¹ Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover. ² And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might kill Him, for they feared the people. ³ Then Satan entered into Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. ⁴ And he went off and spoke with the chief priests and captains about how he might betray Him to them. ⁵ And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. ⁶ And he promised, and was seeking an opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the crowd. ⁷ Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Pascal Lamb must be killed. ⁸ And He sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it." ⁹ So they said to Him, "Where do You desire that we shall prepare it?" ¹⁰ And He said to them, "Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he goes in. ¹¹ Then you shall say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says to you, "Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?" ' ¹² And that man will show you a large, furnished upper room; there prepare it." ¹³ So they went and found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover. ¹⁴ When the hour had come, He reclined to eat, and the twelve apostles with Him. ¹⁵ Then He said to them, "I have fervently desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; ¹⁶ for I say to you, that no longer will I eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God." ¹⁷ Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, "Take this and divide it among yourselves; ¹⁸ for I say to you, that I will by no means drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes." ¹⁹ And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." ²⁰ Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. ²¹ Nevertheless behold, the hand of him that betrays Me is with Me on the table. ²² And indeed the Son of Man goes according to what is determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!" ²³ Then they began to discuss with one another, which of them might be the one who was about to do this. ²⁴ And there became also a dispute among them, as to which of them seemed to be greater. ²⁵ But He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called 'benefactors.' ²⁶ But you shall not be thus; but let the greatest among you, let him be as the youngest, and he who leads as he who serves. ²⁷ For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves. ²⁸ Now you are those who have remained with Me in My trials. ²⁹ And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, ³⁰ so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel." ³¹ And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon! Behold, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. ³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." ³³ But he said to Him, "Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death." ³⁴ Then He said, "I say to you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me." ³⁵ And He said to them, "When I sent you without a money bag, and a knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?" And they said, "Nothing." ³⁶ Then He said to them, "But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise also a knapsack; and he who has no sword shall sell his garment and buy one. ³⁷ For I say to you that this which has been written must still be accomplished in Me--the saying, 'And He was numbered with the transgressors.' For the things concerning Me have a fulfillment." ³⁸ So they said, "Lord, look, here are two swords." And He said to them, "It is enough." ³⁹ And going out, He went to the Mount of Olives, according to His custom, and His disciples also followed Him. ⁴⁰ And having come to the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation." ⁴¹ And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and prayed, ⁴² saying, "Father, if You will, remove this cup from Me--nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done." ⁴³ Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. ⁴⁴ And being in agony, He prayed more fervently. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down onto the ground. ⁴⁵ And rising up from prayer, coming to the disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow. ⁴⁶ Then He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise up and pray, lest you enter into temptation." ⁴⁷ And while He was still speaking, behold, a crowd; and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was going before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him. ⁴⁸ But Jesus said to him, "Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?" ⁴⁹ And those around Him, seeing what was about to happen, they said to Him, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?" ⁵⁰ And a certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. ⁵¹ But Jesus answered and said, "Stop right there." And touching his ear, He healed him. ⁵² Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, "Have you come out, as against a bandit, with swords and clubs? ⁵³ When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness." ⁵⁴ And having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the house of the high priest. And Peter was following from a distance. ⁵⁵ Now when they had lit a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat in their midst. ⁵⁶ And a certain servant girl, seeing him sitting at the fire and gazing at him, said, "This man was also with Him." ⁵⁷ But he denied Him, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him." ⁵⁸ And after a little while another person saw him and said, "You also are one of them." But Peter said, "Man, I am not!" ⁵⁹ Then after about one hour had passed, another was firmly insisting, saying, "Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean." ⁶⁰ But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying!" And immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. ⁶¹ And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, "Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." ⁶² And going outside, Peter wept bitterly. ⁶³ Now the men who were holding Jesus were mocking Him and beating Him. ⁶⁴ And having blindfolded Him, they were striking His face and asking Him, saying, "Prophesy! Who is the one who struck You?" ⁶⁵ And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him. ⁶⁶ And when it became day, the council of the elders of the people, the chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him into their council, saying, ⁶⁷ "If You are the Messiah, tell us." But He said to them, "If I tell you, you will by no means believe. ⁶⁸ But if I also question you, you will by no means answer Me or release Me. ⁶⁹ Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God." ⁷⁰ Then they all said, "Are You then the Son of God?" So He said to them, "You rightly say that I am." ⁷¹ And they said, "What further testimony do we need? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth!"

⁶ And it shall be kept by you till the fourteenth of this month, and all the multitude of the congregation of the children of Israel shall kill it toward evening. ⁷ And they shall take of the blood, and shall put it on the two doorposts, and on the lintel, in the houses wherever they shall eat them. ⁸ And they shall eat the flesh in this night roasted with fire, and they shall eat unleavened bread with bitter herbs. ⁹ You shall not eat of it raw nor boiled in water, but only roasted with fire, the head with its legs and its entrails. ¹⁰ Nothing shall be left of it till the morning, and a bone of it you shall not break; but that which is left of it till the morning you shall burn with fire. ¹¹ And thus shall you eat it: your loins girded, and your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand, and you shall eat it in haste. It is a Passover to the Lord. ¹² And I will go throughout the land of Egypt in that night, and I will smite every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast, and on all the gods of Egypt will I execute vengeance: I am the Lord. ¹³ And the blood shall be for a sign to you on the houses in which you are, and I will see the blood, and will protect you, and there shall not be on you the plague of destruction, when I smite in the land of Egypt. ¹⁴ And this day shall be to you a memorial, and you shall keep it a feast to the Lord through all your generations; you shall keep it a feast for a perpetual ordinance. ¹⁵ Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and from the first day you shall utterly remove leaven from your houses: whoever shall eat leaven, that soul shall be utterly destroyed from Israel, from the first day until the seventh day. ¹⁶ And the first day shall be called holy, and the seventh day shall be a holy convocation to you. You shall do no servile work on them, only as many things as is necessary shall be done by every soul, this only shall be done by you. ¹⁷ And you shall keep this commandment, for on this day will I bring out your force out of the land of Egypt; and you shall make this day a perpetual ordinance for you throughout your generations. ¹⁸ Beginning the fourteenth day of the first month, you shall eat unleavened bread from evening, till the twenty-first day of the month, till evening. ¹⁹ Seven days leaven shall not be found in your houses; whosoever shall eat anything leavened, that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, both among the occupiers of the land and the original inhabitants. ²⁰ You shall eat nothing leavened, but in every habitation of yours you shall eat unleavened bread. ²¹ And Moses called all the elders of the children of Israel, and said to them, Go away and take to yourselves a lamb according to your families, and slay the Passover lamb. ²² And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, and having dipped it into some of the blood that is by the door, you shall touch the lintel, and shall put it upon both doorposts, even of the blood which is by the door; but none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning. ²³ And the Lord shall pass by to smite the Egyptians, and shall see the blood upon the lintel, and upon the doorposts; and the Lord shall pass over the door, and shall not allow the destroyer to enter into your houses to kill you.

⁵ In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, between the evening times is the Lord's Passover. ⁶ And on the fifteenth day of this month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; seven days shall you eat unleavened bread.

² You know that after two days the Passover takes place, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified." ³ Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were assembled into the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, ⁴ and plotted to take Jesus by guile and kill Him. ⁵ But they said, "Not during the feast, lest a disturbance take place among the people."

¹ Now after two days it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might get hold of Him by guile, and how they might kill Him. ² But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be a disturbance of the people."

¹² Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was sacrificed, His disciples said to Him, "Where do You desire that we go and prepare, that You may eat the Passover?"

⁵⁵ And the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went from the country up to Jerusalem before the Passover, so that they might purify themselves. ⁵⁶ Then they were seeking Jesus, and they were speaking with one another, standing in the temple, "What do you think--that He will definitely not come to the feast?" ⁵⁷ Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it, so that they might seize Him.

⁷ Purge out the old leaven, in order that you may be a new batch of dough, since you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. ⁸ So then let us observe the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

¹ Why did the heathen rage, and the nations imagine vain things? ² The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers gathered themselves together, against the Lord, and against His Christ; ³ saying, Let us break through Their bonds, and cast away Their yoke from us. ⁴ He that dwells in the heavens shall laugh them to scorn, and the Lord shall mock them. ⁵ Then shall He speak to them in His anger, and trouble them in His fury.

¹⁴ But the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him.

³⁸ "But when the farmers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and let us gain possession of his inheritance.'

⁴⁵ Now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they knew that He was speaking about them. ⁴⁶ And seeking to seize Him, they feared the crowds, since they considered Him as a prophet.

⁴⁷ And He was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people were seeking to destroy Him, ⁴⁸ and were unable to do anything; for all the people were very attentive to hear Him.

¹⁹ And the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on Him that very hour, but they were afraid--for they knew that He had spoken this parable against them.

⁴⁷ Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What are we doing? For this Man works many signs. ⁴⁸ If we leave Him alone in this way, all will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and will take away both our place and our nation." ⁴⁹ But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You don't know anything, ⁵⁰ nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish." ⁵¹ Now this he did not say on his own, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was about to die for the nation, ⁵² and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad. ⁵³ Therefore from that day on they took counsel together, that they might kill Him.

⁵⁷ Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it, so that they might seize Him.

²⁷ "For truly they were assembled against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel,

⁹ For even the man of my peace, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, lifted up his heel against me.

¹² For if an enemy had reproached me, I would have endured it; and if one who hated me had spoken vauntingly against me, I would have hid myself from him. ¹³ But you, O like-minded man, my guide, and my acquaintance, ¹⁴ who in companionship with me sweetened our food; we walked in the house of God in concord.

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him alone you shall serve.' "

¹⁴ Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests ¹⁵ and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?" And they weighed out for him thirty silver coins. ¹⁶ And from then on he sought an opportunity to betray Him.

²³ He answered and said, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl will betray Me.

¹⁰ Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went off to the chief priests to betray Him to them. ¹¹ And having heard, they rejoiced and promised to give him money. So he was seeking how at some good time he might deliver Him up.

¹⁸ And while they were reclining and eating, Jesus said, "Assuredly, I say to you, one of you eating with Me will betray Me." ¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him one by one, "Is it I?" And another said, "Is it I?" ²⁰ But answering He said to them, "It is one of the twelve, the one dipping with Me in the bowl.

¹⁶ Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot who also became a traitor.

²¹ Nevertheless behold, the hand of him that betrays Me is with Me on the table.

⁷⁰ He answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?" ⁷¹ Now He was speaking about Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for he was intending to betray Him, though he was one of the twelve.

⁶ This he said, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to pilfer the things which were placed in it.

² And after supper, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray Him,

¹⁸ I do not speak concerning all of you. I know those whom I chose; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.'

²⁶ Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it." And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. ²⁷ And after the piece of bread, then Satan entered him. Therefore Jesus said to him, "What you do, do quickly."

³ But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart for you to lie to the Holy Spirit, and for you to keep back for yourself from the price of the land?

¹⁴ Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests

⁵² Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, "Have you come out, as against a bandit, with swords and clubs?

¹ Now while they were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them,

²⁴ Now when they heard these words, both the high priest and the captain of the temple, and the chief priests, they were greatly perplexed about them, as to what would come of this.

²⁶ Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they were afraid of the people, lest they be stoned.

¹² And I will say to them, If it is good in your eyes, give me my price, or refuse it. And they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. ¹³ And the Lord said to me, Drop them into the furnace, and I will see if it is good metal, as I was proved for their sakes. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them into the furnace in the house of the Lord.

³ Then Judas, the one betraying Him, seeing that He was condemned, feeling regret, returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and elders, ⁴ saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!" ⁵ And throwing the silver coins in the sanctuary, he departed; and going away, he hanged himself.

¹⁸ (Now this man purchased a field by means of the wages of his unrighteousness, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.

²⁰ But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought to acquire the gift of God through money!

⁹ But those desiring to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many senseless and harmful lusts which sink men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all evils, of which some by aspiring have strayed away from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

³ And by covetousness they will exploit you with fabricated words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction will not sleep.

¹⁵ They have left behind the straight way and gone astray, having followed after the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

¹¹ Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, and in the error of Balaam they have rushed for profit, and have perished in the rebellion of Korah.

⁵ But they said, "Not during the feast, lest a disturbance take place among the people."

