¹ On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. ² And great crowds were gathered together to Him, so that He got into the boat and sat; and the crowd stood on the shore. ³ And He spoke to them many things in parables, saying: "Behold, a sower went out to sow. ⁴ And as he sowed, some seed fell alongside the road; and the birds came and devoured them. ⁵ But others fell on the stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth. ⁶ But when the sun rose, it was scorched, and because it had no root, it withered away. ⁷ But others fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them out. ⁸ But others fell on good ground and it was yielding fruit: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. ⁹ He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" ¹⁰ And the disciples approached and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" ¹¹ He answered and said to them, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. ¹² For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he shall be in abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. ¹³ Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. ¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which says: 'Hearing you shall hear and by no means understand, and seeing you shall see and by no means perceive. ¹⁵ For the heart of this people has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes have closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn back, that I should heal them.' ¹⁶ "But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears, because they hear. ¹⁷ For assuredly I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and they did not see, and to hear what you hear, and they did not hear." ¹⁸ "Therefore hear the parable of the sower: ¹⁹ When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand, then the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed being sown beside the road. ²⁰ But the seed sown on stony ground, is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; ²¹ yet he has no root in himself, but is short-lived. For when tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he stumbles. ²² But the seed sown in the thorns is he who hears the word, and the anxiety of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches chokes out the word, and it becomes fruitless. ²³ But the seed sown on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." ²⁴ Another parable He set before them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man sowing good seed in his field. ²⁵ But while the men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went away. ²⁶ But when the stalk had sprouted and produced fruit, then the tares also appeared. ²⁷ So the servants of the master of the house approached and said to him, 'Sir, was it not good seed you sowed in your field? From where then does it have tares?' ²⁸ "He said to them, 'An enemy did this.' So the servants said to him, 'Do you wish then that we should go and gather them up?' ²⁹ "But he said, 'No, lest gathering up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. ³⁰ Leave both to grow together until the harvest; and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares, and bind them into bundles to burn them, but gather together the wheat into my barn." ' " ³¹ Another parable He set before them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, ³² which indeed is smaller than all the seeds; but whenever it is grown, it is greater than the garden vegetables and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches." ³³ Another parable He spoke to them: "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and mixed in with three measures of meal, until the whole was leavened." ³⁴ Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds, and without a parable He did not speak to them, ³⁵ so that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: "I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things having been hidden from the foundation of the world." ³⁶ Then having dismissed the crowds, Jesus went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." ³⁷ He answered and said to them: "He that sows the good seed is the Son of Man. ³⁸ And the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the evil one. ³⁹ The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. ⁴⁰ Therefore just as the tares are gathered and burned with fire, thus it will be at the end of this age. ⁴¹ The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who work iniquity, ⁴² and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ⁴³ Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" ⁴⁴ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure having been hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it, he went and sold everything he had, and bought that field." ⁴⁵ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, ⁴⁶ who, when he found one very precious pearl, went and sold everything he had and bought it." ⁴⁷ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet having been cast into the sea, and gathering some of every kind, ⁴⁸ which, when it was filled, they pulled up on the shore; and sitting down, they collected the good into vessels, but the rotten they threw out. ⁴⁹ Thus it shall be at the end of the age: the angels shall go forth and separate the evil from among the righteous, ⁵⁰ and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." ⁵¹ Jesus said to them, "Have you understood all these things?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord." ⁵² Then He said to them, "Therefore every scribe having become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure new and old things." ⁵³ Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, He went away from there. ⁵⁴ And coming into His hometown, He began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, "Where did this Man get this wisdom and the miracles? ⁵⁵ Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Jude? ⁵⁶ And His sisters, are they not all with us? From where then did this Man get all these things?" ⁵⁷ So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, and in his own house." ⁵⁸ And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.

²⁸ And when He came into the house, the blind men approached Him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord."

³⁶ Then having dismissed the crowds, Jesus went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field."

¹³ Then He went out again alongside the sea; and all the crowd was coming to Him, and He was teaching them.

¹ And again He began to teach beside the sea. And a large crowd was gathered to Him, so that He got aboard into the boat, and sat on the sea; and all the crowd was upon the land by the sea. ² And He was teaching them many things by parables, and said to them in His teaching: ³ "Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. ⁴ And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell alongside the road; and the birds came and devoured it. ⁵ And some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. ⁶ But when the sun rose it was scorched, and because it had no root it was withered up. ⁷ And some seed fell into the thorns; and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. ⁸ But other seed fell on good ground and it was yielding fruit coming up and growing, and it was producing--some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred." ⁹ And He said, "He that has ears to hear, let him hear!" ¹⁰ But when He was by himself, those around Him together with the twelve asked Him about the parable. ¹¹ And He said to them, "Unto you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come to be spoken in parables, ¹² so that 'Seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand; Lest they should turn, and their sins be forgiven them.' "

⁴ And when a large crowd had gathered, and the people came to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable: ⁵ A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell alongside the road; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. ⁶ And other seed fell on rock; and when it grew up, it withered away because it had no moisture. ⁷ And other seed fell among thorns, and when the thorns grew up with it, they choked it. ⁸ But other seed fell into good ground, and when it grew up, it produced fruit a hundredfold." Saying these things He was calling out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" ⁹ Then His disciples asked Him, saying, "What does this parable mean?" ¹⁰ And He said, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest they are in parables, that 'Seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.'

¹⁰ A ruler shall not fail from Judah, nor a prince from his loins, until there come the things stored up for him; and He is the expectation of nations.

²⁵ And large crowds followed Him from Galilee and from Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and beyond the Jordan.

³⁰ And great crowds came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they put them down at Jesus' feet, and He healed them.

¹ And again He began to teach beside the sea. And a large crowd was gathered to Him, so that He got aboard into the boat, and sat on the sea; and all the crowd was upon the land by the sea.

³ Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and He asked him to put out a little from the land. And sitting down, He began to teach the crowds from the boat.

⁴ And when a large crowd had gathered, and the people came to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable: ⁵ A sower went out to sow his seed. ⁸ The trees once went forth to anoint a king over them; and they said to the olive, Reign over us. ⁹ But the olives said to them, Shall I leave my fatness, with which men shall glorify God, and go to be promoted over the trees? ¹⁰ And the trees said to the fig tree, Come, reign over us. ¹¹ But the fig tree said to them, Shall I leave my sweetness and my good fruits, and go to be promoted over the trees? ¹² And the trees said to the vine, Come, reign over us. ¹³ And the vine said to them, Shall I leave my wine that cheers God and men, and go to be promoted over the trees? ¹⁴ Then all the trees said to the bramble, Come, and reign over us. ¹⁵ And the bramble said to the trees, If in truth you anoint me to reign over you, come, stand under my shadow; and if not, let fire come out from me and devour the cedars of Lebanon. ¹⁶ And now, if you have done it in truth and integrity, and have made Abimelech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubbaal, and with his house, and if you have done to him according to the reward of his hand, ¹⁷ as my father fought for you, and put his life in jeopardy, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian; ¹⁸ and you have risen up this day against the house of my father, and have slain his sons, being seventy men, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech the son of his bondwoman king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother: ¹⁹ if then you have done truly and faithfully with Jerubbaal, and with his house this day, then rejoice in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice over you. ²⁰ But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Beth Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem and from the house of Beth Millo, and devour Abimelech.

¹ And the Lord sent Nathan the prophet to David; and he went in to him, and said to him, There were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor. ² And the rich man had very many flocks and herds. ³ But the poor man had only one little ewe lamb, which he had purchased, and preserved, and reared; and it grew up with himself and his children in common; it ate of his bread and drank of his cup, and slept in his bosom, and was to him as a daughter. ⁴ And a traveler came to the rich man, and he refused to take of his flocks and of his herds, to prepare for the traveler that came to him; and he took the poor man's lamb, and prepared it for the man that came to him. ⁵ And David was greatly moved with anger against the man; and David said to Nathan, As the Lord lives, the man that did this thing shall surely die. ⁶ And he shall restore the lamb seven-fold, because he has not spared. ⁷ And Nathan said to David, You are the man that has done this! Thus says the Lord God of Israel: I anointed you to be king over Israel, and I rescued you out the hand of Saul;

⁴ I will incline my ear to a parable; I will open my riddle on the harp.

² I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter dark sayings which have been from the beginning.

¹ Now I will sing to my Beloved a song of my Beloved concerning His vineyard. My Beloved had a vineyard on a high hill in a fertile place. ² And I made a hedge round it, and dug a trench, and planted a choice vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and dug a place for the wine vat in it; and I waited for it to bring forth grapes, and it brought forth thorns. ³ And now, you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and every man of Judah, judge between Me and My vineyard. ⁴ What shall I do anymore to My vineyard, that I have not done to it? Whereas I expected it to bring forth grapes, but it has brought forth thorns. ⁵ And now I will tell you what I will do to My vineyard; I will take away its hedge, and it shall be for a spoil; and I will pull down its walls, and it shall be left to be trodden down. ⁶ And I will forsake My vineyard; and it shall not be pruned, nor dug, and thorns shall come up upon it as on barren land; and I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it. ⁷ For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah His beloved plant; I expected it to bring forth judgment, and it brought forth iniquity; and not righteousness, but a cry.

² Son of man, relate a tale, and speak a parable to the house of Israel:

⁴⁹ And I said, Not so, O Lord God! They say to me, Is not this that is spoken a parable?

