¹ Of David. To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul; ² in You, my God, I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me. ³ Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame; but those who are faithless without cause will be disgraced. ⁴ Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. ⁵ Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; all day long I wait for You. ⁶ Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and loving devotion, for they are from age to age. ⁷ Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my rebellious acts; remember me according to Your loving devotion, because of Your goodness, O LORD. ⁸ Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He shows sinners the way. ⁹ He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way. ¹⁰ All the LORD’s ways are loving and faithful to those who keep His covenant and His decrees. ¹¹ For the sake of Your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, for it is great. ¹² Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the path chosen for him. ¹³ His soul will dwell in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land. ¹⁴ The LORD confides in those who fear Him, and reveals His covenant to them. ¹⁵ My eyes are always on the LORD, for He will free my feet from the mesh. ¹⁶ Turn to me and be gracious, for I am lonely and afflicted. ¹⁷ The troubles of my heart increase; free me from my distress. ¹⁸ Consider my affliction and trouble, and take away all my sins. ¹⁹ Consider my enemies, for they are many, and they hate me with vicious hatred. ²⁰ Guard my soul and deliver me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in You. ²¹ May integrity and uprightness preserve me, because I wait for You. ²² Redeem Israel, O God, from all its distress.

¹⁵ “No, my lord,” Hannah replied. “I am a woman oppressed in spirit. I have not had any wine or strong drink, but I have poured out my soul before the LORD.

⁴ He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear deceitfully.

⁴ Bring joy to Your servant, for to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

⁸ Let me hear Your loving devotion in the morning, for I have put my trust in You. Teach me the way I should walk, for to You I lift up my soul.

⁴¹ Let us lift up our hearts and hands to God in heaven:

¹ A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite. O LORD my God, I take refuge in You; save me and deliver me from all my pursuers,

² How long must I wrestle in my soul, with sorrow in my heart each day? How long will my enemy dominate me? ³ Consider me and respond, O LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death, ⁴ lest my enemy say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes rejoice when I fall.

² The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

¹ For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Doe of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from saving me, so far from my words of groaning?

⁵ They cried out to You and were set free; they trusted in You and were not disappointed.

⁸ “He trusts in the LORD, let the LORD deliver him; let the LORD rescue him, since He delights in him.”

¹ For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; save me by Your righteousness.

⁸ Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

¹⁹ Let not my enemies gloat over me without cause, nor those who hate me without reason wink in malice. ²⁰ For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful schemes against those who live quietly in the land. ²¹ They gape at me and say, “Aha, aha! Our eyes have seen!” ²² O LORD, You have seen it; be not silent. O Lord, be not far from me. ²³ Awake and rise to my defense, to my cause, my God and my Lord! ²⁴ Vindicate me by Your righteousness, O LORD my God, and do not let them gloat over me. ²⁵ Let them not say in their hearts, “Aha, just what we wanted!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up!”

⁴⁰ The LORD helps and delivers them; He rescues and saves them from the wicked, because they take refuge in Him.

¹¹ By this I know that You delight in me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.

¹ In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.

³ How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked exult?

⁶ Listen to my cry, for I am brought quite low. Rescue me from my pursuers, for they are too strong for me.

³ You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind, because he trusts in You.

¹⁶ So this is what the Lord GOD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will never be shaken.

¹⁴ This is what the king says: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he cannot deliver you. ¹⁵ Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, ‘The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’ ¹⁶ Do not listen to Hezekiah, for this is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and his own fig tree, and drink water from his own cistern, ¹⁷ until I come and take you away to a land like your own—a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards. ¹⁸ Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The LORD will deliver us.’ Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria? ¹⁹ Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand? ²⁰ Who among all the gods of these lands has delivered his land from my hand? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?”

¹⁰ “Give this message to Hezekiah king of Judah: ‘Do not let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you by saying that Jerusalem will not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

²⁰ And now, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God.”

³⁵ ‘I will defend this city and save it for My own sake and for the sake of My servant David.’”

¹⁶ You will winnow them, and a wind will carry them away; a gale will scatter them. But you will rejoice in the LORD; you will glory in the Holy One of Israel.

²³ Kings will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow to you facedown and lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in Me will never be put to shame.”

⁵ And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

¹¹ It is just as the Scripture says: “Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”

⁶ For it stands in Scripture: “See, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”

¹³ Zebulun shall dwell by the seashore and become a harbor for ships; his border shall extend to Sidon.

¹⁰ All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace.

⁴ if I have rewarded my ally with evil, if I have plundered my foe without cause, ⁵ then may my enemy pursue me and overtake me; may he trample me to the ground and leave my honor in the dust. Selah

¹⁴ Wait patiently for the LORD; be strong and courageous. Wait patiently for the LORD!

¹⁷ O LORD, let me not be ashamed, for I have called on You. Let the wicked be put to shame; let them lie silent in Sheol.

²⁰ Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.

²⁶ May those who gloat in my distress be ashamed and confounded; may those who exalt themselves over me be clothed in shame and reproach.