² But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be a disturbance of the people."

⁶ And it shall be kept by you till the fourteenth of this month, and all the multitude of the congregation of the children of Israel shall kill it toward evening.

¹⁸ Beginning the fourteenth day of the first month, you shall eat unleavened bread from evening, till the twenty-first day of the month, till evening.

¹⁷ Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, "Where do You desire that we shall prepare for You to eat the Passover?" ¹⁸ And He said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is near; at your house I will keep the Passover with My disciples." ' " ¹⁹ So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.

¹⁵ But Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he permitted Him.

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

¹ Now Peter and John were going up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, which was the ninth hour.

¹¹ And while the lame man who had been healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon's, utterly astonished.

¹³ Now when they observed the boldness of Peter and John, and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

¹⁹ But Peter and John answered them and said, "Whether it is right before God to hear you rather than God, you judge.

¹⁴ Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John,

⁴ But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, ⁵ so that He might redeem those under the law, so that we might receive the adoption.

² As soon as you have departed from me this day, you shall find two men by the burial place of Rachel on the mount of Benjamin, exulting greatly. And they shall say to you, The donkeys which you went to look for have been found; and behold, your father has given up the matter of the donkeys, and he is anxious for you, saying, What shall I do for my son? ³ And you shall depart from there, and shall go beyond that as far as the oak of Tabor, and you shall find there three men going up to God, to Bethel, one bearing three young goats, and another bearing three vessels of bread, and another bearing a bottle of wine. ⁴ And they shall ask you how you are doing, and shall give you two loaves of bread, and you shall receive them from their hand. ⁵ And afterward you shall go to the hill of God, where the encampment of the Philistines is. Nasib the Philistine is there. And it shall come to pass when you have entered into the city, that you shall meet a band of prophets coming down from the high place; and before them will be lutes, a drum, a pipe, and a harp, and they shall prophesy. ⁶ And the Spirit of the Lord shall come upon you, and you shall prophesy with them, and you shall be changed into another man. ⁷ And it shall come to pass when these signs come upon you — then do whatsoever your hand shall find, because God is with you.

²⁹ And it came to pass, as He drew near to Bethsphage and Bethany, to the mountain which is called Olivet, that He sent two of His disciples, ³⁰ saying, "Go into the village opposite you, in which when you enter you will find a colt tied up, on which no one of men has ever sat. Loose him and bring him here. ³¹ And if anyone asks you, 'Why are you loosing him?' thus you shall say to him, 'Because the Lord has need of him.' " ³² So those who were sent departed and found it just as He told them. ³³ But as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, "Why are you loosing the colt?" ³⁴ And they said, "The Lord has need of him." ³⁵ Then they brought him to Jesus. And when they threw their own clothes on the colt, they set Jesus on him. ³⁶ And as He went, they were spreading their clothes under Him on the road. ³⁷ And as He was approaching the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, ³⁸ saying: " 'Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the LORD!' Peace in heaven and glory in the highest! " ³⁹ And some of the Pharisees said to Him from the crowd, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples." ⁴⁰ But He answered and said to them, "I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out."

⁴ But these things I have spoken to you, so that when the time comes, you may remember them, that I told you. But these things I did not say to you from the beginning, because I was with you.

²⁶ Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, "Get up and go toward the south on the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is desolate. ²⁷ And arising, he went; and behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch, a court official of Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem worshipping, ²⁸ and he was returning. And sitting upon his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah. ²⁹ Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go near, and join yourself to this chariot."

³ And if anyone asks you anything, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and immediately he sends them."

⁵ And when He came upon that place, Jesus looked up and saw him, and said to him, "Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay in your house."

³¹ And if anyone asks you, 'Why are you loosing him?' thus you shall say to him, 'Because the Lord has need of him.' "

³⁴ And they said, "The Lord has need of him."

²⁸ And when she had said these things, she went out and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, "The Teacher is here and is calling for you."

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and I am knocking. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and I will dine with him, and he with Me.

²⁵ and had no need that anyone should testify concerning man, for He himself knew what was in man.

¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you care for Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you care for Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I care for You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

¹³ And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying; both Peter and James and John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.

¹⁴ And a certain woman named Lydia, a dealer of purple cloth of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, heard us, whose heart The Lord opened to give heed to the things spoken by Paul. ¹⁵ And when she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay." So she persuaded us.

⁸ And there were a considerable number of lamps in the upper room where we were assembled.

³² So those who were sent departed and found it just as He told them.

³³ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall by no means pass away.

⁵ His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He may say to you, do."

⁴⁰ Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?"

⁸ By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go forth to the place which he was about to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

⁶ But in the place which the Lord your God shall choose, to have His name called there, you shall sacrifice the Passover at even at the setting of the sun, at the time when you came out of Egypt. ⁷ And you shall boil and roast and eat it in the place, which the Lord your God shall choose; and you shall return in the morning, and go to your house.

²⁰ And when it was evening, He was reclining to eat with the twelve.

³⁰ Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and they reported to Him all things, both everything they had done and everything they had taught.

¹⁷ And when it was evening, He came with the twelve.

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is completed!

³⁴ Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

¹ Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

¹ Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the time has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,

³⁷ Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly I say to you, that he will gird himself and have them recline to eat, and he will come and serve them.

¹⁵ Now when one of those who sat at the table with Him heard these things, he said to Him, "Blessed is he who shall eat dinner in the kingdom of God!"

³⁰ so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel."

²⁷ Work not for the food which perishes, but for the food which abides unto everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give to you; for upon Him God the Father has set His seal."

⁵⁰ This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." ⁵² Therefore the Jews were contending with one another, saying, "How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?" ⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. ⁵⁴ Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up in the last day. ⁵⁵ For My flesh truly is food, and My blood truly is drink. ⁵⁶ He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread which came down from heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna, and died. He that eats this bread shall live forever."

⁴¹ not to all the people, but to witnesses, who having been chosen beforehand by God, even to us, who ate together and drank together with Him after He arose from the dead.

¹ For the law having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the image itself of the things, can never with the same sacrifices, which they offer continually every year, make those approaching perfect. ² Otherwise they would not have ceased to be offered, because the worshippers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. ³ But in them there is a reminder of sins every year. ⁴ For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. ⁵ Therefore, when He entered into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me. ⁶ In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. ⁷ Then I said, 'Behold, I have come--In the volume of the book it is written of Me-- To do Your will, O God.' " ⁸ Earlier saying, "Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and sacrifices for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them" (which are offered according to the law), ⁹ then He has said, "Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God." He takes away the first in order that He may establish the second. ¹⁰ By which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

⁹ Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb!' " And he said to me, "These are the true words of God."

¹⁰ And you shall eat and be filled, and shall bless the Lord your God on the good land, which He has given you.

¹³ As soon as you shall enter into the city, so shall you find him in the city, before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people will not eat until he comes in, for he blesses the sacrifice, and afterwards the guests eat. Now then go up, for you shall find him because of the holiday.

⁵ You have prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; and Your cup cheers me like the best wine.

¹³ I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.

⁷ And there shall be no bread broken in mourning for them in consolation over the dead; they shall not give one to drink a cup for consolation over his father or his mother.

¹⁶ And taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.

¹⁹ And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

⁶ He that regards the day, regards it to the Lord; and he that does not regard the day, to the Lord he does not regard it. And he that eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he that does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and he gives thanks to God.

⁴ Because every creature of God is good, and not one is to be rejected, being received with thanksgiving, ⁵ for it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.

¹³ And the vine said to them, Shall I leave my wine that cheers God and men, and go to be promoted over the trees?

¹⁵ and wine makes glad the heart of man, to make his face cheerful with oil; and bread strengthens man's heart.

⁶ Give strong drink to those that are in sorrow, and the wine to drink to those in pain, ⁷ that they may forget their poverty, and may not remember their troubles anymore.

¹ Let my kinsman come down into his garden, and eat the fruit of his choice berries. I have come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spices; I have eaten my bread with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends, and drink; yes, brethren, drink abundantly.

⁹ They are ashamed, they have not drunk wine; strong drink has become bitter to them that drink it. ¹⁰ All the city has become desolate; one shall shut his house so that none shall enter. ¹¹ There is a howling for the wine everywhere; all the mirth of the land has ceased, all the mirth of the land has departed.

⁶ And the Lord of hosts shall make a feast for all the nations; on this mount they shall drink gladness, they shall drink wine;

¹ You that thirst, go to the water, and all that have no money, go and buy; and eat and drink wine and milk without money or price.

⁴⁴ And in the days of those kings the God of heaven shall set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and His kingdom shall not be left to another people, but it shall beat to pieces and grind to powder all other kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

¹⁵ The Lord Almighty shall protect them, and they shall destroy them, and overwhelm them with slingstones; and they shall swallow them down as wine, and fill the bowls as the altar.

¹⁷ For if He has anything good, and if He has anything fair, the young men shall have grain, and there shall be fragrant wine to the virgins.

¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I shall build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.

²⁹ But I say to you, that I will by no means drink of this fruit of the vine from now on, until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom."

¹ And He said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will by no means taste death till they see the kingdom of God actually come in power."

²³ And taking the cup and giving thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it.

²⁵ Assuredly I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."

²³ And they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it.

²⁷ But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will by no means taste death until they see the kingdom of God."

³¹ So you also, when you see these things coming to pass, know that the kingdom of God is near.

¹⁶ for I say to you, that no longer will I eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."

³⁰ "Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to seat Him on his throne, ³¹ foreseeing this, he spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, "that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption." ³² "This Jesus God has raised up, of which we all are witnesses." ³³ "Therefore having being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. ³⁴ "For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: 'The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, ³⁵ Till I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet." ³⁶ "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

¹⁸ And do not get drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, ¹⁹ speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

¹³ He has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

²⁶ The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads are seven years; the dream of Pharaoh is one. ²⁷ And the seven thin cows that came up after them are seven years; and the seven thin and blasted heads are seven years; there shall be seven years of famine.

⁴ They were not hid from their children to a second generation; the fathers declaring the praises of the Lord, and His mighty acts, and His wonders which He has done. ⁵ And He raised up a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, to make it known to their children; ⁶ that another generation might know, even the sons which should be born; and they should arise and declare them to their children.

⁴ He has caused His wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is merciful and compassionate.

⁴ They have drawn you: we will run after you, for the smell of your ointments: the king has brought me into his closet: let us rejoice and be glad in you; we will love your breasts more than wine: righteousness loves you.

¹¹ And the Lord spoke to me, saying, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: and they say, Our bones have become dry, our hope has perished, we are quite spent.

³⁸ in every place where the children of men dwell: and He has given into your hand the wild beasts of the field, and the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea, and He has made you ruler over them all.

²² is you, O king; for you have grown great and powerful, and your greatness has increased and reached to the heavens, and your dominion to the ends of the earth. ²³ And whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, and he said, Strip the tree, and destroy it; only leave the stump of its roots in the ground, and bind it with a band of iron and brass; and it shall lie in the outer grass, and in the dew of heaven, and its portion shall be with wild beasts, until seven times have passed over it. ²⁴ This is the interpretation of it, O king, and it is a decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king:

⁷ And behold a talent of lead lifted up; and behold a woman sat in the midst of the measure. ⁸ And he said, This is iniquity. And he cast it into the midst of the measure, and cast the weight of lead on the mouth of it.

¹⁹ And commanding the crowds to recline on the grass, taking the five loaves of bread and the two fish, looking up to heaven, He blessed, and breaking them, He gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the crowds.

²⁶ And as they were eating, Jesus took the bread, and giving thanks, He broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." ²⁷ Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink of it, all of you, ²⁸ for this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many, for the forgiveness of sins.

²² And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." ²³ And taking the cup and giving thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. ²⁴ And He said to them, "This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.

¹⁷ Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, "Take this and divide it among yourselves;

²⁰ Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

³⁰ Now it came to pass, as He was reclining to eat with them, having taken bread, He blessed and broke it, and He gave it to them.

²³ however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks--

⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world."

⁴ and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they were drinking from that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

²³ For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered unto you: that the Lord Jesus, during the night in which He was betrayed, took bread; ²⁴ and having given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which has been broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." ²⁵ Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." ²⁶ For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. ²⁷ Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord irreverently will be guilty of the body of the Lord and of the blood of the Lord. ²⁸ But let a man examine himself, and in this way let him eat from the bread and drink from the cup. ²⁹ For he that eats and drinks irreverently eats and drinks judgment to himself, not judging correctly the body of the Lord.

