²⁰ that you have wrought wickedness in your hearts, when you sent for me, saying, Pray for us to the Lord; and according to all that the Lord shall speak to you we will do.

³¹ They approach you as a people that come together, and sit before you, and hear your words, but they will not do them; for there is falsehood in their mouth, and their heart goes after their pollutions.

¹⁵ Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might trap Him in His speech. ¹⁶ And they sent their disciples to Him with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You show favoritism to anyone. ¹⁷ Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" ¹⁸ But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, "Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?

³⁵ Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying,

⁷ Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for what a man sows, this also he will reap.

²² But become doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
