¹ And Elihu resumed and said, ² What is this that you think is right? Who are you that you have said, I am righteous before the Lord? ³ I will answer you, and your three friends. ⁴ Look up to the sky and see; and consider the clouds, how high they are above you. ⁵ If you have sinned, what will you do? ⁶ And if you have also transgressed much, what can you perform? ⁷ And suppose you are righteous, what will you give Him? Or what shall He receive from your hand? ⁸ Your ungodliness may affect a man such as you; or your righteousness a son of man. ⁹ They that are oppressed of a multitude will be ready to cry out; they will call for help because of the arm of many. ¹⁰ But none said, Where is God that made me, who appoints the night watches; ¹¹ who makes me to differ from the four-footed beasts of the earth, and from the birds of the sky? ¹² There they shall cry, and none shall hear, even because of the insolence of wicked men. ¹³ For the Lord desires not to look on error, for He is the Almighty One. ¹⁴ He beholds them that perform lawless deeds, and He will save me: and do you plead before Him, if you can praise Him, as it is possible even now? ¹⁵ For He is not now regarding His wrath, nor has He noticed severely any trespass. ¹⁶ Yet Job vainly opens his mouth, in ignorance he multiplies words.

¹⁷ Let Him not crush me with a dark storm: but He has made my bruises many without cause.

⁷ For You know that I have not committed iniquity, but who is he that can deliver out of Your hands?

^{17 (16:18)} Yet there was no injustice on my hands, and my prayer is pure.

⁶ Know then that it is the Lord that has troubled me, and has raised His bulwark against me. ⁷ Behold, I laugh at reproach; I will not speak: or I will cry out, but judgment is nowhere.

² As God lives, who has thus judged me; and the Almighty, who has embittered my soul; ³ verily, while my breath is yet in me, and the breath of God which remains to me is in my nostrils, ⁴ my lips shall not speak evil words, neither shall my soul meditate unrighteous thoughts. ⁵ Far be it from me that I should justify you till I die! For I will not let go my innocence, ⁶ but keeping fast to my righteousness, I will by no means let it go: for I am not conscious to myself of having done anything amiss.

⁵ For Job has said, I am righteous: the Lord has removed my judgment.

^{8 (40:3)} Do not set aside My judgment: and do you think that I have dealt with you in any other way, than that you might appear to be righteous?

³⁶ But I say to you, that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. ³⁷ For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."

²² And he said to him, 'Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was a harsh man, taking up what I did not deposit, and reaping what I did not sow.

²¹ For even if I have sinned, I know it not in my soul: but my life is taken away. ²² Wherefore I said, Wrath slays the great and mighty man.

³⁰ For if I should wash myself with snow, and purge myself with pure hands, ³¹ You had thoroughly plunged me in filth, and my garment has abhorred me.

¹⁵ Or if I should be ungodly, woe is me: and if I should be righteous, I cannot lift myself up, for I am full of dishonor.

¹⁵ What is the Mighty One, that we should serve Him? And what profit is there that we should approach Him?

² Now what portion has God given from above? And is there an inheritance given of the Mighty One from on high?

⁹ For you should not say, There shall be no visitation of a man, whereas there is a visitation on him from the Lord.

¹³ And I said, Verily in vain have I justified my heart, and washed my hands in innocence.

¹⁴ You said, He that serves God labors in vain: and what have we gained in that we have kept His ordinances, and in that we have walked as suppliants before the face of the Lord Almighty?

⁸ Saying, I have not sinned, nor committed ungodliness, nor had fellowship with workers of iniquity, to go with the ungodly.

²⁰ If you walk with wise men you shall be wise, but he that walks with fools shall be known.

⁵ And He brought him out and said to him, Look up now to heaven, and count the stars, if you shall be able to number them fully, and He said, Thus shall your seed be.

²⁷ But will God indeed dwell with men upon the earth? If the heaven and heaven of heavens will not suffice You, how much less even this house which I have built for Your name?

¹² Does not He that dwells in the high places observe? And has He not brought down the proud?