⁴ who gave Himself for our sins, so that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

²⁵ for Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, and is in slavery with her children--

² And walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and gave Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a fragrant aroma.

¹⁸ In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

¹⁴ who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself a people as His own possession, zealous for good works.

²⁴ who Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, in order that having died to sins, we might live unto righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.

⁸ And Moses took the blood and sprinkled it upon the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord has made with you concerning all these words.

³¹ Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah.

¹¹ And you, by the blood of your covenant, have sent forth your prisoners out of the waterless pit.

²⁸ for this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many, for the forgiveness of sins.

¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? ¹⁷ Because we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake from the one bread. ¹⁸ Look at Israel according to the flesh: are not those who eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? ¹⁹ What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? ²⁰ No, but that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not desire that you should have fellowship with demons. ²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons.

²⁵ Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

⁶ who also has made us efficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit makes alive.

⁶ But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted upon better promises. ⁷ For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. ⁸ For finding fault with them, He says: "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, ⁹ not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers, in the day when I took their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt. Because they did not persevere in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the LORD. ¹⁰ For this is the covenant which I shall covenant with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind, and I shall inscribe them upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. ¹¹ And by no means will they teach each one his fellow citizen, and each one his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. ¹² For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I shall by no means remember anymore." ¹³ By the saying "new," He has made the first obsolete. And the one becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish.

¹⁵ And on account of this He is the Mediator of the new covenant, so that, since a death has occurred for redemption of the transgressions at the time of the first covenant, that those having been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

¹⁷ For a testament is valid over dead people, since it is never valid when the one making the testament lives.

²⁴ and to Jesus, the Mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling which speaks better things than the blood of Abel.

²⁰ Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the everlasting covenant,

¹⁹ They that saw me abhorred me: the very persons whom I had loved, rose up against me.

⁵ Trust not in friends, and confide not in guides: beware of your wife, so as not to commit anything to her. ⁶ For the son dishonors his father, the daughter will rise up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law: those in his house shall be all a man's enemies.

²¹ Now while they were eating, He said, "Assuredly I say to you, that one of you will betray Me." ²² And becoming exceedingly sorrowful, each of them began to say to Him, "Surely not I am the one, Lord?" ²³ He answered and said, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl will betray Me. ²⁴ Indeed, the Son of Man goes just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."

¹⁸ And while they were reclining and eating, Jesus said, "Assuredly, I say to you, one of you eating with Me will betray Me." ¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him one by one, "Is it I?" And another said, "Is it I?" ²⁰ But answering He said to them, "It is one of the twelve, the one dipping with Me in the bowl. ²¹ The Son of Man indeed is going away just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man not to have been born."

¹⁸ I do not speak concerning all of you. I know those whom I chose; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.' ¹⁹ From now on I tell you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe that I AM.

²¹ When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in His spirit, and testified and said, "Most assuredly I say to you, one of you will betray Me." ²² Therefore the disciples were looking at one another, perplexed about whom He was speaking.

²⁶ Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it." And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

^{15 (3:16)} And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her Seed, He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.

¹ For the end, concerning the morning aid, A Psalm of David. O God, my God, attend to me; why have You forsaken me? The account of my transgressions is far from my salvation. ² O my God, I will cry to You by day, but You will not hear; and by night, and it shall not be reckoned to me as folly. ³ But You, O praise of Israel, dwell in a sanctuary. ⁴ Our fathers hoped in You; they hoped, and You delivered them. ⁵ They cried to You, and were saved; they hoped in You, and were not ashamed. ⁶ But I am a worm, and not a man; a reproach of men, and the scorn of the people. ⁷ All that saw Me mocked Me; they spoke with their lips, they shook the head, saying, ⁸ He hoped in the Lord; let Him deliver Him, let Him save Him, because He takes pleasure in Him. ⁹ For You are He that drew Me out of the womb; My hope from My mother's breasts. ¹⁰ I was cast on You from the womb; You are My God from My mother's belly. ¹¹ Be not far from Me, for affliction is near; for there is no helper. ¹² Many bulls have compassed Me; fat bulls have beset Me round about. ¹³ They have opened their mouth against Me, as a ravening and roaring lion. ¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all My bones are loosened; My heart in the midst of My belly has become like melting wax. ¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and My tongue is glued to My throat; and You have brought Me down to the dust of death. ¹⁶ For many dogs have compassed Me; the assembly of the evildoers has enclosed Me; they pierced My hands and My feet. ¹⁷ They counted all My bones; and they observed and looked upon Me. ¹⁸ They parted My garments among themselves, and cast lots for My clothing. ¹⁹ But You, O Lord, be not far from Me; be ready for My aid. ²⁰ Deliver My soul from the sword; My only begotten soul from the power of the dog. ²¹ Save Me from the lion's mouth; and regard My lowliness from the horns of the unicorns. ²² I will declare Your name to My brothers; in the midst of the church will I sing praise to You. ²³ You that fear the Lord, praise Him; all you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him; let all the seed of Israel fear Him. ²⁴ For He has not despised nor been angry at the supplication of the poor; nor turned away His face from Me; but when I cried to Him, He heard Me. ²⁵ My praise is of You in the great congregation; I will pay My vows before them that fear Him. ²⁶ The poor shall eat and be satisfied; and they shall praise the Lord that seek Him; their heart shall live forever. ²⁷ All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before Him. ²⁸ For the kingdom is the Lord's; and He is the governor of the nations. ²⁹ All the fat ones of the earth have eaten and worshipped; all that go down to the earth shall fall down before Him; my soul also lives to him. ³⁰ And my seed shall serve him; the generation that is coming shall be reported to the Lord. ³¹ And they shall report His righteousness to the people that shall be born, whom the Lord has made.

¹² For if an enemy had reproached me, I would have endured it; and if one who hated me had spoken vauntingly against me, I would have hid myself from him. ¹³ But you, O like-minded man, my guide, and my acquaintance, ¹⁴ who in companionship with me sweetened our food; we walked in the house of God in concord. ¹⁵ Let death come upon them, and let them go down alive into Hades, for iniquity is in their dwellings, in the midst of them.

¹ For the end, A Psalm of David, for alternate strains. Save me, O God; for the waters have come in to my soul. ² I am stuck fast in deep mire, and there is no standing: I have come in to the depths of the sea, and a storm has overwhelmed me. ³ I am weary of crying, my throat has become hoarse; my eyes have failed by my waiting on my God. ⁴ Those that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; my enemies that persecute me unrighteously are strengthened. Then I restored that which I took not away. ⁵ O God, You know my foolishness; and my transgressions are not hidden from You. ⁶ Let not them that wait on You, O Lord of hosts, be ashamed on my account; let not them that seek You, be ashamed on my account, O God of Israel. ⁷ For I have suffered reproach for Your sake; shame has covered my face. ⁸ I became strange to my brethren, and a stranger to my mother's children. ⁹ For the zeal of Your house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached You have fallen upon me. ¹⁰ And I bowed down my soul with fasting, and that was made my reproach. ¹¹ And I put on sackcloth for my covering; and I became a proverb to them. ¹² Those that sit in the gate talked against me, and those that drank wine sang against me. ¹³ But I will cry to You, O Lord, in my prayer; O God, it is a propitious time: in the multitude of Your mercy hear me, in the truth of Your salvation. ¹⁴ Save me from the mire, that I stick not in it; let me be delivered from them that hate me, and from the deep waters. ¹⁵ Let not the floodwater drown me, nor let the deep swallow me up; neither let the well shut its mouth upon me. ¹⁶ Hear me, O Lord; for Your mercy is good: according to the multitude of Your compassions, look upon me. ¹⁷ And turn not away Your face from Your servant; for I am afflicted; hear me speedily. ¹⁸ Draw near to my soul and redeem it: deliver me because of my enemies. ¹⁹ For You know my reproach, and my shame, and my confusion; all that afflict me are before You. ²⁰ My soul has waited for reproach and misery; and I waited for one to grieve with me, but there was none; and for one to comfort me, but I found none. ²¹ They gave me also gall for my food, and made me drink vinegar for my thirst. ²² Let their table before them be for a snare, and for a recompense, and for a stumbling block. ²³ Let their eyes be darkened that they should not see; and bow down their back continually. ²⁴ Pour out Your wrath upon them, and let the fury of Your anger take hold of them. ²⁵ Let their habitation be made desolate; and let there be no inhabitant in their tents; ²⁶ because they persecuted him whom You have smitten; and they have added to the grief of my wounds. ²⁷ Add iniquity to their iniquity; and let them not come into Your righteousness. ²⁸ Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and let them not be written with the righteous. ²⁹ I am poor and sorrowful; but the salvation of Your countenance has helped me. ³⁰ I will praise the name of my God with a song, I will magnify Him with praise; ³¹ and this shall please God more than a young calf having horns and hoofs. ³² Let the poor see and rejoice; seek the Lord diligently, and you shall live. ³³ For the Lord hears the poor, and does not despise His prisoners. ³⁴ Let the heavens and the earth praise Him, the sea, and all things moving in them. ³⁵ For God will save Zion, and the cities of Judah shall be built; and men shall dwell there, and inherit it. ³⁶ And the seed of His servants shall possess it, and those that love His name shall dwell in it.

⁶ Set a sinner against him; and let an accuser stand at his right hand. ⁷ When he is judged, let him go forth condemned; and let his prayer become sin. ⁸ Let his days be few; and let another take his office of overseer. ⁹ Let his children be orphans, and his wife a widow. ¹⁰ Let his children wander without a dwelling place and beg; let them be cast out of their habitations. ¹¹ Let his creditor exact all that belongs to him; and let strangers spoil his labors. ¹² Let him have no helper; neither let there be anyone to have compassion on his fatherless children. ¹³ Let his children be given up to utter destruction; in one generation let his name be blotted out. ¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. ¹⁵ Let them be before the Lord continually; and let their memorial be blotted out from the earth.

¹ O Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? ² We brought a report as of a child before Him; He is as a root in a thirsty land; He has no form, nor comeliness; and we saw Him, but He had no form nor beauty. ³ But His form was ignoble, and inferior to that of the children of men; He was a man in suffering, and acquainted with the bearing of sickness, for His face has turned from us; He was dishonored, and not esteemed. ⁴ He bears our sins, and is pained for us; yet we accounted Him to be in trouble, and in suffering, and in affliction. ⁵ But He was wounded on account of our sins, and was bruised because of our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and by His stripes we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; everyone has gone astray in his way; and the Lord gave Him up for our sins. ⁷ And He, because of His affliction, opened not His mouth; He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so He opened not His mouth. ⁸ In His humiliation His judgment was taken away; who shall declare His generation? For His life is taken away from the earth; because of the iniquities of My people He was led to death. ⁹ And I will give the wicked for His burial, and the rich for His death; for He practiced no iniquity, nor craft with His mouth. ¹⁰ The Lord also is pleased to purge Him from His stroke. If you give an offering for sin, Your soul shall see a long-lived seed; ¹¹ the Lord also is pleased to take away from the travail of His soul, to show Him light, and to form Him with understanding; to justify the just one who serves many well; and He shall bear their sins. ¹² Therefore He shall inherit many, and He shall divide the spoils of the mighty; because His soul was delivered to death; and He was numbered among the transgressors; and He bore the sins of many, and was delivered up because of their transgressions.

²⁴ Seventy weeks have been determined upon your people, and upon the holy city, for sin to be ended, to seal up transgressions, to blot out iniquities, to make atonement for iniquities, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy. ²⁵ And you shall know and understand, that from the going forth of the command for the answer and for the building of Jerusalem, until Christ the Prince, there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks; and then the time shall return, and the street shall be built, and the wall, and the times shall be exhausted. ²⁶ And after the sixty-two weeks, the Anointed One shall be killed, and there is no judgment in Him. And He shall destroy the city and the sanctuary with the prince that is to come: they shall be cut off with a flood, and to the end of the war which is rapidly completed He shall appoint the city to desolations.

