¹ And after these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram, I am your shield. Your reward shall be very great. ² And Abram said, Master and Lord, what shall You give me? Seeing I am departing without a child, but the son of Masek my home-born female slave, this Eliezer of Damascus is my heir. ³ And Abram said, I am grieved since You have given me no seed, but my home-born servant shall succeed me. ⁴ And immediately the voice of the Lord came to him, saying, This shall not be your heir; but he that shall come out of you shall be your heir. ⁵ And He brought him out and said to him, Look up now to heaven, and count the stars, if you shall be able to number them fully, and He said, Thus shall your seed be. ⁶ And Abram believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. ⁷ And He said to him, I am God that brought you out of the land of the Chaldeans, so as to give you this land to inherit. ⁸ And he said, Master and Lord, how shall I know that I shall inherit it? ⁹ And He said to him, Take for Me a heifer in her third year, and a female goat in her third year, and a ram in his third year, and a dove and a pigeon. ¹⁰ So he took to Him all these, and divided them in the midst, and set them opposite to each other, but the birds he did not divide. ¹¹ And birds came down upon the bodies, even upon the divided parts of them, and Abram sat down by them. ¹² And about sunset a trance fell upon Abram, and behold, a great gloomy terror fell upon him. ¹³ And it was said to Abram, You shall surely know that your decendants shall be sojourners in a land not their own, and they shall enslave them, and afflict them, and humble them four hundred years. ¹⁴ And the nation whom they shall serve I will judge; and after this, they shall come forth with much property. ¹⁵ But you shall depart to your fathers in peace, nourished in a good old age. ¹⁶ And in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the sins of the Amorites are not yet filled up, even until now. ¹⁷ And when the sun was about to set, there was a flame, and behold, a smoking furnace and lamps of fire, which passed between these divided pieces. ¹⁸ In that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, To your seed I will give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river Euphrates. ¹⁹ The Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, ²⁰ the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, ²¹ the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hivites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

¹⁴ And the nation whom they shall serve I will judge; and after this, they shall come forth with much property. ¹⁵ But you shall depart to your fathers in peace, nourished in a good old age. ¹⁶ And in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the sins of the Amorites are not yet filled up, even until now.

¹⁷ And God heard the voice of the child from the place where he was, and an angel of God called Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, What is it, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the child from the place where he is.

²⁴ And the Lord appeared to him in that night and said, I am the God of Abraham your father; fear not, for I am with you, and I will bless you, and multiply your seed for the sake of Abraham your father.

² And God spoke to Israel in a night vision, saying, Jacob, Jacob; and he said, What is it? ³ And He said to him, I am the God of your fathers; fear not to go down into Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there.

¹³ And Moses said to the people, Be of good courage: stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will work for us this day; for as you have seen the Egyptians today, you shall see them again no more forever.

⁶ And He said to them, Hear My words: If there should be a prophet among you of the Lord, I will be made known to him in a vision, and in sleep will I speak to him.

⁶ Be courageous and strong; fear not, neither be cowardly neither be afraid before them; for it is the Lord your God that advances with you in the midst of you, neither will He by any means forsake you, nor desert you.

²⁶ There is not any such as the God of the beloved; He who rides upon the heaven is your helper, and the Magnificent One of the firmament. ²⁷ And the rule of God shall protect you, and that under the strength of the everlasting arms; and He shall cast forth the enemy from before your face, saying, Perish. ²⁸ And Israel shall dwell in confidence alone on the land of Jacob, with grain and wine; and the sky shall be misty with dew upon you. ²⁹ Blessed are you, O Israel; who is like you, O people saved by the Lord? Your helper shall hold His shield over you, and His sword is your boast; and your enemies shall speak falsely to you, and you shall tread upon their neck.

¹² The Lord recompense your work; may a full reward be given you of the Lord God of Israel, to whom you have come to trust under His wings.

⁹ Now formerly in Israel, everyone who went to inquire of God said, Come and let us go to the seer; for the people formerly called the prophet, the seer.

²⁰ And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong, and of good courage, and do it: fear not, neither be terrified; for the Lord my God is with you; He will not forsake you, and will not fail you, until you have finished all the work of the service of the house of the Lord. And behold the pattern of the temple, even His house, and its treasury, and the upper chambers, and the inner store rooms, and the place of propitiation, and the plan of the house of the Lord.

³ But You, O Lord, are my helper; my glory, and the One that lifts up my head.

¹² For You, O Lord, shall bless the righteous: You have compassed us as with a shield of favor.

⁵ The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: You are He that restores my inheritance to me. ⁶ The lines have fallen to me in the best places; yea, I have a most excellent heritage.

² The Lord is my firm support, and my refuge, and my deliverer; my God is my helper, I will hope in Him; He is my defender, and the horn of my salvation, and my helper.

¹ A Psalm of David, before he was anointed. The Lord is my light and my Savior; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defender of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

¹¹ And a man shall say, Verily then there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judges them in the earth.

⁹ Behold, O God our defender, and look upon the face of Your anointed.

¹¹ For the Lord loves mercy and truth; God will give grace and glory; the Lord will not withhold good things from them that walk in innocence.

⁴ He shall overshadow you with His shoulders, and You shall trust under His wings; His truth shall cover you with a shield.

¹¹⁴ You are my helper and my supporter; I have hoped in Your words.

⁵ I cried unto You, O Lord, and said, You are my hope, my portion in the land of the living.

¹⁸ An ungodly man performs unrighteous works, but the seed of the righteous is a reward of truth.

⁵ For all the words of God are tried in the fire, and He defends those that reverence Him.

⁴ Comfort one another, you fainthearted; be strong, fear not; behold, our God renders judgment, and He will render it; He will come and save us.

¹⁰ Fear not; for I am with you; wander not; for I am your God, who has strengthened you; and I have helped you, and have established you with My righteous right hand.

¹⁴ Fear not, Jacob, and you Israel few in number; I have helped you, says your God, He that redeems you, O Israel.

¹ And now thus says the Lord God that made you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel, Fear not; for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are Mine.

⁵ Fear not; for I am with you; I will bring your seed from the east, and will gather you from the west.

² Thus says the Lord God that made you, and He that formed you from the womb; You shall yet be helped; fear not, My servant Jacob; and beloved Israel, whom I have chosen.

⁸ Hide not yourselves, nor go astray; have you not heard from the beginning, and have I not told you? You are witnesses if there is a God beside Me.

¹² I, even I, am He that comforts you; consider who you are, that you were afraid of mortal man, and of the son of man, who have withered as grass.

²⁴ The Lord is my portion, says my soul; therefore will I wait for Him.

¹ Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, that I was in the midst of the captivity by the River Chebar; and the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

⁴ And He said to me, Son of man, go your way, and go in to the house of Israel, and speak My words to them.

²⁴ And the Spirit took me up, and brought me to the land of the Chaldeans, to the captivity, in a vision by the Spirit of God: and I went up after the vision which I saw.

¹ In the third year of Cyrus king of the Persians a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, and great power and understanding in the vision was given to him. ² In those days I, Daniel was mourning three full weeks. ³ I ate no pleasant bread, and no flesh or wine entered into my mouth, neither did I anoint myself with oil, until three whole weeks were accomplished. ⁴ On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, I was near the great river, that is, the Tigris. ⁵ And I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, a man clothed in linen, and his loins were girt with gold of Ophaz. ⁶ And his body was like beryl, and his face was as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his legs as the appearance of shining brass, and the voice of his words as the voice of a multitude. ⁷ And I, Daniel alone saw the vision: and the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great amazement fell upon them, and they fled in fear. ⁸ So I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there was no strength left in me, and my glory was turned into corruption, and I retained no strength. ⁹ Yet I heard the voice of his words; and when I heard him I was cut to the heart, and I fell with my face to the earth. ¹⁰ And behold, a hand touched me, and it raised me on my knees. ¹¹ And he said to me, O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words which I speak to you, and stand upright, for I am now sent to you. And when he had spoken to me this word, I stood trembling. ¹² And he said to me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to afflict yourself before the Lord your God, your words were heard, and I have come because of your words. ¹³ But the prince of the kingdom of the Persians withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the princes, came to help me; and I left him there with the prince of the kingdom of the Persians. ¹⁴ And I have come to inform you of all that shall befall your people in the last days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come. ¹⁵ And when he had spoken with me according to these words, I turned my face to the ground, and was cut to the heart. ¹⁶ And behold, as it were the likeness of a son of man touched my lips; and I opened my mouth, and spoke, and said to him that stood before me, O my lord, at the sight of you my insides were turned within me, and I had no strength.

