⁷ And Joshua said, I pray, O Lord, why has Your servant brought this people over the Jordan to deliver them to the Amorite to destroy us? If only we would had remained, and settled ourselves beyond the Jordan!

²² And Moses turned to the Lord and said, I pray, O Lord, why have You afflicted this people? And why have You sent me? ²³ For from the time that I went to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has afflicted this people, and You have not delivered Your people.

¹¹ and said to Moses, Because there were no graves in the land of Egypt have you brought us forth to slay us in the wilderness? What is this that you have done to us, having brought us out of Egypt? ¹² Is not this the word which we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians? For it is better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in this wilderness.

³ And the children of Israel said to them, Would we had died smitten by the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the fleshpots, and ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness, to slay all this congregation with hunger.

³ And the people thirsted there for water, and there the people murmured against Moses, saying, Why is this? Have you brought us up out of Egypt to slay us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

³ If only we would have died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we would have died in this wilderness! And why does the Lord bring us into this land to fall in war? Our wives and our children shall be for a prey: now then it is better to return into Egypt.

⁴ And why have you brought up the congregation of the Lord into this wilderness, to kill us and our cattle? ⁵ And why is this? You have brought us up out of Egypt, that we should come into this evil place; a place where there is no sowing, neither figs, nor vines, nor pomegranates, neither is there water to drink.

² Moses My servant is dead; now then arise, go over the Jordan, you and all this people, into the land which I give them. ³ Every spot on which you shall tread I will give it to you, as I said to Moses. ⁴ The wilderness and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, and as far as the extremity of the sea; your coasts shall be from the setting of the sun.

¹⁰ And the king of Israel said, Alas! That the Lord should have called the three kings on their way, to give them into the hand of Moab.

¹¹ And I said in my amazement, Every man is a liar.

¹ Righteous are You, O Lord, that I may make my defense to You: yet I will speak to You of judgments. Why is it that the way of the ungodly prospers? And all that deal very treacherously are flourishing? ² You have planted them, and they have taken root; they have begotten children, and become fruitful; You are near to their mouth, but far from their mind.

¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, "O unfaithful and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me."

²⁰ So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly I say to you, if you have faith like a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Be moved from here to there,' and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible for you.

¹⁷ But Jesus, knowing about it, said to them, "Why are you reasoning because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Is your heart still hardened? ¹⁸ Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the discipline of the LORD, nor be discouraged when you are reproved;