⁷ Awake, O sword, against My shepherds, and against the man who is My citizen, says the Lord Almighty; strike the shepherds, and draw out the sheep: and I will bring My hand upon the little ones.

²⁴ Indeed, the Son of Man goes just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."

⁵³ Or do you think that I cannot now call upon My Father, and He will furnish Me with more than twelve legions of angels? ⁵⁴ How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?"

⁵ And throwing the silver coins in the sanctuary, he departed; and going away, he hanged himself.

²¹ The Son of Man indeed is going away just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man not to have been born."

²⁵ Then He said to them, "O you foolish, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! ²⁶ Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?" ²⁷ And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

⁴⁶ Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

¹² When I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You have given Me I guarded; and not one of them is lost except the son of perdition, so that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

¹⁶ Men, brothers; it was necessary for this Scripture to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; ¹⁷ for he was numbered with us and obtained a portion in this ministry." ¹⁸ (Now this man purchased a field by means of the wages of his unrighteousness, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out. ¹⁹ And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood.) ²⁰ For it is written in the book of Psalms: 'Let his homestead become desolate, and let no one dwell in it'; and, 'May another take his office of overseer. ' ²¹ "Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us in every time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, ²² beginning from the baptism of John until the day in which He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection." ²³ And they nominated two: Joseph who is called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. ²⁴ And they prayed and said, "You, O Lord, knower of all hearts, show whom You have chosen of these two" ²⁵ "to receive the portion in this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place."

²³ Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you took, and by lawless hands, nailing Him to a cross, you killed Him;

²⁵ who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: 'Why did the nations rage, and the people conspired vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were assembled together against the LORD and against His Christ.' ²⁷ "For truly they were assembled against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, ²⁸ to do all that Your hand and Your counsel foreordained to come to pass.

²⁷ For those dwelling in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor the voices of the Prophets which are being read according to each Sabbath, condemning him, they fulfilled the Scriptures. ²⁸ And finding no cause for death, they asked Pilate that He be executed.

²² Therefore, having obtained help from God, until this day I stand, witnessing both to common people and great people, saying nothing except the things which both the prophets and Moses spoke of as being about to happen, ²³ that the Christ was to suffer, that as the first to rise from the dead, He was about to proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles."

³ For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, ⁴ and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

¹¹ searching for who or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ in them was revealing when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories which were to follow:

²² And becoming exceedingly sorrowful, each of them began to say to Him, "Surely not I am the one, Lord?"

¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him one by one, "Is it I?" And another said, "Is it I?"

²² Therefore the disciples were looking at one another, perplexed about whom He was speaking. ²³ Now there was reclining on Jesus' bosom one of His disciples, the one whom Jesus loved. ²⁴ Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to inquire who it might be about whom He was speaking. ²⁵ Then, leaning back thus on Jesus' chest, he said to Him, "Lord, who is it?"

²⁰ Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Him with her sons, worshipping Him, and asking something from Him. ²¹ And He said to her, "What do you desire?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right hand and one on Your left, in Your kingdom." ²² But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup which I am about to drink, or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able." ²³ So He said to them, "You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is to those for whom it has been prepared by My Father." ²⁴ And when the ten heard it, they were indignant with the two brothers.

³⁴ But they were silent, for on the road they had discussed with one another who was greater.

³⁷ They said to Him, "Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right side and one on Your left side, in Your glory." ³⁸ But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup which I drink, and to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?" ³⁹ They said to Him, "We are able." So Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink the cup which I drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized you will be baptized with; ⁴⁰ but to sit on My right side and on My left side is not Mine to give, but to those for whom it has been prepared." ⁴¹ And having heard this, the ten began to be indignant with James and John.

⁴⁶ Then a dispute came up among them as to which of them might be greater.

¹⁰ Be warmly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor preferring one another;

⁴ Love is patient, love is kind; love does not envy; love does not boast, is not puffed up;

³ doing nothing according to selfish ambition or conceit, but with humility, regarding one another as being better than yourselves. ⁴ Let each of you look out not only for his own concerns, but also for the concerns of others. ⁵ Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

⁵ Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"? ⁶ But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

⁵ Likewise, younger people, subject yourselves to the elders. And all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility, because "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." ⁶ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,

²⁵ But Jesus, having summoned them, said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. ²⁶ Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, shall be your servant. ²⁷ And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave; ²⁸ just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

⁴¹ And having heard this, the ten began to be indignant with James and John. ⁴² But Jesus, having called them to Himself, said to them, "You know that those being reputed to be ruling the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. ⁴³ Yet it will not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. ⁴⁴ And whoever of you desires to be first shall be servant of all. ⁴⁵ For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

³ and said, "Assuredly I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you shall by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child, he is the greater in the kingdom of heaven. ⁵ And whoever receives one such little child in My name, receives Me.

⁸ "But you, do not be called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brothers. ⁹ Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. ¹¹ But the greatest of you shall be your servant. ¹² And whoever shall exalt himself will be humbled, and whoever shall humble himself will be exalted.

³⁵ And having sat down He called the twelve, and said to them, "If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all."

⁴⁸ and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all shall be great."

² And do not fashion yourselves after this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

³ nor as being masters over the flock under you, but rather being examples to the flock.

⁵ Likewise, younger people, subject yourselves to the elders. And all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility, because "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

⁹ I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves the preeminence over them, does not receive us. ¹⁰ On account of this, if I come, I will call to mind his works which he does, slandering us with evil words. And not being content with that, he does not receive the brothers, and hinders those who desire to, casting them out of the church.

²⁸ just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

⁷ And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come and recline to eat'? ⁸ But will he not say to him, 'Prepare something that I may dine, and gird yourself and serve me until I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink'? ⁹ Does he thank that servant because he did the things having been commanded? I think not.

⁵ Then He poured water into a basin and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to dry them with the towel with which He was girded. ⁶ Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, "Lord, do You wash my feet?" ⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but you shall know after this." ⁸ Peter said to Him, "You shall never wash my feet!" Jesus answered him, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me." ⁹ Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!" ¹⁰ Jesus said to him, "He that is bathed need only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you." ¹¹ For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, "You are not all clean." ¹² So when He had washed their feet, and had taken His garments, He reclined again, and said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord, and you say correctly, for so I am. ¹⁴ Therefore if I, your Lord and your Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I gave you an example, that just as I did to you, you also should do. ¹⁶ Most assuredly I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor a messenger greater than he who sent him.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet on account of you He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

⁷ but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming to be in the likeness of men. ⁸ And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself, becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

²⁸ So Jesus said to them, "Assuredly I say to you, that in the Regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. ²⁹ And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.

¹³ But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?" ⁶⁸ But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

³¹ Then Jesus said to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you abide in My word, truly you are My disciples.

²⁵ "to receive the portion in this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place."

¹⁸ For in that which He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to help those who are tempted.

¹⁵ For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but having been tempted in all respects in quite the same way as we are, yet without sin.

⁴⁷ Assuredly I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his possessions.

³⁴ Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

³² Do not fear, little flock, because your Father is well pleased to give to you the kingdom.

¹⁷ And he said to him, 'Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.'

²⁵ And everyone who competes exercises self-control in all things. Now they compete in order that they may receive a perishable crown, but we compete for an imperishable crown.

⁷ (And our hope concerning you is steadfast); if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation, knowing that as you are partakers of the sufferings, thus also you will partake of the consolation.

¹² If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.

⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers. Did God not choose the poor of the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those that love Him?

⁴ And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

⁹ And the king called Ziba the servant of Saul, and said to him, All that belonged to Saul and to all his house have I given to the son of your lord. ¹⁰ And you, and your sons, and your servants, shall till the land for him; and you shall bring in bread to the son of your lord, and he shall eat bread; and Mephibosheth the son of your lord shall eat bread continually at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

²⁸ For all of my father's house were as dead men before my lord the king; yet you have set your servant among them that eat at your table; and what right have I any longer even to cry to the king?

¹⁴ They have laid them as sheep in Hades; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning, and their help shall fail in Hades from their glory.

¹¹ And I say to you that many shall come from east and west, and recline to eat with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;

²⁸ So Jesus said to them, "Assuredly I say to you, that in the Regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹⁶ for I say to you, that no longer will I eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God." ¹⁷ Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, "Take this and divide it among yourselves; ¹⁸ for I say to you, that I will by no means drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes."

² Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? ³ Do you not know that we will judge angels? Let alone ordinary matters!

²⁶ And he who overcomes, and he who keeps My works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations-- ²⁷ 'And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; they shall be smashed to pieces like clay vessels'--

²¹ He that overcomes, I will grant to him to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

⁴ Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw the twenty-four elders sitting, having been clothed in white robes; and on their heads were crowns of gold.

⁶ And it came to pass one day, that behold, the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came with them. ⁷ And the Lord said to the devil, From where have you come? And the devil answered the Lord and said, I have come from compassing the earth, and walking up and down in the world. ⁸ And the Lord said to him, Have you diligently considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on all the earth, a blameless man, true, godly, abstaining from everything evil? ⁹ Then the devil answered, and said before the Lord, Does Job worship the Lord for nothing? ¹⁰ Have You not made a hedge about him, and about his household, and all his possessions round about? And have You not blessed the works of his hands, and multiplied his substance upon the land? ¹¹ But put forth Your hand, and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face. ¹² Then the Lord said to the devil, Behold, I give all that he has into your hand, but touch not himself. So the devil went out from the presence of the Lord.

¹ And it came to pass on a certain day, that the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came among them to stand before the Lord. ² And the Lord said to the devil, From where have you come? Then the devil said before the Lord, I have come from going throughout the world, and walking about the whole earth. ³ And the Lord said to the devil, Have you then observed My servant Job, that there is none like him upon the earth, a harmless, true, blameless, and godly man; abstaining from all evil? And yet he cleaves to innocence, although you have incited Me to destroy his substance without cause? ⁴ And the devil answered and said to the Lord, Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give as a ransom for his life. ⁵ Ah, but put forth Your hand, and touch his bones and his flesh — surely he will curse You to Your face! ⁶ And the Lord said to the devil, Behold, I deliver him up to you; only save his life.

⁹ For I will give commandment, and sift the house of Israel among all the Gentiles, as grain is sifted in a sieve, and yet a fragment shall by no means fall upon the earth.

¹ And the Lord showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord, and the Devil stood on his right hand to resist him.

⁴¹ And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.

⁴ And falling on the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"

⁸ Be sober, be watchful; your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour.

¹⁰ Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ, because the accuser of our brothers, the one who accused them before our God day and night, has been thrown out of heaven.

³ Because I kept silence, my bones waxed old, from my crying all the day. ⁴ For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; I became thoroughly miserable while a thorn was fastened in me. Pause. ⁵ I acknowledged my sin, and hid not my iniquity; I said, I will confess my iniquity to the Lord; and You forgave the ungodliness of my heart. Pause. ⁶ Therefore shall every holy one pray to You in a fit time; only in the deluge of many waters they shall not come near to Him.

¹² Restore to me the joy of Your salvation; establish me with Your directing Spirit. ¹³ Then will I teach transgressors Your ways; and ungodly men shall turn to You.

² And the Lord said to the Devil, ^(3:3) The Lord rebuke you, O Devil, even the Lord that has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you. Behold, is not this as a brand plucked from the fire? ^{3 (3:4)} Now Joshua was clothed in filthy garments, and stood before the Angel. ^{4 (3:5)} And the Lord answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And He said to him, Behold, I have taken away your iniquities, and clothed you with a long robe,

³ and said, "Assuredly I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you shall by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the word of Jesus which He said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." And going out, he wept bitterly.

⁷² And for the second time a rooster crowed. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, "Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And when he thought about it, he began to weep.

⁷ But go, say to His disciples, and Peter, that He is going before you into Galilee; there you shall see Him, just as He said to you."

¹³ But those on the rock are they that, whenever they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of testing fall away.

⁶¹ And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, "Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." ⁶² And going outside, Peter wept bitterly.

¹⁹ "Yet a little while and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.

⁹ I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. ¹⁰ And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I have been glorified in them. ¹¹ And I am no longer in the world, yet these are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those which You have given Me, that they may be one just as We are.