²⁶ But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then having risen, He rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

²⁸ And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both the soul and the body in hell. ²⁹ Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them shall fall on the ground apart from the will of your Father. ³⁰ But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. ³¹ Therefore do not fear; you are worth more than many sparrows.

⁵ But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.

¹³ But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zacharias, because your prayer has been heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear a son to you, and you shall call his name John.

³⁰ Then the angel said to her, "Fear not, Mary, for you have found grace with God.

³² Do not fear, little flock, because your Father is well pleased to give to you the kingdom.

¹⁰ And he became hungry and wanted to eat; but while they were preparing, a trance fell on him. ¹¹ and he saw heaven having been opened, and descending to him a certain vessel like a great sheet, having been bound at the four corners, and being let down upon the ground, ¹² in which were all the four-footed animals of the earth and the wild animals, and the reptiles, and the birds of the air. ¹³ And there came a voice to him, "Arise, Peter; kill and eat." ¹⁴ But Peter said, "By no means, Lord! For never did I eat anything common or unclean." ¹⁵ And a voice spoke again the second time to him, "That which God has made clean, you must not make common." ¹⁶ And this happened three times, and again the vessel was taken up into heaven. ¹⁷ Now as Peter was very perplexed within himself as to what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius, having found by inquiry the house of Simon, stood at the gateway.

²² And they said, "Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and fearing God, having a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was given a revelation by a holy angel to send for you to his house, and to hear words from you."

²² whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come-all things are yours.

¹ God, who in various ways and in many ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

⁵ Let your way of life be without loving money, being satisfied with what you have. For He Himself has said, "By no means shall I desert you, nor in any way shall I forsake you;" ⁶ so that being confident, we may say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

¹⁷ And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as if dead. But He put His right hand on me, saying, "Do not fear; I am the First and the Last.

³ And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He shall dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them. ⁴ And He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying out; neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away."

¹ And the Lord said to Abram, Go forth out of your land, and out from your family, and out of the house of your father, into the land which I will show you. ² And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and magnify your name, and you shall be blessed. ³ And I will bless those that bless you, and curse those that curse you, and in you shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed.

² And Abraham said to his servant the elder of his house, who had rule over all his possessions, Put your hand under my thigh,

¹⁰ And the servant took ten camels of his master's camels, and he took of all the goods of his master with him, and he arose and went into Mesopotamia to the city of Nahor.

²¹ Now Isaac prayed to the Lord concerning Rebecca his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord heard him, and his wife Rebecca conceived in her womb.

¹ And Rachel, having perceived that she bore Jacob no children, was jealous of her sister; and said to Jacob, Give me children; and if not, I shall die. ² And Jacob was angry with Rachel, and said to her, Am I in the place of God, who has deprived you of the fruit of the womb?

⁴ And Joseph found grace in the presence of his master, and was well-pleasing to him; and he set him over his house; and all that he had, he gave into the hand of Joseph. ⁵ And it came to pass after that he was set over his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the house of the Egyptian for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all his possessions in the house, and in his field. ⁶ And he committed all that he had into the hands of Joseph; and he knew not of anything that belonged to him, except the bread which he himself ate. And Joseph was handsome in form, and exceedingly beautiful in countenance.

⁹ and in this house there is nothing above me, nor has anything been kept back from me, but you, because you are his wife — how then shall I do this wicked thing, and sin against God?

¹⁹ And having approached the man who was over the house of Joseph, they spoke to him in the porch of the house,

¹ And Joseph charged the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put the money of each in the mouth of his sack.

¹¹ And she vowed a vow to the Lord, saying, O Lord God of Sabaoth, if You will indeed look upon the humiliation of Your maidservant and remember me, and give to your maidservant a male child, then will I indeed dedicate him to You till the day of his death; and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink, and no razor shall come upon his head.

³ Behold, the inheritance of the Lord, children, the reward of the fruit of the womb.

¹² Better is he that begins to help heartily, than he that promises and leads another to hope; for a good desire is a tree of life.

² A wise servant shall have rule over foolish masters, and shall divide portions among brethren.

⁵ I will give to them in My house and within My walls an honorable place, better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name, and it shall not fail.

⁵ And He gave him no inheritance in it, not even a place to put his foot on, and He promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his descendants after him, though he had no child.

² And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and magnify your name, and you shall be blessed.

¹⁶ And I will make your seed like the dust of the earth; if anyone is able to number the dust of the earth, then shall your seed be numbered.

¹⁴ And Abram, having heard that Lot his nephew had been taken captive, numbered his own home-born servants three hundred and eighteen, and pursued after them to Dan.

²¹ He that lives wantonly from a child shall be a servant, and in the end shall grieve over himself.

²³ or if a maid-servant should cast out her own mistress, and if a hateful woman should marry a good man.

⁷ I acquired servants and maidens, and servants were born to me in the house. Also I had abundant possessions of flocks and herds, beyond all who were before me in Jerusalem.

¹ Righteous are You, O Lord, that I may make my defense to You: yet I will speak to You of judgments. Why is it that the way of the ungodly prospers? And all that deal very treacherously are flourishing?

³⁵ Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has a great recompense. ³⁶ For you have need of endurance, so that having done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

¹⁶ And I will bless her, and give you a son by her, and I will bless him, and he shall become nations, and kings of nations shall be of him.

¹² But God said to Abraham, Let it not be distressing before you concerning the child, and concerning the bondwoman; whatever Sarah shall say to you, listen to her voice, for in Isaac shall your seed be called.

¹² And it shall come to pass when your days have been fulfilled, and you sleep with your fathers, that I will raise up your seed after you, even from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom.

¹¹ And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, Behold, my son who came forth out of my bowels seeks my life; still more now may the son of Benjamin: let him curse, because the Lord has told him.

²¹ And the Lord sent an angel, and He destroyed every mighty man and warrior, and leader and captain in the camp of the king of Assyria; and he returned with shame of face to his own land and came into the house of his god. And some of his own offspring killed him with the sword.

²⁸ But we, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise.

¹² whom I am sending back. You then receive him, that is, my very heart;

¹⁰ And the Angel of the Lord said to her, I will surely multiply your seed, so that they shall not be numbered for multitude.

¹⁷ surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is by the shore of the sea, and your seed shall inherit the cities of their enemies.

⁴ And I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven; and I will give to your seed all this land, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in your seed.

¹⁴ And your seed shall be as the sand of the earth; and it shall spread abroad to the sea, and the south, and the north, and to the east; and in you and in your seed shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed.

¹³ remembering Abraham and Isaac and Jacob Your servants, to whom You have sworn by Yourself, and have spoken to them, saying, I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of heaven for multitude, and all this land which You spoke of to give to them, so that they shall possess it forever.

¹⁰ The Lord your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are today as the stars of heaven in multitude.

²² With seventy souls your fathers went down into Egypt; but the Lord your God has made you as the stars of heaven in multitude.

²³ But David took not their number from twenty years old and under, because the Lord said that he would multiply Israel as the stars of the heaven.

⁴ He numbers the multitudes of stars; and calls them all by name.

¹⁸ who, contrary to hope, on hope believed, so that he should become a father of many nations, according to what was spoken, "So shall your descendants be."

⁷ nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, "In Isaac your seed shall be called." ⁸ That is, those who are the children of the flesh, are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

¹² Therefore even from one man they were begotten, and him as good as dead, just as the stars of the sky in multitude, and innumerable as the sand by the seashore.

³¹ And it was counted to him for righteousness, to all generations forever.

