⁵ Since his days are determined and the number of his months is with You, and since You have set limits that he cannot exceed,

²¹ If his sons receive honor, he does not know it; if they are brought low, he is unaware.

²³ But You, O God, will bring them down to the Pit of destruction; men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days. But I will trust in You.

¹⁸ I hated all for which I had toiled under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who comes after me. ¹⁹ And who knows whether that man will be wise or foolish? Yet he will take over all the labor at which I have worked skillfully under the sun. This too is futile.
