¹⁴ Do not be negligent of the gift in you, which was given to you through prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the elderhood.

¹⁴ For it is like a man going on a journey who called his own servants and delivered his possessing to them. ¹⁵ And indeed to one he gave five talents; and to one, two; and to one, one; to each according to his own ability. And he left the region immediately. ¹⁶ The one having received the five talents, having gone, traded with them, and made five more. ¹⁷ Likewise, the one with the two gained two more. ¹⁸ But the one having received the one talent, having gone away, dug in the ground and hid his master’s money. ¹⁹ And after much time, the master of those servants comes and takes account with them. ²⁰ And the one having received the five talents, having come, brought to him five other talents, saying, ‘Master, you did deliver to me five talents. Behold, I have gained five talents more.’ ²¹ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things; I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’ ²² And the one with the two talents, also having come said, ‘Master, you did deliver to me two talents. Behold, I have gained two talents more.’ ²³ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things; I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’ ²⁴ And the one having received the one talent, having come, also said, ‘Master, I knew you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering from where you did not scatter. ²⁵ And having been afraid, having gone away, I hid your talent in the ground. Behold, you have what is yours.’ ²⁶ And his master answering, said to him, ‘Wicked and lazy servant! You knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather from where I did not scatter. ²⁷ Therefore it behooved you to put my money to the bankers, and having come, I would have received my own with interest. ²⁸ Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to the one having the ten talents. ²⁹ For to everyone having will be given, and he will have in abundance. But the one not having, even that which he has will be taken away from him. ³⁰ And cast out the worthless servant, into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

¹² Therefore He said, “A certain man of noble birth proceeded to a distant country, to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. ¹³ And having called ten of his servants, he gave to them ten minas and said to them, ‘Do business until that I come back.’ ¹⁴ But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We are not willing for this man to reign over us.’ ¹⁵ And it came to pass, on his returning, having received the kingdom, that he directed these servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him, in order that he might know what each had gained by trading. ¹⁶ And the first came up, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has produced ten more minas.’ ¹⁷ And He said to him, ‘Well done, good servant! Because you were faithful in very little, you are to be having authority over ten cities.’ ¹⁸ And the second came, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made five minas.’ ¹⁹ And he said to this one also, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’ ²⁰ And another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold your mina, which I kept lying away in a handkerchief. ²¹ For I was afraid of you, because you are a harsh man. You take up what you did not lay down, and you reap what you did not sow.’ ²² He says to him, ‘Out of your mouth I will judge you, evil servant. You knew that I am a harsh man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow? ²³ Why then did you not give my money to the bank, and I having come, might have collected it with interest?’ ²⁴ And to those standing by he said, ‘Take from him the mina, and give it to the one having the ten minas.’ ²⁵ And they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas!’ ²⁶ ‘I say to you that to everyone having will be given, but from the one not having, even that which he has will be taken away.

⁶ whom they set before the apostles. And having prayed, they laid the hands on them.

¹⁷ Then they began laying the hands upon them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

³ Then having fasted and having prayed and having laid the hands on them, they sent them off.

⁶ And of Paul having laid the hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they were speaking in tongues and prophesying.

⁶ And we are having different gifts according to the grace having been given to us: if prophecy, according to the proportion of the faith; ⁷ or service, in the service; or teaching, in the teaching; ⁸ or exhorting, in the exhortation; giving, in generosity; leading, in diligence; showing mercy, in cheerfulness.

¹⁹ Do not quench the Spirit.

¹⁸ I commit to you this charge, Timothy, my child, according to the prophecies going before as to you, that by them you might wage the good warfare,

²² Lay hands on no one hastily, nor share in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.

⁶ For this reason I remind you to kindle anew the gift of God, which is in you by the laying on of my hands.

⁹ hospitable to one another without complaint, ¹⁰ as each has received a gift, to them serving each other as good stewards of the manifold grace of God: ¹¹ if anyone speaks, as oracles of God; if anyone serves, as of strength which God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power to the ages of the ages. Amen.