³ For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." ⁴ Now to him who works, the reward is not accounted according to grace but according to debt. ⁵ But to him who does not work but believes on Him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, ⁶ just as David also speaks of the blessing of the man to whom God accounts righteousness apart from works:

⁹ Does this blessing then come upon the circumcision, or also upon the uncircumcised? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness.

¹¹ And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while in uncircumcision, so that he should be the father of all those that believe, although uncircumcised, so that righteousness should also be imputed to them,

²⁰ he did not waver at the promise of God in unbelief, but was empowered by faith, giving glory to God, ²¹ and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to do. ²² And therefore "it was accounted to him for righteousness." ²³ Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was accounted to him, ²⁴ but for us also, to whom it was going to be imputed, those believing on Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, ²⁵ who was delivered up for our transgressions, and was raised for our justification.

¹⁹ that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not reckoning their transgressions to them, and committing to us the word of this reconciliation.

⁶ Just as Abraham "believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness." ⁷ Know therefore that those who are of faith, these are sons of Abraham. ⁸ And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying that, "In you all the nations shall be blessed." ⁹ Therefore those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. ¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all the things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." ¹¹ But that no one is justified by the law before God is evident, for "The just shall live by faith." ¹² But the law is not of faith, but "the man who does them shall live by them." ¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree," ¹⁴ so that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

⁸ By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go forth to the place which he was about to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

²³ And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called a friend of God.

²⁸ And Haran died in the presence of Terah his father, in the land in which he was born, in the country of the Chaldees. ²⁹ And Abram and Nahor took to themselves wives; the name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nachor's wife was Milcah, daughter of Haran, and he was the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah. ³⁰ And Sarai was barren, and did not bear children. ³¹ And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot his grandson, the son of Haran, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, the wife of Abram his son, and led them forth out of the land of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan, and they came as far as Haran, and dwelt there.

¹ And the Lord said to Abram, Go forth out of your land, and out from your family, and out of the house of your father, into the land which I will show you.

⁷ Then the Lord appeared to Abram, and said to him, I will give this land to your seed. And Abram built an altar there to the Lord who appeared to him.

¹⁵ for all the land which you see, I will give to you and to your seed forever. ¹⁶ And I will make your seed like the dust of the earth; if anyone is able to number the dust of the earth, then shall your seed be numbered. ¹⁷ Arise, walk in the land, both in the length of it and in the breadth; for to you will I give it, and to your seed forever.

⁷ You are the Lord God, You chose Abram, and brought him out of the land of the Chaldeans, and gave him the name of Abraham. ⁸ And You found his heart faithful before You, and made a covenant with him to give to him and to his seed the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, and the Girgashites; and You have confirmed Your words, for You are righteous.

¹¹ saying, To you will I give the land of Canaan, the line of your inheritance;

⁴² For He remembered His holy word, which He promised to Abraham His servant.

⁴⁴ and He gave them the lands of the heathen; and they inherited the labors of the people;

² And he said, "Men, brothers and fathers, listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, ³ and said to him, 'Go out from your land and from your relatives, and come to a land which I will show you.' ⁴ Then he went forth from the land of the Chaldeans and settled down in Haran. And from there, after his father was dead, He moved him to this land in which you now dwell.

¹³ For the promise that he should be heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

² And Abraham said to his servant the elder of his house, who had rule over all his possessions, Put your hand under my thigh, ³ and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that you take not a wife for my son Isaac from the daughters of the Canaanites, with whom I dwell, in the midst of them. ⁴ But you shall go instead to my country, where I was born, and to my tribe, and you shall take from there a wife for my son Isaac.

¹³ Behold, I stand by the well of water, and the daughters of them that inhabit the city come forth to draw water. ¹⁴ And it shall be, the virgin to whomsoever I shall say, Let down your water pot, that I may drink, and she shall say, Drink, and I will give your camels a drink, until they have finished drinking — even this one You have prepared for Your servant Isaac, and hereby shall I know that You have dealt mercifully with my master Abraham.

¹⁷ And Gideon said to him, If now I have found mercy in Your eyes, and You will do this day for me all that You have spoken of with me, ¹⁸ do not depart from here until I come to You, and I will bring forth an offering and offer it before You. And He said, I will remain until you return. ¹⁹ And Gideon went in, and prepared a young goat, and unleavened bread from an ephah of fine flour; and he put the flesh in the basket, and poured the broth into the pot, and brought them forth to Him under the terebinth tree, and drew near. ²⁰ And the Angel of God said to him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and put them on that rock, and pour out the broth close by: and he did so. ²¹ And the Angel of the Lord stretched out the end of the rod that was in His hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened bread; and fire came up out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened bread, and the Angel of the Lord vanished from his sight. ²² And Gideon saw that He was the Angel of the Lord; and Gideon said, Ah, O Lord my God! For I have seen the Angel of the Lord face to face. ²³ And the Lord said to him, Peace be with you, fear not, you shall not die. ²⁴ And Gideon built there an altar to the Lord, and called it The Peace of the Lord, until this day, as it is still in Ephratha of the father of Esdri.

³⁶ And Gideon said to God, If you will save Israel by my hand, as You have said, ³⁷ behold, I put the fleece of wool in the threshing floor: if there be dew on the fleece only, and drought on all the ground, I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said. ³⁸ And it was so. And he rose up early in the morning, and wrung the fleece, and dew dropped from the fleece, a bowl full of water. ³⁹ And Gideon said to God, Let not Your anger be kindled with me, and I will speak yet once; I will even yet make one trial more with the fleece: let now the drought be upon the fleece only, and let there be dew on all the ground. ⁴⁰ And God did so in that night; and there was drought on the fleece only, and on all the ground there was dew.

⁹ If they should say thus to us, Wait until we send you word; then we will stand still by ourselves, and will not go up against them. ¹⁰ But if they should say thus to us, Come up to us; then will we go up, for the Lord has delivered them into our hands. This shall be a sign to us.

⁸ And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, What is the sign that the Lord will heal me, and I shall go up to the house of the Lord on the third day?

¹⁷ Establish with me a token for good; and let them that hate me see it and be ashamed; because You, O Lord, have helped me, and comforted me.

¹¹ Ask for yourself a sign of the Lord your God, in the depth or in the height.

¹⁸ And Zacharias said to the angel, "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years."

³⁴ Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?"

¹³ And Abraham lifted up his eyes and beheld, and lo! A ram caught by his horns in a plant of Sabek; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a whole burnt offering in the place of Isaac his son.

³ If his gift be a whole burnt offering, he shall bring an unblemished male of the herd to the door of the tabernacle of witness, he shall bring it as acceptable before the Lord.

¹⁰ And if his gift be of the sheep to the Lord, or of the lambs, or of the kids for a whole burnt offering, he shall bring a male without blemish.

¹⁴ And if he bring his gift, a burnt offering to the Lord, of birds, then shall he bring his gift of doves or pigeons.

¹ And if his gift to the Lord be a peace-offering, if he should bring it of the oxen, whether it be male or whether it be female, he shall bring it unblemished before the Lord.

⁶ And if his gift be of the sheep, a peace-offering to the Lord, male or female, he shall bring it unblemished.

² and Moses said to Aaron, Take to yourself a young calf of the herd for a sin-offering, and a ram for a whole burnt offering, unblemished, and offer them before the Lord.

⁴ and a calf and a ram for a peace offering before the Lord, and fine flour mingled with oil, for today the Lord will appear among you.

⁸ And if she cannot afford a lamb, then shall she take two turtle doves or two young pigeons, one for a whole burnt offering, and one for a sin-offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she shall be purified.

²² and two turtle doves, or two young pigeons, as he can afford; and the one shall be for a sin-offering, and the other for a whole burnt offering.

³⁰ And he shall offer one of the turtle doves or of the young pigeons, as he can afford it,

⁵ Assemble His saints to Him, those that have engaged in a covenant with Him upon sacrifices.

⁵ The heart of the region of Moab cries within her to Segor; for it is as a heifer of three years old; and on the Ascent of Luith they shall go up to you weeping by the way of Aroniim; she cries, Destruction, and trembling.

²⁴ and to offer a sacrifice according to what had been said in the law of the Lord, "A pair of doves or two young pigeons."

