² I cry out by day, O my God, but You do not answer, and by night, but I have no rest.

³ My tears have been my food both day and night, while men ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”

¹⁶ But I call to God, and the LORD saves me. ¹⁷ Morning, noon, and night, I cry out in distress, and He hears my voice.

⁴ O LORD God of Hosts, how long will Your anger smolder against the prayers of Your people?

⁸ Even when I cry out and plead for help, He shuts out my prayer.

⁴⁴ You have covered Yourself with a cloud that no prayer can pass through.

⁴⁴ So He left them and went away once more and prayed a third time, saying the same thing.

¹² In those days Jesus went out to the mountain to pray, and He spent the night in prayer to God.

⁷ Will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He continue to defer their help?

⁴¹ And He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, where He knelt down and prayed, ⁴² “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.” ⁴³ Then an angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him. ⁴⁴ And in His anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground. ⁴⁵ When Jesus rose from prayer and returned to the disciples, He found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. ⁴⁶ “Why are you sleeping?” He asked. “Get up and pray so that you will not enter into temptation.”

¹⁰ Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking from your faith.

³ I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience as did my forefathers, as I constantly remember you night and day in my prayers.