¹⁵ I do not ask that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. ¹⁶ They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. ¹⁷ Sanctify them by Your truth; Your word is truth. ¹⁸ Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. ¹⁹ And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. ²⁰ "I am not praying for these alone, but also for those who believe in Me through their word; ²¹ so that they all may be one, just as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

¹⁵ So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I care for You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." ¹⁶ He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I care for You." He said to him, "Shepherd My sheep." ¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you care for Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you care for Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I care for You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

¹⁹ Repent therefore and turn back, that your sins may be wiped away, in order that seasons of relaxation may come from the presence of the Lord,

⁹ Much more then, having been justified now by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. ¹⁰ For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

³² He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up on behalf of us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

³⁴ Who is he that condemns? Christ is the One having died, but rather also having been raised, who is even at the right hand of God, who also intercedes on our behalf.

⁴ who comforts us in all our tribulation, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, by means of the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. ⁵ Because just as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. ⁶ Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer.

¹³ I, who was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I was shown mercy because, being ignorant, I did it in unbelief, ¹⁴ and the grace of our Lord superabounded with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Faithful is this word, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first. ¹⁶ However, because of this I was shown mercy, so that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, as a pattern for those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

¹⁸ who have strayed concerning the truth, asserting that the resurrection has already occurred; and they overturn the faith of some.

¹ Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of the elect of God and the full knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,

²⁵ Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those coming to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

¹² Therefore strengthen the hands which are weakened, and the feeble knees, ¹³ and make straight paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be turned aside, but rather be healed.

¹⁵ looking diligently lest anyone fall from the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness growing up cause trouble, and through this many be defiled;

¹ Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the elect sojourners of the Dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

⁵ who by the power of God are being guarded through faith for the salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

¹³ Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, stay sober, put your hope fully in the grace brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

⁸ Be sober, be watchful; your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour. ⁹ Resist him, being steadfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. ¹⁰ But may the God of all grace, the One having called you into His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, may He Himself make you complete--He will establish, strengthen, and firmly ground you.

¹⁰ Therefore, brothers, be even more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for by doing these things you shall by no means stumble at any time. ¹¹ For in this way the entrance will be supplied to you richly into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ¹² Therefore I shall not neglect to constantly remind you concerning these things, although you know and have been established in the present truth.

¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot or blemish;

¹⁷ You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on guard, lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being carried away by the error of the wicked; ¹⁸ but grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

¹ My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if someone should sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. ² And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not only concerning ours, but also concerning those of the whole world.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out in order that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

¹² And Hazael said, Why does my lord weep? And he said, Because I know all the evil that you will do to the children of Israel: you will utterly destroy their strongholds with fire, and you will slay their choice men with the sword, and you will dash their infants against the ground, and their women with child you will rip up. ¹³ And Hazael said, Who is your servant? A dead dog, that he should do this thing? And Elisha said, The Lord has shown me that you shall rule over Syria.

²⁶ He that trusts to a bold heart, such a one is a fool: but he that walks in wisdom shall be safe.

²³ I know, O Lord, that man's way is not his own; neither shall a man go, and direct his going.

⁹ The heart is deep beyond all things, and it constitutes the man, and who can know him?

²² But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup which I am about to drink, or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."

³³ Peter answered and said to Him, "Even if all are made to stumble because of You, yet I will never be made to stumble." ³⁴ Jesus said to him, "Assuredly I say to you that on this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." ³⁵ Peter said to Him, "Even if I have to die with You, by no means will I deny You!" And likewise said all the disciples.

⁴⁰ Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What? Were you not strong enough to watch with Me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Indeed the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

²⁹ But Peter said to Him, "Even if all will be made to stumble, yet not I."

³¹ But he kept saying all the more profusely, "If it is necessary for me to die with You, by no means will I deny You!" And they all said likewise.

³⁷ Then He came and found them sleeping, and He said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Were you not strong enough to watch one hour? ³⁸ Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Indeed the spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak."

³⁶ Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, where are You going?" Jesus answered him, "Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but later you will follow Me." ³⁷ Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for You."

²³ except that the Holy Spirit in every city is solemnly bearing witness, saying that bonds and tribulations are waiting for me. ²⁴ But I count myself as nothing; nor do I regard my life as valuable to myself, so that I may complete my course with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to bear solemn testimony to the gospel of the grace of God.

¹³ Then Paul answered, "What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, in behalf of the name of the Lord Jesus."

³⁴ Jesus said to him, "Assuredly I say to you that on this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times."

⁷⁴ Then he began to curse and swear, saying, "I do not know the Man!" And immediately a rooster crowed.

³⁰ Jesus said to him, "Assuredly I say to you, that you, today on this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times."

⁷¹ Then he began to curse and to swear, "I do not know this Man whom you are speaking of" ⁷² And for the second time a rooster crowed. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, "Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And when he thought about it, he began to weep.

³⁸ Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for Me? Most assuredly I say to you, the rooster shall by no means crow till you deny Me three times.

²⁷ Peter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed.

¹⁵ And he blessed them and said, The God in whose sight my fathers were well pleasing, even Abraham and Isaac, the God who continues to feed me from my youth until this day;

² And you shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you in the wilderness, that He might afflict you, and try you, and that the things in your heart might be made manifest, whether you would keep His commandments or not. ³ And He afflicted you and straitened you with hunger, and fed you with manna, which your fathers knew not; that He might teach you that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God shall man live.

¹⁶ who fed you with manna in the wilderness, which you knew not, and your fathers knew not; that He might afflict you, and thoroughly test you, and do you good in your latter days.

¹ A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

⁹ Fear the Lord, all you His saints; for there is no lack to them that fear Him. ¹⁰ The rich have become poor and hungry; but they that seek the Lord diligently shall not lack any good thing. Pause.

³ Hope in the Lord, and do good; and dwell on the land, and you shall be fed with the wealth of it.

³¹ Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we put on?' ³² "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. ³³ But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

⁹ Do not acquire gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, ¹⁰ not a knapsack for the road, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food.

⁸ He commanded them that they should take nothing for the journey except a staff, only--no knapsack, no bread, nor a copper coin for their money belts-- ⁹ but to go having put on sandals, and not to put on two tunics.

³ And He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor knapsack nor bread nor silver; and do not have two tunics apiece.

⁴ Do not carry a money bag, nor a knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road.

²⁹ And do not seek what you may eat or what you may drink, and do not be anxious. ³⁰ For all these things the nations of the world seek after, but your Father knows that you need these things. ³¹ But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.

²² And you will be hated by all people for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. ²³ But whenever they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly I say to you, by no means will you have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes. ²⁴ A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. ²⁵ It is enough for a disciple that he become like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call his household members!

²⁰ Remember the word which I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but have courage, I have overcome the world."

¹⁴ For you, brothers, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus, because you suffered the same things from your fellow countrymen, just as also they did by the Jews, ¹⁵ who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God and are against all men,

⁴ For even when we were with you, we were telling you in advance that we were going to be afflicted, just as it also happened, and you know.

¹ Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same mind, because he who suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

¹² Therefore He shall inherit many, and He shall divide the spoils of the mighty; because His soul was delivered to death; and He was numbered among the transgressors; and He bore the sins of many, and was delivered up because of their transgressions.

⁵⁴ How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?" ⁵⁵ In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to arrest Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me. ⁵⁶ But all this has happened so that the Scriptures of the prophets may be fulfilled." Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.

²⁷ And together with Him they crucified two bandits, one on His right side and the one on His left.

³¹ Then taking the twelve aside, He said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished.

²² And indeed the Son of Man goes according to what is determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!"

³² And they also were leading two others with Him, evildoers, to be put to death.

⁴⁴ Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me." ⁴⁵ And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. ⁴⁶ Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

³⁵ If He called those gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),

⁴ I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.

²⁸ After this, Jesus, seeing that all things already had been fulfilled, so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, "I thirst!" ²⁹ Now a vessel was set full of sour wine; and they, having filled a sponge with sour wine, put it around a hyssop, they held it to His mouth. ³⁰ Therefore when Jesus received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

²⁷ For those dwelling in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor the voices of the Prophets which are being read according to each Sabbath, condemning him, they fulfilled the Scriptures. ²⁸ And finding no cause for death, they asked Pilate that He be executed. ²⁹ And when they finished all the things having been written about Him, taking Him down from the tree, they put Him in a tomb.

²¹ For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"

⁵² But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword shall perish by the sword.

⁴⁹ And those around Him, seeing what was about to happen, they said to Him, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?"

³⁶ Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I might not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here."

³ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. ⁴ For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty by God to the pulling down of strongholds,

¹⁰ Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. ¹¹ Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the stratagems of the devil. ¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies. ¹³ Because of this, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having accomplished all things, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; ¹⁸ through every prayer and petition, praying in every season in the Spirit, being watchful to this same thing with all perseverance and petition concerning all the saints--

⁸ But we, since we are of the day, let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. ⁹ Resist him, being steadfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

¹ Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethsphage, towards the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

³⁰ And having sung hymns, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

³⁶ Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, "Sit here while I go off and pray over there." ³⁷ And taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. ³⁸ Then Jesus said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death. Stay here and watch with Me."

¹¹ And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple. And having looked around at all things, the hour already being late, He went out to Bethany with the twelve.

¹⁹ And when it became evening, He was going forth outside of the city.

³ And He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately,

²⁶ And having sung hymns, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

³² And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, "Sit here while I pray." ³³ And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be greatly amazed, and deeply depressed. ³⁴ Then He said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved to the point of death. Remain here and watch."

³⁷ And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet.

¹ After saying these things, Jesus went out with His disciples across the winter stream Kidron, where there was a garden, into which He and His disciples entered. ² Now Judas, the one betraying Him, also knew the place, because Jesus often gathered there also with His disciples.

¹⁰ And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, O that You would indeed bless me, and enlarge my coasts, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would make me know that You will not grieve me! And God granted him all that he asked.

⁵ Direct my steps in Your paths, that my steps slip not.

¹³ And spare Your servant from the attack of strangers; if they do not gain the dominion over me, then shall I be blameless, and I shall be clear from great sin.

¹¹⁶ Uphold me according to Your word, and revive me; and make me not ashamed of my hope. ¹¹⁷ Help me, and I shall be saved; and I will meditate on Your statutes continually.

¹³³ Order my steps according to Your word; and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

⁸ Remove vanity and falsehood far from me, and give me neither wealth nor poverty, but appoint to me what is needful and sufficient: ⁹ lest I be filled and become false, and say, Who sees me? Or be poor and steal, and swear vainly by the name of God.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Were you not strong enough to watch with Me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Indeed the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." ⁴² Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, let Your will be done." ⁴³ And He came and found them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy. ⁴⁴ And leaving them, He went away again, and prayed a third time, saying the same words. ⁴⁵ Then He came to His disciples and said to them, "Sleep now, and rest. Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴⁶ Rise up, let us be going. See, he who betrays Me is at hand."

Remain here and watch." ³⁵ And having gone forward a little, He fell on the ground, and He was praying, that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. ³⁶ And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will." ³⁷ Then He came and found them sleeping, and He said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Were you not strong enough to watch one hour? ³⁸ Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Indeed the spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak." ³⁹ And He went away again and He prayed, saying the same thing. ⁴⁰ And having returned, He found them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what they should answer Him. ⁴¹ Then He came the third time and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough! The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴² Rise up, let us go. See, the one who betrays Me is at hand."

⁴ And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."

⁴⁶ Then He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise up and pray, lest you enter into temptation."

⁷ And lest I exalt myself above measure by the excellence of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, an angel of Satan, that it might beat me, lest I exalt myself above measure. ⁸ Concerning this I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. ⁹ And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in calamities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

¹⁸ through every prayer and petition, praying in every season in the Spirit, being watchful to this same thing with all perseverance and petition concerning all the saints-- ¹⁹ and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, in the opening of my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,

⁷ Now the end of all things is at hand; therefore be of sound mind and self-controlled in your prayers.

¹⁰ Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of testing which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those that dwell upon the earth.

³⁹ He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will."

³⁵ And having gone forward a little, He fell on the ground, and He was praying, that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men--swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

⁸ I desired to do Your will, O my God, and Your law in the midst of my heart.

¹⁷ Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, that have drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of His fury; for you have drunk out and drained the cup of calamity, the cup of wrath;

²² thus says the Lord God that judges His people: Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of calamity, the cup of My wrath; and you shall not drink it anymore.

