ (and) συνετῶν (learned), καὶ (and) ἀπεκάλυψας (did reveal) αὐτὰ (them) νηπίοις (to little children).

²¹ Ἐν (In) αὐτῇ (the same) τῇ (-) ὥρᾳ (hour), ἠγαλλιάσατο (He rejoiced) [ἐν] (in) τῷ (the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) τῷ (-) Ἁγίῳ (Holy) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said), “Ἐξομολογοῦμαί (I fully consent) σοι (to You), Πάτερ (Father), Κύριε (Lord) τοῦ (of the) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) καὶ (and) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), ὅτι (that) ἀπέκρυψας (You have hidden) ταῦτα (these things) ἀπὸ (from) σοφῶν (wise) καὶ (and) συνετῶν (intelligent), καὶ (and) ἀπεκάλυψας (have revealed) αὐτὰ (them) νηπίοις (to little children); ναί (yes), ὁ (-) Πατήρ (Father), ὅτι (for) οὕτως (thus) εὐδοκία (well-pleasing) ἐγένετο (was it) ἔμπροσθέν (before) σου (You).

⁴¹ Ἦραν (They took away) οὖν (therefore) τὸν (the) λίθον (stone). ὁ (-) δὲ (Now) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἦρεν (lifted) τοὺς (His) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) ἄνω (upwards) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said), “Πάτερ (Father), εὐχαριστῶ (I thank) σοι (You) ὅτι (that) ἤκουσάς (You have heard) μου (Me).

¹⁴ Τῷ (To) δὲ (however) Θεῷ (God) χάρις (be thanks), τῷ (the One) πάντοτε (always) θριαμβεύοντι (leading in triumph) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) Χριστῷ (Christ), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) ὀσμὴν (fragrance) τῆς (of the) γνώσεως (knowledge) αὐτοῦ (of Him) φανεροῦντι (making manifest) δι’ (through) ἡμῶν (us) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every) τόπῳ (place).

⁸ καὶ (And) τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures), ἓν (one) καθ’ (for) ἓν (one) αὐτῶν (of them) ἔχων (had) ἀνὰ (respectively) πτέρυγας (wings) ἕξ (six), κυκλόθεν (all around) καὶ (and) ἔσωθεν (within) γέμουσιν (full) ὀφθαλμῶν (of eyes); καὶ (and) ἀνάπαυσιν (rest) οὐκ (not) ἔχουσιν (they have) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἅγιος (Holy), ἅγιος (Holy), ἅγιος (Holy), Κύριος (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ὁ (the One) ἦν (having been), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) ὢν (being), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) ἐρχόμενος (coming).” ⁹ Καὶ (And) ὅταν (whenever) δώσουσιν (will give) τὰ (the) ζῷα (living creatures) δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) εὐχαριστίαν (thanksgiving) τῷ (to the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), τῷ (the One) ζῶντι (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages),

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐγένοντο (there were) φωναὶ (voices) μεγάλαι (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἐγένετο (Has become) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world), τοῦ (that of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Χριστοῦ (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) βασιλεύσει (He will reign) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).”

³ καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) τὴν (the) ᾠδὴν (song) Μωϋσέως (of Moses), τοῦ (the) δούλου (servant) τοῦ (of) Θεοῦ (God), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) ᾠδὴν (song) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), λέγοντες (saying): “Μεγάλα (Great) καὶ (and) θαυμαστὰ (wonderful are) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) σου (of You), Κύριε (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (the) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty)! δίκαιαι (Righteous) καὶ (and) ἀληθιναὶ (true are) αἱ (the) ὁδοί (ways) σου (of You), ὁ (O) Βασιλεὺς (King) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations)!

⁵ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) τοῦ (the) ἀγγέλου (angel) τῶν (of the) ὑδάτων (waters) λέγοντος (saying): “Δίκαιος (Righteous) εἶ (are You), ὁ (the One) ὢν (being), καὶ (and) ὁ (-) ἦν (having been), ὁ (O) Ὅσιος (holy One), ὅτι (because) ταῦτα (these things) ἔκρινας (You have judged),

⁷ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) τοῦ (the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar) λέγοντος (saying): “Ναί (Yes), Κύριε (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ἀληθιναὶ (true) καὶ (and) δίκαιαι (righteous are) αἱ (the) κρίσεις (judgments) σου (of You).”