³⁴ Wait for the LORD and keep His way, and He will raise you up to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

I waited patiently for the LORD; He inclined to me and heard my cry. ² He lifted me up from the pit of despair, out of the miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm. ³ He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

¹⁴ May those who seek my life be ashamed and confounded; may those who wish me harm be repelled and humiliated. ¹⁵ May those who say to me, “Aha, aha!” be appalled at their own shame.

² Deliver me from workers of iniquity, and save me from men of bloodshed. ³ See how they lie in wait for me. Fierce men conspire against me for no transgression or sin of my own, O LORD. ⁴ For no fault of my own, they move swiftly to attack me. Arise to help me, and take notice. ⁵ O LORD God of Hosts, the God of Israel, rouse Yourself to punish all the nations; show no mercy to the wicked traitors. Selah

⁵ Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him.

⁴ Those who hate me without cause outnumber the hairs of my head; many are those who would destroy me—my enemies for no reason. Though I did not steal, I must repay.

⁶ May those who hope in You not be ashamed through me, O Lord GOD of Hosts; may those who seek You not be dishonored through me, O God of Israel.

² May those who seek my life be ashamed and confounded; may those who wish me harm be repelled and humiliated. ³ May those who say, “Aha, aha!” retreat because of their shame.

¹³ May the accusers of my soul be ashamed and consumed; may those who seek my harm be covered with scorn and disgrace.

³ They surround me with hateful words and attack me without cause.

⁷⁸ May the arrogant be put to shame for subverting me with a lie; I will meditate on Your precepts.

² As the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes are on the LORD our God until He shows us mercy.

¹⁸ I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown upon him will gleam.”

⁹ And in that day it will be said, “Surely this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He has saved us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited. Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”

³¹ But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

¹¹ But the LORD is with me like a fearsome warrior. Therefore, my persecutors will stumble and will not prevail. Since they have not succeeded, they will be utterly put to shame, with an everlasting disgrace that will never be forgotten.

²⁵ The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.

⁷ But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.

²⁵ But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated Me without reason.’

²⁵ But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently.

¹³ Now if indeed I have found favor in Your sight, please let me know Your ways, that I may know You and find favor in Your sight. Remember that this nation is Your people.”

⁸ Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make straight Your way before me.

¹¹ Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path, because of my oppressors.

¹¹ Teach me Your way, O LORD, that I may walk in Your truth. Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name.

²⁷ Make clear to me the way of Your precepts; then I will meditate on Your wonders.

²⁰ I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,

³ And many peoples will come and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways so that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go forth from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

¹⁶ This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths: ‘Where is the good way?’ Then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it!’

²⁰ You gave Your good Spirit to instruct them. You did not withhold Your manna from their mouths, and You gave them water for their thirst.

²² Behold, God is exalted in His power. Who is a teacher like Him?

² I cry out by day, O my God, but You do not answer, and by night, but I have no rest.

⁵ He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from the God of his salvation.

⁸ Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He shows sinners the way.

¹⁰ All the LORD’s ways are loving and faithful to those who keep His covenant and His decrees.

³ Send out Your light and Your truth; let them lead me. Let them bring me to Your holy mountain, and to the place where You dwell. ⁴ Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my greatest joy. I will praise You with the harp, O God, my God.

²⁰ Our God is a God of deliverance; the Lord GOD is our rescuer from death.

⁹ Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; deliver us and atone for our sins, for the sake of Your name.

³ Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I call to You all day long.

⁷ He led them on a straight path to reach a city where they could live.

²⁶ I recounted my ways, and You answered me; teach me Your statutes.

³³ Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, and I will keep them to the end.

⁶⁶ Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in Your commandments.

⁹⁷ Oh, how I love Your law! All day long it is my meditation.

³⁴ Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at the posts of my doorway.

¹⁷ Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always continue in the fear of the LORD.

¹⁸ Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore He rises to show you compassion, for the LORD is a just God. Blessed are all who wait for Him.

⁸ And there will be a highway called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not travel it—only those who walk in the Way—and fools will not stray onto it.

¹⁶ I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light before them and rough places into level ground. These things I will do for them, and I will not forsake them.

¹⁰ They will not hunger or thirst, nor will scorching heat or sun beat down on them. For He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.

¹³ Then all your sons will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their prosperity.

⁹ They will come with weeping, and by their supplication I will lead them; I will make them walk beside streams of waters, on a level path where they will not stumble. For I am Israel’s Father, and Ephraim is My firstborn.”

³³ “But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD. I will put My law in their minds and inscribe it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they will be My people. ³⁴ No longer will each man teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquities and will remember their sins no more.”

⁷ Will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He continue to defer their help?

⁴⁵ It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me—

³¹ So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples. ³² Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

²⁶ But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.

¹³ However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come.

¹⁴ For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

²⁰ But this is not the way you came to know Christ. ²¹ Surely you heard of Him and were taught in Him—in keeping with the truth that is in Jesus—

²⁷ And as for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But just as His true and genuine anointing teaches you about all things, so remain in Him as you have been taught.

