¹ “At this my heart also pounds and leaps from its place. ² Listen closely to the thunder of His voice and the rumbling that comes from His mouth. ³ He unleashes His lightning beneath the whole sky and sends it to the ends of the earth. ⁴ Then there comes a roaring sound; He thunders with His majestic voice. He does not restrain the lightning when His voice resounds. ⁵ God thunders wondrously with His voice; He does great things we cannot comprehend. ⁶ For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the gentle rain, ‘Pour out a mighty downpour.’ ⁷ He seals up the hand of every man, so that all men may know His work. ⁸ The wild animals enter their lairs; they settle down in their dens. ⁹ The tempest comes from its chamber, and the cold from the driving north winds. ¹⁰ By the breath of God the ice is formed and the watery expanses are frozen. ¹¹ He loads the clouds with moisture; He scatters His lightning through them. ¹² They swirl about, whirling at His direction, accomplishing all that He commands over the face of all the earth. ¹³ Whether for punishment or for His land, He accomplishes this in His loving devotion. ¹⁴ Listen to this, O Job; stand still and consider the wonders of God. ¹⁵ Do you know how God dispatches the clouds or makes the lightning flash? ¹⁶ Do you understand how the clouds float, those wonders of Him who is perfect in knowledge? ¹⁷ You whose clothes get hot when the land lies hushed under the south wind, ¹⁸ can you, like Him, spread out the skies to reflect the heat like a mirror of bronze? ¹⁹ Teach us what we should say to Him; we cannot draw up our case when our faces are in darkness. ²⁰ Should He be told that I want to speak? Would a man ask to be swallowed up? ²¹ Now no one can gaze at the sun when it is bright in the skies after the wind has swept them clean. ²² Out of the north He comes in golden splendor; awesome majesty surrounds Him. ²³ The Almighty is beyond our reach; He is exalted in power! In His justice and great righteousness He does not oppress. ²⁴ Therefore, men fear Him, for He is not partial to the wise in heart.”

¹⁶ On the third day, when morning came, there was thunder and lightning. A thick cloud was upon the mountain, and a very loud blast of the ram’s horn went out, so that all the people in the camp trembled.

⁶ When I remember, terror takes hold, and my body trembles in horror.

¹ Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:

⁷ In the council of the holy ones, God is greatly feared, and awesome above all who surround Him.

¹²⁰ My flesh trembles in awe of You; I stand in fear of Your judgments.

²² Do you not fear Me?” declares the LORD. “Do you not tremble before Me, the One who set the sand as the boundary for the sea, an enduring barrier it cannot cross? The waves surge, but they cannot prevail. They roar but cannot cross it.

⁷ Only I, Daniel, saw the vision; the men with me did not see it, but a great terror fell upon them, and they ran and hid themselves. ⁸ So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision. No strength remained in me; my face grew deathly pale, and I was powerless.

¹⁶ I heard and trembled within; my lips quivered at the sound. Decay entered my bones; I trembled where I stood. Yet I must wait patiently for the day of distress to come upon the people who invade us.

² Suddenly there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, rolled away the stone, and sat on it. ³ His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. ⁴ The guards trembled in fear of him and became like dead men.

²⁶ Suddenly a strong earthquake shook the foundations of the prison. At once all the doors flew open and everyone’s chains came loose.

²⁹ Calling for lights, the jailer rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas.

³ The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the LORD is heard over many waters. ⁴ The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. ⁵ The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon. ⁶ He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox. ⁷ The voice of the LORD strikes with flames of fire. ⁸ The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh. ⁹ The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in His temple all cry, “Glory!”

⁷ At Your rebuke the waters fled; at the sound of Your thunder they hurried away—

¹³ that it might spread to the ends of the earth and shake the wicked out of it?

¹³ Your way, O God, is holy. What god is so great as our God?

⁴ His lightning illuminates the world; the earth sees and trembles.

¹² He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; He will collect the scattered of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

²⁷ For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

¹⁹ Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple. And there were flashes of lightning, and rumblings, and peals of thunder, and an earthquake, and a great hailstorm.

⁷ You overthrew Your adversaries by Your great majesty. You unleashed Your burning wrath; it consumed them like stubble. ⁸ At the blast of Your nostrils the waters piled up; like a wall the currents stood firm; the depths congealed in the heart of the sea.

²⁶ “There is none like the God of Jeshurun, who rides the heavens to your aid, and the clouds in His majesty.