⁵ If He gives an order to the moon, then it shines not; and the stars are not pure before Him. ⁶ But alas! Man is corruption, and the son of man a worm.

²⁶ Behold, the Mighty One is great, and we shall not know Him: the number of His years is infinite.

¹⁶ And He knows the divisions of the clouds, and the signal overthrows of the ungodly.

²² From the north come the clouds shining like gold: in these are the glory and honor of the Almighty; ²³ and we do not find another His equal in strength: as for Him that judges justly, do you not think that He listens?

³ For I will regard the heavens, the work of Your fingers; the moon and stars, which You have established. ⁴ What is man, that You are mindful of him? Or the son of man, that You visit him?

²² It is He that comprehends the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants in it are as grasshoppers; He that set up the heaven as a chamber, and stretched it out as a tent to dwell in; ²³ He that appoints princes to rule as nothing, and has made the earth as nothing.

⁹ But as the heaven is distant from the earth, so is My way distant from your ways, and your thoughts from My mind.

³ The Lord is longsuffering, and His power is great, and the Lord will not hold any guiltless: His way is in destruction and in the whirlwind, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.

³⁶ But they that sin against me act wickedly against their own souls, and they that hate me love death.

¹² Son, if you are wise for yourself, you shall also be wise for your neighbors; and if you should prove wicked, you alone will bear the evil. ^(9:12A) He that stays himself upon falsehoods, attempts to rule the winds, and the same will pursue birds in their fight: ^(9:12B) for he has forsaken the ways of his own vineyard, and he has caused the axles of his own cart to go astray; ^(9:12C) and he goes through a dry desert, and a land appointed to drought, and he gathers barrenness with his hands.

¹⁹ Do they provoke Me to anger? Says the Lord. Do they not provoke themselves, that their faces may be ashamed?

¹⁴ But who am I, and what is my people, that we have been able to be thus forward in offering to You? For all things are Yours, and of Your own have we given You,

² Is it not the Lord that teaches understanding and knowledge? ³ For what does it matter to the Lord, if you were blameless in your works? Or is it profitable that you should perfect your way?

² I said to the Lord, You are my Lord; my goodness is nothing apart from You.

¹⁰ So likewise you, whenever you do all the things having been commanded to you, say, 'We are unprofitable servants. We have done what we ought to do.' "

³⁵ "Or who has first given to Him, and it shall be repaid to him?"

² And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and magnify your name, and you shall be blessed.

²⁴ Should there be fifty righteous in the city, will You destroy them? Will You not spare the whole place for the sake of the fifty righteous, if they be in it? ²⁵ Far be it from You to do such at thing, so as to destroy the righteous with the wicked, so the righteous shall be as the wicked: far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? ²⁶ And the Lord said, If there should be in Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole city, and the whole place for their sakes. ²⁷ And Abraham answered and said, Now I have begun to speak to my Lord, and I am but dust and ashes. ²⁸ But if the fifty righteous should be diminished to forty-five, will You destroy the whole city because of the five that are lacking? And He said, I will not destroy it, if I should find there forty-five. ²⁹ And he continued to speak to Him still, and said, But if there should be found there forty? And He said, I will not destroy it for the forty's sake. ³⁰ And he said, Will there be anything against me, Lord, if I shall speak? But if there be found there thirty? And He said, I will not destroy it for the thirty's sake. ³¹ And he said, Since I am able to speak to the Lord, what if there should be found there twenty? And He said, I will not destroy it, if I should find there twenty. ³² And he said, Will there be anything against me, Lord, if I speak yet once more? But if there should be found there ten? And He said, I will not destroy it for the ten's sake. ³³ And the Lord departed, when He left off speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

²⁹ And it came to pass, that when God destroyed all the cities of the region round about, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when the Lord overthrew those cities in which Lot dwelt.

¹ But the children of Israel committed a great trespass, and kept back part of the accursed thing; and Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zambri, the son of Zabdi, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing; and the Lord was very angry with the children of Israel. ² And Joshua sent men to Ai, which is by Beth Aven, saying, Spy out Ai. And the men went up and spied out Ai. ³ And they returned to Joshua, and said to him, Let not all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and take the city by siege; for they are few. ⁴ And there went up about three thousand men, and they fled from before the men of Ai. ⁵ And the men of Ai struck down about thirty-six men, and they pursued them from the gate, and destroyed them from the steep hill; and the heart of the people was alarmed and became as water.