¹⁷ For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd. ‘He will lead them to springs of living water,’ and ‘God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”

²⁷ saying, “Blessed be the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not withheld His kindness and faithfulness from my master. As for me, the LORD has led me on the journey to the house of my master’s relatives.”

⁹ Then Jacob declared, “O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, the LORD who told me, ‘Go back to your country and to your kindred, and I will make you prosper,’

¹³ With loving devotion You will lead the people You have redeemed; with Your strength You will guide them to Your holy dwelling.

⁶ Then the LORD passed in front of Moses and called out: “The LORD, the LORD God, is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness,

⁴² O LORD God, do not reject Your anointed one. Remember Your loving devotion to Your servant David.”

¹⁹ You in Your great compassion did not forsake them in the wilderness. By day the pillar of cloud never turned away from guiding them on their path; and by the night the pillar of fire illuminated the way they should go.

¹¹ O LORD, do not withhold Your mercy from me; Your loving devotion and faithfulness will always guard me.

¹³ But my prayer to You, O LORD, is for a time of favor. In Your abundant loving devotion, O God, answer me with Your sure salvation.

¹⁶ Answer me, O LORD, for Your loving devotion is good; turn to me in keeping with Your great compassion.

⁷ “Will the Lord spurn us forever and never show His favor again? ⁸ Is His loving devotion gone forever? Has His promise failed for all time? ⁹ Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has His anger shut off His compassion?” Selah ¹⁰ So I said, “I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed.” ¹¹ I will remember the works of the LORD; yes, I will remember Your wonders of old. ¹² I will reflect on all You have done and ponder Your mighty deeds.

³ He has remembered His love and faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

⁴ who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion,

¹⁷ But from everlasting to everlasting the loving devotion of the LORD extends to those who fear Him, and His righteousness to their children’s children—

¹ Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever.

⁴⁵ And He remembered His covenant with them, and relented by the abundance of His loving devotion.

⁷⁷ May Your compassion come to me, that I may live, for Your law is my delight.

¹¹ and brought Israel out from among them His loving devotion endures forever. ¹² with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. ⁷ Let the wicked man forsake his own way and the unrighteous man his own thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that He may have compassion, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.

¹⁵ Look down from heaven and see, from Your holy and glorious habitation. Where are Your zeal and might? Your yearning and compassion for me are restrained.

²⁰ Is not Ephraim a precious son to Me, a delightful child? Though I often speak against him, I still remember him. Therefore My heart yearns for him; I have great compassion for him,” declares the LORD.

¹¹ the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of the bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those bringing thank offerings into the house of the LORD, saying: ‘Give thanks to the LORD of Hosts, for the LORD is good; His loving devotion endures forever.’ For I will restore the land from captivity as in former times, says the LORD.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance—who does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in loving devotion? ¹⁹ He will again have compassion on us; He will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast out all our sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰ You will show faithfulness to Jacob and loving devotion to Abraham, as You swore to our fathers from the days of old.

⁵⁰ His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.

⁵⁴ He has helped His servant Israel, remembering to be merciful,

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us, ⁷² to show mercy to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant,

⁷⁸ because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the Dawn will visit us from on high,

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,

⁸ God is my witness how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

¹ Therefore if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,

¹² Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

¹⁷ If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him?

²⁶ For You record bitter accusations against me and bequeath to me the iniquities of my youth.

¹¹ The youthful vigor that fills his bones will lie down with him in the dust.

⁴ Turn, O LORD, and deliver my soul; save me because of Your loving devotion.

¹⁶ Make Your face shine on Your servant; save me by Your loving devotion.

¹ For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. When Nathan the prophet came to him after his adultery with Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your loving devotion; according to Your great compassion, blot out my transgressions.

⁸ Do not hold past sins against us; let Your compassion come quickly, for we are brought low.

¹⁴ May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD, and the sin of his mother never be blotted out.

¹⁶ For he never thought to show kindness, but pursued the poor and needy and brokenhearted, even to their death.

²⁶ Help me, O LORD my God; save me according to Your loving devotion.

¹²⁴ Deal with Your servant according to Your loving devotion, and teach me Your statutes.

⁷ So now, my sons, listen to me, and do not turn aside from the words of my mouth. ⁸ Keep your path far from her; do not go near the door of her house, ⁹ lest you concede your vigor to others, and your years to one who is cruel; ¹⁰ lest strangers feast on your wealth, and your labors enrich the house of a foreigner. ¹¹ At the end of your life you will groan when your flesh and your body are spent, ¹² and you will say, “How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof! ¹³ I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my mentors. ¹⁴ I am on the brink of utter ruin in the midst of the whole assembly.”

¹⁷ Surely for my own welfare I had such great anguish; but Your love has delivered me from the pit of oblivion, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

²⁵ I, yes I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake and remembers your sins no more.

