³ Moreover, because I took pleasure in the house of my God, I have gold and silver which I have procured for myself, and behold, I have given them to the house of my God over and above, beyond what I have prepared for the holy house.

⁹ And the people rejoiced because of the willingness, for they offered willingly to the Lord with a full heart; and King David rejoiced greatly.

¹⁷ And I know, O Lord, that You are He that searches the hearts, and You love righteousness. I have willingly offered all these things in simplicity of heart. And now I have seen with joy Your people, who are present here, willingly offering to You.

¹² And Hiram said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, who has given to King David a wise son, and one endowed with knowledge and understanding, who shall build a house for the Lord, and a house for his kingdom.

⁸ And he made ten tables, and put them in the temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left. And he made a hundred golden bowls.

⁷ And he carried away a part of the vessels of the house of the Lord to Babylon, and put them in his temple in Babylon.

Whomever he wished, he executed; whomever he wished, he exalted; and whomever he wished, he abased. ²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was emboldened to act proudly, he was deposed from his royal throne, and his honor was taken from him. ²¹ And he was driven forth from men. And a heart was given to him after the nature of wild beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. And they fed him with grass like an ox, and his body was bathed with the dew of heaven, until he knew that the Most High God is Lord of the kingdom of men, and will give it to whomever He chooses.

²³ And you have exalted yourself against the Lord God of heaven; and they have brought before you the vessels of His house, and you, your nobles, your mistresses, and your concubines have drunk wine out of them; and you have praised the gods of gold, silver, brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, and which hear not, and know not: and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.

²⁶ This decree has been set forth by me in every dominion of my kingdom, that men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for He is the living and eternal God, and His kingdom shall not be destroyed, and His dominion is forever.

¹ In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of the prophet Haggai, saying, Speak to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, of the tribe of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

¹⁴ And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, of the tribe of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the remnant of all the people; and they went in, and worked in the house of the Lord Almighty their God,

^{2 (2:3)} Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, of the tribe of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to all the remnant of the people, saying, ^{3 (2:4)} Who is there of you that saw this house in her former glory? And how do you now look upon it, as it were nothing before your eyes? ^{4 (2:5)} Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, says the Lord; and strengthen yourself, O Joshua the high priest, the son of Jehozadak; and let all the people of the land strengthen themselves, says the Lord, and work, for I am with you, say the Lord Almighty;

⁶ And he answered and spoke to me, saying, This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, not by mighty power, nor by strength, but by My Spirit, says the Lord Almighty. ⁷ Who are you, O great mountain before Zerubbabel, that you should prosper? Whereas I will bring out the stone of the inheritance, its grace equal to My grace. ⁸ And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ⁹ The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands shall finish it; and you shall know that the Lord Almighty has sent Me to you. ¹⁰ For who has despised the small days? Surely they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet of tin in the hand of Zerubbabel: these are the seven eyes that look upon all the earth.

¹¹ Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the captivity in Babylon. ¹² And after the captivity in Babylon, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel.

¹ In those days John the Baptist arrived preaching in the wilderness of Judea, ² and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" ³ For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: "A voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the LORD; make His paths straight.' "

²⁹ Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them shall fall on the ground apart from the will of your Father. ³⁰ But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. ³¹ Therefore do not fear; you are worth more than many sparrows.

⁸ So she, being urged on by her mother, said, "Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist."

²⁰ teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

²³ He said: "I am 'The voice of one crying in the wilderness: "Make straight the way of the LORD," ' just as Isaiah the prophet said."

³⁶ The word which God sent to the sons of Israel, preaching the good news of peace through Jesus Christ--He being Lord of all--

¹⁷ And after many years I arrived to bring alms and offerings to my nation,

²³ and so that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory,

¹⁶ But thanks be to God who puts the same earnest care for you in the heart of Titus.

⁷ Let each one give just as he decides in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

² Bear one another's burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ.

¹³ for it is God who is working in you, both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

¹⁹ Nevertheless the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those that are His," and, "Let everyone naming the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness." ²⁰ Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. ²¹ Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, having been consecrated and useful to the Master, having been prepared for every good work.

¹⁶ Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. ¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

⁶ who gave testimony concerning your love before the church, with reference to whom you will do well if you send them forth in a manner worthy of God, ⁷ for on behalf of the Name they went out, taking nothing from the pagans. ⁸ We therefore ought to receive such, in order that we may become fellow workers with the truth.

¹¹ Beloved, do not imitate the evil, but the good. He who does good is of God; he who does evil has not seen God.
