³ for you are still fleshly. For where jealousy and strife are among you, are you not fleshly, and are walking according to man?

²¹ For from within the heart of men go forth evil thoughts, sexual immorality, thefts, murders, adulteries, ²² covetous desires, wickednesses, deceit, sensuality, an evil eye, slander, pride, foolishness.

¹³ We should walk properly, as in daytime; not in reveling and drinking, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in dissension and jealousy.

¹¹ For it was shown to me concerning you, my brothers, by those of Chloe, that there are quarrels among you.

¹ Anyone of you having a matter against the other, dare he go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? ² Or do you not know that saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you unworthy of the smallest of cases? ³ Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life? ⁴ So indeed, if you have judgment as to the things of this life, set you up those the ones being despised in the church! ⁵ I say this to you for shame. Thus is there not one wise man among you who will be able to decide in between his brother? ⁶ Instead, brother goes to law against brother, and this before unbelievers! ⁷ Therefore indeed it is already altogether a defeat for you that you have lawsuits among one another. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? ⁸ But you do wrong and defraud, and these things to brothers!

¹⁸ For first indeed, of you coming together in an assembly, I hear there to be divisions among you, and in part I believe it.

²⁰ For I fear lest perhaps having come, I may not find you such as I wish, and I might be found by you such as you do not wish; lest perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, contentions, slander, gossip, conceit, disorder;

¹⁵ But if you bite and devour one another, take heed, lest you might be consumed by one another.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, contentions, dissensions, factions, ²¹ envyings, drunkennesses, carousing, and things like these, as to which I forewarn you, even as I warned before, that those doing such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.

² in which once you walked according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience, ³ among whom we all also once lived in the desires of our flesh, doing the things willed of the flesh and of its thoughts; and we were by nature children of wrath even as the rest.

²² You are to have put off, concerning the former way of life, the old man, which is being corrupted according to its desires of deceit, ²³ and to be renewed in the spirit of your mind, ²⁴ and to have put on the new man, having been created according to God in righteousness and holiness of truth.

³ For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, being deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

¹⁶ For where jealousy and self-interest exist, there will be disorder and every evil thing.

¹ From where come quarrels and from where conflicts among you? Is it not from there, out of your passions warring in your members? ² You desire and do not have. You kill and covet and are not able to obtain. You fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.

² so as to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer to men’s desires, but to the will of God.