⁹ Do not be angry, O LORD, beyond measure; do not remember our iniquity forever. Oh, look upon us, we pray; we are all Your people!

²⁵ Let us lie down in our shame; let our disgrace cover us. We have sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our fathers; from our youth even to this day we have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.”

⁵ One man there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years.

¹⁴ Afterward, Jesus found the man at the temple and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Stop sinning, or something worse may happen to you.”

⁶ to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the Beloved One. ⁷ In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

⁴ But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, ⁵ made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved! ⁶ And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, ⁷ in order that in the coming ages He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. ⁸ For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God,

¹² For I will forgive their iniquities and will remember their sins no more.”

¹⁶ “This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord. I will put My laws in their hearts and inscribe them on their minds.” ¹⁷ Then He adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” ¹⁸ And where these have been forgiven, an offering for sin is no longer needed.

⁸ I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you.

¹⁵ to proclaim, “The LORD is upright; He is my Rock, and in Him there is no unrighteousness.”

⁶⁸ You are good, and You do what is good; teach me Your statutes.

²⁰ Wisdom calls out in the street, she lifts her voice in the square; ²¹ in the main concourse she cries aloud, at the city gates she makes her speech: ²² “How long, O simple ones, will you love your simple ways? How long will scoffers delight in their scorn and fools hate knowledge? ²³ If you had repented at my rebuke, then surely I would have poured out my spirit on you; I would have made my words known to you.

¹ My son, if you accept my words and hide my commandments within you, ² if you incline your ear to wisdom and direct your heart to understanding, ³ if you truly call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding, ⁴ if you seek it like silver and search it out like hidden treasure, ⁵ then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

⁴ “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” she says to him who lacks judgment. ⁵ “Come, eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed. ⁶ Leave your folly behind, and you will live; walk in the way of understanding.”

⁷ The path of the righteous is level; You clear a straight path for the upright.

² And many nations will come and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go forth from Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

¹³ But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

²⁹ Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. ³⁰ For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

¹³ So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

⁴⁴ “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me—

⁶ For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in your knowledge of Him. ¹⁸ I ask that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know the hope of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,

⁵ Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

²⁶ The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise Him. May your hearts live forever!

³ He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name.

⁸ I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you. ⁹ Do not be like the horse or mule, which have no understanding; they must be controlled with bit and bridle to make them come to you.

²⁴ You guide me with Your counsel, and later receive me in glory.

⁹ when God rose up to judge, to save all the lowly of the earth. Selah

³⁵ Direct me in the path of Your commandments, for there I find delight.

¹⁰ Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

⁶ The LORD sustains the humble, but casts the wicked to the ground.

⁴ For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the afflicted with salvation.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; ⁶ in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

⁴ but with righteousness He will judge the poor, and with equity He will decide for the lowly of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth and slay the wicked with the breath of His lips.

¹ “Here is My Servant, whom I uphold, My Chosen One, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will bring justice to the nations. ² He will not cry out or raise His voice, nor make His voice heard in the streets. ³ A bruised reed He will not break and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners,

¹⁹ And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh, ²⁰ so that they may follow My statutes, keep My ordinances, and practice them. Then they will be My people, and I will be their God.

²⁷ And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes and to carefully observe My ordinances.

³ Seek the LORD, all you humble of the earth who carry out His justice. Seek righteousness; seek humility. Perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the LORD’s anger.

⁵ Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

⁶ Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

² and requested letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any men or women belonging to the Way, he could bring them as prisoners to Jerusalem.

¹⁰ and said, “O child of the devil and enemy of all righteousness, you are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery! Will you never stop perverting the straight ways of the Lord?

²³ gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

²⁰ by the new and living way opened for us through the curtain of His body,

²¹ Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and every expression of evil, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save your souls.

⁴ but from the inner disposition of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight.

¹⁵ But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you. But respond with gentleness and respect,

²⁴ Enoch walked with God, and then he was no more, because God had taken him away.

¹ When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty. Walk before Me and be blameless.

¹⁵ Then he blessed Joseph and said: “May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, ¹⁶ the angel who has redeemed me from all harm—may He bless these boys. And may they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they grow into a multitude upon the earth.”

²⁰ In fact, you arrived only yesterday; should I make you wander around with us today while I do not know where I am going? Go back and take your brothers with you. May the LORD show you loving devotion and faithfulness.”

²⁵ To the faithful You show Yourself faithful, to the blameless You show Yourself blameless; ²⁶ to the pure You show Yourself pure, but to the crooked You show Yourself shrewd.

⁴ He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear deceitfully. ⁵ He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from the God of his salvation.

⁴ Repay them according to their deeds and for their works of evil. Repay them for what their hands have done; bring back on them what they deserve. ⁵ Since they show no regard for the works of the LORD or what His hands have done, He will tear them down and never rebuild them. ⁶ Blessed be the LORD, for He has heard my cry for mercy.