¹⁷ And when the sun was about to set, there was a flame, and behold, a smoking furnace and lamps of fire, which passed between these divided pieces.

¹⁷ And he shall break it off from the wings and shall not separate it, and the priest shall put it on the altar on the wood which is on the fire: it is a burnt offering, a sacrifice, a sweet-smelling savor to the Lord.

¹⁸ And I will give the men that have transgressed My covenant, who have not kept My covenant, which they made before Me, the calf which they prepared to sacrifice with it, ¹⁹ the princes of Judah, and the men in power, and the priests, and the people.

¹⁵ Be diligent to show yourself approved unto God, a worker unashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

¹³ With my lips have I declared all the judgments of Your mouth.

³ and you shall say, Thus says the Lord: A great eagle with large wings, spreading them out very far, with many claws, which has the design of entering into Lebanon — and he took the choice branches of the cedar;

⁷ And there was another great eagle, with great wings and many claws. And behold, this vine bent itself round toward him, and its roots were turned towards him, and it sent forth its branches towards him, that he might water it together with the growth of its plantation.

⁴ And as he sowed, some seed fell alongside the road; and the birds came and devoured them.

²¹ And God brought a trance upon Adam, and he slept, and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.

¹² So David took the spear, and the pitcher of water from his bolster, and they went home. And there was no one that saw, and no one that knew, and there was no one that awoke, all being asleep, for a stupor from the Lord had fallen upon them.

¹³ But as when terror falls upon men, with dread and a sound in the night, ¹⁴ horror and trembling seized me, and caused all my bones greatly to shake.

¹⁵ sending a dream, or in the meditation of the night (as when a dreadful alarm happens to fall upon men, while sleeping on the bed),

³ But know that the Lord has done wondrous things for His holy one: the Lord will hear me when I cry to Him. ⁴ Be angry, and sin not; feel compunction upon your beds for what you say in your hearts. Pause. ⁵ Offer the sacrifice of righteousness, and trust in the Lord.

⁸ So I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there was no strength left in me, and my glory was turned into corruption, and I retained no strength. ⁹ Yet I heard the voice of his words; and when I heard him I was cut to the heart, and I fell with my face to the earth.

⁸ And Saul arose from the ground, and although his eyes were open, he saw no one; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus. ⁹ And he was three days not seeing, and neither ate nor drank.

⁹ And a certain young man named Eutychus sat in the window, being overwhelmed by a deep sleep. While Paul was speaking for a while longer, having been overwhelmed by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.

⁸ And I will give to you and to your seed after you the land in which you sojourn, even all the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession, and I will be to them a God.

¹ These are the names of the sons of Israel that came into Egypt, together with Jacob their father. They came in each with their whole family. ² Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah,

¹¹ And he set over them taskmasters, who should afflict them in their works; and they built strong cities for Pharaoh, both Pithom, and Raamses, and On, which is Heliopolis.

¹ And after this Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they said to him, Thus says the Lord God of Israel: Let My people go, that they may keep a feast to Me in the wilderness. ² And Pharaoh said, Who is He that I should listen to His voice, so that I should send away the children of Israel? I do not know the Lord, and I will not let Israel go. ³ And they said to him, The God of the Hebrews has called us to Him: we will go, therefore, on a three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God, lest at any time death or slaughter happen to us. ⁴ And the king of Egypt said to them, Why do you, Moses and Aaron, turn the people from their works? Depart, each of you, to your works. ⁵ And Pharaoh said, Behold now, the people are very numerous; let us not then give them rest from their work. ⁶ And Pharaoh gave orders to the taskmasters of the people and the accountants, saying, ⁷ You shall no longer give straw to the people for brickmaking as yesterday and the third day; but let them go themselves, and collect straw for themselves. ⁸ And you shall impose on them daily the rate of brickmaking which they perform: you shall not reduce anything, for they are idle. Therefore have they cried, saying, Let us arise and do sacrifice to our God. ⁹ Let the works of these men be made grievous, and let them care for these things, and not care for vain words. ¹⁰ And the taskmasters and the accountants hastened them, and they spoke to the people, saying, thus says Pharaoh: I will give you straw no longer. ¹¹ Go yourselves, get for yourselves straw wherever you can find it, for nothing is diminished from your rate. ¹² So the people were dispersed in all the land of Egypt, to gather stubble for straw. ¹³ And the taskmasters hastened them, saying, Fulfill your regular daily tasks, even as when straw was given to you. ¹⁴ And the accountants of the race of the children of Israel, who were set over them by the masters of Pharaoh, were scourged, and were asked, Why have you not fulfilled your rates of brickwork as yesterday and the third day, and today also? ¹⁵ And the accountants of the children of Israel went in and cried to Pharaoh, saying, Why do you act thus to your servants? ¹⁶ Straw is not given to your servants, and they tell us to make bricks; and behold, your servants have been scourged; therefore you will injure your people. ¹⁷ And he said to them, You are idle, you are idlers. Therefore you say, Let us go and do sacrifice to our God. ¹⁸ Now then go and work, for straw shall not be given to you, yet you shall return the rate of bricks. ¹⁹ And the accountants of the children of Israel saw themselves in an evil plight, for men were saying, You shall not fail to deliver the daily rate of the brick-making. ²⁰ And they met Moses and Aaron coming forth to meet them, as they came forth from Pharaoh. ²¹ And they said to them, The Lord look upon you and judge you, for you have made our scent abominable before Pharaoh, and before his servants, to put a sword into his hands to kill us. ²² And Moses turned to the Lord and said, I pray, O Lord, why have You afflicted this people? And why have You sent me? ²³ For from the time that I went to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has afflicted this people, and You have not delivered Your people.

⁴⁰ And the sojourning of the children of Israel, while they sojourned in the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan, was four hundred and thirty years. ⁴¹ And it came to pass after the four hundred and thirty years, all the forces of the Lord came forth out of the land of Egypt by night.

²¹ And you shall not hurt a stranger, nor afflict him; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

⁹ And you shall not afflict a stranger, for you know the heart of a stranger; for you yourselves were strangers in the land of Egypt.

³⁴ The stranger that comes to you shall be among you as the native, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

¹⁹ And you shall love the stranger; for you also were strangers in the land of Egypt.

¹¹ saying, To you will I give the land of Canaan, the line of your inheritance; ¹² when they were few in number, very few, and sojourners in it.

²³ Israel also came into Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. ²⁴ And He increased His people greatly, and made them stronger than their enemies. ²⁵ And He turned their heart to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants.

⁶ But God spoke in this way: that his offspring would dwell in a foreign land, and that they would enslave them, and they would treat them badly four hundred years. ⁷ 'And the nation which they will serve, I will judge,' said God, 'and after these things they will come out and serve Me in this place.'

¹⁷ Now when the time of the promise drew near which God swore to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,

¹⁷ And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, does not annul the covenant previously confirmed to Christ by God, so that it make the promise of no effect.

⁸ By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go forth to the place which he was about to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. ⁹ By faith he migrated into a land of promise as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the fellow heirs of the same promise; ¹⁰ for he waited for the city having foundations, whose builder and maker is God. ¹¹ By faith Sarah herself also received power for conception of seed, and she bore a child past the normal age, because she regarded Him faithful who had promised. ¹² Therefore even from one man they were begotten, and him as good as dead, just as the stars of the sky in multitude, and innumerable as the sand by the seashore. ¹³ These all died according to faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off and welcoming them, and confessing that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