²⁰ Lo! Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass, taking of the accursed thing, and there was wrath on the whole congregation of Israel? And he himself died alone in his own sin.

⁸ Now then take seven bullocks, and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and he shall offer a burnt offering for you. And My servant Job shall pray for you, for I will only accept him: for but his sake, I would have destroyed you, for you have not spoken the truth against My servant Job.

²³ So He said that He would have destroyed them, had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, to turn Him away from the fierceness of His anger, so that He should not destroy them.

³⁰ Then Phinehas stood up and made atonement, and the plague ceased.

¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of war; and one sinner will destroy much good.

³⁰ And I sought from among them a man behaving uprightly, and standing before Me perfectly in the time of wrath, so that I should not utterly destroy her: but I found him not.

¹² And Jonah said to them, Take me up, and cast me into the sea, and the sea shall be calm for you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.

²⁴ saying, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; for it is necessary for you to stand before Caesar; and behold, God has granted you all those sailing with you.'

⁷ By faith Noah, having being warned By God concerning the things not yet seen, being reverent, prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, through which he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

²³ And in those days after a length of time, the king of Egypt died. And the children of Israel groaned because of their tasks, and cried, and their cry because of their tasks went up to God.

⁷ And the Lord said to Moses, I have surely seen the affliction of My people that is in Egypt, and I have heard their cry caused by their taskmasters; for I know their affliction.

⁹ And now behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have seen the affliction with which the Egyptians afflict them.

¹ And the cry of the people and their wives was great against their brothers the Jews. ² And some said, We are numerous with our sons and our daughters; so we will take grain, and eat, and live. ³ And some said, As to our fields and vineyards and houses, let us pledge them, and we will take grain, and eat. ⁴ And some said, We have borrowed money for the king's tributes — our fields, and our vineyards, and houses are pledged. ⁵ And now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children are as their children. Yet behold, we are reducing our sons and our daughters to slavery, and some of our daughters are enslaved; and there is no power of our hands, for our fields and our vineyards belong to the nobles.

¹⁹ He sends away priests into captivity, and overthrows the mighty ones of the earth.

¹² Who have cast forth the poor from the city and their own houses, and the soul of the children has groaned aloud.

²⁸ so as to bring before Him the cry of the needy; for He will hear the cry of the poor.

^{9 (40:4)} Have you an arm like the Lord's? Or can you thunder with a voice like His?

¹⁵ Break the arm of the sinner and wicked man: his sin shall be sought for, and shall not be found.

⁵ Because of the misery of the poor, and because of the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, says the Lord, I will set them in safety; I will speak to them openly.

² for You are my strength; why have You cast me off? And why do I go mourning, while the enemy oppresses me?

² Attend to me, and hearken to me; I was grieved in my meditation, and troubled; ³ because of the voice of the enemy, and because of the oppression of the sinner; for they brought iniquity against me, and were wrathfully angry with me.

¹ For the end, concerning the people that were removed from the sanctuary, by David for a memorial, when the Philistines caught him in Gath. Have mercy upon me, O God; for man has trodden me down; all the day long his warring has afflicted me. ² My enemies have trodden me down all the day from the dawning of the day; for there are many warring against me.

³ Now there was a widow in that city; and she kept coming to him, saying, 'Give justice to me against my adversary.' ⁴ And he did not want to for a time; but afterward he said within himself, 'although I do not fear God, nor have regard for man, ⁵ yet because this widow bothers me I will give justice to her, lest she wear me out by forever coming to me.' " ⁶ Then the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge said. ⁷ And God, shall He not execute justice for His own elect, who cry out day and night to Him, and yet He is patient with them?

¹³ So Saul died for his transgressions, wherein he transgressed against God, against the word of the Lord, forasmuch as he kept it not, because Saul inquired of a wizard to seek counsel, and Samuel the prophet answered him; ¹⁴ and he sought not the Lord. Therefore He killed him, and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.