⁴ For the word of the LORD is upright, and all His work is trustworthy.

²³ The steps of a man are ordered by the LORD who takes delight in his journey. ²⁴ Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, for the LORD is holding his hand.

²³ He who sacrifices a thank offering honors Me, and to him who rights his way, I will show the salvation of God.”

³ He reaches down from heaven and saves me; He rebukes those who trample me. Selah God sends forth His loving devotion and His truth.

¹⁰ Loving devotion and faithfulness have joined together; righteousness and peace have kissed.

¹⁴ Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; loving devotion and faithfulness go before You.

¹⁴ “Because he loves Me, I will deliver him; because he knows My name, I will protect him.

¹⁷ But from everlasting to everlasting the loving devotion of the LORD extends to those who fear Him, and His righteousness to their children’s children— ¹⁸ to those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts.

⁷⁵ I know, O LORD, that Your judgments are righteous, and that in faithfulness You have afflicted me. ⁷⁶ May Your loving devotion comfort me, I pray, according to Your promise to Your servant.

⁷ If I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve me from the anger of my foes; You extend Your hand, and Your right hand saves me.

¹ O LORD, You are my God! I will exalt You; I will praise Your name. For You have worked wonders—plans formed long ago—in perfect faithfulness.

² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched; the flames will not set you ablaze.

¹ This is what the LORD says: “Maintain justice and do what is right, for My salvation is coming soon, and My righteousness will be revealed. ² Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath without profaning it and keeps his hand from doing any evil.” ³ Let no foreigner who has joined himself to the LORD say, “The LORD will utterly exclude me from His people.” And let the eunuch not say, “I am but a dry tree.” ⁴ For this is what the LORD says: “To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, who choose what pleases Me and hold fast to My covenant— ⁵ I will give them, in My house and within My walls, a memorial and a name better than that of sons and daughters. I will give them an everlasting name that will not be cut off. ⁶ And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD to minister to Him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be His servants—all who keep the Sabbath without profaning it and who hold fast to My covenant—

⁹ Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, and the righteous walk in them but the rebellious stumble in them.

¹⁴ The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

³⁵ but welcomes those from every nation who fear Him and do what is right.

¹³ For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but it is the doers of the law who will be declared righteous.

²⁸ And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.

⁸ But God found fault with the people and said: “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. ⁹ It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not abide by My covenant, and I disregarded them, declares the Lord. ¹⁰ For this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord. I will put My laws in their minds and inscribe them on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they will be My people. ¹¹ No longer will each one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest. ¹² For I will forgive their iniquities and will remember their sins no more.”

¹⁴ Pursue peace with everyone, as well as holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.

¹¹ See how blessed we consider those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen the outcome from the Lord. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

¹⁷ So now I pray, may the power of my Lord be magnified, just as You have declared: ¹⁸ ‘The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion, forgiving iniquity and transgression. Yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished; He will visit the iniquity of the fathers upon their children to the third and fourth generation.’ ¹⁹ Pardon, I pray, the iniquity of this people, in keeping with the greatness of Your loving devotion, just as You have forgiven them ever since they left Egypt.”

³ For You are my rock and my fortress; lead me and guide me for the sake of Your name.

²¹ But You, O GOD, the Lord, deal kindly with me for the sake of Your name; deliver me by the goodness of Your loving devotion.

¹¹ For the sake of Your name, O LORD, revive me. In Your righteousness, bring my soul out of trouble.

⁹ For the sake of My name I will delay My wrath; for the sake of My praise I will restrain it, so that you will not be cut off.

⁹ But I acted for the sake of My name, that it should not be profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they were living, in whose sight I had revealed Myself to Israel by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

²² Therefore tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: It is not for your sake that I will act, O house of Israel, but for My holy name, which you profaned among the nations to which you went.

¹⁵ But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many!

²⁰ The law came in so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more, ²¹ so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹² I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven through His name.

²³ The steps of a man are ordered by the LORD who takes delight in his journey.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts gain rich understanding. His praise endures forever!

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

⁵ then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God.

³³ The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

⁶ By loving devotion and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the LORD one turns aside from evil.

¹³ When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: Fear God and keep His commandments, because this is the whole duty of man.

¹⁰ Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the voice of His Servant? Who among you walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD; let him lean on his God.

²⁰ Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. ²¹ But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen clearly that what he has done has been accomplished in God.”

¹⁷ If anyone desires to do His will, he will know whether My teaching is from God or whether I speak on My own.

² He and all his household were devout and God-fearing. He gave generously to the people and prayed to God regularly.

²² “Cornelius the centurion has sent us,” they said. “He is a righteous and God-fearing man with a good reputation among the whole Jewish nation. A holy angel instructed him to request your presence in his home so he could hear a message from you.”

¹⁴ He will convey to you a message by which you and all your household will be saved.’

²⁶ Brothers, children of Abraham, and you Gentiles who fear God, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent.

¹⁰ and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. ¹¹ For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, ¹² in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.