³ And speak a parable to the provoking house, and you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord: Set on the caldron, and pour water into it, ⁴ and put the pieces into it, every prime piece, the leg and shoulder taken off from the bones, ⁵ which are taken from choice cattle, and burn the bones under them; her bones are boiled and cooked in the midst of her. ⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord: O bloody city, the caldron in which there is scum, and the scum has not gone out of, she has brought it forth piece by piece, no lot has fallen upon it. ⁷ For her blood is in the midst of her; I have set it upon a smooth rock; I have not poured it out upon the earth, so that the earth should cover it; ⁸ that My wrath should come up for complete vengeance to be taken; I set her blood upon a smooth rock, so as not to cover it. ⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord: I will also make the firebrand great, ¹⁰ and I will multiply the wood, and kindle the fire, that the flesh may be consumed, and the liquor boiled away; ¹¹ and that it may stand upon the coals, that her brass may be thoroughly heated, and be melted in the midst of her filthiness, and her scum may be consumed, ¹² and her abundant scum may not come forth from her. ¹³ Her scum shall become shameful, because you defiled yourself; and what if you shall be purged no more until I have accomplished My wrath? ¹⁴ I the Lord have spoken; and it shall come, and I will do it; I will not delay, neither will I have any mercy: I will judge you, says the Lord, according to your ways, and according to your devices. Therefore will I judge you according to your bloodshed, and according to your devices will I judge you, you unclean, notorious, and abundantly provoking one.

⁴ In that day shall a parable be taken up against you, and a plaintive lamentation shall be uttered, saying, We are thoroughly miserable: the portion of my people has been measured out with a line, and there was none to hinder him so as to turn him back; your fields have been divided.

⁶ Shall not all these take up a parable against him? And a proverb to tell against him? And they shall say, Woe to him that multiplies to himself the possessions which are not his! How long? And who heavily loads his yoke.

¹⁰ And the disciples approached and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" ¹¹ He answered and said to them, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. ¹² For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he shall be in abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. ¹³ Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

³⁴ Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds, and without a parable He did not speak to them, ³⁵ so that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: "I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things having been hidden from the foundation of the world."

⁵³ Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, He went away from there.

¹ And Jesus answered and spoke to them again in parables, saying,

³² "Now learn this parable from the fig tree: Whenever its branch already becomes tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.

²³ And having summoned them, he began to say to them in parables: "How is Satan able to cast out Satan?

² And He was teaching them many things by parables, and said to them in His teaching: ³ "Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. ⁴ And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell alongside the road; and the birds came and devoured it. ⁵ And some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. ⁶ But when the sun rose it was scorched, and because it had no root it was withered up. ⁷ And some seed fell into the thorns; and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. ⁸ But other seed fell on good ground and it was yielding fruit coming up and growing, and it was producing--some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred." ⁹ And He said, "He that has ears to hear, let him hear!"

¹³ And He said to them, "Do you not know this parable? How then will you know all the parables?

³³ And by many such parables He would speak the word to them, just as they were able to hear it.

¹ Then He began to speak to them with parables: "A man planted a vineyard and set a fence around it, dug a wine vat and built a tower. And he leased it to farmers, and went on a journey.

¹² And they sought to lay hold of Him, but they feared the crowd, for they knew that He has spoken the parable against them. And leaving Him, they went away.

¹⁰ And He said, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest they are in parables, that 'Seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.'

⁴¹ Then Peter said to Him, "Lord, do You speak this parable only to us, or to all people?"

³ And He told them this parable, saying: ⁴ What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and loses one of them, does not leave behind the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and goes after the one having been lost until he finds it? ⁵ And having found it, he puts it on his own shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And coming into the house, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' ⁷ I say to you that likewise there shall be more joy in heaven over one sinner repenting than over ninety-nine righteous who need no repentance.

²⁵ "These things I have spoken to you in figures of speech; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.

¹⁸ "Therefore hear the parable of the sower: ¹⁹ When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand, then the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed being sown beside the road.

¹⁹ And I will give them another heart, and will put a new spirit within them; and will extract the heart of stone from their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh;

²⁶ And I will give you a new heart, and will put a new spirit in you: and I will take away the heart of stone out of your flesh, and will give you a heart of flesh.

^{12 (6:13)} Will horses run upon rocks? Will they refrain from neighing at mares? For you have turned judgment into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness.

¹² And they made their heart disobedient, so as not to hearken to My law, and the words which the Lord Almighty sent forth by His Spirit by the former prophets: so there was great wrath from the Lord Almighty.

²⁰ But the seed sown on stony ground, is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;

¹⁰ They shall not hunger, neither shall they thirst; neither shall the heat nor the sun strike them; but He that has mercy on them shall comfort them, and by fountains of waters shall He lead them.

²⁶ And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them, will be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand: ²⁷ and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And its fall was great."

²¹ yet he has no root in himself, but is short-lived. For when tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

¹³ But those on the rock are they that, whenever they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of testing fall away.

¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; being rooted and founded in love,

²³ if indeed you continue in the faith, having been founded and firm and not drifting away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was proclaimed to all creation under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

⁷ having been rooted and built up in Him and being established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

¹¹ For the sun arose with burning heat and withered the grass, and its flower fell off, and its beautiful appearance perished. So the rich man also shall fade away in his pursuits. ¹² Blessed is the man who endures temptation; because when he is approved, he shall receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love Him.

¹⁶ They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; nor shall the sun by any means strike them, nor any scorching heat;

^{18 (3:19)} Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to you, and you shall eat the herb of the field.

³ For thus says the Lord to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Break up fresh ground for yourselves, and sow not among thorns. ⁴ Circumcise yourselves to your God, and circumcise your hardness of heart, you men of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem, lest My wrath go forth as fire, and burn, and there be none to quench it, because of the evil of your devices.

²² But the seed sown in the thorns is he who hears the word, and the anxiety of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches chokes out the word, and it becomes fruitless.

¹⁸ And these are the seeds being sown in the thorns; they are the ones who are hearing the word, ¹⁹ and the anxieties of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things coming in choke out the word, and it becomes fruitless.

¹² And Isaac sowed in that land, and he found barley in that year, and reaped one hundred fold, and the Lord blessed him.

²³ But the seed sown on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

¹⁵ But that which fell on the good ground, these are such who when they heard the word, with a noble and good heart, hold on to it and bear fruit with endurance.

⁸ By this My Father is glorified, that you may bear much fruit; and you will become My disciples.

¹⁸ For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to do the good, I do not find.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, self-control--against such things there is no law.

¹¹ having been filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

¹⁵ He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

¹⁶ "But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears, because they hear.

⁹ And He said, "He that has ears to hear, let him hear!"

²³ If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."

¹⁴ And having summoned all the crowd, He said to them, "Hear Me, all of you and understand: ¹⁵ There is nothing from outside a man, that entering into him, can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.

⁷ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of My God." '

¹¹ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall in no way be harmed by the second death." '

⁸ And all those who dwell on the earth shall worship him, whose name is not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. ⁹ If anyone has an ear, let him hear.

¹⁰ But when He was by himself, those around Him together with the twelve asked Him about the parable.

³³ And by many such parables He would speak the word to them, just as they were able to hear it. ³⁴ And apart from a parable He did not speak to them, however, privately to His disciples, he would explain all things.

⁸ Good and upright is the Lord; therefore will He instruct sinners in the way. ⁹ The meek will He guide in judgment; the meek will He teach His ways.

¹⁴ The Lord is the strength of them that fear Him; and His covenant is to manifest truth to them.

¹⁰ For the Lord has made you to drink a spirit of deep sleep; and He shall close their eyes, and the eyes of their prophets and of their rulers, who see secret things.

⁸ There shall be there a pure way, and it shall be called a holy way; and there shall not pass by there any unclean person, neither shall there be there an unclean way; but the dispersed shall walk on it, and they shall not go astray.

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes. ²⁶ Yes, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.

¹⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

¹¹ But He said to them, "All cannot accept this saying, but it is for those to whom it has been given:

¹¹ And He said to them, "Unto you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come to be spoken in parables,

³⁹ And the woman had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and was listening to His word. ⁴⁰ But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, "Lord, don't You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me." ⁴¹ And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. ⁴² But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

⁶⁵ And He said, "Because of this I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father."

¹⁷ If anyone desires to do His will, he will know about the doctrine, whether it is from God, or whether I am speaking on My own authority.

¹⁴ And a certain woman named Lydia, a dealer of purple cloth of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, heard us, whose heart The Lord opened to give heed to the things spoken by Paul.

¹¹ And these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all readiness, each day examining the Scriptures to see whether these things might be so. ¹² Therefore many of them believed, and not a few of the prominent Greek women and men.

^{25 (14:24)} Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began,

⁷ But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the wisdom having been hidden, which God foreordained before the ages for our glory,

⁹ But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." ¹⁰ But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.

¹⁴ But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

¹ Let a man so consider us, as ministers of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

⁷ For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? And if you did indeed receive what you have, why do you boast as though you did not receive it?

² And though I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

⁵¹ Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all die, but we shall all be changed--

⁹ having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,

¹⁸ the eyes of your heart having been enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

³ how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery, just as I wrote before briefly, ⁴ with reference to which, when you read, you can understand my insight in the mystery of Christ, ⁵ which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: ⁶ that the Gentiles should be joint-heirs, and of the same body, and joint-partakers in His promise in Christ by the gospel, ⁷ of which I became a minister according to the free gift of the grace of God which was given to me according to the working of His power. ⁸ To me, the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, ⁹ and to enlighten all as to what is the administration of the mystery, which had been hidden from the ages in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ;

³² This is a great mystery, but I speak in reference to Christ and to the church.