²² but only troubled him in his affliction. And he departed yet again from the Lord, and King Ahaz said, ²³ I will seek after the gods of Damascus that attack me. And he said, Forasmuch as the gods of the king of Syria themselves strengthen them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, and they will help me. But they became a stumbling block to him, and to all Israel.

¹⁰ has he any confidence before Him? Or will God hear him as he calls upon Him?

²² For I know not how to respect persons: and if otherwise, even the moths would eat me.

³ Having fetched my knowledge from afar, and according to my works,

¹³ And the hypocrites in heart will array wrath against themselves; they will not cry, because He has bound them.

⁸ By day the Lord will command His mercy, and manifest it by night; with me is prayer to the God of my life.

⁶ And I meditated; I communed with my heart by night, and diligently searched my spirit, saying,

⁶² At midnight I arose, to give thanks to You for the judgments of Your righteousness.

⁵ The saints shall rejoice in glory; and shall exalt on their beds.

¹ And remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of evil come, and the years overtake you in which you shall say, I have no pleasure in them.

²¹ And famine shall come sorely upon you, and it shall come to pass, that when you shall be hungry, you shall be grieved, and you shall speak evil of the prince and of your fathers' ordinances; and they shall look up to heaven above,

¹³ And you have forgotten God who made you, who made the sky and founded the earth; and you were continually afraid because of the wrath of him that afflicted you; for whereas he counseled to take you away, yet now where is the wrath of him that afflicted you?

⁵ For it is the Lord that made you; the Lord of hosts is His name; and He that delivered you, He is the God of Israel, and shall be called so by the whole earth.

²⁵ Now about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

¹⁹ Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.

²⁶ And God said, Let Us make man according to Our image and likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the flying creatures of heaven, and over the cattle and all the earth, and over all the reptiles that creep on the earth.

⁷ And God formed the man of the dust of the earth, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

⁸ but there is a spirit in mortals, and the inspiration of the Almighty is that which teaches.

²² Behold, the Mighty One shall prevail by His strength, for who is as powerful as He is?

¹² Blessed is the man whom You shall chasten, O Lord, and shall teach him out of Your law;

⁴¹ They cried, but there was no deliverer: even to the Lord, but He hearkened not to them.

⁶ Therefore pride has possessed them; they have clothed themselves with their injustice and ungodliness. ⁷ Their injustice shall go forth as out of fatness; they have fulfilled their intention. ⁸ They have taken counsel and spoken in wickedness; they have uttered unrighteousness loftily.

³ Have pity upon us, O Lord, have pity upon us; for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. ⁴ Yea, our soul has been exceedingly filled with it: let the reproach be to them that are at ease, and contempt to the proud.

²⁸ For it shall be that when you call upon me, I will not listen to you: wicked men shall seek me, but shall not find me.

¹⁴ I will go up above the clouds; I will be like the Most High. ¹⁵ But now you shall go down to hell, even to the foundations of the earth! ¹⁶ They that see you shall marvel at you, and say, This is the man that troubled the earth, that made kings to shake; ¹⁷ that made the whole world desolate, and destroyed its cities; he loosed not those who were in captivity.

³¹ Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him.

²² And receive a declaration from His mouth, and lay up His words in your heart. ²³ And if you shall turn and humble yourself before the Lord, you have thus removed unrighteousness far from your habitation. ²⁴ You shall lay up for yourself treasure in a heap on the rock; and Ophir shall be as the rock of the torrent. ²⁵ So the Almighty shall be your helper from enemies, and He shall bring you forth as pure as silver that has been tried by fire. ²⁶ Then shall you have boldness before the Lord, looking up cheerfully to heaven. ²⁷ And He shall hear you when you pray to Him, and He shall grant you power to pay your vows.

⁸ For what is the hope of the ungodly, that he holds to it? Will he indeed trust in the Lord and be saved? ⁹ Will God hear his prayer? Or when distress has come upon him,

²⁰ And I have cried to You, but You do not hear me: but they stood still, and observed me.

