⁴¹ And many came to Him and were saying, “John indeed did no sign, but everything that John said about this man was true.”

¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but after me is coming He who is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to carry the sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire, ¹² whose winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will clear His threshing floor and will gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

²³ And He was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people. ²⁴ And the news of Him went out into all Syria. And they brought to Him all the sick having various diseases and oppressing pains, and being possessed by demons, and having seizures, and paralytics—and He healed them. ²⁵ And there followed Him great crowds from Galilee, and the Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and beyond the Jordan.

² and he said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and because of this, the miraculous powers are working in him.”

³⁷ And having found Him, also they say to Him, “Everyone seeks You!”

¹ And it came to pass, in the crowd pressing on Him also to hear the word of God, and He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret,

²⁶ But what have you gone out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and one more excellent than a prophet. ²⁷ This is he concerning whom it has been written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before your face, who will prepare Your way before You.’ ²⁸ I say to you, no one among those born of women is greater than John; yet the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” ²⁹ And all the people having heard, even the tax collectors, declared God righteous, having been baptized with the baptism of John. ³⁰ But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God as to themselves, not having been baptized by him.

¹ In these times, the myriads of the crowd having been gathered together so as to trample upon one another, He began to say to His disciples first, “Take heed to yourselves of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

²⁷ the One coming after me, of whom am I not worthy that I should untie the strap of His sandal.”

²⁹ On the next day, he sees Jesus coming to him and says, “Behold the Lamb of God, the One taking away the sin of the world. ³⁰ This is He concerning whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who has precedence over me, because He was before me.’

³³ And I did not know Him; but the One having sent me to baptize with water, He said to me, ‘Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending and abiding on Him, He is the One baptizing with the Holy Spirit.’ ³⁴ And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”

¹¹ This was the beginning of the signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and He revealed His glory. And His disciples believed in Him.

²⁶ And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have borne witness, behold He baptizes, and all are coming to Him.” ²⁷ John answered and said, “A man is able to receive not one thing if it is not given to him from heaven. ²⁸ You yourselves bear witness to me that I said, ‘I am not the Christ, but I am sent before Him.’ ²⁹ The one having the bride is the bridegroom; and the friend of the bridegroom, the one standing and listening for him, rejoices with joy because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore, this joy of mine is fulfilled. ³⁰ It behooves Him to increase, but me to decrease. ³¹ The One coming from above is above all. The one being from the earth is from the earth, and speaks from the earth. The One coming from heaven is above all. ³² What He has seen and heard, this He testifies, but no one receives His testimony. ³³ The one having received His testimony has set his seal that God is true. ³⁴ For He whom God sent speaks the words of God, for He gives the Spirit without measure. ³⁵ The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. ³⁶ The one believing in the Son has eternal life, but the one not obeying the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