¹⁹ and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, in the opening of my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,

²⁶ the mystery which has been hidden from the ages and from generations, but now was revealed to His saints. ²⁷ To whom God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the nations, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory;

² that their hearts may be encouraged, being joined together in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to a full knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,

⁹ holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience.

¹⁶ And confessedly, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, and was received up in glory.

⁵ If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it shall be given to him.

¹⁶ Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. ¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. ¹⁸ Exercising His will He begat us by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

²⁰ But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

²⁷ And as for you, the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

⁴³ "Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and it shall be given to a nation producing the fruits of it.

²⁹ For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but to him who does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

²⁴ Then He said to them, "Watch what you hear. By what measure you measure, it will be measured out to you; and more will be added to you who hear. ²⁵ For whoever has, more will be given to him; and the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him."

⁹ Therefore what will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and will destroy the farmers, and give the vineyard to others.

¹⁸ Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, more shall be given to him; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has shall be taken away from him."

²⁶ For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.

⁴² But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have prepared?' ²¹ So is he who accumulates treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

² And calling him, he said to him, 'What is this I hear about you? Render an account of your management, for you can no longer be manager.'

²⁵ But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things, but now here he is comforted and you are suffering.

²⁴ And he said to those standing by, 'Take the mina away from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.' ²⁵ "But they said to him, 'Master, he has ten minas.' ²⁶ For I say to you that to everyone who has, more shall be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

² Every branch in Me which does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch which bears fruit He prunes, so that it may bear more fruit. ³ You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. ⁴ Abide in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit on its own, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. ⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; because apart from Me you can do nothing.

⁵ Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works; but if not, I am coming to you quickly and I will remove your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent.

¹⁵ "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. ¹⁶ Therefore, since you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth.

³ the great temptations which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders. ⁴ Yet the Lord God has not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, until this day.

¹⁸ Hear, you deaf, and look up, you blind, to see. ¹⁹ And who is blind, but My servants? And who is deaf, but those that rule over them? Yes, the servants of God have been made blind. ²⁰ You have often seen, and have not taken heed; your ears have been opened, and you have not heard.

¹⁸ They have no understanding to perceive; for they have been blinded so that they should not see with their eyes, nor perceive with their heart.

²¹ Hear now these things, O foolish and senseless people; who have eyes, and see not; and have ears, and hear not:

² Son of man, you dwell in the midst of the iniquities of those who have eyes to see, and see not; and have ears to hear, and hear not; because they are a provoking house.

¹⁷ But Jesus, knowing about it, said to them, "Why are you reasoning because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Is your heart still hardened? ¹⁸ Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than the light, because their works were evil. ²⁰ For everyone that does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works be exposed.

³⁹ And Jesus said, "For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see might become blind." ⁴⁰ Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things, and said to Him, "Are we blind also?" ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, 'We see.' Therefore your sin remains.

³ But even if our gospel is hidden, it is hidden among those who are perishing, ⁴ among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine on them.

⁹ You shall hear indeed, but you shall not understand; and you shall see indeed, but you shall not perceive. ¹⁰ For the heart of this people has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and they have closed their eyes; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

¹² so that 'Seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand; Lest they should turn, and their sins be forgiven them.' "

³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: ⁴⁰ "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them."

²⁵ And being in disagreement with one another, they went away after Paul had said one word: "The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers, ²⁶ saying, 'Go to this people and say: "Hearing you will hear, and by no means understand; and seeing you shall see, and by no means perceive; ²⁷ For the hearts of this people has become dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and they should hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their heart and turn back, so that I should heal them." '

⁸ Just as it is written: "God has given them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, to this very day." ⁹ And David says: "Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a recompense to them. ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see, and their back always be bowed down."

¹⁴ But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is removed in Christ.

⁷⁰ Their heart has been curdled like milk; but I have meditated on Your law.

¹⁰ For the heart of this people has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and they have closed their eyes; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

¹⁰ For the Lord has made you to drink a spirit of deep sleep; and He shall close their eyes, and the eyes of their prophets and of their rulers, who see secret things. ¹¹ And all these things shall be to you as the words of this sealed book, which if they shall give to a learned man, saying, Read this, he shall then say, I cannot read it, for it is sealed. ¹² And this book shall be given into the hands of a man that is unlearned, and one shall say to him, Read this; and he shall say, I am not learned.

²⁰ Know that their heart is ashes, and they err, and no one is able to deliver his soul; see, you will not say, There is a lie in my right hand.

¹⁸ I have seen his ways, and healed him, and comforted him, and given him true comfort;

²² Turn, you children that are given to turning, and I will heal your bruises. Behold, we will be Your servants; for You are the Lord our God.

¹⁴ Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed. Save me, and I shall be saved; for You are my boast.

⁶ Behold, I bring upon her healing and cure, and I will show Myself to them, and will heal her, and make both peace and security.

⁴ I will restore their dwellings, I will love them truly: for he has turned away My wrath from him.

¹¹ But they refused to attend, and madly turned their back, and made their ears heavy, so that they should not hear.

² But to you that fear My name shall the Sun of righteousness arise, and healing shall be in His wings: and you shall go forth, and bound as young calves let loose from bonds.

⁴³ Why do you not understand what I say? Because you are unable to hear My word. ⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you desire to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar, and the father of lies.

¹⁹ Repent therefore and turn back, that your sins may be wiped away, in order that seasons of relaxation may come from the presence of the Lord,

⁵⁷ Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one purpose;

¹⁰ and in all deception of unrighteousness among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God will send them strong delusion, in order for them to believe the lie,

²⁵ in meekness instructing those that oppose, if God perhaps may give them repentance, to a full knowledge of the truth, ²⁶ and they regain their senses and escape out of the snare of the devil, having been captured alive by him to do his will.

⁴ and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths.

¹¹ concerning whom we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become sluggish in hearing.

⁴ For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and became partakers of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and have tasted the good word of God and the powerful deeds of the age to come, ⁶ and having fallen away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and hold Him up to contempt.

² In the middle of its street, and on both sides of the river was the tree of life, producing twelve fruits, each yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

³ "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. ⁵ Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. ⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. ⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. ⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. ⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. ¹⁰ Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ "Blessed are you whenever they revile you, and they persecute you, and they say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.

²⁹ "Lord, now You are releasing Your servant in peace, according to Your word; ³⁰ for my eyes have seen Your salvation

²³ And turning to His disciples He said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see what you see; ²⁴ for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and they did not see them, and to hear what you hear, and they did not hear."

²⁹ Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

¹⁸ to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of Satan to God, in order for them to receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'

⁶ Because it is God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, ¹⁸ the eyes of your heart having been enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

²⁴ for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and they did not see them, and to hear what you hear, and they did not hear."

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham rejoiced that he should see My day, and he saw it and he was glad."

⁵ which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: ⁶ that the Gentiles should be joint-heirs, and of the same body, and joint-partakers in His promise in Christ by the gospel,

¹³ These all died according to faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off and welcoming them, and confessing that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

³⁹ And all these, having obtained witness through their faith, did not receive the promise, ⁴⁰ God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.

¹⁰ Concerning this salvation the prophets have sought out and inquired carefully, having prophesied of the grace that would come to you, ¹¹ searching for who or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ in them was revealing when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories which were to follow: ¹² To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to you they were ministering these things, which things were now announced to you by those who proclaimed the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things which angels desire to look into.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. ¹² For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he shall be in abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

¹³ And He said to them, "Do you not know this parable? How then will you know all the parables? ¹⁴ The sower sows the word. ¹⁵ And these are the seeds beside the road where the word is sown, and whenever they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word which was sown in their hearts. ¹⁶ And these are similarly the seeds being sown on stony ground which, whenever they hear the word, immediately they receive it with joy; ¹⁷ and they have no root in themselves, but are shortlived. Afterward, when trials or persecution arise because of the word, immediately they fall away. ¹⁸ And these are the seeds being sown in the thorns; they are the ones who are hearing the word, ¹⁹ and the anxieties of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things coming in choke out the word, and it becomes fruitless. ²⁰ And these are the seeds sown on good ground, such as who hear the word and welcome it, and bear fruit: some thirty fold, some sixty, and some a hundred."

¹¹ "Now this is the parable: The seed is the word of God. ¹² And those beside the road are they that hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, lest they believe and be saved. ¹³ But those on the rock are they that, whenever they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of testing fall away. ¹⁴ And that which fell among thorns, these are those, who when they heard, go out and are choked with anxieties, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. ¹⁵ But that which fell on the good ground, these are such who when they heard the word, with a noble and good heart, hold on to it and bear fruit with endurance.

⁷ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and there is good understanding to all that practice it: and godliness toward God is the beginning of discernment; but the ungodly will nullify wisdom and instruction.

²⁰ Wisdom sings aloud in passages, and in the broad places speaks boldly. ²¹ And she makes proclamation on the top of the walls, and sits by the gates of princes; and at the gates of the city boldly says, ²² So long as the simple cleave to justice, they shall not be ashamed: but the foolish being lovers of haughtiness, having become ungodly have hated knowledge, and have become subject to reproofs.

¹ My son, if you will receive the utterance of my commandment, and hide it within you; ² your ear shall hearken to wisdom; you shall also apply your heart to understanding, and shall apply it to the instruction of your son. ³ For if you shall call to wisdom, and utter your voice for understanding; ⁴ and if you shall seek it as silver, and search diligently for it as for treasures; ⁵ then shall you understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His presence come knowledge and understanding,

¹⁶ Why has the fool wealth? For a senseless man will not be able to purchase wisdom. ^(17:16A) He that exalts his own house seeks ruin, and he that turns aside from instruction shall fall into mischief.