¹⁷ He has had regard to the prayer of the lowly, and has not despised their petition.

⁸ The sacrifices of the ungodly are an abomination to the Lord, but the prayers of them that walk honestly are acceptable to Him.

²⁹ God is far from the ungodly, but He hears the prayers of the righteous. ^(15:29A) Better are small receipts with righteousness, than abundant fruits with unrighteousness. ^(15:29B) Let the heart of a man think justly, that his steps may be rightly ordered of God.

⁹ He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even he has made his prayer abominable.

¹ Keep your foot, whenever you go to the house of God; and when you are near to hear, let your sacrifice be better than the gift of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil. ² Be not hasty with your mouth, and let not your heart be swift to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven above, and you are on earth; therefore let your words be few. ³ For through the multitude of trial a dream comes; and a fool's voice is with a multitude of words.

¹⁵ When you stretch forth your hands, I will turn away My eyes from you; and though you make many supplications, I will not hearken to you; for your hands are full of blood.

¹¹ Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I bring evils upon this people, out of which they shall not be able to come forth; and they shall presently cry to Me, but I will not listen to them.

¹⁴ And their hearts did not cry to Me, but they howled on their beds: they pined for oil and wine.

² They shall soon cry out to Me, saying, O God, we know You. ³ For Israel has turned away from good things; they have pursued an enemy.

²² Wherefore if you should bring Me your whole burnt sacrifices and grain offerings, I will not accept them, neither will I have respect to your grand peace offerings.

⁷ But when you pray, do not babble like the heathen, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.

²¹ And He said to her, "What do you desire?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right hand and one on Your left, in Your kingdom." ²² But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup which I am about to drink, or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."

³ You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend it in gratifying your lusts.

¹¹ If ever He should go beyond me, I shall not see Him: if He should pass by me, neither thus have I known it.

¹⁹ For indeed He is strong in power: who then shall resist His judgment?

⁷ Behold, I laugh at reproach; I will not speak: or I will cry out, but judgment is nowhere.

³ Oh, that I knew where I might find Him, and come to an end of the matter!

⁸ For if I shall go first, and exist no longer, still what do I know concerning the latter end? ⁹ When He worked on the left hand, then I observed it not: His right hand shall encompass me but I shall not see it. ¹⁰ For He already knows my way, and He has tried me as gold.

¹² Deliver me not over to the desire of them that afflict me; for unjust witnesses have risen up against me, and injustice has lied within herself. ¹³ I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. ¹⁴ Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened; yea, wait on the Lord!

⁵ Disclose Your way to the Lord, and trust in Him; and He shall bring it to pass. ⁶ And He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noonday.

⁵ Nevertheless, my soul is subjected to God; for of Him is my patient hope.

⁸ Hope in Him, all you congregation of the people; pour out your hearts before Him, for God is our helper. Pause.

⁵ I considered the days of old, and remembered ancient ears. ⁶ And I meditated; I communed with my heart by night, and diligently searched my spirit, saying, ⁷ Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be well pleased no more? ⁸ Will He cut off His mercy forever, even forever and ever? ⁹ Will God forget to pity? Or will He shut up His compassions in His wrath? Pause. ¹⁰ And I said, Now I have begun; this is the change of the right hand of the Most High.

² Clouds and darkness are round about Him; righteousness and judgment are the establishment of His throne.

¹⁸ And the Lord will again wait, that He may pity you, and will therefore be exalted that He may have mercy upon you; because the Lord your God is a Judge; blessed are they that wait on Him.

¹⁰ Who is among you that fears the Lord? Let him hearken to the voice of His servant; you that walk in darkness, and have no light, trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon God.

¹⁷ I will not allow any weapon formed against you to prosper; and every voice that shall rise up against you for judgment, you shall vanquish them all; and your adversaries shall be condemned thereby. There is an inheritance to them that serve the Lord, and you shall be righteous before Me, says the Lord.

⁷ But I will look to the Lord; I will wait upon God my Savior: my God will hearken to me. ⁸ Rejoice not against me, mine enemy; for I have fallen yet shall arise; for though I should sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me. ⁹ I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against Him, until He make good my cause: He also shall maintain my right, and shall bring me out to the light, and I shall behold His righteousness.