¹⁴ εἰσὶν (they are) γὰρ (for) πνεύματα (spirits) δαιμονίων (of demons) ποιοῦντα (performing) σημεῖα (signs), ἃ (which) ἐκπορεύεται (go forth) ἐπὶ (to) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) οἰκουμένης (inhabited world) ὅλης (whole), συναγαγεῖν (to gather together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) πόλεμον (battle) τῆς (of the) ἡμέρας (day) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) ἠνεῳγμένον (having been opened), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἵππος (a horse) λευκός (white), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (it), καλούμενος (called) Πιστὸς (Faithful) καὶ (and) Ἀληθινός (True), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) κρίνει (He judges) καὶ (and) πολεμεῖ (makes war).

¹² χαίρετε (Rejoice) καὶ (and) ἀγαλλιᾶσθε (exult), ὅτι (for) ὁ (the) μισθὸς (reward) ὑμῶν (of you) πολὺς (is great) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens); οὕτως (thus) γὰρ (for) ἐδίωξαν (they persecuted) τοὺς (the) προφήτας (prophets) τοὺς (-) πρὸ (before) ὑμῶν (you).

⁵⁰ καὶ (And) τὸ (the) ἔλεος (mercy) αὐτοῦ (of Him) εἰς (is to) γενεὰς (generations) καὶ (and) γενεὰς (generations), τοῖς (to those) φοβουμένοις (fearing) αὐτόν (Him).

²⁷ Καὶ (And) καθ’ (in) ὅσον (as much as) ἀπόκειται (it is apportioned) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (to men) ἅπαξ (once) ἀποθανεῖν (to die), μετὰ (after) δὲ (then) τοῦτο (this) κρίσις (to face judgment),

²⁵ μᾶλλον (rather) ἑλόμενος (having chosen) συνκακουχεῖσθαι (to suffer affliction with) τῷ (the) λαῷ (people) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἢ (than) πρόσκαιρον (the temporary) ἔχειν (to have) ἁμαρτίας (of sin) ἀπόλαυσιν (enjoyment), ²⁶ μείζονα (greater) πλοῦτον (wealth) ἡγησάμενος (having esteemed) τῶν (than the) Αἰγύπτου (of Egypt) θησαυρῶν (treasures) τὸν (the) ὀνειδισμὸν (reproach) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ); ἀπέβλεπεν (he was looking) γὰρ (for) εἰς (toward) τὴν (the) μισθαποδοσίαν (reward).

¹⁰ καὶ (And) ἔκραξαν (they were crying) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγοντες (saying), “Ἕως (Until) πότε (when), ὁ (O) Δεσπότης (Lord), ὁ (-) ἅγιος (holy) καὶ (and) ἀληθινός (true), οὐ (not) κρίνεις (do You judge), καὶ (and) ἐκδικεῖς (avenge) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐκ (from) τῶν (those) κατοικούντων (dwelling) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth)?” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (were given) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἑκάστῳ (each) στολὴ (robes) λευκή (white), καὶ (and) ἐρρέθη (it was said) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἵνα (that) ἀναπαύσονται (they shall rest) ἔτι (yet) χρόνον (a time) μικρόν (little), ἕως (until) πληρωθῶσιν (would be fulfilled) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) σύνδουλοι (fellow servants) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἀδελφοὶ (brothers) αὐτῶν (of them), οἱ (those) μέλλοντες (being about) ἀποκτέννεσθαι (to be killed) ὡς (as) καὶ (also had been) αὐτοί (they).

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) μεγιστᾶνες (great ones), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) χιλίαρχοι (commanders), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πλούσιοι (rich), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἰσχυροὶ (powerful), καὶ (and) πᾶς (every) δοῦλος (slave) καὶ (and) ἐλεύθερος (free), ἔκρυψαν (hid) ἑαυτοὺς (themselves) εἰς (in) τὰ (the) σπήλαια (caves), καὶ (and) εἰς (among) τὰς (the) πέτρας (rocks) τῶν (of the) ὀρέων (mountains). ¹⁶ καὶ (And) λέγουσιν (they say) τοῖς (to the) ὄρεσιν (mountains) καὶ (and) ταῖς (to the) πέτραις (rocks), “Πέσετε (Fall) ἐφ’ (on) ἡμᾶς (us) καὶ (and) κρύψατε (hide) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπὸ (from) προσώπου (the face) τοῦ (of the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), ¹⁷ ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) ἡμέρα (day) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) αὐτῶν (of Them), καὶ (and) τίς (who) δύναται (is able) σταθῆναι (to stand)?”