¹ A man who wishes to separate from friends seeks excuses, but at all times he will be liable to reproach. ² A senseless man feels no need of wisdom, for he is rather led by folly.

²³ And Jesus went about all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every illness among the people.

³⁷ But let your word be 'Yes', 'yes,'; 'No,' 'no.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

³⁸ And the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the evil one.

¹⁵ And these are the seeds beside the road where the word is sown, and whenever they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word which was sown in their hearts.

² And He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

⁹ And heal the sick there, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has drawn near to you.'

⁴³ Why do you not understand what I say? Because you are unable to hear My word.

³⁸ Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And having said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, "I find no fault in Him.

³² But when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some were scoffing, but others said, "We will hear you again concerning this."

¹⁵ But if it is a question about a word and names and your own law, see to it yourselves; for I do not wish to be a judge of these things."

²⁵ And now behold, now I know that you all, among whom I have passed through preaching the kingdom of God, will no longer see my face.

²⁵ And as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment which is going to be, Felix became afraid and answered, "Go away for now; but when I have opportunity I will summon you." ²⁶ Meanwhile he also hoped that money would be given him by Paul, that he might release him. Therefore sending for him more often, he was conversing with him.

¹⁹ but had some questions against him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who had died, whom Paul affirmed to be living. ²⁰ And being uncertain as to the investigation concerning this, I asked whether he was willing to go to Jerusalem and there be judged concerning these charges.

³¹ and when they withdrew, they were speaking among themselves, saying, "This man practices nothing worthy of death or chains." ³² Then Agrippa said to Festus, "This man could have been released if he had not appealed to Caesar."

²³ And having appointed for him a day, many came to him at his house, to whom he was explaining and solemnly testifying to the kingdom of God, and persuading them of the things concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning till evening.

²⁸ And just as they did not approve to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do the things which are not fitting;

⁸ But to those who are contentious, and who disobey the truth, but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath,

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

² but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor falsifying the word of God, but by the disclosure of the truth, commending ourselves to every man's conscience before God. ³ But even if our gospel is hidden, it is hidden among those who are perishing,

⁸ To me, the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

¹² so that they all might be damned who did not believe the truth, but delighted in unrighteousness.

¹ On account of this we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

¹³ I am writing to you, fathers, because you have come to know Him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I am writing to you, little children, because you have come to know the Father. ¹⁴ I wrote to you, fathers, because you have come to know Him who is from the beginning. I wrote to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

¹² not as Cain who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his works were evil and the works of his brother were righteous.

¹⁸ We know that everyone begotten of God does not sin; but he that was begotten of God keeps himself, and the evil one does not touch him.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true; and we are in Him that is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

¹³ And Saul said, No man shall die this day, for today the Lord has wrought deliverance in Israel. ¹⁴ And Samuel spoke to the people, saying, Let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there. ¹⁵ And all the people went to Gilgal, and Samuel anointed Saul there to be king before the Lord in Gilgal, and there he offered grain offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. And Samuel and all Israel rejoiced exceedingly.

² And Joash did that which was right in the sight of the Lord all the days of Jehoiada the priest.

⁶ And King Joash called Jehoiada the chief, and said to him, Why have you not looked after the Levites, so that they should bring from Judah and Jerusalem that which was prescribed by Moses the man of God, when he assembled Israel at the tabernacle of witness?

¹⁴ And when they had finished it, they brought to the king and to Jehoiada the remainder of the money, and they made vessels for the house of the Lord, vessels of service for whole burnt offerings, and gold and silver censers: and they offered up whole burnt offerings in the house of the Lord continually all the days of Jehoiada.

³⁴ When He slew them, they sought Him; and they returned and sought diligently after God. ³⁵ And they remembered that God was their Helper, and the Most High God was their Redeemer. ³⁶ Yet they loved Him only with their mouth, and lied to Him with their tongue. ³⁷ For their heart was not right with Him, neither were they steadfast in His covenant.

¹² Then they believed His words, and celebrated His praise. ¹³ They made haste, they forgot His works; they waited not for His counsel.

² They seek Me day by day, and desire to know My ways, as a people that had done righteousness, and had not forsaken the judgment of their God; they now ask of Me righteous judgment, and desire to draw near to God,

³¹ They approach you as a people that come together, and sit before you, and hear your words, but they will not do them; for there is falsehood in their mouth, and their heart goes after their pollutions. ³² And you are to them as a sound of a sweet, well-tuned psaltery, and they will hear your words, but they will not do them.

⁵ But others fell on the stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth. ⁶ But when the sun rose, it was scorched, and because it had no root, it withered away.

¹⁶ And these are similarly the seeds being sown on stony ground which, whenever they hear the word, immediately they receive it with joy; ¹⁷ and they have no root in themselves, but are shortlived. Afterward, when trials or persecution arise because of the word, immediately they fall away.

²⁰ for Herod was afraid of John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and he was protecting him. And when he heard him, he did many things, but he would hear him gladly.

³⁵ He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.

¹³ Then Simon himself also believed; and having been baptized, he was continuing with Philip, and observing miracles and signs occurring, he was astounded.

¹⁴ And my trial which was in my flesh you did not despise nor disdain, but as an angel of God you received me, even as Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ What then was your blessing? For I bear you witness that, if possible, you would have torn out your own eyes and given them to me!

²⁸ But if you shall also say, What shall we say before him, and so find the root of the matter in him?

⁸ For what is the hope of the ungodly, that he holds to it? Will he indeed trust in the Lord and be saved? ⁹ Will God hear his prayer? Or when distress has come upon him, ¹⁰ has he any confidence before Him? Or will God hear him as he calls upon Him?

³ The words of his mouth are transgression and deceit; he is not inclined to understand how to do good.

³ A man shall not prosper by wickedness, but the roots of the righteous shall not be taken up.

¹² The desires of the ungodly are evil, but the roots of the godly are firmly set.

⁴ What shall I do unto you, Ephraim? What shall I do to you, Judah? For your mercy is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew that goes away.

¹⁰ Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ "Blessed are you whenever they revile you, and they persecute you, and they say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. ¹² Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

²² Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name we cast out demons, and in Your name we did many mighty works?' ²³ "And then I will confess to them, 'I never knew you! Depart from Me, you who work iniquity!'

²² And you will be hated by all people for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

³⁷ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. ³⁸ And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. ³⁹ He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

⁶ And blessed is the one who is not offended because of Me."

⁶ But when the sun rose, it was scorched, and because it had no root, it withered away.

⁵⁷ So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, and in his own house."

²⁴ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. ²⁵ For whoever desires to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life on account of Me shall find it. ²⁶ For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give as an exchange for his soul?

⁹ Then they will hand you over to tribulation and they will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations, on account of My name. ¹⁰ And then many will fall away, and they will betray one another, and they will hate one another.

¹³ But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

³¹ Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me on this night, for it is written: 'I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'

³³ Peter answered and said to Him, "Even if all are made to stumble because of You, yet I will never be made to stumble."

¹⁷ and they have no root in themselves, but are shortlived. Afterward, when trials or persecution arise because of the word, immediately they fall away.

³⁴ And having summoned the crowd together with His disciples, He said to them, "Whoever is willing to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. ³⁵ For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's, will save it. ³⁶ For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul?

¹² Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and will cause them to be put to death. ¹³ And you will be hated by all on account of My name. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

²³ Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. ²⁴ For whoever desires to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake shall save it. ²⁵ For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?

²⁶ If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. ²⁷ And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. ²⁸ For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not first sit down and count up the cost, whether he has the resources to complete it? ²⁹ Lest perhaps after he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all those who see it begin to mock him, ³⁰ saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.' ³¹ Or what king, going to engage another king in battle, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? ³² Otherwise, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks the terms for peace. ³³ So likewise, every one of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be My disciple.

¹² But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and they will persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers on account of My name. ¹³ But it shall turn out for you for a testimony. ¹⁴ Put it then in your hearts not to practice beforehand giving your defense; ¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict nor to withstand. ¹⁶ You will be betrayed even by parents and relatives, friends and brothers; and they will put some of you to death. ¹⁷ And you will be hated by all people for My name's sake. ¹⁸ But not a hair of your head shall by any means perish.

²⁶ Jesus answered them and said, "Most assuredly I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate from the loaves and were satisfied.

⁶¹ And Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples were murmuring about this, He said to them, "Does this offend you? ⁶² What then if you should see the Son of Man ascending where He was before? ⁶³ It is the Spirit who makes alive; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. ⁶⁴ But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who were the ones who did not believe, and who was the one who would betray Him. ⁶⁵ And He said, "Because of this I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father."

⁷⁰ He answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?" ⁷¹ Now He was speaking about Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for he was intending to betray Him, though he was one of the twelve.

²⁵ He that loves his life shall lose it, and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it for eternal life. ²⁶ And if anyone serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant shall be also. If anyone serve Me, him My Father will honor.

⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; because apart from Me you can do nothing. ⁶ If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out like a branch and dries up; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what ever you may desire, and it shall be done for you.

²¹ You have neither part nor portion in this word, for your heart is not straight before God. ²² Repent therefore from this your wickedness, and make petition to God, if perhaps the intent of your heart will be forgiven you. ²³ For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and the bond of unrighteousness."

⁷ to those who by the endurance of good works are seeking glory and honor and incorruption--eternal life.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.

¹² As many as wish to make a good showing in the flesh, these compel you to get circumcised, only so that they should not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.