¹ And Israel departed, he and all that he had, and came to the Well of the Oath; and he offered sacrifice to the God of his father Isaac. ² And God spoke to Israel in a night vision, saying, Jacob, Jacob; and he said, What is it? ³ And He said to him, I am the God of your fathers; fear not to go down into Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there. ⁴ And I will go down with you into Egypt, and I will bring you up at the end; and Joseph shall put his hands on your eyes. ⁵ And Jacob rose up from the Well of the Oath; and the sons of Israel took up their father, and the baggage, and their wives on the wagons, which Joseph sent to take them. ⁶ And they took up their goods, and all their property, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and they came into the land of Egypt; Jacob, and all his seed with him. ⁷ The sons, and the sons of his sons with him; his daughters, and the daughters of his daughters; and he brought all his seed into Egypt. ⁸ And these are the names of the sons of Israel that went into Egypt with their father Jacob — Jacob and his sons. The firstborn of Jacob was Reuben. ⁹ And the sons of Reuben were Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi. ¹⁰ And the sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman. ¹¹ And the sons of Levi were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. ¹² And the sons of Judah were Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan). ¹³ And the sons of Perez were Esron, and Jemuel. And the sons of Issachar were Tola, Puvah, Job, and Shimron. ¹⁴ And the sons of Zebulun were Sered, Elon, and Jahleel. ¹⁵ These are the sons of Leah, which she bore to Jacob in Mesopotamia of Syria, with Dinah his daughter; all the persons, sons and daughters, were thirty-three. ¹⁶ And the sons of Gad were Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbron, Eri, Arodi, and Areli. ¹⁷ And the sons of Asher were Jimnah, Ishuah, Isui, Beriah, and Serah, their sister. And the sons of Beriah were Heber and Malchiel. ¹⁸ These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Leah, who bore these to Jacob, sixteen persons. ¹⁹ And the sons of Rachel, the wife of Jacob, were Joseph and Benjamin. ²⁰ And there were sons born to Joseph in the land of Egypt, whom Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of Heliopolis, bore to him, even Manasseh and Ephraim. And there were sons born to Manasseh, which the Syrian concubine bore to him, even Machir. And Machir begot Gilead. And the sons of Ephraim, the brother of Manasseh were Sutalaam, and Taam. And the son of Sutalaam was Edom. ²¹ And the sons of Benjamin were Belah, Becher, and Ashbel. And the sons of Belah were Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, and Muppim. And Gera begot Ard. ²² These are the sons of Rachel, which she bore to Jacob; eighteen persons in all. ²³ The son of Dan was Hushim. ²⁴ And the sons of Naphtali were Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. ²⁵ These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Rachel, who bore these to Jacob; seven persons in all. ²⁶ And all the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, who came out of his loins, besides the wives of the sons of Jacob, were sixty-six persons in all. ²⁷ And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in the land of Egypt were nine persons. All the persons of the house of Jacob who came with Joseph into Egypt were seventy-five persons. ²⁸ And he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to meet him to the City of Heroes, into the land of Rameses. ²⁹ And Joseph, having made ready his chariots, went up to meet Israel his father, at the City of Heroes; and having appeared to him, he fell on his neck, and wept with abundant weeping. ³⁰ And Israel said to Joseph, After this I will gladly die, since I have seen your face, for you are yet living. ³¹ And Joseph said to his brothers, I will go up and tell Pharaoh, and will say to him, My brothers, and my father's house, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me. ³² And the men are shepherds; for they have been feeders of cattle, and they have brought with them their cattle, and their cows, and all their property. ³³ If then Pharaoh calls you, and says to you, What is your occupation? ³⁴ You shall say, We your servants are herdsmen from our youth until now, both we and our fathers: that you may dwell in the land of Goshen of Arabia, for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.

²¹ And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, and whenever you shall escape, you shall not depart empty. ²² But every woman shall ask of her neighbor and fellow lodger, articles of gold and silver, and apparel; and you shall put them upon your sons and upon your daughters. So you shall plunder the Egyptians.

⁵ And I heard the groaning of the children of Israel (the affliction with which the Egyptians enslave them) and I remembered the covenant with you. ⁶ Go, speak to the children of Israel, saying, I am the Lord; and I will lead you forth from the tyranny of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from bondage, and I will ransom you with a high arm, and great judgment.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Behold, I have made you a god to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet. ² And you shall say to him all things that I command you, and Aaron your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, that he should send forth the children of Israel out of his land. ³ And I will harden the heart of Pharaoh, and I will multiply My signs and wonders in the land of Egypt. ⁴ And Pharaoh will not listen to you, and I will lay My hand upon Egypt; and I will bring out My people, the children of Israel, with My power out of the land of Egypt with great vengeance. ⁵ And all the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, stretching out My hand upon Egypt, and I will bring out the children of Israel from the midst of them. ⁶ And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded them, so did they. ⁷ And Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron his brother was eighty-three years old, when he spoke to Pharaoh. ⁸ And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, ⁹ Now if Pharaoh should speak to you, saying, Give us a sign or a wonder, then shall you say to your brother Aaron, Take your rod and cast it upon the ground before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it shall become a serpent. ¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron went in before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and they did so, as the Lord commanded them. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. ¹¹ But Pharaoh called together the wise men of Egypt, and the sorcerers, and the charmers, also of the Egyptians, and they did likewise with their sorceries. ¹² And they cast down each his rod, and they became serpents, but the rod of Aaron swallowed up their rods. ¹³ And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he hearkened not to them, as the Lord charged them. ¹⁴ And the Lord said to Moses, The heart of Pharaoh is made hard, so that he should not let the people go.

³² And take with you your sheep, and your oxen: bless me also, I pray you. ³³ And the Egyptians constrained the people, so that they cast them out of the land with haste, for they said, We all shall die. ³⁴ And the people took their dough before their meal was leavened, bound up as it was in their garments, on their shoulders. ³⁵ And the children of Israel did as Moses commanded them, and they asked of the Egyptians articles of silver and gold and apparel. ³⁶ And the Lord gave His people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, and they lent to them; and they plundered the Egyptians. ³⁷ And the children Israel departed from Rameses to Succoth, to the full number of six hundred thousand footmen, even men, besides the baggage. ³⁸ And a great mixed company went up with them, and sheep and oxen and very much cattle.

²⁰ But God took you, and led you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be to Him a people of inheritance, as it is this day.

²² And the Lord did great signs and wonders in Egypt, on Pharaoh and on his house before us.

¹⁸ You shall not fear them; you shall surely remember all that the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all the Egyptians; ¹⁹ the great trials which your eyes have seen, those signs and great wonders, the strong hand and the outstretched arm; how the Lord your God brought you forth: so the Lord your God will do to all the nations, whom you fear in their presence.

² And you shall know this day; for I speak not to your children, who know not and have not seen the discipline of the Lord your God, and His wonderful works, and His strong hand, and His outstretched arm, ³ and His miracles, and His wonders, which He did in the midst of Egypt on Pharaoh king of Egypt, and all his land; ⁴ and what He did to the army of the Egyptians, and to their chariots, and their cavalry, and their army; how He made the water of the Red Sea to overwhelm the face of them as they pursued after you, and the Lord destroyed them until this day;

⁴ and I gave to him Isaac, and to Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave to Esau Mount Seir for him to inherit. And Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt, and became there a great and populous and mighty nation, and the Egyptians afflicted them. ⁵ And I smote Egypt with the wonders that I wrought among them. ⁶ And afterwards God brought out our fathers from Egypt, and you entered into the Red Sea; and the Egyptians pursued after our fathers with chariots and horses into the Red Sea. ⁷ And we cried aloud to the Lord, and He put a cloud and darkness between us an the Egyptians, and He brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen all that the Lord did in the land of Egypt; and you were in the wilderness many days.

¹⁷ The Lord our God, He is God; He brought up us and our fathers from Egypt, and kept us in all the way in which we walked, and among all the nations through whom we passed.

⁸ When Jacob and his sons went into Egypt, and Egypt humbled them, then our fathers cried to the Lord, and the Lord sent Moses and Aaron. And they brought our fathers out of Egypt, and He made them to dwell in this place.

⁹ And You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and You heard their cry at the Red Sea. ¹⁰ And You showed signs and wonders in Egypt, on Pharaoh and all his servants, and on all the people of his land; for You knew that they behaved insolently against them; and You made Yourself a name, as it is this day. ¹¹ And You divided the sea before them, and they passed through the midst of the sea on dry land; and You cast them that were about to pursue them into the deep, as a stone into the mighty waters.

⁴ Against You alone have I sinned, and done evil before You; that You might be justified in Your words, and might overcome when You are judged.

