¹⁹ So Rachel died, and was buried in the way of the course of Ephratha, (that is, Bethlehem.)

²² And Obed begot Jesse; and Jesse begot David.

¹ And the Lord said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I will send you to Jesse, to Bethlehem; for I have seen among his sons a king for Me.

¹³ And Jesse begot his firstborn Eliab, Abinadab was his second, Shimea the third, ¹⁴ Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, ¹⁵ Ozem the sixth, and David the seventh. ¹⁶ And their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. And the sons of Zeruiah were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel, three.

⁶ Behold, we heard of it in Ephratha; we found it in the fields of the wood.

² And you, Bethlehem, house of Ephratha, are few in number to be reckoned among the thousands of Judah; yet out of you shall one come forth to Me, to be a ruler of Israel; and His goings forth were from the beginning, even from eternity.

⁶ and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.