¹⁵ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but a new creation.

⁶ having been persuaded of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus;

¹⁵ This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

¹⁰ For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and traveled to Thessalonica--Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.

³⁵ Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has a great recompense. ³⁶ For you have need of endurance, so that having done the will of God, you may receive the promise: ³⁷ "For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not delay. ³⁸ But the just shall live by faith, and if he withdraws, My soul has no pleasure in him." ³⁹ But we are not of those shrinking back to destruction, but of faith, to the saving of the soul.

⁵ who by the power of God are being guarded through faith for the salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

⁸ For if these things belong to you and are increasing, it makes you neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ For he who lacks these things is blind, being shortsighted, having forgotten the cleansing of his past sins.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out in order that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. ²⁰ But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

¹³ "I know your works, and where you live, where Satan's throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith in the days in which Antipas was My faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan is dwelling.

¹⁰ And Lot, having lifted up his eyes, observed all the country round about the Jordan, that it was all watered, before God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, as the garden of the Lord, and as the land of Egypt, until you come to Zoar. ¹¹ And Lot chose for himself all the country round the Jordan, and Lot went from the east, and they were separated each from his brother. And Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan. ¹² And Lot dwelt in a city of the neighboring people, and pitched his tent in Sodom. ¹³ But the men of Sodom were evil, and exceedingly sinful before God.

²⁰ And Achan answered Joshua and said, Indeed I have sinned against the Lord God of Israel; thus and thus have I done. ²¹ I saw in the spoil an embroidered mantle, and two hundred shekels of silver, and one golden wedge of fifty shekels, and I desired them and took them; and behold, they are hid in my tent, and the silver is hid under them.

²⁰ And Gehazi the servant of Elisha said, Behold, my Lord has spared this Syrian Naaman, so as not to take of his hand what he has brought; as the Lord lives, I will surely run after him, and take something from him. ²¹ So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And Naaman saw him running after him, and turned back from his chariot to meet him. ²² And Gehazi said, All is well: my master has sent me, saying, Behold, now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from Mount Ephraim; please give them a talent of silver, and two changes of clothes. ²³ And Naaman said, Take two talents of silver. And he took two talents of silver in two bags, and two changes of clothing, and put them upon two of his servants, and they bore them before him. ²⁴ And he came to a secret place, and took them from their hands, and laid them up in the house, and dismissed the men. ²⁵ And he went in himself and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him, ²⁶ From where have you come, Gehazi? And Gehazi said, Your servant has not been anywhere. And Elisha said to him, Did not my heart go with you, when the man returned from his chariot to meet you? And now you have received silver, and now you have received clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, menservants, and maidservants. ²⁷ The leprosy also of Naaman shall cleave to you, and to your seed forever. And he went out from his presence leprous, like snow.

⁷ Behold, the man who made not God his help; but trusted in the abundance of his wealth, and strengthened himself in his vanity.

¹⁰ Trust not in unrighteousness, and lust not after robberies. If wealth should flow in, set not your heart upon it.

²⁸ He that trusts in wealth shall fall, but he that helps righteous men shall rise.

⁵ If you should fix your eye upon him, he will disappear; for wings like an eagle's are prepared for him, and he returns to the house of his master.

⁸ There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he has neither son nor brother: yet there is no end to all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with wealth. And for whom do I labor, and deprive my soul of good? This is also vanity, and an evil trouble.

¹⁰ He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he who has loved gain, in the abundance thereof. This also is vanity. ¹¹ In the multitude of good they are increased that eat it, and what virtue has the owner, but the right of beholding it with his eyes?

¹³ There is an infirmity which I have seen under the sun, namely, wealth kept for its owner to his own hurt. ¹⁴ And that wealth shall perish in an evil trouble, and the man begets a son, and there is nothing in his hand.

³ For thus says the Lord to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Break up fresh ground for yourselves, and sow not among thorns.

²⁴ "No one is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and he will love the other, or else he will be devoted to the one, and he will despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. ²⁵ "Because of this I say to you, do not worry about your life--what you shall eat, or what you shall drink--nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

⁷ But others fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them out.

¹⁶ And behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?" ¹⁷ So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." ¹⁸ He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, " 'You shall not murder,' 'You shall not commit adultery,' 'You shall not steal,' 'You shall not bear false witness,' ¹⁹ ' Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' " ²⁰ The young man said to Him, "All these have I kept from my youth. What do I still lack?" ²¹ Jesus said to him, "If you desire to be perfect, go, sell your belongings and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." ²² But when the young man heard the word, he went away grieved, for he had many possessions. ²³ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Assuredly I say to you, that with difficulty a rich man shall enter the kingdom of heaven. ²⁴ And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

²³ And looking around, Jesus says to His disciples, "How difficult it is for those having riches to enter the kingdom of God!" ²⁴ And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus, answering again, says to them, "Children, how difficult it is for those who trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God."

¹⁴ And that which fell among thorns, these are those, who when they heard, go out and are choked with anxieties, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

²¹ So is he who accumulates treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

²⁹ And do not seek what you may eat or what you may drink, and do not be anxious. ³⁰ For all these things the nations of the world seek after, but your Father knows that you need these things.

¹⁶ Then He said to him, "A certain man gave a great dinner, and he invited many, ¹⁷ and he sent his servant at dinnertime to say to those who were invited, 'Come, for all things are now ready.' ¹⁸ But they all with one accord began to excuse themselves. The first said to him, 'I bought a field, and I must go and see it. I ask you, have me excused.' ¹⁹ And another said, 'I bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you, have me excused.' ²⁰ Still another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.' ²¹ So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.' ²² And the servant said, 'Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.' ²³ Then the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the roads and hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled. ²⁴ For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste of my supper.' "

²⁴ And when Jesus saw that he became very sad, He said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! ²⁵ For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

³⁴ "But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and worries of life, and that Day come upon you unexpectedly.

¹ But a certain man named Ananias, together with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. ² And he kept back for himself from the price, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and placed it beside the feet of the apostles. ³ But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart for you to lie to the Holy Spirit, and for you to keep back for yourself from the price of the land? ⁴ While it remained unsold, did it not remain yours? And after it was sold, was it not in your control? Why have you purposed this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." ⁵ Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and died. And great fear came upon all those hearing these things. ⁶ And the young men rose up and covered him up, carried him out, and buried him. ⁷ And it happened about three hours later, that his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in. ⁸ And Peter answered her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?" She said, "Yes, for so much." ⁹ Then Peter said to her, "Why is it that it was agreed by you to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they shall carry you out." ¹⁰ Then immediately she fell down beside his feet and died. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her with her husband. ¹¹ And great fear came to be on all the church and upon all those who were hearing these things.

¹⁸ Now when Simon observed that by the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,

⁹ But those desiring to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many senseless and harmful lusts which sink men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all evils, of which some by aspiring have strayed away from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

¹⁷ Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to put their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who provides all things richly for us to enjoy,

¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart having been trained in greediness, they are accursed children. ¹⁵ They have left behind the straight way and gone astray, having followed after the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

¹⁵ Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ Because everything that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not from the Father but is from the world.

¹¹ Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, and in the error of Balaam they have rushed for profit, and have perished in the rebellion of Korah. ¹² These are stains in your love feasts, while they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves, they are waterless clouds being carried along by winds; late autumn trees unfruitful, twice having died, having been uprooted,

¹ Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of evil men. ² But his pleasure is in the law of the Lord; and in His law will he meditate day and night. ³ And he shall be as a tree planted by the brooks of waters, which shall yield its fruit in its season, and its leaf shall not fall off; and whatsoever he shall do shall prosper.

¹³ They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. ¹⁴ Then shall they be increased in a fine old age; and they shall be prosperous; that they may declare ¹⁵ that the Lord my God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in Him.

⁵ For by the hearing of these a wise man will be wiser, and a man of understanding will gain direction; ⁶ and will understand a parable, and an enigma; the saying of the wise also, and riddles.

³¹ Cast away from yourselves all your ungodliness in which you have sinned against Me; and make to yourselves a new heart and a new spirit: for why should you die, O house of Israel?

⁸ Therefore produce fruits worthy of repentance,

¹⁰ But even now, the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

³³ "Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree rotten and its fruit rotten; for a tree is known by its fruit.

⁸ But others fell on good ground and it was yielding fruit: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

²⁰ And these are the seeds sown on good ground, such as who hear the word and welcome it, and bear fruit: some thirty fold, some sixty, and some a hundred."

¹⁵ Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."

⁴³ "For a good tree does not produce rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree produce good fruit. ⁴⁴ For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a thorn bush.

⁹ And if it produces fruit, fine. But if not, in the coming year, you can cut it down.' "

¹¹ He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. ¹² But as many as received Him, He gave them the authority to become children of God, to those who believe in His name; ¹³ who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

⁴⁷ He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear them, because you are not of God."

²⁶ But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, just as I said to you. ²⁷ My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

¹ "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. ² Every branch in Me which does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch which bears fruit He prunes, so that it may bear more fruit. ³ You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. ⁴ Abide in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit on its own, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. ⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; because apart from Me you can do nothing. ⁶ If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out like a branch and dries up; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what ever you may desire, and it shall be done for you. ⁸ By this My Father is glorified, that you may bear much fruit; and you will become My disciples.

¹⁶ You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you may ask the Father in My name He may give to you.

⁷ Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. ⁸ Because I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and they knew truly that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.

¹¹ And these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all readiness, each day examining the Scriptures to see whether these things might be so.

¹ Now we make known to you brothers, the grace of God which has been given to the churches of Macedonia, ² how that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their generosity.