⁷ I will establish My covenant as an everlasting covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. ⁸ And to you and your descendants I will give the land where you are residing—all the land of Canaan—as an eternal possession; and I will be their God.” ⁹ God also said to Abraham, “You must keep My covenant—you and your descendants in the generations after you. ¹⁰ This is My covenant with you and your descendants after you, which you are to keep: Every male among you must be circumcised.

¹² Concerning Benjamin he said: “May the beloved of the LORD rest secure in Him; God shields him all day long, and upon His shoulders he rests.”

²⁶ “There is none like the God of Jeshurun, who rides the heavens to your aid, and the clouds in His majesty. ²⁷ The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He drives out the enemy before you, giving the command, ‘Destroy him!’ ²⁸ So Israel dwells securely; the fountain of Jacob lives untroubled in a land of grain and new wine, where even the heavens drip with dew. ²⁹ Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is the shield that protects you, the sword in which you boast. Your enemies will cower before you, and you shall trample their high places.”

¹⁹ How great is Your goodness which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have bestowed before the sons of men on those who take refuge in You!

⁸ They feast on the abundance of Your house, and You give them drink from Your river of delights.

¹¹ But the meek will inherit the land and delight in abundant prosperity.

²² Surely those He blesses will inherit the land, but the cursed will be destroyed.

²⁶ They are ever generous and quick to lend, and their children are a blessing.

²⁹ The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.

⁵ My soul is satisfied as with the richest of foods; with joyful lips my mouth will praise You.

³⁶ The descendants of His servants will inherit it, and those who love His name will settle in it.

² His descendants will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.

³³ But whoever listens to me will dwell in safety, secure from the fear of evil.”

²³ The fear of the LORD leads to life, that one may rest content, without visitation from harm.

⁷ The righteous man walks with integrity; blessed are his children after him.

²⁵ The fear of man is a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is set securely on high.

²³ They will not labor in vain or bear children doomed to disaster; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD—they and their descendants with them.

¹⁰ Be glad for Jerusalem and rejoice over her, all who love her. Rejoice greatly with her, all who mourn over her, ¹¹ so that you may nurse and be satisfied at her comforting breasts; you may drink deeply and delight yourselves in her glorious abundance. ¹² For this is what the LORD says: “I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flowing stream; you will nurse and be carried on her arm, and bounced upon her knees. ¹³ As a mother comforts her son, so will I comfort you, and you will be consoled over Jerusalem.” ¹⁴ When you see, you will rejoice, and you will flourish like grass; then the hand of the LORD will be revealed to His servants, but His wrath will be shown to His enemies.

¹² They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will be radiant over the bounty of the LORD—the grain, new wine, and oil, and the young of the flocks and herds. Their life will be like a well-watered garden, and never again will they languish. ¹³ Then the maidens will rejoice with dancing, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into joy, and give them comfort and joy for their sorrow. ¹⁴ I will fill the souls of the priests abundantly, and will fill My people with My goodness,” declares the LORD.

³⁹ I will give them one heart and one way, so that they will always fear Me for their own good and for the good of their children after them.

²⁴ “Son of man, those living in the ruins in the land of Israel are saying, ‘Abraham was only one man, yet he possessed the land. But we are many; surely the land has been given to us as a possession.’ ²⁵ Therefore tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘You eat meat with the blood in it, lift up your eyes to your idols, and shed blood. Should you then possess the land? ²⁶ You have relied on your swords, you have committed detestable acts, and each of you has defiled his neighbor’s wife. Should you then possess the land?’

²⁵ I will make with them a covenant of peace and rid the land of wild animals, so that they may dwell securely in the wilderness and sleep in the forest. ²⁶ I will make them and the places around My hill a blessing. I will send down showers in season—showers of blessing. ²⁷ The trees of the field will give their fruit, and the land will yield its produce; My flock will be secure in their land. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their yoke and delivered them from the hands that enslaved them. ²⁸ They will no longer be prey for the nations, and the beasts of the earth will not consume them. They will dwell securely, and no one will frighten them.

¹⁷ The LORD your God is among you; He is mighty to save. He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing.”

¹⁷ How lovely they will be, and how beautiful! Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine, the young women.

²⁸ Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

³⁹ This promise belongs to you and your children and to all who are far off—to all whom the Lord our God will call to Himself.”

¹⁹ And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.

¹³ But in keeping with God’s promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

¹³ Whether they are born in your household or purchased, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh will be an everlasting covenant.

¹⁷ And the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? ¹⁸ Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and through him all the nations of the earth will be blessed. ¹⁹ For I have chosen him, so that he will command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, in order that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has promised.”

¹³ He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to follow—the Ten Commandments that He wrote on two tablets of stone.

³² for the LORD detests the perverse, but He is a friend to the upright.

¹⁸ Say to the king and to the queen mother: “Take a lowly seat, for your glorious crowns have fallen from your heads.”

³¹ Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. ³² It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant they broke, though I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD.