⁹ καὶ (And) βλέπουσιν (gaze) ἐκ (those of) τῶν (the) λαῶν (peoples) καὶ (and) φυλῶν (tribes) καὶ (and) γλωσσῶν (tongues) καὶ (and) ἐθνῶν (nations) τὸ (upon the) πτῶμα (bodies) αὐτῶν (of them), ἡμέρας (days) τρεῖς (three) καὶ (and) ἥμισυ (a half), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) πτώματα (bodies) αὐτῶν (of them) οὐκ (not) ἀφίουσιν (they will allow) τεθῆναι (to be put) εἰς (into) μνῆμα (a tomb). ¹⁰ καὶ (And) οἱ (those) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) χαίρουσιν (rejoice) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτοῖς (them) καὶ (and) εὐφραίνονται (make merry), καὶ (and) δῶρα (gifts) πέμψουσιν (will send) ἀλλήλοις (to one another), ὅτι (because) οὗτοι (these) οἱ (-) δύο (two) προφῆται (prophets) ἐβασάνισαν (have tormented) τοὺς (those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).

¹⁰ “Εἴ (If) τις (anyone is to go) εἰς (into) αἰχμαλωσίαν (captivity), εἰς (into) αἰχμαλωσίαν (captivity) ὑπάγει (he goes); εἴ (If) τις (anyone) ἐν (with) μαχαίρῃ (the sword) ἀποκτανθῆναι* (is to be killed), 〈δεῖ〉 (it is necessary for) αὐτὸν (him) ἐν (by) μαχαίρῃ (the sword) ἀποκτανθῆναι (to be killed).” Ὧδέ (Here) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) ὑπομονὴ (endurance) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints).

¹⁰ καὶ (also) αὐτὸς (he) πίεται (will drink) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (anger) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (-) κεκερασμένου (having been mixed) ἀκράτου (undiluted) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ποτηρίῳ (cup) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) βασανισθήσεται (he will be tormented) ἐν (in) πυρὶ (fire) καὶ (and) θείῳ (brimstone), ἐνώπιον (before) ἀγγέλων (the angels) ἁγίων (holy), καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

⁷ Καὶ (And) ἓν (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures) ἔδωκεν (gave) τοῖς (to the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλοις (angels) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls) χρυσᾶς (golden) γεμούσας (full) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ζῶντος (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).

¹² καὶ (And) τὰ (the) δέκα (ten) κέρατα (horns) ἃ (which) εἶδες (you saw), δέκα (ten) βασιλεῖς (kings) εἰσιν (are), οἵτινες (who) βασιλείαν (a kingdom) οὔπω (not yet) ἔλαβον (have received), ἀλλὰ (but) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ὡς (as) βασιλεῖς (kings) μίαν (one) ὥραν (hour) λαμβάνουσιν (receive), μετὰ (along with) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast). ¹³ οὗτοι (These) μίαν (one) γνώμην (mind) ἔχουσιν (have), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) καὶ (and) ἐξουσίαν (authority) αὐτῶν (of themselves), τῷ (to the) θηρίῳ (beast) διδόασιν (they shall give up). ¹⁴ Οὗτοι (These) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) πολεμήσουσιν (war will make), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) νικήσει (will overcome) αὐτούς (them), ὅτι (because) Κύριος (Lord) κυρίων (of lords) ἐστὶν (He is), καὶ (and) Βασιλεὺς (King) βασιλέων (of kings); καὶ (and) οἱ (those) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him) κλητοὶ (are called) καὶ (and) ἐκλεκτοὶ (chosen) καὶ (and) πιστοί (faithful).” ¹⁵ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Τὰ (The) ὕδατα (waters) ἃ (that) εἶδες (you saw), οὗ (where) ἡ (the) πόρνη (prostitute) κάθηται (sits), λαοὶ (peoples) καὶ (and) ὄχλοι (multitudes) εἰσὶν (are), καὶ (and) ἔθνη (nations) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαι (tongues).