¹⁰ Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness;

¹⁷ Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit which is increasing to your account.

⁶ which has come to you, just as also in all the world, and is bearing fruit and growing, just as also among you, from the day which you heard and fully knew the grace of God in truth;

¹⁰ that you should walk worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit and increasing in the full knowledge of God;

¹ Finally then, brothers, we request of you and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you should abound more.

¹⁰ and in all deception of unrighteousness among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

¹³ But we are obligated to give thanks to God always for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth, ¹⁴ to which He called you through our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

² For indeed we have had the gospel preached to us just as those also; but the word which they heard did not profit those, not having been mixed with faith in those having heard it.

⁷ For the earth which drinks the rain often coming upon it, and bears suitable vegetation for those on account of whom it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God;

¹⁰ For this is the covenant which I shall covenant with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind, and I shall inscribe them upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

¹⁵ Therefore through Him let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, confessing to His name. ¹⁶ But do not forget the doing of good and generosity, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

²¹ Therefore laying aside all filthiness and abundance of evil, in meekness receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. ²² But become doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

¹ Therefore having put away all malice, all guile, hypocrisy, envy, and all slanders, ² as newborn babes, desire the genuine milk of the word, that by it you may grow,

⁵ But also for this very reason, making every effort, provide with your faith virtue, and with virtue knowledge, ⁶ and with knowledge self-control, and with self-control perseverance, and with perseverance godliness, ⁷ and with godliness brotherly love, and with brotherly love, love. ⁸ For if these things belong to you and are increasing, it makes you neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ but grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

¹² And Sampson said to them, I propound you a riddle: if you will indeed tell it to me, and discover it within the seven days of the feast, I will you give thirty sheets and thirty changes of clothing. ¹³ And if you cannot tell it me, you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing. And they said to him, Propound your riddle, and we will hear it.

¹⁰ Except affliction on affliction, hope upon hope; yet a little, and yet a little,

¹³ Therefore the oracle of God shall be to them affliction on affliction, hope on hope, yet a little, and yet a little, that they may go and fall backward; and they shall be crushed and shall be in danger, and shall be taken.

² and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!"

¹⁹ When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand, then the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed being sown beside the road.

³¹ Another parable He set before them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field,

³³ Another parable He spoke to them: "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and mixed in with three measures of meal, until the whole was leavened."

³⁷ He answered and said to them: "He that sows the good seed is the Son of Man.

⁴⁴ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure having been hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it, he went and sold everything he had, and bought that field." ⁴⁵ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,

⁴⁷ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet having been cast into the sea, and gathering some of every kind,

²³ Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.

¹ "For the kingdom of heaven is like a certain landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.

³³ "Hear another parable: There was a certain landowner who planted a vineyard and set a hedge around it, dug a winepress in it and built a tower. And he leased it to farmers and went on a journey.

² "The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a wedding for his son,

¹ "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who having taken their lamps, went out to meet the bridegroom.

²⁶ And He said, "Thus is the kingdom of God as if a man should cast the seed on the ground, ²⁷ and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and should grow, he himself does not know how. ²⁸ For the earth produces fruit of itself: first a shoot, then a head of grain, then full wheat in the head of grain. ²⁹ But whenever the fruit permits, immediately he sends forth the sickle, because the harvest has come." ³⁰ Then He said, "To what shall we compare the kingdom of God? Or by what sort of parable shall we illustrate it?

¹⁸ Then He said, "What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it?

²⁰ Again He said, "To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?

⁵ because of the hope being laid up for you in the heavens, in which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,

²³ having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.

⁹ All you beasts of the field, come, devour, all you beasts of the forest. ¹⁰ See how they are all blinded; they have not known; they are dumb dogs that will not bark; dreaming of rest, loving to slumber.

³⁹ The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.

⁵ But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.

³⁰ Also from among you yourselves will arise men speaking things having been distorted, in order to draw away the disciples after them. ³¹ Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years, night and day I did not cease, with tears, exhorting each one.

¹³ For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. ¹⁵ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

⁴ and that was because of false brothers secretly brought in (who slipped in to spy out our freedom which we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might reduce us to slavery),

³ For there will be a time when they will not put up with sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up for themselves teachers, tickling their ears, ⁴ and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths. ⁵ You however be watchful in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

¹⁵ looking diligently lest anyone fall from the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness growing up cause trouble, and through this many be defiled;

⁸ Be sober, be watchful; your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour.

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master, the One having bought them, and bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

²⁰ But I have this against you, that you tolerate your wife Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit fornication and eat things sacrificed to idols.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

¹⁴ And he deceives my own people who dwell on the earth by the signs which were given to him to do before the Beast, saying to those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound--and came to life! -from the sword.

²⁶ And He said, "Thus is the kingdom of God as if a man should cast the seed on the ground, ²⁷ and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and should grow, he himself does not know how. ²⁸ For the earth produces fruit of itself: first a shoot, then a head of grain, then full wheat in the head of grain. ²⁹ But whenever the fruit permits, immediately he sends forth the sickle, because the harvest has come."

¹⁷ Now I urge you, brothers, to look out for those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and turn away from them.

¹¹ For it was shown to me concerning you, my brothers, by those of Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you. ¹² Now I say this, that each of you says, "I am of Paul," and "I of Apollos," and "I of Cephas," and "I of Christ." ¹³ Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord has given to each one? ⁶ I planted, Apollos watered, but God gives the increase. ⁷ So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. ⁸ Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. ⁹ For we are coworkers with God; you are God's field, you are God's building.

²⁸ And those whom God has appointed in the church are: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, kinds of tongues. ²⁹ All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?

¹² Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? ¹³ But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised. ¹⁴ And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain and your faith also is vain! ¹⁵ And we are found to be false witnesses of God, because we bore witness concerning God, that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise--if in fact the dead are not raised. ¹⁶ For if the dead are not raised, then neither has Christ been raised. ¹⁷ And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins! ¹⁸ Then also those who have died in Christ have perished. ¹⁹ If in this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. ²⁰ But now Christ has been raised from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have died. ²¹ For since by a man death came, also by a Man comes the resurrection of the dead. ²² For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all will be made alive. ²³ But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then those who belong to Christ at His coming. ²⁴ Then will be the end, when He hands over the kingdom to God, even the Father, when He abolishes every ruler and every authority and power. ²⁵ For He must reign till He puts all His enemies under His feet. ²⁶ The last enemy that will be abolished is death. ²⁷ For "He has subjected all things under His feet." But when He says that "all things have been subjected," it is evident that this is except for Him who subjected all things to Him. ²⁸ Now when all things are made subject to Him, then also the Son Himself will be subjected to Him who subjected all things to Him, in order that God may be all in all. ²⁹ Otherwise, what will they do who are being baptized for the dead, if the dead are not raised at all? Why are they also baptized for the dead? ³⁰ And why are we also in danger every hour? ³¹ I affirm, by my boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. ³² If, in the manner of men, I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what is the benefit to me? If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!" ³³ Do not be deceived: "Evil associations corrupts good habits." ³⁴ Awake to righteousness, and do not sin, for some have no knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

¹⁰ Now if Timothy comes, see to it that he may be with you without fear; for he does the work of the Lord, as I also do.

¹⁸ And all things are of God, who reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and who gave to us the ministry of this reconciliation, ¹⁹ that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not reckoning their transgressions to them, and committing to us the word of this reconciliation. ²⁰ Now then, we serve as ambassadors for Christ, as though God were appealing through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

¹ And working together with Him, we also urge that you not receive the grace of God in vain.

⁴ but in everything commending ourselves as ministers of God: in much endurance, in tribulations, in hardships, in distresses,

¹ O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you, that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was portrayed publicly among you as crucified? ² This only do I wish to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? ³ Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, will you now be made perfect in the flesh?

¹¹ And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, ¹² for the perfecting of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ,

¹⁵ This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. ¹⁶ For where jealousy and strife exist, there unrest and every evil deed are.

⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world is constituted an enemy of God.

⁴⁹ Now John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us." ⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is for us." ⁵¹ Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, ⁵² and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, so they might prepare for Him. ⁵³ But they did not receive Him, because He was determined to go to Jerusalem. ⁵⁴ And when they saw this, James and John His disciples said, "Lord, do You wish that we should call down fire from heaven and consume them, as Elijah did?"

³ For I indeed, as being absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has done this deed in this way, ⁴ in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, ⁵ deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, in order that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. ⁶ Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole batch? ⁷ Purge out the old leaven, in order that you may be a new batch of dough, since you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.

⁶ Sufficient to such a person is this punishment which was inflicted by the majority, ⁷ so that, on the contrary, you ought rather to forgive and comfort him, lest somehow such a person be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. ⁸ Therefore I appeal to you to reaffirm your love towards him. ⁹ For to this end I also wrote, so that I might put you to the test, to see if you are obedient in all things. ¹⁰ And to whom you forgive anything, I also forgive; for if indeed I have forgiven anything, the one whom I have forgiven, I have done so for your sakes in the presence of Christ, ¹¹ lest we be taken advantage of by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

¹⁴ Now we exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, encourage the discouraged, be supportive of the weak, be patient toward all.

²² And have mercy on some, making a distinction; ²³ but others save with fear, snatching them out of the fire, hating even the garment having been stained by the flesh.

²⁹ And if a man shall rise up persecuting you and seeking your life, yet shall the life of my lord be bound up in the bundle of life with the Lord God, and you shall whirl the life of your enemies as in the midst of a sling.