²⁷ For He draws up drops of water which distill the rain from the mist, ²⁸ which the clouds pour out and shower abundantly on mankind. ²⁹ Furthermore, who can understand how the clouds spread out, how the thunder roars from His pavilion? ³⁰ See how He scatters His lightning around Him and covers the depths of the sea. ³¹ For by these He judges the nations and provides food in abundance. ³² He fills His hands with lightning and commands it to strike its mark. ³³ The thunder declares His presence; even the cattle regard the rising storm.

³³ to Him who rides upon the highest heavens of old; behold, His mighty voice resounds.

¹⁴ The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded. ¹⁵ He shot His arrows and scattered the foes; He hurled lightning and routed them.

¹⁰ He does great things beyond searching out, and wonders without number.

⁷ Can you fathom the deep things of God or discover the limits of the Almighty?

¹⁴ Indeed, these are but the fringes of His ways; how faint is the whisper we hear of Him! Who then can understand the thunder of His power?”

²⁶ Indeed, God is great—beyond our knowledge; the number of His years is unsearchable.

¹¹ He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men, yet they cannot fathom the work that God has done from beginning to end.

²¹ Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the foundation of the earth? ²² He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth; its dwellers are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

²⁸ Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary; His understanding is beyond searching out.

³³ O, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and untraceable His ways!

³ and they sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: “Great and wonderful are Your works, O Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the nations!

¹⁰ And after seven days the floodwaters came upon the earth. ¹¹ In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month, all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. ¹² And the rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.

⁹ So within the three days, all the men of Judah and Benjamin assembled in Jerusalem, and on the twentieth day of the ninth month, all the people sat in the square at the house of God, trembling regarding this matter and because of the heavy rain.

¹³ But there are many people here, and it is the rainy season. We are not able to stay out in the open. Nor is this the work of one or two days, for we have transgressed greatly in this matter.

²⁷ For He draws up drops of water which distill the rain from the mist,

¹⁶ He spreads the snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes; ¹⁷ He casts forth His hail like pebbles. Who can withstand His icy blast? ¹⁸ He sends forth His word and melts them; He unleashes His winds, and the waters flow.

⁸ lightning and hail, snow and clouds, powerful wind fulfilling His word,

³ A destitute leader who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no food.

¹¹ tell those whitewashing the wall that it will fall. Rain will come in torrents, I will send hailstones plunging down, and a windstorm will burst forth.

¹³ Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: In My wrath I will release a windstorm, and in My anger torrents of rain and hail will fall with destructive fury.

⁶ He builds His upper rooms in the heavens and founds His vault upon the earth. He summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth. The LORD is His name.

²⁵ The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock. ²⁶ But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. ²⁷ The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its collapse!”

¹² He thwarts the schemes of the crafty, so that their hands find no success.

²⁴ Remember to magnify His work, which men have praised in song.

⁸ Come, see the works of the LORD, who brings devastation upon the earth.

⁹ Then all mankind will fear and proclaim the work of God; so they will ponder what He has done.

⁴ For You, O LORD, have made me glad by Your deeds; I sing for joy at the works of Your hands.

²⁷ Let them know that this is Your hand, that You, O LORD, have done it.

² Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them.

¹⁷ I saw every work of God, and that a man is unable to comprehend the work that is done under the sun. Despite his efforts to search it out, he cannot find its meaning; even if the wise man claims to know, he is unable to comprehend.

¹² At their feasts are the lyre and harp, tambourines and flutes and wine. They disregard the actions of the LORD and fail to see the work of His hands.

¹¹ O LORD, Your hand is upraised, but they do not see it. They will see Your zeal for Your people and be put to shame. The fire set for Your enemies will consume them!

⁴⁰ when they crouch in their dens and lie in wait in the thicket?

²² The sun rises, and they withdraw; they lie down in their dens.

⁹ He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, of the Pleiades and the constellations of the south.

³ laying the beams of His chambers in the waters above, making the clouds His chariot, walking on the wings of the wind.

¹ This is the burden against the Desert by the Sea: Like whirlwinds sweeping through the Negev, an invader comes from the desert, from a land of terror.

¹⁴ Then the LORD will appear over them, and His arrow will go forth like lightning. The Lord GOD will sound the ram’s horn and advance in the whirlwinds of the south.

²⁹ From whose womb does the ice emerge? Who gives birth to the frost from heaven, ³⁰ when the waters become hard as stone and the surface of the deep is frozen?

⁴⁷ He killed their vines with hailstones and their sycamore-figs with sleet.

⁵ While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him!”