⁴³ How He had worked His signs in Egypt, and His wonders in the field of Zoan; ⁴⁴ and had changed their rivers into blood, and their streams, that they should not drink. ⁴⁵ He sent against them the dog-fly, and it devoured them; and the frog, and it spoiled them. ⁴⁶ And He gave their fruit to the canker worm, and their labors to the locust. ⁴⁷ He killed their vines with hail, and their sycamores with frost. ⁴⁸ And He gave up their cattle to hail, and their substance to the fire. ⁴⁹ He sent out against them the fury of His anger, wrath, and indignation, and affliction, a message by evil angels. ⁵⁰ He made a way for His wrath; He spared not their souls from death, but consigned their cattle to death; ⁵¹ and He struck down every firstborn in the land of Egypt; the firstfruits of their labors in the tents of Ham.

²⁷ He established among them His signs, and His wonders in the land of Ham. ²⁸ He sent forth darkness, and made it dark; yet they rebelled against His words. ²⁹ He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish. ³⁰ Their land produced frogs abundantly, in the chambers of their kings. ³¹ He spoke, and the dog-fly came, and lice in all their coasts. ³² He turned their rain into hail, and sent flaming fire in their land. ³³ And He smote their vines and their fig trees; and broke every tree of their coast. ³⁴ He spoke, and the locust came, and caterpillars innumerable, ³⁵ and devoured all the grass in their land, and devoured the fruit of the ground. ³⁶ He smote also every firstborn of their land, the firstfruits of all their labor. ³⁷ And He brought them out with silver and gold; and there was not a feeble one among their tribes.

⁹ He sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his servants.

¹⁴ For the Lord shall judge His people, and comfort Himself concerning His servants.

⁴ I am a sojourner and a stranger among you. Therefore give me possession of a burying-place among you, and I will bury my dead away from me.

¹⁹ After this Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the Double Cave of the field, which is opposite Mamre, this is Hebron in the land of Canaan.

⁷ And these were the years of the days of the life of Abraham, as many as he lived, one hundred and seventy-five years. ⁸ Then Abraham breathed his last, and died in a good old age, an old man and full of days, and was added to his people. ⁹ And Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him in the double cave, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is over against Mamre,

²⁹ And Isaac gave up the ghost and died, and was gathered to his people, old and full of days; and Esau and Jacob his sons buried him.

²⁹ And he said to them, I am added to my people; you shall bury me with my fathers in the cave, which is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

³¹ There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac, and Rebecca his wife; there they buried Leah;

¹³ So his sons carried him up into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the double cave which Abraham bought for possession of a burying place from Ephrom the Hittite, before Mamre.

²⁴ Let Aaron be added to his people; for you shall certainly not go into the land which I have given the children of Israel, because you provoked Me at the water of Strife.

¹³ And you shall see it, and you also shall be added to your people, as Aaron your brother was added,

¹⁰ And all that generation were laid to their fathers: and another generation rose up after them, who knew not the Lord, nor yet the work which He wrought in Israel.

¹ And David was old and full of days, and he made Solomon his son king over Israel in his place.

²⁸ And he died in a good old age, full of days, in wealth, and glory; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.

²⁸ Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, and your eyes shall not look upon all the evils which I am bringing upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of it. And they brought back word to the king.

²⁶ And you shall come to the grave like ripe grain reaped in its season, or as a sheaf of grain collected in its season.

¹⁷ And Job died, an old man and full of days: ^(42:17A) and it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up. ^(42:17B) This man is described in the Syriac book as living in the land of Uz, on the borders of Edom and Arabia: and his name before was Jobab; ^(42:17C) and having taken an Arabian wife, he begot a son whose name was Ennon. And he himself was the son of his father Zare, one of the sons of Esau, and of his mother Bosorrha, so that he was the fifth from Abraham. ^(42:17D) And these were the kings who reigned in Edom, which country he also ruled over: first, Balak, the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dennaba: but after Balak, Jobab, who is called Job, and after him Asom, who was governor out of the country of Teman: and after him Adad, the son of Barad, who destroyed Midian in the plain of Moab; and the name of his city was Gethaim. ^(42:17E) And his friends who came to him were Eliphaz, of the children of Esau, king of the Thaemanites, Bildad sovereign of the Sauchaeans, and Zophar king of the Minaeans.

³⁷ Maintain innocence, and behold uprightness; for there is a remnant to the peaceable man.

³ If a man beget a hundred children, and live many years, yea, however abundant the days of his years shall be, yet if his soul shall not be satisfied with good, and also he have no burial; I said, An untimely birth is better than he.

⁷ before the dust also return to the earth as it was, and the spirit return to God who gave it.

¹ See how the just man has perished, and no one lays it to heart; and righteous men are taken away, and no one considers; for the righteous has been removed out of the way of injustice. ² His burial shall be in peace; he has been removed out of the way.

¹ At that time, says the Lord, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves; ² and they shall spread them out to the sun, and the moon, and to all the stars, and to all the host of heaven, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and to which they have held, and which they have worshipped. They shall not be mourned for, neither shall they be buried; but they shall be for an example on the face of the earth,

¹³ But you, go your way, and rest; for there are yet days and seasons to the fulfillment of the end; and you shall stand in your inheritance at the end of the days.

³² 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

³⁶ "For David indeed in his own generation, having served by the purpose of God, died, and was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption;

¹³ For when God made a promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, ¹⁴ saying, "Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you." ¹⁵ And so, after he had been patient, he obtained the promise. ¹⁶ For men indeed swear by the greater, and the oath for confirmation is an end of every dispute to them. ¹⁷ Thus God, wanting to show even more clearly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His counsel, guaranteed it by an oath, ¹⁸ in order that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong encouragement, who have fled to take hold of the hope being set before us; ¹⁹ which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and secure, and which enters into the inner side of the veil,

¹³ These all died according to faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off and welcoming them, and confessing that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. ¹⁴ For those saying such things make evident that they seek a fatherland. ¹⁵ And indeed if they had remembered that land from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to turn back. ¹⁶ But now they desire a better land, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

⁴⁰ And the sojourning of the children of Israel, while they sojourned in the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan, was four hundred and thirty years.

²⁶ And he did very abominably in following after the abominations, according to all that the Amorite did, whom the Lord utterly destroyed from before the children of Israel.

²³ And at the latter time of their kingdom, when their sins are coming to the full, there shall arise a king of fierce countenance, who understands riddles;

⁵ And the angel that talked with me went forth, and said to me, Lift up your eyes, and see this that goes forth. ⁶ And I said, What is it? And he said, This is the measure that goes forth. And he said, This is their iniquity in all the earth. ⁷ And behold a talent of lead lifted up; and behold a woman sat in the midst of the measure. ⁸ And he said, This is iniquity. And he cast it into the midst of the measure, and cast the weight of lead on the mouth of it. ⁹ And I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, two women coming forth, and the wind was in their wings; and they had stork's wings; and they lifted up the measure between the earth and the sky. ¹⁰ And I said to the angel that spoke with me, Where do these carry away the measure? ¹¹ And he said to me, To build a house for it in the land of Babylon, and to prepare a place for it; and they shall set it there on its own base.

³² And you, fill up then, the measure of your fathers' guilt. ³³ Serpents! Brood of vipers! How shall you escape from the condemnation of hell? ³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and you will crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and you will persecute from city to city, ³⁵ so that on you may come all the righteous blood being shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

¹⁶ forbidding us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved, so as always to fill up the measure of their sins; but the wrath of God has come upon them to the uttermost.

⁸ But in this let it not escape your notice, beloved, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ⁹ The Lord does not delay concerning His promise, as some reckon slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

² And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in flaming fire out of the bush, and he saw that the bush burned with fire, but the bush was not consumed. ³ And Moses said, I will go near and see this great sight, why the bush is not consumed.

²¹ And the Angel of the Lord stretched out the end of the rod that was in His hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened bread; and fire came up out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened bread, and the Angel of the Lord vanished from his sight.

²⁰ And it came to pass when the flame went up above the altar toward heaven, that the Angel of the Lord went up in the flame; and Manoah and his wife were looking, and they fell upon their face to the earth.

⁹ There went up a smoke in His wrath, and fire out of His mouth devours; coals were kindled at it.