¹⁰ The flock that dwelt there shall be left, as a deserted flock; and the ground shall be for a long time for pasture, and there shall flocks lie down to rest. ¹¹ And after a time there shall be in it no green thing because of the grass being parched. Come here, you woman that comes from a sight; for it is a people of no understanding; therefore He that made them shall have no pity upon them, and He that formed them shall have no mercy upon them.

⁴ It is only given to the fire to be consumed; the fire consumes that which is yearly ruined of it, and it is utterly gone. Will it be useful for any work? ⁵ Not even while it is yet whole will it be useful for any work; if the fire shall have utterly consumed it, will it still be fit for work? ⁶ Therefore say, Thus says the Lord: As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given up to the fire to be consumed, so have I given up the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ⁷ And I will set My face against them; they shall go forth of the fire, and yet fire shall devour them; and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have set My face against them.

¹⁸ Then shall you return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, and between him that serves God, and him that serves Him not.

¹² whose winnowing shovel is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His threshing floor, and He will gather His wheat into the barn; but the chaff He will burn up with unquenchable fire."

³⁹ The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. ⁴⁰ Therefore just as the tares are gathered and burned with fire, thus it will be at the end of this age. ⁴¹ The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who work iniquity, ⁴² and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ⁴³ Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

¹⁰ "So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. ¹¹ But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there not dressed with wedding clothes. ¹² So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not having wedding clothes?' And he was speechless. ¹³ Then the king said to the servants, 'Tie him up hands and feet, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' ¹⁴ "For many are called, but few are chosen."

⁶ And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!' ⁷ "Then all those virgins arose, and they trimmed their lamps. ⁸ And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' ⁹ "But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for you and us; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' ¹⁰ "But as they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. ¹¹ Afterward the remaining virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!' ¹² "But he answered and said, 'Assuredly I say to you, I do not know you.' ¹³ "Watch therefore, for you do not know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

³² All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

⁴¹ "Then He will also say to those on the left, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

¹⁷ whose winnowing shovel is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into His barn; but the chaff He will burn up with unquenchable fire."

⁶ If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out like a branch and dries up; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

⁵ So then judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who also will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make clear the purposes of the hearts. Then each one's praise shall come from God.

²⁴ The sins of some men are evident beforehand, preceding them to judgment, but some also follow after.

²⁴ Another parable He set before them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man sowing good seed in his field.

²⁰ So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly I say to you, if you have faith like a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Be moved from here to there,' and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible for you.

³⁰ Then He said, "To what shall we compare the kingdom of God? Or by what sort of parable shall we illustrate it? ³¹ It is like a mustard seed, which whenever it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on the earth; ³² but whenever it is sown, it comes up and becomes greater than all the garden vegetables, and produces great branches, so that the birds of heaven are able to nest under its shade."

¹⁸ Then He said, "What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? ¹⁹ It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches."

⁶ So the Lord said, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.

¹¹ Now as they heard these things, He told another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately.

⁹ Then He began to tell the people this parable: "A man planted a vineyard, leased it to farmers, and went on a journey for a long time.

¹⁶ There shall be an establishment on the earth on the tops of the mountains; its fruit shall be exalted above Lebanon, and those of the city shall flourish as grass of the earth. ¹⁷ Let His name be blessed forever; His name shall endure longer than the sun, and all the tribes of the earth shall be blessed in Him: all nations shall call Him blessed. ¹⁸ Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, who alone does wonders. ¹⁹ And blessed is His glorious name forever, even forever and ever; and all the earth shall be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen.

¹² By them shall the birds of the sky lodge; they shall utter a voice out of the midst of the rocks.

² For in the last days the mountain of the Lord shall be glorious, and the house of God shall be on the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall come to it. ³ And many nations shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will tell us His way, and we will walk in it; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord out of Jerusalem. ⁴ And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into sickles; and nation shall not take up sword against nation, neither shall they learn to war anymore.

²³ and I will hang it on a lofty mountain of Israel: yea, I will plant it, and it shall put forth shoots, and shall bear fruit, and it shall be a great cedar. And every bird shall rest beneath it, even every fowl shall rest under its shadow; its branches shall be restored. ²⁴ And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord that bring low the high tree, and exalt the low tree, and wither the green tree, and cause the dry tree to flourish. I the Lord have spoken, and will do it.

⁶ All the birds of the sky made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches all the wild beasts of the field bred; the whole multitude of nations dwelt under his shadow.

¹ And he brought me to the entrance of the house. and behold, water issued from under the porch eastward, for the front of the house looked eastward; and the water came down from the right side, from the south to the altar. ² And he brought me out by the way of the northern gate, and he led me round by the way outside to the gate of the court that looks eastward. And behold, water came down from the right side, ³ in the direction in which a man went forth opposite; and there was a measuring line in his hand, and he measured a thousand cubits with the measure; ⁴ and he passed through the water; it was water of a fountain. And again he measured a thousand, and passed through the water; and the water was up to his thighs. And again he measured a thousand; and he passed through water up to the loins. ⁵ And again he measured a thousand; and he could not pass through, for the water rose as of a torrent which men cannot pass over.

³⁴ You saw until a stone was cut out of a mountain without hands, and it struck the image upon its feet of iron and clay, and utterly reduced them to powder. ³⁵ Then once for all the clay, the iron, the brass, the silver, and the gold were ground into powder, and became as chaff from the summer threshing floor. And the violence of the wind carried them away, and no place was found for them. And the stone which had struck the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

⁴⁴ And in the days of those kings the God of heaven shall set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and His kingdom shall not be left to another people, but it shall beat to pieces and grind to powder all other kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. ⁴⁵ Whereas you saw that a stone was cut out of a mountain without hands, and it beat to pieces the clay, the iron, the brass, the silver, and the gold; the great God has made known to the king what must happen hereafter: and the dream is true, and its interpretation is sure.

¹² its leaves were fair, and its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all; and under it the wild beasts of the field took shelter, and the birds of the sky lodged in the branches of it, and all flesh was fed by it.

¹ And at the last days the mountain of the Lord shall be manifest, established on the tops of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and the peoples shall hasten to it. ² And many nations shall go, and say, Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and they shall show us His way, and we will walk in His paths: for out of Zion shall go forth a law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. ³ And He shall judge among many peoples, and shall rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plow shares, and their spears into sickles; and nation shall no more lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn to war any more.

¹⁰ For who has despised the small days? Surely they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet of tin in the hand of Zerubbabel: these are the seven eyes that look upon all the earth.

²⁰ Thus says the Lord Almighty; Yet shall many peoples come, and the inhabitants of many cities; ²¹ and the inhabitants of five cities shall come together to one city, saying, Let us go to make supplication to the Lord, and to seek the face of the Lord Almighty; I will go also. ²² And many peoples and many nations shall come to seek earnestly the face of the Lord Almighty in Jerusalem, and to obtain the favor of the Lord. ²³ Thus says the Lord Almighty; In those days My word shall be fulfilled if ten men of all the languages of the nations should take hold — even take hold of the hem of a Jew, saying, We will go with you; for we have heard that God is with you.

⁷ and there shall be for one day cold and frost, and that day shall be known to the Lord, and it shall not be day, nor night: but towards evening it shall be light. ⁸ And in that day living water shall come forth out of Jerusalem; half of it toward the former sea, and half of it toward the latter sea: and so shall it be in summer and spring. ⁹ And the Lord shall be king over all the earth. In that day there shall be one Lord, and His name one, ¹⁰ compassing all the earth, and the wilderness from Geba unto Rimmon south of Jerusalem. And Rama shall remain in its place. From the gate of Benjamin to the place of the first gate, to the gate of the corners, and to the tower of Hananel, as far as the king's winepresses,

¹⁵ And in those days Peter, rising up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), said,

²⁰ And hearing this, they were glorifying the Lord, saying to him, "You see, brother, how many myriads of Jews there are having believed, and they are all zealous for the law;

¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ did not work out through me, in word and deed, for the obedience of the Gentiles-- ¹⁹ in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

¹⁵ Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were great voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!"

⁶ And Abraham hastened to the tent to Sarah, and said to her, Quickly, knead three measures of fine flour, and make cakes.

⁹ But let the faithful hold on his own way, and let him that is pure of hands take courage.

¹⁸ But the ways of the righteous shine like light; they go forth and shine, until the day has fully come.

³ Let us follow on to know the Lord: we shall find Him ready as the morning, and He will come to us as the early and latter rain to the earth.

²⁰ And unless the Lord had cut short the days, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the elect, whom He chose, He cut short the days. ²¹ It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until it was all leavened."

² Every branch in Me which does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch which bears fruit He prunes, so that it may bear more fruit.

¹² I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. ¹³ However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will announce to you things to come.

⁹ A little leaven leavens the whole lump.

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all perception,

¹³ for it is God who is working in you, both to will and to do for His good pleasure. ¹⁴ Do all things without grumbling and disputing, ¹⁵ in order that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine as light bearers in the world,

²³ Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. ²⁴ He who calls you is faithful, who also will do this.

¹³ Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

⁹ Behold, the ancient things have come to pass, and so will the new things which I tell you; yes, before I declare them they are made known to you.

⁷ For the Lord God will do nothing without revealing instruction to His servants the prophets.

¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which says: 'Hearing you shall hear and by no means understand, and seeing you shall see and by no means perceive.

⁴ Now all this took place so that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: ⁵ "Say to the daughter of Zion, 'Behold, your King is coming to you, humble, and sitting on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.' "

³⁴ Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

¹⁴ Nevertheless it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.

²⁴ Father, I desire that those also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, so that they may behold My glory which You gave to Me; because You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

¹⁸ "Known from everlasting to God are all His works.