⁹ You attend to the earth and water it; with abundance You enrich it. The streams of God are full of water, for You prepare our grain by providing for the earth. ¹⁰ You soak its furrows and level its ridges; You soften it with showers and bless its growth.

²⁴ How many are Your works, O LORD! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures.

²² Can the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies alone send showers? Is this not by You, O LORD our God? So we put our hope in You, for You have done all these things.

²³ Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God, for He has given you the autumn rains for your vindication. He sends you showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before.

⁷ “I also withheld the rain from you when the harvest was three months away. I sent rain on one city but withheld it from another. One field received rain; another without rain withered.

¹⁷ Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. ¹⁸ Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth yielded its crops.

⁶ These witnesses have power to shut the sky so that no rain will fall during the days of their prophecy, and power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they wish.

¹⁸ Behold, at this time tomorrow I will rain down the worst hail that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded until now. ¹⁹ So give orders now to shelter your livestock and everything you have in the field. Every man or beast that remains in the field and is not brought inside will die when the hail comes down upon them.’” ²⁰ Those among Pharaoh’s officials who feared the word of the LORD hurried to bring their servants and livestock to shelter, ²¹ but those who disregarded the word of the LORD left their servants and livestock in the field. ²² Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, so that hail may fall on all the land of Egypt—on man and beast and every plant of the field throughout the land of Egypt.” ²³ So Moses stretched out his staff toward heaven, and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning struck the earth. So the LORD rained down hail upon the land of Egypt. ²⁴ The hail fell and the lightning continued flashing through it. The hail was so severe that nothing like it had ever been seen in all the land of Egypt from the time it became a nation. ²⁵ Throughout the land of Egypt, the hail struck down everything in the field, both man and beast; it beat down every plant of the field and stripped every tree.

¹⁸ So Samuel called to the LORD, and on that day the LORD sent thunder and rain. As a result, all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel. ¹⁹ They pleaded with Samuel, “Pray to the LORD your God for your servants so that we will not die! For we have added to all our sins the evil of asking for a king.”

¹⁰ And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it out for herself on a rock. From the beginning of the harvest until the rain from heaven poured down on the bodies, she did not allow the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.

⁶ Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering. ⁷ He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth upon nothing. ⁸ He wraps up the waters in His clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their own weight. ⁹ He covers the face of the full moon, spreading over it His cloud. ¹⁰ He has inscribed a horizon on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness. ¹¹ The foundations of heaven quake, astounded at His rebuke. ¹² By His power He stirred the sea; by His understanding He shattered Rahab. ¹³ By His breath the skies were cleared; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent. ¹⁴ Indeed, these are but the fringes of His ways; how faint is the whisper we hear of Him! ¹⁰ “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted over the earth.”

⁵ the glorious splendor of Your majesty. And I will meditate on Your wondrous works. ⁶ They will proclaim the power of Your awesome deeds, and I will declare Your greatness.

¹⁰ All You have made will give You thanks, O LORD, and Your saints will bless You. ¹¹ They will tell of the glory of Your kingdom and speak of Your might, ¹² to make known to men Your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom.

²⁰ But the LORD is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him.

²⁴ For He looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. ²⁵ When God fixed the weight of the wind and measured out the waters, ²⁶ when He set a limit for the rain and a path for the thunderbolt, ²⁷ then He looked at wisdom and appraised it; He established it and searched it out.

¹³ Who gave Him charge over the earth? Who appointed Him over the whole world?

³⁰ See how He scatters His lightning around Him and covers the depths of the sea. ³¹ For by these He judges the nations and provides food in abundance. ³² He fills His hands with lightning and commands it to strike its mark.

⁴ Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. ⁵ Who fixed its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched a measuring line across it? ⁶ On what were its foundations set, or who laid its cornerstone, ⁷ while the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy? ⁸ Who enclosed the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, ⁹ when I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness its blanket, ¹⁰ when I fixed its boundaries and set in place its bars and doors, ¹¹ and I declared: ‘You may come this far, but no farther; here your proud waves must stop’? ¹² In your days, have you commanded the morning or assigned the dawn its place, ¹³ that it might spread to the ends of the earth and shake the wicked out of it? ¹⁴ The earth takes shape like clay under a seal; its hills stand out like the folds of a garment. ¹⁵ Light is withheld from the wicked, and their upraised arm is broken. ¹⁶ Have you journeyed to the vents of the sea or walked in the trenches of the deep? ¹⁷ Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or who can tilt the water jars of the heavens ³⁸ when the dust hardens into a mass and the clods of earth stick together? ³⁹ Can you hunt the prey for a lioness or satisfy the hunger of young lions ⁴⁰ when they crouch in their dens and lie in wait in the thicket? ⁴¹ Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God as they wander about for lack of food?