²⁶ And David built there an altar to the Lord, and offered up whole burnt offerings and peace offerings. And he cried to the Lord, and He answered him by fire out of heaven on the altar of whole burnt offerings, and the fire consumed the whole burnt offering.

¹ For Zion's sake I will not hold My peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her righteousness go forth as light, and My salvation burn as a torch.

⁴ which I commanded your fathers, in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, Obey My voice, and do all things that I shall command you; so shall you be My people, and I will be your God,

¹⁴ And the third river is Tigris, this is that which flows forth over against the Assyrians. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

⁸ And God spoke to Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, ⁹ Behold, I establish My covenant with you, and with your seed after you, ¹⁰ and with every living creature with you, of birds and of beasts, and with all the wild beasts of the earth, as many as are with you, of all that came out of the ark. ¹¹ And I will establish My covenant with you: never again shall all flesh die by the water of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood of water to destroy all the earth. ¹² And the Lord God said to Noah, This is the sign of the covenant which I set between Me and you, and between every living creature which is with you for perpetual generations. ¹³ I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of covenant between Me and the earth. ¹⁴ And it shall be when I gather clouds upon the earth, that My rainbow shall be seen in the cloud. ¹⁵ And I shall remember My covenant, which is between Me and you, and between every living soul in all flesh, and there shall no longer be water for a deluge, so as to blot out all flesh. ¹⁶ And My rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look to remember the everlasting covenant between Me and the earth, and between every living soul in all flesh, which is upon the earth. ¹⁷ And God said to Noah, This is the sign of the covenant, which I have made between Me and all flesh, which is upon the earth.

¹⁵ for all the land which you see, I will give to you and to your seed forever.

¹ When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, I am your God, be well-pleasing before Me, and be blameless. ² And I will establish My covenant between Me and you, and I will multiply you exceedingly. ³ And Abram fell upon his face, and God spoke to him, saying, ⁴ And I, behold! My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of a many nations. ⁵ And your name shall no longer be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. ⁶ And I will increase you very exceedingly, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come out of you. ⁷ And I will establish My covenant between you and your seed after you, to their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be your God, and the God of your seed after you. ⁸ And I will give to you and to your seed after you the land in which you sojourn, even all the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession, and I will be to them a God. ⁹ And God said to Abraham, You also shall fully keep My covenant, you and your seed after you for their generations. ¹⁰ And this is the covenant which you shall fully keep between Me and you, and between your seed after you for their generations; every male of you shall be circumcised. ¹¹ And you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and you. ¹² And the child of eight days old shall be circumcised by you, every male throughout your generations, and the servant born in the house and he that is bought with money, of every son of a stranger, who is not of your seed. ¹³ He that is born in your house, and he that is bought with money shall surely be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. ¹⁴ And the uncircumcised male, who shall not be circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin on the eighth day, that soul shall be utterly destroyed from his family, for he has broken My covenant. ¹⁵ And God said to Abraham, Sarai, your wife — her name shall not be called Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. ¹⁶ And I will bless her, and give you a son by her, and I will bless him, and he shall become nations, and kings of nations shall be of him. ¹⁷ And Abraham fell upon his face and laughed; and said in his heart, Shall there be a child to one who is a hundred years old, and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child? ¹⁸ And Abraham said to God, Let this Ismael live before You. ¹⁹ And God said to Abraham, Yea, behold, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to him and to his seed after him. ²⁰ And concerning Ishmael, behold, I have heard you, and behold, I have blessed him, and will increase him and multiply him exceedingly; twelve nations shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. ²¹ But I will establish My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this time, in the next year. ²² And He left off speaking with him, and God went up from Abraham. ²³ And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all his home-born servants, and all those bought with money, and every male of the men in the house of Abraham, and he circumcised their foreskins in the time of that day, according as God spoke to him. ²⁴ And Abraham was ninety-nine years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. ²⁵ And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. ²⁶ And at the period of that day, Abraham was circumcised, and Ishmael his son, ²⁷ and all the men of his house, both those born in the house, and those bought with money of foreign nations.

⁷ The Lord, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, who took me out of my father's house, and out of the land from which I sprang, who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, I will give this land to you and to your seed, He shall send His angel before you, and you shall take a wife to my son from there.

⁴ And may He give you the blessing of my father Abraham, even to you and to your seed after you, to inherit the land of your sojourning, which God gave to Abraham.

¹³ And the Lord stood upon it, and said, I am the God of your father Abraham, and the God of Isaac; fear not, the land on which you lie I will give to you and to your seed. ¹⁴ And your seed shall be as the sand of the earth; and it shall spread abroad to the sea, and the south, and the north, and to the east; and in you and in your seed shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed.

¹² And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I have given to you; and it shall come to pass that I will give this land also to your seed after you.

²⁴ And Joseph spoke to his brothers, saying, I die, and God will surely visit you, and will bring you out of this land to the land concerning which God swore to our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

⁸ And I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them out of that land, and to bring them into a good and wide land, into a land flowing with milk and honey, into the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and Girgashites and Hivites and Jebusites.

⁴ And I established My covenant with them, to give them the land of the Canaanites, the land in which they sojourned, in which also they dwelt as strangers.

²³ For My angel shall go as your leader, and shall bring you to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Gergesites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, and I will destroy them.

²⁷ And I will send terror before you, and I will strike with amazement all the nations to which you shall come, and I will make all your enemies to flee. ²⁸ And I will send hornets before you, and you shall cast out the Amorites and the Hivites and the Canaanites and the Hittites from you. ²⁹ I will not cast them out in one year, lest the land become desolate, and the beasts of the field multiply against you. ³⁰ By little and little I will cast them out from before you, until you shall be increased and inherit the earth. ³¹ And I will set your borders from the Red Sea to the sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the great river Euphrates; and I will give into your hand those that dwell in the land, and will cast them out from you.

¹¹ Take heed to all things whatsoever that I command you. Behold, I cast out before your face the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Perizzite and the Hittite and the Hivite and the Girgashite and the Jebusite.

² Command the children of Israel, and you shall say to them, You are entering into the land of Canaan: it shall be to you for an inheritance, the land of Canaan with its boundaries. ³ And your southern side shall be from the Wilderness of Zin to the border of Edom, and your border southward shall extend on the side of the salt sea eastward.

⁵ And the border shall compass from Azmon to the river of Egypt, and the sea shall be the boundary.

⁷ Turn and depart, and enter into the mountain of the Amorites, and go to all that dwell near about Arabah, to the mountain and the plain and to the south, and the land of the Canaanites near the sea, and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates. ⁸ Behold, God has delivered the land before you; go in and inherit the land, which I swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; to give it to them and to their seed after them.

¹ And when the Lord your God shall bring you into the land into which you go, to possess it, and shall remove great nations from before you, the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations more numerous and stronger than you,

²⁴ Every place on which the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours; from the wilderness and Lebanon, and from the great river, the River Euphrates, even as far as the west sea shall be your coasts.

⁴ And the Lord said to Moses, This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, To your seed will I give it: and I have showed it to your eyes, but you shall not go in to it.

³ Every spot on which you shall tread I will give it to you, as I said to Moses. ⁴ The wilderness and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, and as far as the extremity of the sea; your coasts shall be from the setting of the sun.

