²¹ ἔσωθεν (Within) γὰρ (for) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) καρδίας (heart) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men) οἱ (-) διαλογισμοὶ (thoughts) οἱ (-) κακοὶ (evil) ἐκπορεύονται (go forth), πορνεῖαι (sexual immorality), κλοπαί (thefts), φόνοι (murders), μοιχεῖαι (adulteries), ²² πλεονεξίαι (covetous desires), πονηρίαι (wickednesses), δόλος (deceit), ἀσέλγεια (sensuality), ὀφθαλμὸς (an eye) πονηρός (evil), βλασφημία (slander), ὑπερηφανία (pride), ἀφροσύνη (foolishness).

¹⁸ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Τί (Why) με (Me) λέγεις (call you) ἀγαθόν (good)? οὐδεὶς (No one is) ἀγαθὸς (good), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) εἷς (alone) ὁ (-) Θεός (God).

⁴ μὴ (Never) γένοιτο (may it be)! γινέσθω (Let be) δὲ (however) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἀληθής (true), πᾶς (every) δὲ (now) ἄνθρωπος (man) ψεύστης (a liar), καθὼς* (as) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ὅπως (That) ἂν (-) δικαιωθῇς (You may be justified) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) λόγοις (words) σου (of You), καὶ (and) νικήσεις (will prevail) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρίνεσθαί (being judged) σε (Your).”

²³ πάντες (All) γὰρ (for) ἥμαρτον (have sinned) καὶ (and) ὑστεροῦνται (fall short) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God),

⁸ καθὼς* (as) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ἔδωκεν (Gave) αὐτοῖς (them) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) πνεῦμα (a spirit) κατανύξεως (of stupor), ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) τοῦ (-) μὴ (not) βλέπειν (to see), καὶ (and) ὦτα (ears) τοῦ (-) μὴ (not) ἀκούειν (to hear), ἕως (unto) τῆς (the) σήμερον (today) ἡμέρας (day).”

³ καὶ (Even) γὰρ (for) ὁ (-) Χριστὸς (Christ) οὐχ (not) ἑαυτῷ (Himself) ἤρεσεν (pleased), ἀλλὰ (but) καθὼς (as) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Οἱ (The) ὀνειδισμοὶ (reproaches) τῶν (of those) ὀνειδιζόντων (reproaching) σε (You) ἐπέπεσαν (have fallen) ἐπ’ (on) ἐμέ (Me).” ⁴ ὅσα (Whatever) γὰρ (for) προεγράφη (was written in the past), (πάντα) (all) εἰς (for) τὴν (-) ἡμετέραν (our) διδασκαλίαν (instruction) ἐγράφη (was written), ἵνα (so that) διὰ (through) τῆς (-) ὑπομονῆς (endurance) καὶ (and) διὰ (through) τῆς (the) παρακλήσεως (encouragement) τῶν (of the) γραφῶν (Scriptures), τὴν (-) ἐλπίδα (hope) ἔχωμεν (we might have).

⁹ Ἢ (Or) οὐκ (not) οἴδατε (know you) ὅτι (that) ἄδικοι (the unrighteous ones) Θεοῦ (of God) βασιλείαν (the kingdom) οὐ (not) κληρονομήσουσιν (will inherit)? μὴ (Not) πλανᾶσθε (be deceived): οὔτε (neither) πόρνοι (the sexually immoral), οὔτε (nor) εἰδωλολάτραι (idolaters), οὔτε (nor) μοιχοὶ (adulterers), οὔτε (nor) μαλακοὶ (effeminate), οὔτε (nor) ἀρσενοκοῖται (homosexuals), ¹⁰ οὔτε (nor) κλέπται (thieves), οὔτε (nor) πλεονέκται (coveters), οὐ (not) μέθυσοι (drunkards), οὐ (nor) λοίδοροι (verbal abusers), οὐχ (nor) ἅρπαγες (swindlers), βασιλείαν (the kingdom) Θεοῦ (of God) κληρονομήσουσιν (will inherit).