⁹⁰ Your faithfulness continues through all generations; You established the earth, and it endures. ⁹¹ Your ordinances stand to this day, for all things are servants to You.

²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

⁸ He wraps up the waters in His clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their own weight.

⁴ For truly my words are free of falsehood; one perfect in knowledge is with you.

¹⁸ He sends forth His word and melts them; He unleashes His winds, and the waters flow.

⁵⁵ And when the south wind blows, you say, ‘It will be hot,’ and it is.

⁶ And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters, to separate the waters from the waters.” ⁷ So God made the expanse and separated the waters beneath it from the waters above. And it was so. ⁸ God called the expanse “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

⁸ Next he made the bronze basin and its stand from the mirrors of the women who served at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

¹ Hallelujah! Praise God in His sanctuary. Praise Him in His mighty heavens.

²⁷ I was there when He established the heavens, when He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,

¹² Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or marked off the heavens with the span of his hand? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on a scale and the hills with a balance?

²⁴ Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer who formed you from the womb: “I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who by Myself spread out the earth,

³ But I also have a mind; I am not inferior to you. Who does not know such things as these?

³ Yet I desire to speak to the Almighty and argue my case before God.

⁶ Hear now my argument, and listen to the plea of my lips.

²⁰ From where then does wisdom come, and where does understanding dwell? ²¹ It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing and concealed from the birds of the air.

² “Who is this who obscures My counsel by words without knowledge?

³ You asked, ‘Who is this who conceals My counsel without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.

¹⁶ When I tried to understand all this, it was troublesome in my sight ¹⁷ until I entered God’s sanctuary; then I discerned their end.

²² I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before You.

⁶ Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

² Surely I am the most ignorant of men, and I lack the understanding of a man. ³ I have not learned wisdom, and I have no knowledge of the Holy One. ⁴ Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His hands? Who has bound up the waters in His cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is the name of His Son—surely you know!

¹² Now we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

² Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.

³ For then it would outweigh the sand of the seas—no wonder my words have been rash.

⁷ Can you fathom the deep things of God or discover the limits of the Almighty? ⁸ They are higher than the heavens—what can you do? They are deeper than Sheol—what can you know?

⁴ Even before a word is on my tongue, You know all about it, O LORD.

³⁶ But I tell you that men will give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. ³⁷ For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

⁹ He covers the face of the full moon, spreading over it His cloud.

²⁵ Who cuts a channel for the flood or clears a path for the thunderbolt,

¹¹ Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head over all.

¹⁰ Then adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, and clothe yourself with honor and glory.

⁴ The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.

⁵ Come and see the works of God; how awesome are His deeds toward mankind.

⁷ O God, when You went out before Your people, when You marched through the wasteland, Selah ⁸ the earth shook and the heavens poured down rain before God, the One on Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.

¹² He breaks the spirits of princes; He is feared by the kings of the earth.

¹ The LORD reigns! He is robed in majesty; the LORD has clothed and armed Himself with strength. The world indeed is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

¹ Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty.

⁵ the glorious splendor of Your majesty. And I will meditate on Your wondrous works.

²³ As the north wind brings forth rain, so a backbiting tongue brings angry looks.

¹⁰ Go into the rocks and hide in the dust from the terror of the LORD and the splendor of His majesty.

¹⁹ Men will flee to caves in the rocks and holes in the ground, away from the terror of the LORD and from the splendor of His majesty, when He rises to shake the earth.

⁴ He will stand and shepherd His flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majestic name of the LORD His God. And they will dwell securely, for then His greatness will extend to the ends of the earth.

³ The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet.

Did You rage against the sea when You rode on Your horses, on Your chariots of salvation? ⁹ You brandished Your bow; You called for many arrows. Selah You split the earth with rivers. ¹⁰ The mountains saw You and quaked; torrents of water swept by. The deep roared with its voice and lifted its hands on high. ¹¹ Sun and moon stood still in their places at the flash of Your flying arrows, at the brightness of Your shining spear. ¹² You marched across the earth with fury; You threshed the nations in wrath. ¹³ You went forth for the salvation of Your people, to save Your anointed. You crushed the head of the house of the wicked and stripped him from head to toe. Selah ¹⁴ With his own spear You pierced his head, when his warriors stormed out to scatter us, gloating as though ready to secretly devour the weak. ¹⁵ You trampled the sea with Your horses, churning the great waters. ¹⁶ I heard and trembled within; my lips quivered at the sound. Decay entered my bones; I trembled where I stood. Yet I must wait patiently for the day of distress to come upon the people who invade us. ¹⁷ Though the fig tree does not bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls, ¹⁸ yet I will exult in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation! ¹⁹ GOD the Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like those of a deer; He makes me walk upon the heights! ³ The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

²⁹ “For our God is a consuming fire.”

