⁵ And I will give all the strength of this city, and all the labors of it, and all the treasures of the king of Judah, into the hands of his enemies, and they shall bring them to Babylon.

¹⁷ Behold, the days are coming that all things that are in your house shall be taken, and all that your fathers have treasured up to this day shall be carried to Babylon; and there shall not fail a word which the Lord has spoken. ¹⁸ And as for your sons which shall come forth of you, which you shall beget, the enemy shall take them, and they shall be eunuchs in the house of the king of Babylon.

¹² And Jehoiachin king of Judah came forth to the king of Babylon, he and his servants, and his mother, and his princes, and his eunuchs; and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign. ¹³ And he brought forth from there all the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house, and he cut up all the golden vessels which Solomon the king of Israel had made in the temple of the Lord, according to the word of the Lord. ¹⁴ And he carried away the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and all the captains, and the mighty men, taking captive ten thousand prisoners, and every craftsmen and smith; and only the poor of the land were left. ¹⁵ And he carried Jehoiachin away to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his eunuchs; and he carried away the mighty men of the land into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. ¹⁶ And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and one thousand craftsmen and smiths; all were mighty men fit for war; and the king of Babylon carried them captive to Babylon.

¹³ And the Chaldeans broke to pieces the bronze pillars that were in the house of the Lord, and the bases, and the bronze sea that was in the house of the Lord, and carried its brass to Babylon. ¹⁴ And the caldrons, and the shovels, and the bowls, and the censers, and all the bronze vessels with which they ministered with, he took. ¹⁵ And the captain of the guard took the fire pans, and the gold and silver bowls. ¹⁶ Two pillars, and one sea, and the bases which Solomon made for the house of the Lord; there was no weight of the brass of all the vessels. ¹⁷ The height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, and the chapiter upon it was of brass. And the height of the chapiter was three cubits: the border, and the pomegranates on the chapiter round about were all of brass; and so it was with the second pillar with its border.

¹⁰ And at the turn of the year, King Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the precious vessels of the house of the Lord, and made Zedekiah his father's brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

¹⁷ And He brought the king of the Chaldeans against them, and killed their young men with the sword in the house of His sanctuary, and did not spare Zedekiah, and had no mercy upon their virgins, and they led away their old men; He delivered all things into their hands. ¹⁸ And all the vessels of the house of God, the great and the small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord, and all the treasures of the king and the great men; he brought all to Babylon. ¹⁹ And he burned the house of the Lord, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burned its palaces with fire, and utterly destroyed every beautiful vessel.

²⁴ But shame has consumed the labors of our fathers from our youth; their sheep and their calves, and their sons and their daughters.

²⁰ For all the land is distressed. Suddenly my tabernacle is distressed, my curtains have been torn in two.

¹² The ravagers have come to every passage in the wilderness: for the sword of the Lord will devour from one end of the land to the other — 8no flesh has any peace.

¹³ Yes, I will give your treasures for a spoil as a recompense, because of all your sins, and that in all your borders.

⁸ And as the bad figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so bad; thus says the Lord: So will I deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his nobles, and the remnant of Jerusalem, them that are left in this land, and those that dwell in the land of Egypt. ⁹ And I will cause them to be dispersed into all the kingdoms of the earth, and they shall be for a reproach, and a proverb, and an object of hatred, and a curse, in every place where I have driven them out. ¹⁰ And I will send against them famine, and pestilence, and the sword, until they are consumed from off the land which I have given them.

¹⁹ And as for the remaining vessels, ²⁰ which the king of Babylon did not take, when he carried Jeconiah prisoner out of Jerusalem, ²¹ (TEXT OMITTED) ²² they shall go into Babylon, says the Lord.

³ For King Zedekiahhad shut him up, saying, Why do you prophesy, saying, Thus says the Lord, Behold, I will give this city into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it; ⁴ and Zedekiah shall by no means be delivered out of the hand of the Chaldeans, for he shall certainly be given up into the hands of the king of Babylon, and his mouth shall speak to his mouth, and his eyes shall look upon his eyes; ⁵ and Zedekiah shall go into Babylon, and dwell there?

² And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the city was penetrated.

⁷ And the city was broken up, and all the men of war went out by night by the way of the gate, between the wall and the outworks, which were by the king's garden. And the Chaldeans were by the city round about; and they went by the way leading to the wilderness. ⁸ But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook him beyond Jericho. And all his servants were dispersed. ⁹ And they took the king, and brought him to the king of Babylon to Riblah, and he judged him. ¹⁰ And the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes; and he killed all the princes of Judah in Riblah. ¹¹ And he put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in fetters. And the king of Babylon brought him to Babylon, and put him into the grinding-house, until the day when he died. ¹² And in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nabuzaradan the captain of the guard, who waited on the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem; ¹³ and he burned the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all the houses of the city, and every great house he burned with fire. ¹⁴ And the army of the Chaldeans that was with the captain of the guard pulled down all the wall of Jerusalem round about. ¹⁵ (TEXT OMITTED) ¹⁶ But the captain of the guard left the remnant of the people to be vinedressers and farmers. ¹⁷ And the Chaldeans broke in pieces the bronze pillars that were in the house of the Lord, and the bases, and the bronze sea that was in the house of the Lord, and they took the brass thereof, and carried it away to Babylon. ¹⁸ Also the rim, and the bowls, and the flesh-hooks, and all the bronze vessels, which they ministered with; ¹⁹ and the basins, and the snuffers, and the oil-funnels, and the lampstands, and the censers, and the cups, and whatever was solid gold, and the silver, and whatever was of solid silver, the captain of the guard took away. ²⁰ And the two pillars, and the one sea, and the twelve bronze oxen under the sea, which things King Solomon made for the house of the Lord; the brass of which was without weight. ²¹ And as for the pillars, the height of one pillar was thirty-five cubits; and a line of twelve cubits compassed it round; and the thickness of it all round was four fingers. ²² And there was a bronze chapiter upon them, and the length was five cubits, even the height of one chapiter; and there was on the chapiter round about network and pomegranates, all of brass. And correspondingly the second pillar had eight pomegranates to a cubit for the twelve cubits. ²³ And the pomegranates were ninety-six on a side; and all the pomegranates on the network round about were a hundred.

⁷ ( { ζ}) ZAIN. Jerusalem remembered the days of her affliction, and her rejection. She thought on all her desirable things which were from the days of old, when her people fell into the hands of the oppressor, and there was none to help her; when her enemies saw it, they laughed at her habitation.

¹⁰ ( { ι}) JOD. The oppressor has stretched out his hand on all her desirable things, for she has seen the Gentiles entering into her sanctuary, concerning whom You commanded that they should not enter into Your congregation.

¹² ( { μ}) LAMED. The kings of the earth, even all that dwell in the world, believed not that an enemy and oppressor would enter through the gates of Jerusalem.

²⁵ whose princes in the midst of her are as roaring lions seizing prey, devouring souls by oppression, and taking bribes; and your widows are multiplied in the midst of you.

² And the Lord gave into his hand Jehoiakim king of Judah, and part of the vessels of the house of God: and he brought them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