¹⁹ Φανερὰ (Evident) δέ (now) ἐστιν (are) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) τῆς (of the) σαρκός (flesh), ἅτινά (which) ἐστιν (are) πορνεία (sexual immorality), ἀκαθαρσία (impurity), ἀσέλγεια (sensuality), ²⁰ εἰδωλολατρία (idolatry), φαρμακεία (sorcery), ἔχθραι (enmities), ἔρις (strife), ζῆλος (jealousy), θυμοί (outbursts of anger), ἐριθεῖαι (contentions), διχοστασίαι (dissensions), αἱρέσεις (factions), ²¹ φθόνοι (envyings), μέθαι (drunkennesses), κῶμοι (carousing), καὶ (and) τὰ (things) ὅμοια (like) τούτοις (these), ἃ (as to which) προλέγω (I forewarn) ὑμῖν (you), καθὼς (even as) προεῖπον (I warned before), ὅτι (that) οἱ (those) τὰ (such) τοιαῦτα (things) πράσσοντες (doing), βασιλείαν (kingdom) Θεοῦ (God’s) οὐ (not) κληρονομήσουσιν (will inherit).

³ Πορνεία (Sexual immorality) δὲ (however), καὶ (and) ἀκαθαρσία (impurity) πᾶσα (all), ἢ (or) πλεονεξία (covetousness), μηδὲ (not even) ὀνομαζέσθω (let be named) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you), καθὼς (as also) πρέπει (is proper) ἁγίοις (to saints), ⁴ καὶ (and) αἰσχρότης (filthiness), καὶ (and) μωρολογία (foolish talking), ἢ (or) εὐτραπελία (crude joking), ἃ (which) οὐκ (not) ἀνῆκεν (are fitting); ἀλλὰ (but) μᾶλλον (rather) εὐχαριστία (thanksgiving). ⁵ τοῦτο (This) γὰρ (for) ἴστε (you know), γινώσκοντες (realizing) ὅτι (that) πᾶς (any) πόρνος (fornicator), ἢ (or) ἀκάθαρτος (unclean person), ἢ (or) πλεονέκτης (covetous man), ὅ (who) ἐστιν (is) εἰδωλολάτρης (an idolater), οὐκ (not) ἔχει (has) κληρονομίαν (inheritance) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), καὶ (and) Θεοῦ (of God). ⁶ Μηδεὶς (No one) ὑμᾶς (you) ἀπατάτω (let deceive) κενοῖς (with empty) λόγοις (words), διὰ (because of) ταῦτα (these things) γὰρ (for) ἔρχεται (comes) ἡ (the) ὀργὴ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (the) υἱοὺς (sons) τῆς (-) ἀπειθείας (of disobedience).

⁵ Νεκρώσατε (Put to death) οὖν (therefore) τὰ (the) μέλη (members) τὰ (which are) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth): πορνείαν (sexual immorality), ἀκαθαρσίαν (impurity), πάθος (passion), ἐπιθυμίαν (desire) κακήν (evil), καὶ (and) τὴν (-) πλεονεξίαν (covetousness), ἥτις (which) ἐστὶν (is) εἰδωλολατρία (idolatry), ⁶ δι’ (because of) ἃ (which things) ἔρχεται (is coming) ἡ (the) ὀργὴ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ‹ἐπὶ (on) τοὺς (the) υἱοὺς (sons) τῆς (of) ἀπειθείας› (disobedience), ⁷ ἐν (in) οἷς (which) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you) περιεπατήσατέ (walked) ποτε (once) ὅτε (when) ἐζῆτε (you were living) ἐν (in) τούτοις (them). ⁸ νυνὶ (Now) δὲ (however), ἀπόθεσθε (put off) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you) τὰ (-) πάντα (all these things): ὀργήν (anger), θυμόν (rage), κακίαν (malice), βλασφημίαν (slander), αἰσχρολογίαν (foul language) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) ὑμῶν (of you). ⁹ Μὴ (Not) ψεύδεσθε (do lie) εἰς (to) ἀλλήλους (one another), ἀπεκδυσάμενοι (having put off) τὸν (the) παλαιὸν (old) ἄνθρωπον (man) σὺν (with) ταῖς (the) πράξεσιν (practices) αὐτοῦ (of him),

⁹ εἰδὼς (knowing) τοῦτο (this), ὅτι (that) δικαίῳ (for a righteous one) νόμος (law) οὐ (not) κεῖται (is enacted), ἀνόμοις (for the lawless) δὲ (however), καὶ (and) ἀνυποτάκτοις (insubordinate), ἀσεβέσι (for the ungodly) καὶ (and) ἁμαρτωλοῖς (sinful), ἀνοσίοις (for the unholy) καὶ (and) βεβήλοις (profane), πατρολῴαις (for murderers of fathers) καὶ (and) μητρολῴαις (murderers of mothers), ἀνδροφόνοις (for slayers of man), ¹⁰ πόρνοις (for the sexually immoral), ἀρσενοκοίταις (homosexuals), ἀνδραποδισταῖς (enslavers), ψεύσταις (liars), ἐπιόρκοις (perjurers), καὶ (and) εἴ (if) τι (anything) ἕτερον (other), τῇ (in the) ὑγιαινούσῃ (being sound) διδασκαλίᾳ (teaching), ἀντίκειται (is opposed to),

