³³ Nevertheless you also individually, let each one love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respect her husband.

⁵ Slaves, obey your masters according to the flesh with fear and trembling, in simplicity of heart, as to Christ;

²⁷ Only conduct yourselves worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faith of the gospel,

²² Bondservants, obey your masters according to the flesh in all things, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.

¹² Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather become a pattern for the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

¹⁵ but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all manner of life,

¹² having your manner of life noble among the Gentiles, so that, whenever they speak against you as evildoers, when they observe the good works, they may glorify God in the day of visitation.

⁵ For thus formerly, the holy women who hoped on God also adorned themselves, subjecting themselves to their own husbands, ⁶ as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, of whom you became children, when you do good and are not afraid of any terror.

¹⁵ But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be prepared with a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; ¹⁶ having a good conscience, so that in what they speak against you as evildoers, those reviling your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame.