⁶ ἀπόδοτε (Give back) αὐτῇ (to her) ὡς (as) καὶ (also) αὐτὴ (she) ἀπέδωκεν (has rendered); καὶ (and) διπλώσατε (pay back double) τὰ (to her), διπλᾶ (twofold) κατὰ (according to) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) αὐτῆς (of her). ἐν (In) τῷ (the) ποτηρίῳ (cup) ᾧ (which) ἐκέρασεν (she has mixed), κεράσατε (mix) αὐτῇ (to her) διπλοῦν (double).

¹⁶ λέγοντες (saying): “Οὐαὶ (Woe), οὐαί (woe), ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great), ἡ (-) περιβεβλημένη (having been clothed with) βύσσινον (fine linen) καὶ (and) πορφυροῦν (purple) καὶ (and) κόκκινον (scarlet), καὶ (and) κεχρυσωμένη (having been adorned) ἐν (with) χρυσίῳ (gold) καὶ (and) λίθῳ (stone) τιμίῳ (precious) καὶ (and) μαργαρίτῃ (pearl)! ¹⁷ ὅτι (For in) μιᾷ (one) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἠρημώθη (has been brought to desolation) ὁ (-) τοσοῦτος (such great) πλοῦτος (wealth).” Καὶ (And) πᾶς (every) κυβερνήτης (shipmaster), καὶ (and) πᾶς (all) ὁ (those) ἐπὶ (to) τόπον (a place) πλέων (sailing), καὶ (and) ναῦται (sailors), καὶ (and) ὅσοι (as many as) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea) ἐργάζονται (trade by), ἀπὸ (at) μακρόθεν (a distance) ἔστησαν (stood), ¹⁸ καὶ (and) ἔκραζον (were crying out), βλέποντες (seeing) τὸν (the) καπνὸν (smoke) τῆς (of the) πυρώσεως (burning) αὐτῆς (of her), λέγοντες (saying), ‘Τίς (What is) ὁμοία (like) τῇ (the) πόλει (city) τῇ (-) μεγάλῃ (great)?’ ¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ἔβαλον (they cast) χοῦν (dust) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ἔκραζον (they were crying out), κλαίοντες (weeping) καὶ (and) πενθοῦντες (mourning), λέγοντες (saying): “Οὐαὶ (Woe), οὐαί (woe), ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great), ἐν (in) ᾗ (which) ἐπλούτησαν (were enriched) πάντες (all) οἱ (those) ἔχοντες (having) τὰ (-) πλοῖα (ships) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) θαλάσσῃ (sea) ἐκ (through) τῆς (the) τιμιότητος (wealth) αὐτῆς (of her)! ὅτι (For) μιᾷ (in one) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἠρημώθη (she has been brought to desolation).” ²⁰ “Εὐφραίνου (Rejoice) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτῇ (her), οὐρανέ (O heaven), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἅγιοι (you saints), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἀπόστολοι (apostles), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) προφῆται (prophets), ὅτι (because) ἔκρινεν (did judge) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸ (the) κρίμα (judgment) ὑμῶν (for you) ἐξ (against) αὐτῆς (her).” ²¹ Καὶ (And) ἦρεν (took up) εἷς (one) ἄγγελος (angel) ἰσχυρὸς (a mighty) λίθον (stone), ὡς (like) μύλινον (a millstone) μέγαν (great), καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (cast it) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea), λέγων (saying): “Οὕτως (Thus) ὁρμήματι (with violence) βληθήσεται (will be cast down) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great) πόλις (city), καὶ (and) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) εὑρεθῇ (shall be found) ἔτι (any longer). ²² καὶ (And) φωνὴ (sound) κιθαρῳδῶν (of harpists) καὶ (and) μουσικῶν (musicians), καὶ (and) αὐλητῶν (flute players) καὶ (and) σαλπιστῶν (trumpeters), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἀκουσθῇ (shall be heard) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer). καὶ (And) πᾶς (any) τεχνίτης (craftsmen) πάσης (of any) τέχνης (craft) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) εὑρεθῇ (shall be found) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer), καὶ (and) φωνὴ (the sound) μύλου (of a millstone) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἀκουσθῇ (shall be heard) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer). ²³ καὶ (And) φῶς (the light) λύχνου (of lamp), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) φάνῃ (shall shine) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer); καὶ (and) φωνὴ (the voice) νυμφίου (of a bridegroom) καὶ (and) νύμφης (a bride), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἀκουσθῇ (shall be heard) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer); ὅτι (for) οἱ (the) ἔμποροί (merchants) σου (of you) ἦσαν (were) οἱ (the) μεγιστᾶνες (great ones) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), ὅτι (because) ἐν (by) τῇ (the) φαρμακείᾳ (sorcery) σου (of you) ἐπλανήθησαν (were deceived) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations).” ²⁴ Καὶ (And) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (her) αἷμα (the blood) προφητῶν (of prophets) καὶ (and) ἁγίων (of saints) εὑρέθη (was found), καὶ (and) πάντων (of all) τῶν (those) ἐσφαγμένων (having been slain) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).