¹⁵ Thus said the Lord God of Israel: Take the cup of this unmixed wine from My hand, and you shall cause all the nations to drink, to whom I send you.

⁴² Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, let Your will be done."

⁴⁴ And leaving them, He went away again, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.

³⁶ And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will."

¹⁷ Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, "Take this and divide it among yourselves; ¹⁸ for I say to you, that I will by no means drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes." ¹⁹ And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." ²⁰ Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

³⁰ I can of My own self do nothing. Even as I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

³⁸ For I have come down from heaven, not that I might do My will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

²⁷ "Now My soul has been troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this reason I came to this hour. ²⁸ Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came out of heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it and will glorify it again."

¹¹ Then Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?"

²⁸ And command Joshua, and strengthen him, and encourage him; for he shall go before the face of this people, and he shall give them the inheritance of all the land which you have seen.

³ For seeing you have instructed many, and have strengthened the hands of the weak one, ⁴ and have supported the failing with words, and have imparted courage to feeble knees.

¹¹ For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. ¹² They shall bear you up on their hands, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone.

¹⁶ And behold, as it were the likeness of a son of man touched my lips; and I opened my mouth, and spoke, and said to him that stood before me, O my lord, at the sight of you my insides were turned within me, and I had no strength. ¹⁷ And how shall your servant be able, O my lord, to speak with this my lord? And as for me, from now on strength will not remain in me, and there is no breath left in me. ¹⁸ And there touched me again as it were the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me, ¹⁹ and said to me, Fear not, man greatly beloved: peace be to you, gird yourself like a man, and be strong. And when he had spoken with me, I received strength, and said, Let my lord speak; for you have strengthened me.

¹ And I, in the first year of Cyrus, stood to strengthen and confirm him.

⁶ and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: 'He shall give His angels orders concerning you,' and, 'In their hands they will lift you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.' "

¹¹ Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

⁵³ Or do you think that I cannot now call upon My Father, and He will furnish Me with more than twelve legions of angels?

¹⁰ For it is written: 'He shall give His angels charge over You, to guard You,' ¹¹ "and, 'In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.' "

³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."

²³ After having spent some time there, he went out, going through in order the Galatian region and the Phrygian region, strengthening all the disciples.

¹⁶ And confessedly, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, and was received up in glory.

⁶ But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: "Let all the angels of God worship Him."

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits being sent out to minister for the sake of those who are about to inherit salvation?

¹⁷ Therefore He was obligated to become like His brothers in all respects, in order that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, in order that He might make propitiation for the sins of the people.

²⁴ And Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him till the morning. ²⁵ And He saw that He prevailed not against him; and He touched the broad part of his thigh, and the broad part of Jacob's thigh was numbed in his wrestling with Him. ²⁶ And He said to him, Let Me go, for the day has dawned; but he said, I will not let You go, except You bless me. ²⁷ And He said to him, What is your name? And he answered, Jacob. ²⁸ And He said to him, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name; for you have prevailed with God, and shall be mighty with men.

¹ For the end, concerning the morning aid, A Psalm of David. O God, my God, attend to me; why have You forsaken me? The account of my transgressions is far from my salvation. ² O my God, I will cry to You by day, but You will not hear; and by night, and it shall not be reckoned to me as folly.

¹² Many bulls have compassed Me; fat bulls have beset Me round about. ¹³ They have opened their mouth against Me, as a ravening and roaring lion. ¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all My bones are loosened; My heart in the midst of My belly has become like melting wax. ¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and My tongue is glued to My throat; and You have brought Me down to the dust of death. ¹⁶ For many dogs have compassed Me; the assembly of the evildoers has enclosed Me; they pierced My hands and My feet. ¹⁷ They counted all My bones; and they observed and looked upon Me. ¹⁸ They parted My garments among themselves, and cast lots for My clothing. ¹⁹ But You, O Lord, be not far from Me; be ready for My aid. ²⁰ Deliver My soul from the sword; My only begotten soul from the power of the dog. ²¹ Save Me from the lion's mouth; and regard My lowliness from the horns of the unicorns.

¹ For the end, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the Lord; and He attended to me, and hearkened to my supplication. ² And He brought me up out of a pit of misery, and from miry clay; and He set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. ³ And He put a new song into my mouth, even a hymn to our God; many shall see it and fear, and shall hope in the Lord.

¹⁴ Save me from the mire, that I stick not in it; let me be delivered from them that hate me, and from the deep waters. ¹⁵ Let not the floodwater drown me, nor let the deep swallow me up; neither let the well shut its mouth upon me. ¹⁶ Hear me, O Lord; for Your mercy is good: according to the multitude of Your compassions, look upon me. ¹⁷ And turn not away Your face from Your servant; for I am afflicted; hear me speedily. ¹⁸ Draw near to my soul and redeem it: deliver me because of my enemies.

¹ A song of a Psalm for the sons of Korah for the end, upon Mahaleth for responsive strains, of instruction for Heman the Israelite. O Lord God of my salvation, I have cried by day and in the night before You. ² Let my prayer come in before You; incline Your ear to my supplication, O Lord. ³ For my soul is filled with troubles, and my life has drawn near to Hades. ⁴ I have been reckoned with them that go down to the pit; I became as a man without help; ⁵ free among the dead, as the slain ones cast out, who sleep in the tomb; whom You remember no more; and they are rejected from Your hand. ⁶ They laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, and in the shadow of death. ⁷ Your wrath has pressed heavily upon me, and You have brought upon me all Your billows. ¹ A Song of Degrees. Out of the depths have I cried to You, O Lord. ² O Lord, hearken to my voice; let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.

⁶ I spread forth my hands to You; my soul thirsts for You, as a dry land. Pause. ⁷ Hear me speedily, O Lord; my spirit has failed; do not hide Your face from me, lest I be like them that go down to the pit.

¹⁰ The Lord also is pleased to purge Him from His stroke. If you give an offering for sin, Your soul shall see a long-lived seed;

¹² ( { μ}) LAMED. All you that pass by the way, turn, and see if there is sorrow likened to my sorrow, which has happened to me. The Lord who spoke by me has afflicted me in the day of His fierce anger.

⁵³ and laid a stone upon me. ⁵⁴ Water flowed over my head: I said, I am cut off. ⁵⁵ ( { χ}) KOPH. I called upon Your name, O Lord, out of the lowest dungeon. ⁵⁶ You heard my voice; close not Your ears to my supplication.

^{2 (2:3)} and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God, and He hearkened unto me, even to my cry out of the belly of hell: You heard my voice. ^{3 (2:4)} For You have cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea, and the floods compassed me: all Your billows and Your waves have passed upon me.

²⁷ "Now My soul has been troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this reason I came to this hour.

⁷ who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up both prayers and supplications, with strong crying and tears to the One who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His fear of God,

⁴⁰ Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What? Were you not strong enough to watch with Me one hour?

⁴³ And He came and found them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy.

³⁷ Then He came and found them sleeping, and He said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Were you not strong enough to watch one hour?

⁴⁰ And having returned, He found them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what they should answer Him. ⁴¹ Then He came the third time and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough! The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

⁴ Give not sleep to your eyes, nor slumber with your eyelids; ⁵ that you may deliver yourself as a doe out of the toils, and as a bird out of a snare. ⁶ Go to the ant, O sluggard; and see, and emulate his ways, and become wiser than he. ⁷ For whereas he has no leader, nor anyone to compel him, and is under no master, ⁸ he prepares food for himself in the summer, and lays up abundant supplies in harvest. ^(6:8A) Or go to the bee, and learn how diligent she is, and how earnestly she is engaged in her work; ^(6:8B) whose labors kings and private men use for health, and she is desired and respected by all: ^(6:8C) though weak in body, she is advanced by honoring wisdom. ⁹ How long will you lie, O sluggard? And when will you awake out of sleep? ¹⁰ You sleep a little, and you rest a little, and you slumber a short time, and you fold your arms over your breast a little. ¹¹ Then poverty comes upon you as an evil traveler, and your need as a swift courier. ^(6:11A) But if you be diligent, your harvest shall arrive as a fountain, and poverty shall flee away as a bad courier.

⁶ And the shipmaster came to him, and said to him, Why do you snore? Arise, and call upon your God, that God may save us, and we perish not.

³⁴ "But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and worries of life, and that Day come upon you unexpectedly. ³⁵ For it will come as a snare on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ Watch therefore, praying always that you may be counted worthy to escape everything that is about to happen, and to stand before the Son of Man."

⁴⁰ And having come to the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."

⁴⁵ Then He came to His disciples and said to them, "Sleep now, and rest. Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴⁶ Rise up, let us be going. See, he who betrays Me is at hand." ⁴⁷ And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve came, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people. ⁴⁸ Now the one betraying Him had given them a sign, saying, "Whomever I shall kiss, He is the One; seize Him." ⁴⁹ And immediately he went up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed Him. ⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?" Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him. ⁵¹ And behold, one of those with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and striking the servant of the high priest, he cut off his ear. ⁵² But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword shall perish by the sword. ⁵³ Or do you think that I cannot now call upon My Father, and He will furnish Me with more than twelve legions of angels?

¹⁰ Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went off to the chief priests to betray Him to them.

⁴¹ Then He came the third time and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough! The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴² Rise up, let us go. See, the one who betrays Me is at hand." ⁴³ And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas arrived, being one of the twelve, and with him a large crowd with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. ⁴⁴ Now His betrayer had given to them a sign, saying, "Whomever I shall kiss, He is the One; take Him and lead Him away safely." ⁴⁵ And when he arrived, immediately he approached Him and said to Him, "Rabbi, Rabbi!" and he affectionately kissed Him. ⁴⁶ Then they laid their hands on Him and seized Him. ⁴⁷ But a certain one of those standing by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. ⁴⁸ Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Have you come out, as against a bandit, with swords and clubs to arrest Me? ⁴⁹ Daily I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me. But that the Scriptures may be fulfilled." ⁵⁰ Then they all forsook Him and fled.

³ Then Satan entered into Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. ⁴ And he went off and spoke with the chief priests and captains about how he might betray Him to them. ⁵ And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. ⁶ And he promised, and was seeking an opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the crowd.

² Now Judas, the one betraying Him, also knew the place, because Jesus often gathered there also with His disciples. ³ Then Judas, having taken the detachment of soldiers, and attendants from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. ⁴ Jesus therefore, knowing all things coming upon Him, went out and said to them, "Whom do you seek?" ⁵ They answered Him, "Jesus the Nazarene." Jesus said to them, "I AM." And Judas, the one betraying Him, was standing with them. ⁶ Therefore when He said to them, "I AM," they stepped back and fell to the ground. ⁷ Then He asked them again, "Whom do you seek?" And they said, "Jesus the Nazarene." ⁸ Jesus answered, "I have told you that I AM! Therefore if you seek Me, allow these men to go," ⁹ so that the word might be fulfilled which He said, "Those whom You have given Me I have lost none." ¹⁰ Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And the servant's name was Malchus. ¹¹ Then Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?"

¹⁶ Men, brothers; it was necessary for this Scripture to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; ¹⁷ for he was numbered with us and obtained a portion in this ministry." ¹⁸ (Now this man purchased a field by means of the wages of his unrighteousness, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.

⁹ And Joab said to Amasa, Are you in health, my brother? And the right hand of Joab took hold of the beard of Amasa to kiss him. ¹⁰ And Amasa observed not the dagger that was in the hand of Joab. And Joab struck him with it on the loins, and his bowels were shed out upon the ground, and he did not repeat the blow, and he died. And Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.

²¹ They were scattered at the anger of His countenance, and his heart drew near to them. His words were smoother than oil, yet they are darts.

⁶ The wounds of a friend are more to be trusted than the spontaneous kisses of an enemy.

⁴⁸ Now the one betraying Him had given them a sign, saying, "Whomever I shall kiss, He is the One; seize Him." ⁴⁹ And immediately he went up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed Him. ⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?" Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him.

⁴⁴ Now His betrayer had given to them a sign, saying, "Whomever I shall kiss, He is the One; take Him and lead Him away safely." ⁴⁵ And when he arrived, immediately he approached Him and said to Him, "Rabbi, Rabbi!" and he affectionately kissed Him. ⁴⁶ Then they laid their hands on Him and seized Him.