²⁵ to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord before all time, and now, and for all eternity. Amen.

³ Does God pervert justice? Does the Almighty pervert what is right?

⁴ God is wise in heart and mighty in strength. Who has resisted Him and prospered?

¹⁹ If it is a matter of strength, He is indeed mighty! If it is a matter of justice, who can summon Him?

¹³ Wisdom and strength belong to God; counsel and understanding are His.

⁷ Surely He has now exhausted me; You have devastated all my family. ⁸ You have bound me, and it has become a witness; my frailty rises up and testifies against me. ⁹ His anger has torn me and opposed me; He gnashes His teeth at me. My adversary pierces me with His eyes. ¹⁰ They open their mouths against me and strike my cheeks with contempt; they join together against me. ¹¹ God has delivered me to unjust men; He has thrown me to the clutches of the wicked. ¹² I was at ease, but He shattered me; He seized me by the neck and crushed me. He has set me up as His target; ¹³ His archers surround me. He pierces my kidneys without mercy and spills my gall on the ground. ¹⁴ He breaks me with wound upon wound; He rushes me like a mighty warrior. ¹⁵ I have sewn sackcloth over my skin; I have buried my horn in the dust. ¹⁶ My face is red with weeping, and deep shadows ring my eyes; ¹⁷ yet my hands are free of violence and my prayer is pure.

⁵ Indeed, God is mighty, but He despises no one; He is mighty in strength of understanding.

¹⁹ Teach us what we should say to Him; we cannot draw up our case when our faces are in darkness.

⁵ For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning.

⁵ Your loving devotion, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the clouds. ⁶ Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments are like the deepest sea. O LORD, You preserve man and beast. ⁷ How precious is Your loving devotion, O God, that the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings!

¹¹ God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: that power belongs to God,

⁶ You formed the mountains by Your power, having girded Yourself with might.

³ Say to God, “How awesome are Your deeds! So great is Your power that Your enemies cower before You.

⁴ The mighty King loves justice. You have established equity; You have exercised justice and righteousness in Jacob.

⁶ the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He remains faithful forever. ⁷ He executes justice for the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free,

²¹ Speak up and present your case—yes, let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago? Who announced it from ancient times? Was it not I, the LORD? There is no other God but Me, a righteous God and Savior; there is none but Me.

⁹ In all their distress, He too was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them. In His love and compassion He redeemed them; He lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.

³² Even if He causes grief, He will show compassion according to His abundant loving devotion. ³³ For He does not willingly afflict or grieve the sons of men.

²³ Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Lord GOD. Wouldn’t I prefer that he turn from his ways and live?

³² For I take no pleasure in anyone’s death, declares the Lord GOD. So repent and live!

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’

²² All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”

¹⁶ He alone is immortal and dwells in unapproachable light. No one has ever seen Him, nor can anyone see Him. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.

¹⁰ Our fathers disciplined us for a short time as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our good, so that we may share in His holiness.

¹³ He catches the wise in their craftiness, and sweeps away the plans of the cunning.

⁴ But with You there is forgiveness, so that You may be feared.

¹¹ I saw something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong; neither is the bread to the wise, nor the wealth to the intelligent, nor the favor to the skillful. For time and chance happen to all.

²¹ Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.

³⁹ I will give them one heart and one way, so that they will always fear Me for their own good and for the good of their children after them.

⁹ So this city will bring Me renown, joy, praise, and glory before all the nations of the earth, who will hear of all the good I do for it. They will tremble in awe because of all the goodness and prosperity that I will provide for it.

⁵ Afterward, the people of Israel will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the LORD and to His goodness in the last days.

²⁸ Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

²⁵ At that time Jesus declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. ²⁶ Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight.

⁴ I tell you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. ⁵ But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear the One who, after you have been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him!

⁴ Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

²⁰ That is correct: They were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. ²¹ For if God did not spare the natural branches, He will certainly not spare you either. ²² Take notice, therefore, of the kindness and severity of God: severity to those who fell, but kindness to you, if you continue in His kindness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.

²⁶ Brothers, consider the time of your calling: Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were powerful; not many were of noble birth.

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”