¹¹ He replied, “The knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. ¹² Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

¹⁷ the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.

²¹ Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.” ²² Judas (not Iscariot) asked Him, “Lord, why are You going to reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?” ²³ Jesus replied, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

¹⁵ No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father I have made known to you.

⁶ I have revealed Your name to those You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours; You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.

²⁶ And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come from Zion; He will remove godlessness from Jacob. ²⁷ And this is My covenant with them when I take away their sins.”

¹⁴ The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

⁹ And He has made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ

¹⁸ I ask that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know the hope of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,

³ For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

¹⁷ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will give the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone inscribed with a new name, known only to the one who receives it.

⁴ You free me from the net laid out for me, for You are my refuge.

¹ A song of ascents. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? ² My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

⁷ We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowler; the net is torn, and we have slipped away. ⁸ Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

⁸ But my eyes are fixed on You, O GOD the Lord. In You I seek refuge; do not leave my soul defenseless.

²⁶ For among My people are wicked men; they watch like fowlers lying in wait; they set a trap to catch men.

²⁵ He must gently reprove those who oppose him, in the hope that God may grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth. ²⁶ Then they will come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to his will.

¹ For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Lily of the Covenant.” A Miktam of David for instruction. When he fought Aram-naharaim and Aram-zobah, and Joab returned and struck down 12,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. You have rejected us, O God; You have broken us; You have been angry; restore us!

¹⁴ Rescue me from the mire and do not let me sink; deliver me from my foes and out of the deep waters. ¹⁵ Do not let the floods engulf me or the depths swallow me up; let not the Pit close its mouth over me. ¹⁶ Answer me, O LORD, for Your loving devotion is good; turn to me in keeping with Your great compassion. ¹⁷ Hide not Your face from Your servant, for I am in distress. Answer me quickly! ¹⁸ Draw near to my soul and redeem me; ransom me because of my foes. ¹⁹ You know my reproach, my shame and disgrace. All my adversaries are before You. ²⁰ Insults have broken my heart, and I am in despair. I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found no one.

¹⁶ Turn to me and have mercy; grant Your strength to Your servant; save the son of Your maidservant.

¹⁵ From my youth I was afflicted and near death. I have borne Your terrors; I am in despair. ¹⁶ Your wrath has swept over me; Your terrors have destroyed me. ¹⁷ All day long they engulf me like water; they enclose me on every side. ¹⁸ You have removed my beloved and my friend; darkness is my closest companion.

⁴ My spirit grows faint within me; my heart is dismayed inside me.

¹⁷ So now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of Your servant. For Your sake, O Lord, cause Your face to shine upon Your desolate sanctuary.

¹⁹ He will again have compassion on us; He will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast out all our sins into the depths of the sea.

³³ From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. ³⁴ At the ninth hour, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” ³⁵ When some of those standing nearby heard this, they said, “Behold, He is calling Elijah.”

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all.

¹ A Psalm of David, for remembrance. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath. ² For Your arrows have pierced me deeply, and Your hand has pressed down on me. ³ There is no soundness in my body because of Your anger; there is no rest in my bones because of my sin. ⁴ For my iniquities have overwhelmed me; they are a burden too heavy to bear. ⁵ My wounds are foul and festering because of my sinful folly. ⁶ I am bent and brought low; all day long I go about mourning. ⁷ For my loins are full of burning pain, and no soundness remains in my body. ⁸ I am numb and badly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart.

⁷ Deep calls to deep in the roar of Your waterfalls; all Your breakers and waves have rolled over me.

² In the day of trouble I sought the Lord; through the night my outstretched hands did not grow weary; my soul refused to be comforted. ³ I remembered You, O God, and I groaned; I mused and my spirit grew faint. Selah ⁴ You have kept my eyes from closing; I am too troubled to speak.

⁶ Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.

¹⁷ Though the fig tree does not bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls, ¹⁸ yet I will exult in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation! ¹⁹ GOD the Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like those of a deer; He makes me walk upon the heights! For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments.

¹¹ To this very hour we are hungry and thirsty, we are poorly clothed, we are brutally treated, we are homeless. ¹² We work hard with our own hands. When we are vilified, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; ¹³ when we are slandered, we answer gently. Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world.

⁸ We are hard pressed on all sides, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; ⁹ persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.

¹¹ And she made a vow, pleading, “O LORD of Hosts, if only You will look upon the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, not forgetting Your maidservant but giving her a son, then I will dedicate him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall ever come over his head.”

¹² Perhaps the LORD will see my affliction and repay me with good for the cursing I receive today.”

¹ Of David. A Maskil. Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. ² Blessed is the man whose iniquity the LORD does not count against him, in whose spirit there is no deceit. ³ When I kept silent, my bones became brittle from my groaning all day long. ⁴ For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was drained as in the summer heat. Selah ⁵ Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not hide my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah

⁸ Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones You have crushed rejoice. ⁹ Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities.

