²⁸ Deliver my soul, that it may not go to destruction, and my life shall see the light.

⁹ Let the stars of that night be darkened; let it remain dark, and not come into light; and let it not see the morning star arise:

¹⁶ or I should have been as an untimely birth proceeding from his mother's womb, or as infants who never saw light.

²⁰ For why is light given to those who are in bitterness, and life to those souls which are in grief?

¹⁶ Will they go down with me to Hades, or shall we go down together to the tomb?

²⁸ And He shall establish to you again a habitation of righteousness, and there shall be light upon your paths.

¹⁸ He spares also his soul from death, and does not allow him to fall in war.

²⁰ And he shall not be able to take any food, though his soul shall desire meat;

²² His soul also draws near to death, and his life is in Hades.

²⁴ He will support him, that he should not perish, and will restore his body as fresh plaster upon a wall; and He will fill his bones with marrow.

¹⁹ Yet he shall go in to the generation of his fathers; he shall never see light.

²³ But You, O God, shall bring them down to the pit of destruction; bloody and crafty men shall not live out half their days; but I will hope in You, O Lord.

¹⁵ Let not the floodwater drown me, nor let the deep swallow me up; neither let the well shut its mouth upon me.

² O people walking in darkness, behold a great light; you that dwell in the region and shadow of death, a light shall shine upon you.

¹⁷ For You have chosen my soul, that it should not perish; and You have cast all my sins behind me. ¹⁸ For they that are in the grave shall not praise You, neither shall the dead bless You, neither shall they that are in Hades hope for Your mercy.

⁹ Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

¹ Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. ² And he seized the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, he who deceives the whole world, and he bound him for a thousand years; ³ and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and locked and sealed it over him, so that he should deceive the nations no more until the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a short time.