³³ Who shall bring an accusation against God's elect? It is God who justifies. ³⁴ Who is he that condemns? Christ is the One having died, but rather also having been raised, who is even at the right hand of God, who also intercedes on our behalf.

¹² And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, Because you have not believed Me to sanctify Me before the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

⁵ Yet now that pain has come upon you, and touched you, you are troubled.

¹⁴ Oh then that He would listen to me, or judge my cause.

¹⁵ Though the Mighty One should lay His hand upon me, forasmuch as He has begun, verily I will speak, and plead before Him.

¹⁵ My pains return upon me; my hope is gone like the wind, and my safety as a cloud. ¹⁶ Even now my life shall be poured forth upon me, and days of anguish seize me. ¹⁷ And by night my bones are confounded; and my sinews are relaxed. ¹⁸ With great force my disease has taken hold of my garment — it has compassed me as the collar of my coat. ¹⁹ And You have counted me as clay; my portion in dust and ashes. ²⁰ And I have cried to You, but You do not hear me: but they stood still, and observed me. ²¹ They attacked me also without mercy: You have scourged me with a strong hand. ²² And You have put me to grief, and have cast me away from safety. ²³ For I know that death will destroy me: for the earth is the house appointed for every mortal. ²⁴ Oh, that I might lay hands upon myself, or at least ask another, and he should do this for me! ²⁵ Yet I wept over every helpless man; I groaned when I saw a man in distress. ²⁶ But I, when I waited for good things, behold, days of evils came upon me all the more. ²⁷ My belly boiled, and would not cease — the days of poverty prevented me. ²⁸ I went mourning without restraint, and I have stood and cried out in the assembly. ²⁹ I have become a brother of monsters, and a companion of ostriches. ³⁰ And my skin has been greatly blackened, and my bones are burned with heat. ³¹ My harp also has been turned into mourning, and my song into my weeping.

¹¹ Shall anyone declare Your mercy in the tomb? And Your truth in destruction? ¹² Shall Your wonders be known in darkness? And Your righteousness in a forgotten land? ¹³ But I cried out to You, O Lord; and in the morning shall my prayer come before You. ¹⁴ Why, O Lord, do You reject my prayer, and turn Your face away from me? ¹⁵ I am poor and in troubles from my youth; and having been exalted, I was brought low and into despair. ¹⁶ Your wrath has passed over me; and Your terrors have greatly disquieted me.

³² I will visit their transgressions with a rod, and their sins with scourges.

⁸ How shall I deal with you, O Ephraim? How shall I protect you, O Israel? What shall I do with you? I will make you as Adamah, and as Zeboiim; My heart is turned at once, My repentance is powerfully excited. ⁹ I will not act according to the fury of My wrath, I will not abandon Ephraim to be utterly destroyed: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in your midst; and I will not enter into the city.

²⁰ But behold, you shall be silent and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which shall be fulfilled in their season."

¹¹ Now no discipline seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, later it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those having been trained by it. ¹² Therefore strengthen the hands which are weakened, and the feeble knees,

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. Be zealous therefore, and repent.

¹ After this Job opened his mouth, and cursed the day of his birth,

² For behold, I have opened my mouth, and my tongue has spoken.

⁸ But you have said in my ears, (I have heard the voice of your words) because you say, I am pure, not having sinned; ⁹ I am blameless, for I have not transgressed. ¹⁰ Yet He has discovered a charge against me, and He has reckoned me as an adversary. ¹¹ And He has put my foot in the stocks, and has watched all my ways. ¹² For how do you say, I am righteous, yet He has not listened to me? For He that is above mortals is eternal.

³⁵ But Job has not spoken with understanding, his words are not uttered with knowledge. ³⁶ Howbeit do you learn, Job: no longer giving answers as the foolish: ³⁷ that we add not to our sins: for iniquity will be reckoned against us, if we speak many words before the Lord.

² Who is this that hides counsel from Me, and confines words in his heart, and thinks to conceal them from Me?
