⁷ For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah His beloved plant; I expected it to bring forth judgment, and it brought forth iniquity; and not righteousness, but a cry.

¹⁰ And the Lord said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground.

²³ And in those days after a length of time, the king of Egypt died. And the children of Israel groaned because of their tasks, and cried, and their cry because of their tasks went up to God. ²⁴ And God heard their groanings, and God remembered His covenant that He made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

⁷ And the Lord said to Moses, I have surely seen the affliction of My people that is in Egypt, and I have heard their cry caused by their taskmasters; for I know their affliction.

²¹ And you shall not hurt a stranger, nor afflict him; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. ²² You shall hurt no widow or orphan. ²³ And if you should afflict them by ill treatment, and they should cry aloud to Me, I will surely hear their voice. ²⁴ And I will be very angry, and will slay you with the sword, and your wives shall be widows and your children orphans. ²⁵ And if you should lend money to your poor brother who is among you, you shall not be hard upon him — you shall not charge interest from him. ²⁶ And if you take your neighbor's garment for a pledge, you shall restore it to him before sunset. ²⁷ For this is his clothing, this is the only covering of his nakedness; how shall he sleep? If then he shall cry to Me, I will hearken to him, for I am merciful.

⁹ Take heed to yourself that there be not a secret thing in your heart — an iniquity, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is approaching. And your eye shall be evil to your brother that is in need, and you shall not give to him, and he shall cry against you to the Lord, and there shall be great sin in you.

¹ And the cry of the people and their wives was great against their brothers the Jews. ² And some said, We are numerous with our sons and our daughters; so we will take grain, and eat, and live. ³ And some said, As to our fields and vineyards and houses, let us pledge them, and we will take grain, and eat. ⁴ And some said, We have borrowed money for the king's tributes — our fields, and our vineyards, and houses are pledged. ⁵ And now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children are as their children. Yet behold, we are reducing our sons and our daughters to slavery, and some of our daughters are enslaved; and there is no power of our hands, for our fields and our vineyards belong to the nobles.

³⁸ If at any time the land groaned against me, and if its furrows mourned together; ³⁹ and if I ate its strength alone without price, and if I too grieved the heart of the owner of the soil, by taking from him,

²⁸ so as to bring before Him the cry of the needy; for He will hear the cry of the poor.

⁸ You have transplanted a vine out of Egypt; You have cast out the heathen, and planted it. ⁹ You made a way before it, and caused its roots to strike, and the land was filled with it. ¹⁰ Its shadow covered the mountains, and its shoots equaled the choice cedars. ¹¹ It sent forth its branches to the sea, and its shoots to the river.

¹⁵ and restore that which Your right hand has planted, and look on the son of man whom You have strengthened for Yourself.

¹¹ The Lord takes pleasure in them that fear Him, and in all that hope in His mercy.

⁴ For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; and will exalt the meek with salvation.

¹³ He that stops his ears from hearing the poor, himself also shall cry, and there shall be none to hear him.

⁶ How beautiful are you, and how sweet are you, my love!

⁶ From the feet to the head, there is no soundness in them; neither wound, nor bruise, nor festering ulcer are healed; it is not possible to apply a plaister, nor oil, nor bandages.

¹⁴ The Lord Himself shall enter into judgment with the elders of the people, and with their rulers; but why have you set My vineyard on fire, and why is the spoil of the poor in your houses?

¹⁷ therefore the Lord will humble the chief daughters of Zion, and the Lord will expose their form in that day;

² And I made a hedge round it, and dug a trench, and planted a choice vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and dug a place for the wine vat in it; and I waited for it to bring forth grapes, and it brought forth thorns.

⁶ I have not chosen such a fast, says the Lord; but do you loose every burden of iniquity, do you untie the knots of hard bargains, set the bruised free, and cancel every unjust account? ⁷ Break your bread to the hungry, and lead the unsheltered poor to your house; if you see one naked, clothe him, and you shall not disregard the relations of your own seed. ⁸ Then shall your light break forth as the morning, and your health shall speedily spring forth; and your righteousness shall go before you, and the glory of God shall surround you.

⁵ And as a young man lives with a virgin, so shall your sons dwell in you; and it shall come to pass that as a bridegroom will rejoice over a bride, so will the Lord rejoice over you.

¹⁰ Many shepherds have destroyed My vineyard, they have defiled My portion, they have made My desirable portion a trackless wilderness.

⁸ Has it not been told you, O man, what is good? Or what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, and love mercy, and be ready to walk with the Lord your God?

¹⁷ The Lord your God is in you; the Mighty One shall save you: He shall bring joy upon you, and shall refresh you with His love; and He shall rejoice over you with delight as in a day of feasting.

⁹ Thus says the Lord Almighty; Judge righteous judgment, and deal mercifully and compassionately, everyone with his brother, ¹⁰ and oppress not the widow, or the fatherless, or the stranger, or the poor; and let not one of you remember in his heart the injury of his brother. ¹¹ But they refused to attend, and madly turned their back, and made their ears heavy, so that they should not hear. ¹² And they made their heart disobedient, so as not to hearken to My law, and the words which the Lord Almighty sent forth by His Spirit by the former prophets: so there was great wrath from the Lord Almighty. ¹³ Therefore it came to pass, that as He spoke and they did not listen, so they shall cry, and I will not listen, says the Lord Almighty. ¹⁴ And I will cast them out among all the nations, whom they know not; and the land behind them shall be made utterly destitute of any going through or returning; for they have made the choice land a desolation.

⁸ Therefore produce fruits worthy of repentance, ⁹ and do not think to say among yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham out of these stones. ¹⁰ But even now, the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the more important things of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These things you should have done, and not have neglected the others.

⁷ And God, shall He not execute justice for His own elect, who cry out day and night to Him, and yet He is patient with them?

² Every branch in Me which does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch which bears fruit He prunes, so that it may bear more fruit.

⁸ But you wrong and defraud, and these things to your brothers! ⁹ Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, ¹⁰ nor covetous, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor abusive people, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you! But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

⁴ Indeed, the wages of the laborers who reaped your fields, which were kept back by you, cry out, and the cries of the reapers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts.

⁷ Little children, let no one deceive you. The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. ⁸ He who practices sin is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this reason the Son of God appeared, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