² ἔσονται (Will be) γὰρ (for) οἱ (-) ἄνθρωποι (men) φίλαυτοι (lovers of self), φιλάργυροι (lovers of money), ἀλαζόνες (boastful), ὑπερήφανοι (proud), βλάσφημοι (abusive), γονεῦσιν (to parents) ἀπειθεῖς (disobedient), ἀχάριστοι (ungrateful), ἀνόσιοι (unholy), ³ ἄστοργοι (unloving), ἄσπονδοι (implacable), διάβολοι (slanderous), ἀκρατεῖς (without self-control), ἀνήμεροι (savage), ἀφιλάγαθοι (without love of good), ⁴ προδόται (treacherous), προπετεῖς (reckless), τετυφωμένοι (puffed up), φιλήδονοι (lovers of pleasure) μᾶλλον (rather) ἢ (than) φιλόθεοι (lovers of God), ⁵ ἔχοντες (having) μόρφωσιν (a form) εὐσεβείας (of godliness) τὴν (-) δὲ (but) δύναμιν (the power) αὐτῆς (of it) ἠρνημένοι (denying). καὶ (And) τούτους (these) ἀποτρέπου (turn away from).

³ Ἦμεν (Were) γάρ (for) ποτε (once) καὶ (also) ἡμεῖς (we ourselves) ἀνόητοι (foolish), ἀπειθεῖς (disobedient), πλανώμενοι (being deceived), δουλεύοντες (serving) ἐπιθυμίαις (lusts) καὶ (and) ἡδοναῖς (pleasures) ποικίλαις (various), ἐν (in) κακίᾳ (malice) καὶ (and) φθόνῳ (envy) διάγοντες (living), στυγητοί (hateful), μισοῦντες (hating) ἀλλήλους (one another).

¹⁶ διότι (because) γέγραπται (it has been written) ‹ὅτι› (-): “Ἅγιοι (Holy) ἔσεσθε (you shall be), ὅτι (because) ἐγὼ (I) ἅγιος (holy) [εἰμι] (am).”

⁸ Ἐὰν (If) εἴπωμεν (we should say) ὅτι (that) ἁμαρτίαν (sin) οὐκ (not) ἔχομεν (we have), ἑαυτοὺς (ourselves) πλανῶμεν (we deceive), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἀλήθεια (truth) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἐν (in) ἡμῖν (us). ⁹ ἐὰν (If) ὁμολογῶμεν (we should confess) τὰς (the) ἁμαρτίας (sins) ἡμῶν (of us), πιστός (faithful) ἐστιν (He is) καὶ (and) δίκαιος (just), ἵνα (that) ἀφῇ (He may forgive) ἡμῖν (us) τὰς (our) ἁμαρτίας (sins), καὶ (and) καθαρίσῃ (might cleanse) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπὸ (from) πάσης (all) ἀδικίας (unrighteousness). ¹⁰ ἐὰν (If) εἴπωμεν (we should say) ὅτι (that) οὐχ (not) ἡμαρτήκαμεν (we have sinned), ψεύστην (a liar) ποιοῦμεν (we make) αὐτὸν (Him), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) αὐτοῦ (of Him) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἐν (in) ἡμῖν (us).

⁸ Τοῖς (-) δὲ (But) δειλοῖς (to the cowardly) καὶ (and) ἀπίστοις (unbelieving) καὶ (and) ἐβδελυγμένοις (having become abominable) καὶ (and) φονεῦσιν (murderers) καὶ (and) πόρνοις (the sexually immoral) καὶ (and) φαρμάκοις (sorcerers) καὶ (and) εἰδωλολάτραις (idolaters) καὶ (and) πᾶσιν (all) τοῖς (-) ψευδέσιν (liars), τὸ (the) μέρος (portion) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐν (is in) τῇ (the) λίμνῃ (lake) τῇ (-) καιομένῃ (burning) πυρὶ (with fire) καὶ (and) θείῳ (brimstone), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) θάνατος (death) ὁ (-) δεύτερος (second).”