³⁸ So they said, "Lord, look, here are two swords." And He said to them, "It is enough."

⁵¹ And behold, one of those with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and striking the servant of the high priest, he cut off his ear.

⁴⁷ But a certain one of those standing by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

¹⁹ Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.

⁴ For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty by God to the pulling down of strongholds,

⁸ Jesus answered, "I have told you that I AM! Therefore if you seek Me, allow these men to go," ⁹ so that the word might be fulfilled which He said, "Those whom You have given Me I have lost none."

²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹ Now I, Paul, myself appeal to you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I who face to face am lowly among you, but when I am away am bold toward you.

²¹ For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving behind an example for you, that you should follow in His footsteps, ²² "Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth"; ²³ who, being verbally abused, did not return verbal insults, when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

¹⁵ And Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds who were over the army, and said to them, Take her outside under guard, and he that goes in after her shall certainly die by the sword. For the priest said, Let her not, however, be slain in the house of the Lord.

⁵⁵ In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to arrest Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me.

⁴⁸ Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Have you come out, as against a bandit, with swords and clubs to arrest Me? ⁴⁹ Daily I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me. But that the Scriptures may be fulfilled."

⁴ And he went off and spoke with the chief priests and captains about how he might betray Him to them.

²¹ And the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he became a grinder in the prison house. ²² And the hair of his head began to grow as before it was shaven. ²³ And the chiefs of the Philistines met to offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon, and to make merry. And they said, our god has given into our hand our enemy Sampson. ²⁴ And the people saw him, and sang praises to their god; for our god, they said, has delivered into our hand our enemy, who wasted our land, and who multiplied our slain. ²⁵ And when their heart was merry, then they said, Call Sampson out of the prison house, and let him play before us. And they called Sampson out of the prison house, and he played before them; and they struck him with the palms of their hands, and set him between the pillars. ²⁶ And Sampson said to the young man that held his hand, Allow me to feel the pillars on which the house rests, and I will lean myself upon them. ²⁷ And the house was full of men and women, and there were all the chiefs of the Philistines, and on the roof were about three thousand men and women looking at the sports of Sampson. ²⁸ And Sampson wept before the Lord, and said, O Lord, my Lord, remember me, I pray, and strengthen me, O God, just this once, and I will be avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes. ²⁹ And Sampson took hold of the two pillars on which the house stood, and leaned on them, and laid hold of one with his right hand, and the other with his left. ³⁰ And Sampson said, Let my wife perish with the Philistines. And he bowed himself mightily; and the house fell upon the princes, and upon all the people that were in it. And the dead whom Sampson slew in his death were more than those whom he slew in his life.

⁵ But the mirth of the ungodly is a signal downfall, and the joy of transgressors is destruction:

¹² Then Jesus went into the temple of God and He cast out all those buying and selling in the temple, and He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. ¹³ And He said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves.'" ¹⁴ Then the lame and the blind came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. ¹⁵ But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonders which He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they became indignant

²³ Now as He came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people confronted Him as He was teaching, and said, "By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority?"

³⁷ And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet. ³⁸ Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.

²⁵ Therefore some of people of Jerusalem were saying, "Is this not He whom they are seeking to kill? ²⁶ And look! He is speaking publicly, and they say nothing to Him. Can it be that the rulers know indeed that this is truly the Christ?

³⁰ Therefore they were seeking to arrest Him; but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.

⁴⁵ Then the attendants came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why did you not bring Him?"

³⁰ I will no longer speak many things with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.

²⁰ Most assuredly I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be grieved, but your grief will be turned into joy. ²¹ A woman, whenever she gives birth, has sorrow, because her hour has come; but whenever the child is born, she no longer remembers the anguish, on account of the joy that a human being has been born into the world. ²² Therefore you also now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of Satan to God, in order for them to receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'

³ But even if our gospel is hidden, it is hidden among those who are perishing, ⁴ among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine on them. ⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ Because it is God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ, because the accuser of our brothers, the one who accused them before our God day and night, has been thrown out of heaven. ¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. ¹² Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the earth and to the sea! Because the devil was thrown down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has but a short time."

³¹ Notwithstanding, in regard to the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who were sent to him, to inquire of him concerning the wonders which came upon the land, the Lord left him, to test him, to know what was in his heart.

⁵⁷ And those having seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. ⁵⁸ But Peter was following Him from a distance, up to the courtyard of the high priest. And entering inside, he sat down with the attendants to see the end.

⁵³ And they led Jesus away to the high priest; and with him were assembled all the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes. ⁵⁴ But Peter followed Him from a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest, and he was sitting together with the attendants and warming himself at the fire.

³³ But he said to Him, "Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death." ³⁴ Then He said, "I say to you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me."

¹² Then the detachment of soldiers and the captain and the attendants of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him. ¹³ And they led Him away to Annas first, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas who was high priest that year. ¹⁴ Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was profitable for one man to perish for the people. ¹⁵ And Simon Peter was following Jesus, as was the other disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest. ¹⁶ But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in. ¹⁷ Then the servant girl who kept the door said to Peter, "You are not also one of this Man's disciples, are you?" He said, "I am not."

²⁴ Then Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.

¹ Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of evil men.

⁴ I have not sat with the council of vanity, and shall by no means enter in with transgressors. ⁵ I have hated the assembly of evildoers; and will not sit with the ungodly.

³ Draw not away my soul with sinners, and destroy me not with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace with their neighbors, but evil are in their hearts.

⁶ Forsake folly, that you may reign forever; and seek wisdom, and improve understanding by knowledge.

²⁰ If you walk with wise men you shall be wise, but he that walks with fools shall be known.

³ Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were assembled into the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

⁶⁹ Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee." ⁷⁰ But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are saying." ⁷¹ And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to them there, "This man was with Jesus the Nazarene." ⁷² But again he denied with an oath, "I do not know the Man!" ⁷³ And after a little while, those standing by came up and said to Peter, "Surely you also are one of them, for your accent gives you away." ⁷⁴ Then he began to curse and swear, saying, "I do not know the Man!" And immediately a rooster crowed. ⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the word of Jesus which He said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." And going out, he wept bitterly.

⁶⁶ Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came. ⁶⁷ And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus the Nazarene." ⁶⁸ But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are saying." And he went outside into the forecourt, and a rooster crowed. ⁶⁹ And the servant girl seeing him again, began to say to those standing by, "This man is one of them." ⁷⁰ But again he was denying it. And a little later those who were standing by said to Peter again, "Truly you are one of them; for you are also a Galilean, and your accent is like theirs."

⁴⁴ And being in agony, He prayed more fervently. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down onto the ground.

¹⁶ But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in. ¹⁷ Then the servant girl who kept the door said to Peter, "You are not also one of this Man's disciples, are you?" He said, "I am not." ¹⁸ And the servants and attendants who had made a fire of coals stood there, for it was cold, and they were warming themselves. Now Peter was standing with them and warming himself.

²⁵ Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. Therefore they said to him, "You are not also one of His disciples, are you?" Then he denied it and said, "I am not!" ²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with Him?" ²⁷ Peter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed.

³³ Do not be deceived: "Evil associations corrupts good habits."

¹⁵ And what agreement is there for Christ with Belial? Or what part is there for a believer with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what union is there for the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, just as God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." ¹⁷ Therefore "Come out from the midst of them and be separated," says the Lord. "Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you."

⁶⁹ Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee."

⁶ But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has worked a beautiful work for Me.

⁶⁶ Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came. ⁶⁷ And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus the Nazarene." ⁶⁸ But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are saying." And he went outside into the forecourt, and a rooster crowed.

¹⁷ Then the servant girl who kept the door said to Peter, "You are not also one of this Man's disciples, are you?" He said, "I am not."

³³ But whoever denies Me before men, I also will deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

⁷⁰ But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are saying."

⁹ But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

²⁵ Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. Therefore they said to him, "You are not also one of His disciples, are you?" Then he denied it and said, "I am not!"

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you indeed delivered up and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him. ¹⁴ But you denied the Holy and Just One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

¹⁰ Because of this, I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. ¹¹ Faithful is this word: For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. ¹² If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.

⁹ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

⁷¹ And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to them there, "This man was with Jesus the Nazarene." ⁷² But again he denied with an oath, "I do not know the Man!"

⁶⁹ And the servant girl seeing him again, began to say to those standing by, "This man is one of them." ⁷⁰ But again he was denying it. And a little later those who were standing by said to Peter again, "Truly you are one of them; for you are also a Galilean, and your accent is like theirs."

⁷³ And after a little while, those standing by came up and said to Peter, "Surely you also are one of them, for your accent gives you away." ⁷⁴ Then he began to curse and swear, saying, "I do not know the Man!" And immediately a rooster crowed.

³⁴ Then He said, "I say to you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me."

²⁷ Even then a man shall blame himself, saying, What kind of things have I done? And He has not punished me according to the full amount of my sins.

¹⁵ Thus says the Most High, who dwells on high forever, Holy in the holies is His name, the Most High resting in the holies, and giving patience to the faint-hearted, and giving life to the broken-hearted; ¹⁶ I will not take vengeance on you forever, neither will I be always angry with you; for My Spirit shall go forth from Me, and I have created all breath. ¹⁷ On account of sin for a little while I grieved him and struck him, and turned away My face from him; and he was grieved, and he went on sorrowful in his ways. ¹⁸ I have seen his ways, and healed him, and comforted him, and given him true comfort;

¹⁸ I have heard the sound of Ephraim lamenting, and saying, You have chastened me, and I was chastened; I as a calf was not willingly taught: turn me, and I shall turn; for You are the Lord my God. ¹⁹ For after my captivity I repented, and after I knew, I groaned for the day of shame, and showed You that I bore reproach from my youth. ²⁰ Ephraim is a beloved son, a pleasing child to Me: for because My words are in him, I will surely remember him. Therefore I made haste to help him. I will surely have mercy upon him, says the Lord.

⁶³ that you may remember, and be ashamed, and may no more be able to open your mouth for your shame, when I am reconciled to you for all that you have done, says the Lord.

³¹ And you shall remember your evil ways and your practices that were not good, and you shall be hateful in your own sight for your transgressions and for your abominations. ³² Not for your sakes do I do this, says the Lord God, as it is known to you; be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

⁸ How shall I deal with you, O Ephraim? How shall I protect you, O Israel? What shall I do with you? I will make you as Adamah, and as Zeboiim; My heart is turned at once, My repentance is powerfully excited.

³⁰ And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, He turned in the crowd and said, "Who touched My clothes?"

¹³ When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, "Do not weep."

³¹ Him God has exalted to His right hand as Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

¹¹ Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh--who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made by hands in the flesh--

⁵ Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works; but if not, I am coming to you quickly and I will remove your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent.

¹⁸ For I will declare my iniquity, and be distressed for my sin.

⁵ They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. ⁶ They went on and wept as they cast their seeds; but they shall surely come with exaltation, bringing their sheaves with them.

¹ A Song of Degrees. Out of the depths have I cried to You, O Lord. ² O Lord, hearken to my voice; let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication. ³ If You, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? ⁴ For with You is forgiveness;

¹ A Psalm of David, when his son pursued him. O Lord, attend to my prayer; hearken to my supplication in Your truth; hear me in Your righteousness. ² And enter not into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight shall no man living be justified. ³ For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has brought my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in a dark place, as those that have been long dead. ⁴ Therefore my spirit was grieved in me; my heart was troubled within me.

¹⁸ I have heard the sound of Ephraim lamenting, and saying, You have chastened me, and I was chastened; I as a calf was not willingly taught: turn me, and I shall turn; for You are the Lord my God.

¹⁶ But they that escape among them shall be delivered, and shall be upon the mountains, and I will slay all the rest, everyone for his iniquities.

¹⁰ And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and compassion: and they shall look upon Me, because they have mocked Me, and they shall make lamentation for Him, as for a beloved friend, and they shall grieve intensely, as for a firstborn son.

⁴ Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

¹² So then, let him who thinks he stands take heed, lest he should fall!

⁹ Now I rejoice, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led to repentance; for you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. ¹⁰ For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, without regret; but worldly sorrow produces death. ¹¹ For behold this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner, how much diligence it produced in you, even an eagerness to defend, even indignation, even fear, even longing, even zeal, even vengeance! In all things you demonstrated yourselves to be pure in this matter.