¹³² Turn to me and show me mercy, as You do to those who love Your name.

¹⁵³ Look upon my affliction and rescue me, for I have not forgotten Your law.

¹ Remember, O LORD, what has happened to us. Look and see our disgrace!

² Just then some men brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven.”

²⁵ “The Lord has done this for me. In these days He has shown me favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”

¹¹ Then David said to Abishai and to all his servants, “Behold, my own son, my own flesh and blood, seeks my life. How much more, then, this Benjamite! Leave him alone and let him curse me, for the LORD has told him so.

² I will attack him while he is weak and weary; I will throw him into a panic, and all the people with him will flee; I will strike down only the king ³ and bring all the people back to you as a bride returning to her husband. You seek the life of only one man; then all the people will be at peace.” ⁴ This proposal seemed good to Absalom and all the elders of Israel.

¹ A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom. O LORD, how my foes have increased! How many rise up against me! ² Many say of me, “God will not deliver him.” Selah

⁵ The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked; His soul hates the lover of violence.

⁴⁸ who delivers me from my enemies. You exalt me above my foes; You rescue me from violent men.

² When the wicked came upon me to devour my flesh, my enemies and foes stumbled and fell.

¹² Do not hand me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence.

¹⁹ Many are my enemies without cause, and many hate me without reason.

² Your tongue devises destruction like a sharpened razor, O worker of deceit.

² My enemies pursue me all day long, for many proudly assail me.

⁴ My soul is among the lions; I lie down with ravenous beasts—with men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.

¹⁴ The arrogant rise against me, O God; a band of ruthless men seeks my life, with no regard for You.

¹ For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Rescue me, O LORD, from evil men. Protect me from men of violence,

⁴ Guard me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked. Keep me safe from men of violence who scheme to make me stumble.

¹¹ May no slanderer be established in the land; may calamity hunt down the man of violence.

³ For the enemy has pursued my soul, crushing my life to the ground, making me dwell in darkness like those long since dead.

² and the chief priests and scribes were looking for a way to put Jesus to death; for they feared the people.

⁵ But they kept insisting, “He stirs up the people all over Judea with His teaching. He began in Galilee and has come all the way here.”

²¹ but they kept shouting, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” ²² A third time he said to them, “What evil has this man done? I have found in Him no offense worthy of death. So after I punish Him, I will release Him.” ²³ But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices for Jesus to be crucified. And their clamor prevailed.

⁸ Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings

²⁰ Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of wild dogs. ²¹ Save me from the mouth of the lion; at the horns of the wild oxen You have answered me!

¹ In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. ² In Your justice, rescue and deliver me; incline Your ear and save me.

² Preserve my soul, for I am godly. You are my God; save Your servant who trusts in You.

⁷ The LORD will guard you from all evil; He will preserve your soul.

²⁶ You will have plenty to eat, until you are satisfied. You will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you. My people will never again be put to shame. ²⁷ Then you will know that I am present in Israel and that I am the LORD your God, and there is no other. My people will never again be put to shame.

⁴⁶ Then Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.” And when He had said this, He breathed His last.

⁵⁹ While they were stoning him, Stephen appealed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

¹¹ See, my father, look at the corner of your robe in my hand. For I cut it off, but I did not kill you. See and know that there is no evil or rebellion in my hands. I have not sinned against you, even though you are hunting me down to take my life. ¹² May the LORD judge between you and me, and may the LORD take vengeance on you, but my hand will never be against you. ¹³ As the old proverb says, ‘Wickedness proceeds from the wicked.’ But my hand will never be against you.

²³ May the LORD repay every man for his righteousness and faithfulness. For the LORD delivered you into my hand today, but I would not stretch out my hand against the LORD’s anointed.

⁸ The LORD judges the peoples; vindicate me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and integrity.

²⁰ The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; He has repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands. ²¹ For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²² For all His ordinances are before me; I have not disregarded His statutes. ²³ And I have been blameless before Him and kept myself from iniquity. ²⁴ So the LORD has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.

¹ Of David. Vindicate me, O LORD! For I have walked with integrity; I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.

¹¹ But I will walk with integrity; redeem me and be merciful to me.

¹² In my integrity You uphold me and set me in Your presence forever.

³ The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of the faithless destroys them.

²² My God sent His angel and shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, for I was found innocent in His sight, and I have done no wrong against you, O king.”

¹⁶ In this hope, I strive always to maintain a clear conscience before God and man.

¹⁰ Paul replied, “I am standing before the judgment seat of Caesar, where I ought to be tried. I have done nothing wrong to the Jews, as you yourself know very well. ¹¹ If, however, I am guilty of anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die. But if there is no truth to their accusations against me, no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!”

⁷ Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion! When the LORD restores His captive people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad!

¹⁸ In Your good pleasure, cause Zion to prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem. ¹⁹ Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, in whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on Your altar.

⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you prosper.

⁸ And He will redeem Israel from all iniquity.