⁵ Καὶ (And) φωνὴ (a voice) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐξῆλθεν (came forth), λέγουσα (saying): “Αἰνεῖτε (Praise) τῷ (the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), πάντες (all) οἱ (the) δοῦλοι (servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ‹καὶ› (and) οἱ (those) φοβούμενοι (fearing) αὐτόν (Him), οἱ (the) μικροὶ (small) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) μεγάλοι (great)!”

¹⁵ καὶ (And) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐκπορεύεται (goes forth) ῥομφαία (a sword) ὀξεῖα (sharp), ἵνα (so that) ἐν (with) αὐτῇ (it) πατάξῃ (He may strike down) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations); καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (He) ποιμανεῖ (will shepherd) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron). καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) πατεῖ (treads) τὴν (the) ληνὸν (press) τοῦ (of the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (fury) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty).

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) αὐτῶν (of them), συνηγμένα (having been gathered together) ποιῆσαι (to make) τὸν (-) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) καὶ (and) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) στρατεύματος (army) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ²⁰ καὶ (And) ἐπιάσθη (was captured) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) ὁ (the) ψευδοπροφήτης (false prophet), ὁ (the one) ποιήσας (having done) τὰ (the) σημεῖα (signs) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (him), ἐν (by) οἷς (which) ἐπλάνησεν (he deceived) τοὺς (those) λαβόντας (having received) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) προσκυνοῦντας (worshiping) τῇ (the) εἰκόνι (image) αὐτοῦ (of it), ζῶντες (living) ἐβλήθησαν (were cast) οἱ (the) δύο (two) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρὸς (of fire), τῆς (-) καιομένης (burning) ἐν (with) θείῳ (brimstone). ²¹ καὶ (And) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (rest) ἀπεκτάνθησαν (were killed) ἐν (with) τῇ (the) ῥομφαίᾳ (sword) τοῦ (of the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) τῇ (-) ἐξελθούσῃ (having gone forth) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of him). Καὶ (And) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ὄρνεα (birds) ἐχορτάσθησαν (were filled) ἐκ (with) τῶν (the) σαρκῶν (flesh) αὐτῶν (of them).

⁴ ‹Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) θρόνους (thrones), καὶ (and) ἐκάθισαν (they sat) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτούς (them), καὶ (and) κρίμα (judgment) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτοῖς (to them), καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ψυχὰς (souls) τῶν (of those) πεπελεκισμένων (having been beheaded) διὰ (because of) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) καὶ (and) διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) οἵτινες (those who) οὐ (not) προσεκύνησαν (did worship) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), οὐδὲ (nor) τὴν (the) εἰκόνα (image) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔλαβον (did take) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) χεῖρα (hand) αὐτῶν (of them). καὶ (And) ἔζησαν (they lived) καὶ (and) ἐβασίλευσαν (reigned) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (-) χριστοῦ (Christ) χίλια (a thousand) ἔτη› (years). ⁵ Οἱ (The) λοιποὶ (rest) τῶν (of the) νεκρῶν (dead) οὐκ (not) ἔζησαν (lived again) ἄχρι (until) τελεσθῇ (shall have been completed) τὰ (the) χίλια (thousand) ἔτη (years). αὕτη (This is) ἡ (the) ἀνάστασις (resurrection) ἡ (-) πρώτη (first).

¹² καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τοὺς (the) νεκρούς (dead), τοὺς (-) μεγάλους (great) καὶ (and) τοὺς (-) μικρούς (small), ἑστῶτας (standing) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) βιβλία (books) ἠνοίχθησαν (were opened). Καὶ (And) ἄλλο (another) βιβλίον (book) ἠνοίχθη (was opened), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) τῆς (the one) ζωῆς (of life). καὶ (And) ἐκρίθησαν (were judged) οἱ (the) νεκροὶ (dead) ἐκ (out of) τῶν (the things) γεγραμμένων (having been written) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) βιβλίοις (books), κατὰ (according to) τὰ (the) ἔργα (deeds) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹⁵ καὶ (And) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) οὐχ (not) εὑρέθη (was found) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βίβλῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) γεγραμμένος (having been written), ἐβλήθη (he was cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρός (of fire).

