¹⁹ It was the first day of the week, and that very evening, while the disciples were together with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them. “Peace be with you!” He said to them.

¹⁰ Later, I went to the house of Shemaiah son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was confined to his house. He said: “Let us meet at the house of God inside the temple. Let us shut the temple doors because they are coming to kill you—by night they are coming to kill you!” ¹¹ But I replied, “Should a man like me run away? Should one like me go into the temple to save his own life? I will not go!”

⁸ I will listen to what God the LORD will say; for He will surely speak peace to His people and His saints; He will not let them return to folly. ⁹ Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, that His glory may dwell in our land. ¹⁰ Loving devotion and faithfulness have joined together; righteousness and peace have kissed.

¹⁸ I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him and his mourners, ¹⁹ bringing praise to their lips. Peace, peace to those far and near,” says the LORD, “and I will heal them.”

¹³ If the home is worthy, let your peace rest on it; but if it is not, let your peace return to you.

²⁰ For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them.”

¹⁴ Later, as they were eating, Jesus appeared to the Eleven and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

³⁶ While they were describing these events, Jesus Himself stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” ³⁷ But they were startled and frightened, thinking they had seen a spirit. ³⁸ “Why are you troubled,” Jesus asked, “and why do doubts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself. Touch Me and see—for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” ⁴⁰ And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and feet. ⁴¹ While they were still in disbelief because of their joy and amazement, He asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” ⁴² So they gave Him a piece of broiled fish, ⁴³ and He took it and ate it in front of them. ⁴⁴ Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.” ⁴⁵ Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. ⁴⁶ And He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, ⁴⁷ and in His name repentance and forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ You are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And behold, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you. But remain in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

¹³ Yet no one would speak publicly about Him for fear of the Jews.

¹⁹ In a little while the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you also will live. ²⁰ On that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you. ²¹ Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.” ²² Judas (not Iscariot) asked Him, “Lord, why are You going to reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?” ²³ Jesus replied, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.

²² So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.

³³ I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!”

²¹ Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.”

²⁶ Eight days later, His disciples were once again inside with the doors locked, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

³³ The God of peace be with all of you. Amen.
