⁷ On a lofty and high mountain, there is your bed, and from there you carried up your meat offerings;

²⁰ For of old you have broken your yoke, and plucked asunder your bands; and you have said, I will not serve You, but will go upon every high hill, and under every shady tree, there will I indulge in my fornication.

² Lift up your eyes and look straight ahead, and see where you have not been utterly defiled. You have sat for them by the wayside as a deserted crow, and have defiled the land with your fornications and your wickedness.

⁶ And the Lord said to me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen what things the house of Israel has done to Me? They have gone on every high mountain, and under every shady tree, and have committed fornication there.

¹⁶ And you took of your garments, and made for yourself idols of needlework, and went a-whoring after them; therefore you shall never come in, nor shall the like take place.

²⁵ and on the head of every road you set up your fornications, and defiled your beauty, and opened your feet to every passer by, and multiplied your fornication.

²⁸ Whereas I brought them into the land concerning which I lifted up My hand to give it to them; and they looked upon every high hill, and every shady tree, and they sacrificed there to their gods, and offered there sweet-smelling savors, and there they poured out their drink offerings. ²⁹ And I said to them, What is Bamah, that you go in there? And they called its name Bamah, until this day.

¹⁷ And the sons of Babylon came to her, into the bed of rest, and they defiled her in her fornication, and she was defiled by them, and her soul was alienated from them.

⁴¹ and sat on a prepared bed, and before it there was a table set out, and as for My incense and My oil, they rejoiced in them,