¹² “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ταχύ (quickly), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) μισθός (reward) μου (of Me) μετ’ (is with) ἐμοῦ (Me), ἀποδοῦναι (to give) ἑκάστῳ (to each) ὡς (as) τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) ἐστὶν (is) αὐτοῦ (his).

¹⁴ Ἀλλὰ (But) ἐπωρώθη (were hardened) τὰ (the) νοήματα (minds) αὐτῶν (of them). ἄχρι (Until) γὰρ (for) τῆς (the) σήμερον (present) ἡμέρας (day), τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) κάλυμμα (veil) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) ἀναγνώσει (reading) τῆς (of the) παλαιᾶς (old) διαθήκης (covenant) μένει (remains), μὴ (not) ἀνακαλυπτόμενον (being lifted), ὅτι (which) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) καταργεῖται (is being removed). ¹⁵ ἀλλ’ (But) ἕως (unto) σήμερον (this day), ἡνίκα (when) ἂν (-) ἀναγινώσκηται (shall be read) Μωϋσῆς (Moses), κάλυμμα (a veil) ἐπὶ (over) τὴν (the) καρδίαν (heart) αὐτῶν (of them) κεῖται (lies). ¹⁶ ἡνίκα (Whenever) δὲ (however) ἐὰν (if) ἐπιστρέψῃ (one shall have turned) πρὸς (to) Κύριον (the Lord), περιαιρεῖται (is taken away) τὸ (the) κάλυμμα (veil).

⁴ χρυσοῦν (the golden) ἔχουσα (having) θυμιατήριον (altar of incense), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) κιβωτὸν (ark) τῆς (of the) διαθήκης (covenant), περικεκαλυμμένην (having been covered around) πάντοθεν (in every part) χρυσίῳ (with gold), ἐν (in) ᾗ (which) στάμνος (was the jar) χρυσῆ (golden) ἔχουσα (having) τὸ (the) μάννα (manna), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ῥάβδος (staff) Ἀαρὼν (of Aaron) ἡ (-) βλαστήσασα (having budded), καὶ (and) αἱ (the) πλάκες (tablets) τῆς (of the) διαθήκης (covenant). ⁵ ὑπεράνω (Above) δὲ (then) αὐτῆς (it) Χερουβὶν (were the cherubim) δόξης (of glory), κατασκιάζοντα (overshadowing) τὸ (the) ἱλαστήριον (mercy seat); περὶ (concerning) ὧν (which) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (it is) νῦν (now the time) λέγειν (to speak) κατὰ (in) μέρος (detail). ⁶ Τούτων (These things) δὲ (now) οὕτως (thus) κατεσκευασμένων (having been prepared), εἰς (into) μὲν (indeed) τὴν (the) πρώτην (first) σκηνὴν (tabernacle) διὰ (at all times) παντὸς (everything) εἰσίασιν (enter) οἱ (the) ἱερεῖς (priests), τὰς (the) λατρείας (sacred services) ἐπιτελοῦντες (accomplishing). ⁷ εἰς (Enters into) δὲ (however) τὴν (the) δευτέραν (second), ἅπαξ (once) τοῦ (in the) ἐνιαυτοῦ (year) μόνος (only), ὁ (the) ἀρχιερεύς (high priest), οὐ (not) χωρὶς (without) αἵματος (blood), ὃ (which) προσφέρει (he offers) ὑπὲρ (for) ἑαυτοῦ (himself) καὶ (and) τῶν (the) τοῦ (of the) λαοῦ (people) ἀγνοημάτων (sins of ignorance). ⁸ Τοῦτο (By this) δηλοῦντος (was signifying) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) τοῦ (-) Ἁγίου (Holy) μήπω (that not yet) πεφανερῶσθαι (has been made manifest) τὴν (the) τῶν (into the) ἁγίων (holy places) ὁδὸν (way), ἔτι (still) τῆς (the) πρώτης (first) σκηνῆς (tabernacle) ἐχούσης (having) στάσιν (a standing),

⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐκπορεύονται (come) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταί (thunderings). καὶ (And) ἑπτὰ (there were seven) λαμπάδες (lamps) πυρὸς (of fire) καιόμεναι (burning) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), ἅ (which) εἰσιν (are) τὰ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) Πνεύματα (Spirits) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

⁷ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πρῶτος (first) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐγένετο (there was) χάλαζα (hail), καὶ (and) πῦρ (fire) μεμιγμένα (having been mixed) ἐν (with) αἵματι (blood), καὶ (and) ἐβλήθη (it was cast) εἰς (upon) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth). καὶ (And) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῆς (of) γῆς (the earth) κατεκάη (was burned up), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) δένδρων (trees) κατεκάη (were burned up), καὶ (and) πᾶς (all) χόρτος (the grass) χλωρὸς (green) κατεκάη (was burned up).

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ἄλλος (another) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐξῆλθεν (came out) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple), κράζων (crying) ἐν (in) φωνῇ (a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud) τῷ (to the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) νεφέλης (cloud), “Πέμψον (Put forth) τὸ (the) δρέπανόν (sickle) σου (of You) καὶ (and) θέρισον (reap), ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) ὥρα (hour) θερίσαι (to reap), ὅτι (because) ἐξηράνθη (has ripened) ὁ (the) θερισμὸς (harvest) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth).” ¹⁶ καὶ (And) ἔβαλεν (swung) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) νεφέλης (cloud) τὸ (the) δρέπανον (sickle) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) ἐθερίσθη (was harvested) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth). ¹⁷ Καὶ (And) ἄλλος (another) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐξῆλθεν (came) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple) τοῦ (-) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), ἔχων (having) καὶ (also) αὐτὸς (he) δρέπανον (a sickle) ὀξύ (sharp).

⁵ Καὶ (And) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἠνοίγη (was opened) ὁ (the) ναὸς (temple) τῆς (of the) σκηνῆς (tabernacle) τοῦ (of the) μαρτυρίου (testimony) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven). ⁶ καὶ (And) ἐξῆλθον (came forth) οἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἄγγελοι (angels) οἱ (-) ἔχοντες (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) πληγὰς (plagues) ἐκ (out) τοῦ (of the) ναοῦ (temple), ἐνδεδυμένοι (having been clothed in) λίνον (linen) καθαρὸν (pure) λαμπρὸν (bright), καὶ (and) περιεζωσμένοι (having been girded with) περὶ (around) τὰ (the) στήθη (chests) ζώνας (sashes) χρυσᾶς (golden). ⁷ Καὶ (And) ἓν (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures) ἔδωκεν (gave) τοῖς (to the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλοις (angels) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls) χρυσᾶς (golden) γεμούσας (full) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ζῶντος (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages). ⁸ καὶ (And) ἐγεμίσθη (was filled) ὁ (the) ναὸς (temple) καπνοῦ (with smoke) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) δόξης (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) δυνάμεως (power) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐδύνατο (was able) εἰσελθεῖν (to enter) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) ναὸν (temple) ἄχρι (until) τελεσθῶσιν (were completed) αἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) πληγαὶ (plagues) τῶν (of the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλων (angels).

¹⁸ Καὶ (And) ἐγένοντο (there were) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταί (thunders); καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake) ἐγένετο (there was) μέγας (great), οἷος (such as) οὐκ (not) ἐγένετο (had there been) ἀφ’ (since) οὗ (-) ἄνθρωπος (men) ἐγένετο (were) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), τηλικοῦτος (so great) σεισμὸς (was the earthquake), οὕτω (so) μέγας (mighty).

²¹ καὶ (And) χάλαζα (a hail) μεγάλη (great), ὡς (about) ταλαντιαία (a talent weight), καταβαίνει (comes down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (the) ἀνθρώπους (men). καὶ (And) ἐβλασφήμησαν (blasphemed) οἱ (the) ἄνθρωποι (men) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐκ (on account of) τῆς (the) πληγῆς (plague) τῆς (of the) χαλάζης (hail), ὅτι (for) μεγάλη (severe) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (the) πληγὴ (plague) αὐτῆς (of it) σφόδρα (exceedingly).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) ἠνεῳγμένον (having been opened), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἵππος (a horse) λευκός (white), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (it), καλούμενος (called) Πιστὸς (Faithful) καὶ (and) Ἀληθινός (True), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) κρίνει (He judges) καὶ (and) πολεμεῖ (makes war).
