¹¹ And Asa cried to the Lord his God, and said, O Lord, it is not impossible with You to save by many or by few: strengthen us, O Lord our God; for we trust in You, and in Your name we have come up against this great multitude. O Lord our God, let not man prevail against You.

¹⁰ And Pharaoh approached, and the children of Israel, having looked up, beheld, and the Egyptians encamped behind them. And they were very greatly terrified, and the children of Israel cried to the Lord,

⁸ And five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase tens of thousands; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

²⁷ Were it not for the wrath of the enemy, lest they should live long, lest their enemies should combine against them; lest they should say, Our own outstretched arm, and not the Lord's, has done all these things.

³⁰ How should one pursue a thousand, and two put tens of thousands to flight, if God had not sold them, and the Lord had not delivered them up?

³⁶ For the Lord shall judge His people, and shall be comforted over His servants; for He saw that they were utterly weakened, and failed in the hostile invasion, and have become feeble.

⁸ And what shall I say since Israel has turned his back before his enemy? ⁹ And when the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land hear it, they shall compass us round about and destroy us from off the land: and what will You do for Your great name?

⁷ And the Lord said to Gideon, I will save you by the three hundred men that lapped, and I will give Midian into your hand; and all the rest of the people shall go everyone to his place.

⁹ granting his petition to him that prays; and He blesses the years of the righteous, for by strength cannot man prevail.

⁶ And Jonathan said to the young man that bore his armor, Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; perhaps the Lord may do something for us; for nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.

³⁵ then I went forth after him, and killed him, and drew the spoil out of his mouth. And as he rose up against me, then I caught hold of his throat, and struck him, and killed him. ³⁶ Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear, and the uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them! Shall I not go and kill him, and remove this day this reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised one, who has defied the army of the living God?

⁴⁵ And David said to the Philistine, You come to me with sword, and with spear, and with shield; but I come to you in the name of the Lord God of hosts, of the army of Israel, which you have defied this day. ⁴⁶ And the Lord shall deliver you this day into my hand, and I will kill you, and take away your head from off of you, and I will give your limbs and the limbs of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky, and to the wild beasts of the earth; and all the earth shall know that there is a God in Israel.

²⁷ And the children of Israel were numbered, and came to meet them. And Israel encamped before them as two little flocks of goats, but Syria filled the land. ²⁸ Then the man of God came, and said to the king of Israel, Thus says the Lord: Because Syria has said, The Lord God of Israel is a God of the hills, and He is not a God of the valleys, therefore will I give this great army into your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord. ²⁹ And they encamped one over against the other before them for seven days. And it came to pass on the seventh day that the battle drew on, and Israel attacked Syria, even a hundred thousand footmen in one day. ³⁰ And the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and the wall fell upon twenty-seven thousand men that were left. And the son of Hadad fled, and entered into an inner chamber, into a closet.

²⁰ and they prevailed against them; and the Hagrites were given into their hands, they and all their tents, for they cried to God in the battle, and He hearkened to them, because they trusted on Him.

¹² And behold, the Lord and His priests are with us at our head, and the signal trumpets to sound an alarm over us. Children of Israel, fight not against the Lord God of our fathers; for you shall not prosper.

¹⁴ And Judah looked back, and behold, the battle was against them, ahead and behind. And they cried to the Lord, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.

¹⁸ So the children of Israel were brought low in that day, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they trusted on the Lord God of their fathers.

³¹ And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. And they compassed him round about to fight against him. And Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord delivered him; and God turned them away from him.

¹² O Lord our God, will You not judge them? For we have no strength to resist this great multitude that has come against us; and we know not what we shall do to them, but our eyes are toward You.

⁸ With him are arms of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to save us, and to fight our battle. And the people were encouraged at the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

²⁰ And King Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz prayed concerning these things, and they cried to heaven.

¹⁹ Arise, O Lord, let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged before You.

⁶ And when I was afflicted I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: He heard my voice out of His holy temple, and my cry shall enter before Him, into His ears.

⁵ We will rejoice in Your salvation, and in the name of our God shall we be magnified: May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.

⁷ Some glory in chariots, and some in horses: but we will glory in the name of the Lord our God.

⁵ They cried to You, and were saved; they hoped in You, and were not ashamed.

⁶ This poor man cried, and the Lord hearkened to him, and delivered him out of all his afflictions.

⁵ Disclose Your way to the Lord, and trust in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.

¹⁵ And call upon Me in the day of affliction; and I shall deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. Pause.

⁹ Help us, O God our Savior; for the glory of Your name, O Lord, deliver us; and be merciful to our sins, for Your name's sake. ¹⁰ Why should the heathen say, Where is their God? And let the avenging of Your servant's blood that has been shed be known among the heathen before our eyes.

¹⁵ He shall call upon Me, and I will hearken to him; I am with him in affliction; and I will deliver him, and glorify him.

¹ A Song of Degrees. In my affliction I cried to the Lord, and He hearkened to me.

¹⁰ The name of the Lord is of great strength; and the righteous running to it are exalted.

³ supporting truth, and keeping peace; for on You, O Lord, ⁴ they have trusted with confidence forever, the great, eternal God;

¹³ O Lord our God, take possession of us; O Lord, we know not any other beside You; we name Your name.

²⁹ He gives strength to the hungry, and sorrow to them that are not suffering. ³⁰ For the young men shall hunger, and the youths shall be weary, and the choice men shall be powerless; ³¹ but they that wait on God shall renew their strength; they shall put forth new feathers like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

¹⁰ Fear not; for I am with you; wander not; for I am your God, who has strengthened you; and I have helped you, and have established you with My righteous right hand. ¹¹ Behold, all your adversaries shall be ashamed and confounded; for they shall be as if they were not; and all your opponents shall perish. ¹² You shall seek them, and you shall not find the men who shall insolently rage against you; for they shall be as if they were not, and they that war against you shall not be. ¹³ For I am your God, who holds your right hand, who says to you, ¹⁴ Fear not, Jacob, and you Israel few in number; I have helped you, says your God, He that redeems you, O Israel.

¹⁹ And they shall fight against you, but they shall by no means prevail against you; because I am with you, to deliver you, says the Lord.

⁹ who dispenses ruin to strength, and brings distress upon the fortress.

⁸ For thus says the Lord Almighty; After the glory has he sent Me to the nations that spoiled you: for he that touches you is as one that touches the apple of His eye.

¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I shall build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.

¹ "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

²¹ And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

¹⁶ And on the basis of faith in His name, this one whom you observe and know, was made strong by His name. And the faith, which is by Him, has given to him this wholeness before you all.

⁴ And falling on the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

⁹ And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in calamities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For whenever I am weak, then I am strong.
