¹⁷ Now I say this: The Law, having come four hundred and thirty years afterward, does not annul the covenant having been confirmed beforehand by God, so as to nullify the promise.

⁶⁸ “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and has performed redemption on His people, ⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of salvation for us, in the house of His servant David; ⁷⁰ as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets of old, ⁷¹ salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all those hating us, ⁷² to fulfill mercy toward our fathers, and to remember His holy covenant, ⁷³ the oath that He swore to Abraham our father, to grant us, ⁷⁴ having been saved from the hand of our enemies, to serve Him without fear, ⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before Him, all the days of our life. ⁷⁶ And you, child, will be called prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare His ways, ⁷⁷ to give knowledge of salvation to His people, in forgiveness of their sins, ⁷⁸ through the affections of compassion of our God, in which the Sunrise will visit us from on high, ⁷⁹ to shine upon those sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace.”

¹⁷ For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

⁵⁶ Abraham your father rejoiced in that he should see My day—and he saw it and rejoiced.” ⁵⁷ Therefore the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and You have seen Abraham?” ⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

⁶ But God spoke thus, that his seed will be a sojourner in a strange land, and they will enslave it, and will mistreat it four hundred years.

³ What if indeed some disbelieved? Will their unbelief nullify the faithfulness of God?

²⁵ whom God set forth as a propitiation through faith in His blood, for a showing forth of His righteousness, because of the forbearance of the sins having taken place beforehand,

¹³ For the promise was to Abraham or his descendants that he should be heir of the world, not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. ¹⁴ For if those of the Law are heirs, faith has been made void and the promise made of no effect.

¹² Now I mean this, that each of you says, “I indeed am of Paul,” and “I of Apollos,” and “I of Cephas,” and “I of Christ.”

¹⁷ For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel; not in wisdom of discourse, so that the cross of the Christ should not be emptied of its power.

²⁹ Now I say this, brothers: The season is shortened; that from now on both those having wives, should be as having none;

¹⁹ Then what do I mean? That what is sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?

²⁰ For as many as are the promises of God, in Him is the “Yes.” Therefore also in Him, the “Amen” by us is for glory to God.

⁶ Now this: The one sowing sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one sowing upon blessings will also reap upon blessings,

¹⁵ Brothers, I am speaking according to man. No one sets aside or adds thereto a covenant even of man, having been ratified.

²¹ Is the Law therefore contrary to the promises of God? Never may it be! For if a law had been given being able to impart life, then righteousness indeed would have emerged from out of the Law.

⁴ Whoever are being justified in the Law, you are severed from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

¹⁶ Now I say, walk by the Spirit, and you should not gratify the desires of the flesh.

¹⁷ This therefore I say and testify in the Lord: You are no longer to walk as also the Gentiles are walking, in the futility of their mind,

⁴ I say this so that no one might delude you by persuasive speech.

¹³ For God, having made His promise to Abraham, since He had no one greater to swear by, swore by Himself, ¹⁴ saying, “Surely if blessing, I will bless you; and multiplying, I will multiply you.” ¹⁵ And thus having waited patiently, he obtained the promise. ¹⁶ For men swear by one greater, and an end of all their disputes, for confirmation, is the oath, ¹⁷ in which God, desiring to show more abundantly the unchangeableness of His purpose to the heirs of the promise, guaranteed it by an oath, ¹⁸ so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have strong encouragement, having fled for refuge, to take hold of the hope being set before us,

¹⁸ For indeed, there is a putting away of the preceding commandment, because of its weakness and uselessness

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar, and having embraced them, and having confessed that they are strangers and sojourners on the earth.

¹⁷ By faith Abraham, being tested, has offered up Isaac. Even the one having received the promises was offering up his only begotten son, ¹⁸ as to whom it was said, “In Isaac your offspring will be reckoned,” ¹⁹ having reasoned that God was able even to raise him out from the dead, from where he received him also in a simile.

³⁹ And these all, having been commended through the faith, did not receive the promise, ⁴⁰ God having planned something better for us, so that not apart from us, they should be made perfect.

¹¹ inquiring into what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ in them was signifying, testifying beforehand of the sufferings of Christ and the glories after these, ¹² to whom it was revealed that they were serving not themselves, but you, in those things which now have been proclaimed to you by those having proclaimed the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit having been sent from heaven, into which angels desire to look.

²⁰ having been foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but having been revealed in the last times for the sake of you,