^{9 (16:10)} In His anger He has cast me down; He has gnashed His teeth upon me: the weapons of His robbers have fallen upon me. ^{10 (16:11)} He has attacked me with the keen glances of His eyes; with His sharp spear He has struck me down upon my knees, and they have run upon me with one accord.

⁹ But now I am their music, and they have me for a byword. ¹⁰ And they stood aloof and abhorred me, and spared not to spit in my face. ¹¹ For He has opened His quiver and afflicted me: they also have cast off the restraint of my presence. ¹² They have risen up against me on the right hand of their offspring; they have stretched out their foot, and directed against me the ways of their destruction. ¹³ My paths are ruined, for they have stripped off my raiment: He has shot at me with His weapons. ¹⁴ And He has pleaded against me as He wills — I am overwhelmed with pains.

⁶ But I am a worm, and not a man; a reproach of men, and the scorn of the people. ⁷ All that saw Me mocked Me; they spoke with their lips, they shook the head, saying,

¹³ They have opened their mouth against Me, as a ravening and roaring lion.

¹⁵ Yet they rejoiced against me, and plagues were plentifully brought against me, and I knew it not; they were scattered, but repented not. ¹⁶ They tempted me, they sneered at me most contemptuously, they gnashed their teeth upon me.

²⁵ Let them not say in their hearts, Aha, aha, it is pleasing to our soul; neither let them say, We have devoured him.

⁷ For I have suffered reproach for Your sake; shame has covered my face. ⁸ I became strange to my brethren, and a stranger to my mother's children. ⁹ For the zeal of Your house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached You have fallen upon me. ¹⁰ And I bowed down my soul with fasting, and that was made my reproach. ¹¹ And I put on sackcloth for my covering; and I became a proverb to them. ¹² Those that sit in the gate talked against me, and those that drank wine sang against me.

⁷ Thus says the Lord that delivered you, the God of Israel, Sanctify him that despises his life, him that is abhorred by the nations that are the servants of princes; kings shall behold him, and princes shall arise, and shall worship him, for the Lord's sake; for the Holy One of Israel is faithful, and I have chosen you.

⁶ I gave my back to scourges, and my cheeks to blows; and I turned not away my face from the shame of spitting; ⁷ but the Lord God became my helper; therefore I was not ashamed, but I set my face as a solid rock; and I know that I shall never be ashamed,

¹⁴ As many shall be amazed at You, so shall Your face be without glory from men, and Your glory shall not be honored by the sons of men.

³ But His form was ignoble, and inferior to that of the children of men; He was a man in suffering, and acquainted with the bearing of sickness, for His face has turned from us; He was dishonored, and not esteemed.

¹ Now shall the daughter of Zion be completely hedged in: he has laid siege against us: they shall smite the tribes of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

⁵⁹ Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the Sanhedrin were seeking false witnesses against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death, ⁶⁰ and they did not find any. And though many false witnesses came forward, they did not find any. But at last two false witnesses came forward ⁶¹ and said, "This Man said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and after three days to rebuild it.' " ⁶² And standing up the high priest said to Him, "Do You answer nothing? What is it these men are testifying against You?" ⁶³ But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I adjure You by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!" ⁶⁴ Jesus said to him, "You said it. Nevertheless, I say to you, from now on, you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven." ⁶⁵ Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, "He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! ⁶⁶ What do you think?" They answered and said, "He is deserving of death." ⁶⁷ Then they spat in His face, and beat Him with their fists; and they slapped Him, ⁶⁸ saying, "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is he that struck You?"

²⁸ And having stripped Him, they put a scarlet robe on Him. ²⁹ When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And kneeling before Him, they mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" ³⁰ And spitting on Him, they took the reed and were striking Him on His head. ³¹ And when they had mocked Him, they stripped Him of the robe, and dressed Him in His own clothes, and led Him away in order to crucify Him.

³⁹ And those passing by were blaspheming Him, shaking their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, "You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross." ⁴¹ Likewise the chief priests also, mocking Him with the scribes and elders, and Pharisees, said, ⁴² He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe on Him. ⁴³ He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He'll have Him; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' " ⁴⁴ Even the thieves who were crucified with Him were reviling Him with the same insult.

⁵⁵ Now the chief priests and the whole council were seeking testimony against Jesus, in order to put Him to death, but found none. ⁵⁶ For many were testifying falsely against Him, but their testimonies were not the same. ⁵⁷ Then some stood up and were testifying falsely against Him, saying, ⁵⁸ "We heard Him saying, 'I will destroy this temple made with hands, and after three days I will build another one not made with hands.' " ⁵⁹ But not even in this way was their testimony the same. ⁶⁰ And the high priest stood up and came forward and questioned Jesus, saying, "Do You answer nothing? What are these men testifying against You?" ⁶¹ But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest was questioning Him, saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" ⁶² And Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." ⁶³ Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "What further need do we have of witnesses? ⁶⁴ You have heard the blasphemy! How does it appear to you?" And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death. ⁶⁵ Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists, and to say to Him, "Prophesy!" And the attendants were striking Him with slaps to the face.

¹⁶ Then the soldiers led Him away into the courtyard, which is the Praetorium, and assembled the whole garrison. ¹⁷ And they clothed Him with purple; and they twisted a crown of thorns, and they put it around His head, ¹⁸ and they began to salute Him, "Hail, King of the Jews!" ¹⁹ And they were striking His head with a reed and were spitting on Him; and bowing the knee, they mockingly worshipped Him. ²⁰ And when they had mocked Him, they stripped Him of the purple, and dressed Him in His own clothing. And led Him out so that they might crucify Him.

²⁷ And together with Him they crucified two bandits, one on His right side and the one on His left. ²⁸ So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And He was numbered with the transgressors." ²⁹ And those passing by were blaspheming Him, shaking their heads and saying, "Aha! You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, ³⁰ save Yourself, and come down from the cross!" ³¹ Likewise the chief priests also, mocking Him to each other with the scribes said, "He saved others; Himself He is not able to save. ³² Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe Him." Even those who were crucified with Him were reviling Him.

²² And when He had said these things, one of the attendants who stood by slapped Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, "Is this how You answer the high priest?"

² looking unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

²³ who, being verbally abused, did not return verbal insults, when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

²¹ And the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he became a grinder in the prison house.

²⁵ And when their heart was merry, then they said, Call Sampson out of the prison house, and let him play before us. And they called Sampson out of the prison house, and he played before them; and they struck him with the palms of their hands, and set him between the pillars.

³¹ "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men. ³² And whoever says a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in the coming one.

³⁹ And those passing by were blaspheming Him, shaking their heads

¹⁰ And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven.

¹¹ And I punished them often in all the synagogues, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even as far as to foreign cities.

¹³ I, who was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I was shown mercy because, being ignorant, I did it in unbelief, ¹⁴ and the grace of our Lord superabounded with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

¹ Why did the heathen rage, and the nations imagine vain things? ² The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers gathered themselves together, against the Lord, and against His Christ; ³ saying, Let us break through Their bonds, and cast away Their yoke from us.

²² But I say to you that whoever gets angry with his brother without cause will be liable to the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Empty-head!' will be liable to the council. But whoever says, ' fool!' will be liable to the fiery hell.

¹ When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus, so as to put Him to death.

¹ Immediately, in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation, along with the elders and scribes and the whole Sanhedrin; and having bound Jesus, they led Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate.

²⁸ Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning. But they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium, lest they might be defiled, but so that they might eat the Passover.

⁵ as also the high priest testifies of me, along with the council of the elders, from whom I also received letters to the brothers, and went to Damascus in order to bring those who were there, having been bound, to Jerusalem, that they might be punished.

³ he said to Him, "Are You the Coming One, or do we look for a different one?" ⁴ Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and report to John the things which you hear and see: ⁵ The blind receive sight, and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

⁶¹ But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest was questioning Him, saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" ⁶² And Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." ⁶³ Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "What further need do we have of witnesses? ⁶⁴ You have heard the blasphemy! How does it appear to you?" And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death. ⁶⁵ Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists, and to say to Him, "Prophesy!" ³¹ But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded should one rise from the dead.' "

³⁹ You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about Me. ⁴⁰ But you are unwilling to come to Me, so that you may have life. ⁴¹ I do not receive glory from men. ⁴² But I have known you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. ⁴³ I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive. ⁴⁴ How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and do not seek the glory which is from the only God? ⁴⁵ Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you--Moses, in whom you have hoped. ⁴⁶ For if you believed Moses, you would have believed Me; for he wrote about Me. ⁴⁷ But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?"

⁴³ Why do you not understand what I say? Because you are unable to hear My word. ⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you desire to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar, and the father of lies. ⁴⁵ But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.

²⁷ He answered them, "I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you wish to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?" ²⁸ Then they reviled him and said, "You are His disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.

²⁴ Then the Jews encircled Him and said to Him, "How long will You hold us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly." ²⁵ Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father's name, these things testify about Me. ²⁶ But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, just as I said to you.

³⁷ But even though He had done so many signs in their presence, they did not believe in Him, ³⁸ that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said: "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?" ³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: ⁴⁰ "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them." ⁴¹ These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke about Him. ⁴² Nevertheless even from among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be excommunicated; ⁴³ for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

³ But He answered and said to them, "I also will ask you one thing, and so tell Me: ⁴ The baptism of John--was it from heaven or from men?" ⁵ And they debated among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?' ⁶ But if we say, 'From men,' all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet." ⁷ So they answered that they did not know where it was from.

⁴¹ And He said to them, "How do they say that the Christ is the Son of David? ⁴² Even David himself said in the Book of Psalms, 'The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, ⁴³ till I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet." ' ⁴⁴ "Therefore David calls Him 'Lord'; how is He then his Son?"

¹³ I beheld in the night vision, and behold, One like the Son of Man coming with the clouds of heaven, and He came to the Ancient of Days, and was brought near to Him. ¹⁴ And to Him was given the dominion, and the honor, and the kingdom; and all nations, tribes, and languages, shall serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom shall not be destroyed.

⁴⁴ 'The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet" '?

⁶⁴ Jesus said to him, "You said it. Nevertheless, I say to you, from now on, you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."

⁶² And Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."

¹⁹ So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

⁵⁵ But being full of the Holy Spirit, looking intently into heaven, he saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, ⁵⁶ and he said, "Behold! I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!"

²⁰ which He worked in Christ, having raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenlies, ²¹ above every ruler and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the coming age. ²² And He subjected all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, ²³ which is His body, the fullness of Him filling all things in all.

⁸ Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men." ⁹ But that "He ascended"--what it is but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended, He is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.

¹ If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.

³ who being the effulgence of His glory and the exact expression of His substance, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

¹ Now this is the main point of the things being said: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

²² who having gone into heaven, is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers being subjected to Him.

¹ And he showed me a pure river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

⁷ declaring the ordinance of the Lord: the Lord has said to Me, You are My Son, today I have begotten You.

¹² Accept correction, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you should perish from the righteous way. Whenever His wrath shall be suddenly kindled, blessed are all they that trust in Him.

¹⁷ And behold, a voice came out of the heavens, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I have found delight."

³ And approaching Him, the tempter said, "If You are the Son of God, speak so that these stones may become bread."

¹¹ Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, "Are You the King of the Jews?" So Jesus said to him, "It is as you say."

⁴³ He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He'll have Him; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' "

⁵⁴ So when the centurion and those with him guarding Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they were greatly afraid, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!"

² Then Pilate asked Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And He answered and said to him, "You are saying what is so."

⁴¹ And also demons were coming out of many, crying out and saying, "You are the Christ, the Son of God!" And rebuking them, He did not allow them to speak, because they knew that He was the Messiah.

³ Then Pilate questioned Him, saying, "Are You the King of the Jews?" He answered him and said, "You are saying what is so."

³⁴ "And I have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God."

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said to Him, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!"

³⁰ I and the Father are one."

³⁶ do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?

³⁷ Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."

⁷ The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and according to our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God."

⁶⁵ Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, "He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! ⁶⁶ What do you think?" They answered and said, "He is deserving of death."

⁶³ Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "What further need do we have of witnesses? ⁶⁴ You have heard the blasphemy! How does it appear to you?" And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.