¹ And these are the kings of the land, whom the children of Israel killed, and inherited their land beyond the Jordan from the east, from the valley of Arnon, to Mount Hermon, and all the land of the Arabah on the east. ² Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, ruling from Arnon, which is in the valley, on the side of the valley, and half of Gilead as far as Jabbok, the borders of the children of Ammon. ³ And the Arabah as far as the Sea of Chinneroth eastward, and as far as the Sea of the Arabah; the Salt Sea eastward by the way to Beth Jeshimoth, from Taman below the slopes of Pisgah. ⁴ And Og king of Bashan, who dwelt in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, was left of the giants ⁵ ruling from Mount Hermon and from Salcah, and over all the land of Bashan to the borders of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and the half of Gilead of the borders of Sihon king of Heshbon. ⁶ Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel struck them; and Moses gave them by way of inheritance to Reuben and Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh. ⁷ And these are the kings of the Amorites, whom Joshua and the children of Israel killed beyond the Jordan by the sea of Balagad in the plain of Lebanon, and as far as the mountain of Halak, as men go up to Seir. And Joshua gave it to the tribes of Israel to inherit according to their portion. ⁸ In the mountain, and in the plain, and in the Arabah, and in Ashedoth, and in the wilderness, and the Negev — the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite: ⁹ the king of Jericho, one; and the king of Ai, which is near Bethel, one; ¹⁰ the king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one; ¹¹ the king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one; ¹² the king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one; ¹³ the king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one; ¹⁴ the king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one; ¹⁵ the king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one; ¹⁶ the king of Elath, one; ¹⁷ the king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one; ¹⁸ the king of Aphek; the king of Lasharon; ¹⁹ the king of Madon, one; ²⁰ the king of Shimron Meron, one; the king of Achshaph, one;

⁴ And from there they go out to Azmon, and issue at the valley of Egypt; and the termination of its boundaries shall be at the sea. These are their boundaries southward.

¹ And the second lot came out for the children of Simeon; and their inheritance was in the midst of the lots of the children of Judah. ² And their lot was Beersheba, Sheba, Moladah, ³ Hazar Shual, Balah, Jason, ⁴ Erthula, Bula, and Hormah, ⁵ Ziklag, Beth Marcaboth, Hazar Susah, ⁶ Beth Lebaoth, and their fields, thirteen cities, and their villages. ⁷ Rimmon, Thalcha, Ether, Ashan; four cities and their villages, ⁸ round about their cities as far as Balec as men go to Bameth southward: this is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families. ⁹ The inheritance of the tribe of the children of Simeon was a part of the lot of Judah, for the portion of the children of Judah was greater than theirs; and the children of Simeon inherited in the midst of their lot. ¹⁰ And the third lot came out to Zebulun according to their families; the bounds of their inheritance shall be — Esedekgola shall be their border, ¹¹ the sea and Maralah, and it shall reach to Beth Arabah in the valley, which is opposite Jokneam. ¹² And the border returned from Sarid in an opposite direction eastward, to the borders of Chisloth Tabor, and shall pass on to Daberath, and shall proceed upward to Japhia. ¹³ And from there it shall come round in the opposite direction eastward to Gath Hepher to Eth Kazin, and shall go on to Rimmon. ¹⁴ And the borders shall come round northward to Hannathon, and their going out shall be at Jiphthah El. ¹⁵ Included were Kattath, Nahallal, Shimron, Jericho, and Bethlehem. ¹⁶ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun according to their families, these cities and their villages. ¹⁷ And the fourth lot came out to Issachar. ¹⁸ And their borders were Jezreel, Chesulloth, Shunem, ¹⁹ Haphraim, Shion, Anaharath, ²⁰ Anachereth, Dabiron, Kishion, Abez, ²¹ Remeth, En Gannim, En Haddah, Emarek, and Beth Pazzez. ²² And the boundaries shall border upon Tabor, and upon Shahazimah westward, and Beth Shemesh; and the extremity of his bounds shall be the Jordan. ²³ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Issachar according to their families, the cities and their villages. ²⁴ And the fifth lot came out to Asher according to their families. ²⁵ And their borders were Helkath, Aleph, Baethok, Achshaph, ²⁶ Alammelech, Amad, Mishal, and the lot will border on Carmel westward, along the Brook Shihor Libnah. ²⁷ And it will return westward from Beth Dagon, and will join Zebulun and Ekgai, and Jiphthah El northwards, and the borders will come to Beth Emk and Neiel, and will go on to Cabul, ²⁸ Ebron, Rehob, Hammon, and Kanah, to Great Sidon. ²⁹ And the borders shall turn back to Ramah, and to the fountain of Masphassat, and the Tyrians; and the borders shall return to Jasiph, and their going forth shall be the sea, and Apoleb, and Achzib. ³⁰ Also Archob, Aphek, and Rehob. ³¹ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families, the cities and their villages. ³² And the sixth lot came out to Nephthali. ³³ And their borders were Moolam, Mola, Besemiin, Arme, Naboc, and Jephthamai, as far as Dodam; and their goings out were the Jordan. ³⁴ And the coasts will return westward by Athabor, and will go out from there to Jacanah, and will border on Zebulun southward, and Asher will join it westward, and the Jordan eastward. ³⁵ And the walled cities of the Tyrians are: Tyre, Omathadaketh, Kenereth, ³⁶ Adamah, Ramah, Hazor, ³⁷ Kadesh, Edrei, En Hazor, ³⁸ Iron, Migdal, El, Horem, and Thessamys.

³ Then David attacked Hadadezer the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as he went to extend his power to the River Euphrates.

⁵ For my house is not so with the Mighty One; for He has made an everlasting covenant with me, ready, guarded at every time; for all my salvation and all my desire is, that the wicked should not flourish.

⁹ And he dwelt eastward to the borders of the wilderness, from the River Euphrates; for they had much cattle in the land of Gilead.

²⁶ And he ruled over all the kings from the river, even to the land of the Philistines, and to the borders of Egypt.

⁸ And You found his heart faithful before You, and made a covenant with him to give to him and to his seed the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, and the Girgashites; and You have confirmed Your words, for You are righteous.

¹² And it shall come to pass in that day that God shall fence men off from the channel of the river as far as the Brook of Egypt; but gather one by one the children of Israel.

³ Give heed with your ears, and follow My ways; hearken to Me, and your soul shall live in prosperity; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, the sure mercies of David.

³¹ Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah. ³² Not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day when I took hold of their hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; for they abode not in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. ³³ For this is My covenant which I will make with the house of Israel: after those days, says the Lord, I will surely put My laws into their mind, and write them on their hearts. And I will be to them a God, and they shall be to Me a people. ³⁴ And no more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord. For all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful to their iniquities, and their sins I will remember no more.

⁴⁰ And I will make with them an everlasting covenant, which I will by no means turn away from them, and I will put My fear into their heart, that they may not depart from Me.

¹⁵ Brothers, I speak in human fashion: A covenant is of a man, yet having been confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it. ¹⁶ Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises spoken. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," who is Christ. ¹⁷ And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, does not annul the covenant previously confirmed to Christ by God, so that it make the promise of no effect.

²⁰ Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the everlasting covenant,

²¹ And having seen the Kenite, he took up his parable and said, Your dwelling place is strong; yet though you should put your nest in a rock, ²² and though Beor should have a skillfully contrived hiding place, the Assyrians shall carry you away captive.

⁵ And in the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer came, and the kings with him, and they cut to pieces the giants in Astaroth, and Karnaim, and strong nations with them, and the Emim in the city Shaveh Kiriathaim.

⁵ And it shall be as if one should gather standing grain, and reap the grain off the ears; and it shall be as if one should gather heads of grain in a rich valley;

¹⁵ And Canaan begot Sidon his firstborn, and the Hittite, ¹⁶ and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite, ¹⁷ and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Senite, ¹⁸ and the Aradian, and the Samarean, and the Amathite; and after this the tribes of the Canaanites were dispersed. ¹⁹ And the boundaries of the Canaanites were from Sidon till one comes to Gerar and Gaza, till one comes to Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.

²³ For My angel shall go as your leader, and shall bring you to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Gergesites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, and I will destroy them. ²⁴ You shall not worship their gods, nor serve them. You shall not do according to their works, but shall utterly destroy them, and break to pieces their pillars. ²⁵ And you shall serve the Lord your God, and I will bless your bread and your wine and your water, and I will turn away sickness from you. ²⁶ There shall not be one that is impotent or barren on your land. I will surely fulfill the number of your days. ²⁷ And I will send terror before you, and I will strike with amazement all the nations to which you shall come, and I will make all your enemies to flee. ²⁸ And I will send hornets before you, and you shall cast out the Amorites and the Hivites and the Canaanites and the Hittites from you.

² And I will send at the same time My angel before your face, and he shall cast out the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Girgashite and the Hivite and the Jebusite and the Canaanite.

²⁸ And when He came to the other side, to the region of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, very violent, so that no one was able to pass by that way.