^{25 (14:24)} Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began, ^{26 (14:25)} but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the eternal God, for obedience to the faith--

⁵ which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:

⁹ and to enlighten all as to what is the administration of the mystery, which had been hidden from the ages in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ;

²⁵ of which I became a minister according to the stewardship of God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God, ²⁶ the mystery which has been hidden from the ages and from generations, but now was revealed to His saints.

⁹ who having saved us, and having called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time itself, ¹⁰ but has now been revealed through the appearance of our Savior Jesus Christ, having nullified death on the one hand, and having brought to life immortality through the gospel on the other,

² in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time itself, ³ but has in due time manifested His word in a proclamation, with which I was entrusted according to the command of God our Savior;

¹ God, who in various ways and in many ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

²⁰ having been foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, He was made manifest in these last times for you, ²¹ who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

⁸ And all those who dwell on the earth shall worship him, whose name is not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

⁸ The Beast which you saw was, and is not, and is about to ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth shall marvel, whose name is not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the Beast that was, and is not, and shall be present.

¹ On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.

²² And immediately Jesus compelled the disciples to get into the boat, and to go ahead of Him to the other side, until He could dismiss the crowds.

¹⁵ Then Peter answered and said to Him, "Explain to us this parable." ¹⁶ So Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding?

³⁹ And having dismissed the crowds, He went up into the boat, and came to the region of Magdala.

³⁴ And apart from a parable He did not speak to them, however, privately to His disciples, he would explain all things.

⁴⁵ And immediately He compelled His disciples to step into the boat and to go on ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, until He could dismiss the crowd.

¹⁷ When He had entered a house away from the crowd, His disciples were asking Him about the parable.

⁹ Now those having eaten were about four thousand. And He dismissed them.

¹⁷ Then some of His disciples said to one another, "What is this that He says to us, 'A little while and you will not see Me; and again a little while and you will see Me'; and, 'I am going to the Father'?" ¹⁸ Therefore they said, "What is this that He says, 'A little while'? We do not understand what He is saying." ¹⁹ Now Jesus knew that they were desiring to ask Him, and He said to them, "Are you inquiring with one another that I said, 'A little while and you will not see Me; and again a little while and you will see Me'? ²⁰ Most assuredly I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be grieved, but your grief will be turned into joy.

²⁰ And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have dens, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."

⁴⁰ "He that receives you receives Me, and he that receives Me receives Him who sent Me.

²⁷ So the servants of the master of the house approached and said to him, 'Sir, was it not good seed you sowed in your field? From where then does it have tares?'

⁴¹ The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who work iniquity,

¹³ When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He was questioning His disciples, saying, "Who do men pronounce Me, the Son of Man, to be?" ¹⁴ So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, but others say Elijah, and yet others say Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." ¹⁵ He said to them, "But who do you pronounce Me to be?" ¹⁶ And Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

¹⁶ He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me."

²⁰ Most assuredly I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me."

²¹ Therefore Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! Just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you."

⁸ But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ did not work out through me, in word and deed, for the obedience of the Gentiles--

⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord has given to each one? ⁶ I planted, Apollos watered, but God gives the increase. ⁷ So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

³ how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which in the beginning was spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

^{15 (3:16)} And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her Seed, He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.

³⁰ And my seed shall serve him; the generation that is coming shall be reported to the Lord.

¹⁰ The Lord also is pleased to purge Him from His stroke. If you give an offering for sin, Your soul shall see a long-lived seed;

²³ And I will sow her to Me on the earth; and will love her that was not loved, and will say to that which was not My people, You are My people; and they shall say, You are the Lord my God.

⁸ I will make a sign to them, and gather them in; for I will redeem them, and they shall be multiplied according to their number before. ⁹ And I will sow them among the people, and they that are afar off shall remember Me: they shall nourish their children, and they shall return.

¹⁴ And this good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. ¹⁹ Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to all creation. ¹⁶ He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that does not believe shall be condemned. ¹⁷ And these signs shall accompany those who have believed: In My name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; ¹⁸ they shall pick up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it shall by no means hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall be well." ¹⁹ So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. ²⁰ And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

⁴⁷ and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you desire to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar, and the father of lies.

²⁴ Most assuredly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

¹⁰ he said, "O full of all guile and all craft, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?

¹⁷ And if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer together, so that we may also be glorified together.

¹⁸ But I say, have they not heard? Yes, indeed they have: "Their voice went out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world."

^{26 (14:25)} but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the eternal God, for obedience to the faith--

¹⁸ For many walk, of whom often I was speaking to you, and now even weeping I tell you, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: ¹⁹ whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame--who are mindful of earthly things.

¹⁸ Exercising His will He begat us by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers. Did God not choose the poor of the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those that love Him?

² Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.

⁸ He who practices sin is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this reason the Son of God appeared, that He might destroy the works of the devil. ⁹ No one who has been born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. ¹⁰ By this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Everyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

⁶ Then I saw an angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation, tribe, language, and people,

¹⁰ A stream of fire rushed forth before Him. Thousands upon thousands ministered to Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand attended to Him. The court was seated, and the books were opened.

¹³ Bring forth the sickles, for the vintage is come: go in, tread the grapes, for the press is full: cause the vats to overflow; for their wickedness is multiplied.

²⁵ But while the men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went away.

²⁸ "He said to them, 'An enemy did this.' So the servants said to him, 'Do you wish then that we should go and gather them up?'

⁴⁹ Thus it shall be at the end of the age: the angels shall go forth and separate the evil from among the righteous,

³ And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

³¹ "And when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then will He sit upon His glorious throne.

²⁰ teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

¹⁷ For we are not as the rest, corrupting the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.

³ But I fear, lest perhaps as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

² in which you once walked according to the age of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit which is now working in the sons of disobedience,

¹¹ Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the stratagems of the devil. ¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies.

⁷ and to give you who are being afflicted rest along with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with His mighty angels, ⁸ in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ These shall pay a penalty--eternal destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His might, ¹⁰ whenever He comes, in that Day, to be glorified among His saints and to be marveled among all those having believed, because our testimony among you was believed.

⁸ And then the lawless one will be unveiled, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth, and will destroy by the brightness of His coming, ⁹ whose coming is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,

²⁶ since it would have been necessary for Him to suffer often from the foundation of the world; but now, once at the consummation of the ages, He has been revealed for the removal of sin through the sacrifice of Himself.

¹⁴ Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints,

¹⁵ And another angel came out of the temple, crying out with a loud voice to Him that sat on the cloud, "Thrust in Your sickle and reap, because the time has come to reap, because the harvest of the earth has withered." ¹⁶ So He that sat on the cloud swung His sickle onto the earth, and the earth was harvested. ¹⁷ Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. ¹⁸ And another angel came out from the altar, having authority over the fire, and he called with a loud cry to the one having the sharp sickle, saying, "Thrust in your sharp sickle and gather the grape clusters of the vine of the earth, because the grapes are ripe." ¹⁹ So the angel threw out his sickle to the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and he threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

²⁰ Then the Beast was apprehended, and with him the False Prophet who had performed the signs before him, by which he had deceived those who received the mark of the Beast and those who worshipped his image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

² And he seized the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, he who deceives the whole world, and he bound him for a thousand years; ³ and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and locked and sealed it over him, so that he should deceive the nations no more until the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a short time.

⁷ Now after the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison, ⁸ and he will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war, whose number is like the sand of the sea. ⁹ They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. ¹⁰ And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone where also the Beast and the False Prophet are. And they shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.

³ Let man and cattle be cut off; let the birds of the air and the fish of the sea be cut off; and the ungodly shall fail, and I will take away the transgressors from the face of the land, says the Lord.

⁷ Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man through whom the offense comes!

³¹ And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

²⁷ And then He will send His angels, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from the extremity of earth to the extremity of heaven.

²⁶ Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.' ²⁷ But He will say, 'I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.'

⁸ But to those who are contentious, and who disobey the truth, but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath, ⁹ ~ tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that works evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;

¹⁶ in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men according to my gospel through Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ Now I urge you, brothers, to look out for those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and turn away from them. ¹⁸ For such people do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and through smooth speech and flattering, they deceive the hearts of the innocent.

⁶ But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: "Let all the angels of God worship Him." ⁷ And on the one hand he says to the angels, "He who makes His angels spirits and His ministers flames of fire."

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits being sent out to minister for the sake of those who are about to inherit salvation?

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master, the One having bought them, and bringing upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many will follow after their debaucheries, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.

¹¹ Then I looked, and I heard as it were the voice of many angels around the throne, and the living beings, and the elders. And the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and a thousand thousands, ¹² saying with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive the power and the wealth and wisdom and strength, and honor and glory and blessing!"

²⁷ But there shall by no means enter into it any common thing, and the one doing an abomination and a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

⁹ You shall make them as a fiery oven at the time of Your presence; the Lord shall trouble them in His anger, and fire shall devour them.

⁶ And whosoever shall not fall down and worship, in the same hour he shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace.

¹⁵ Now then, if you are ready, whenever you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, harmony, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the golden image which I have made, fine; but if you will not worship, in the same hour you shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace; and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hand? ¹⁶ Then Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego answered and said to King Nebuchadnezzar, We have no need to answer you concerning this matter. ¹⁷ For our God whom we serve is in the heavens, able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He shall rescue us from your hands, O king.

²¹ Then those men were bound with their coats, caps, and trousers, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace, ²² forasmuch as the king's word prevailed; and the furnace was made exceedingly hot.

¹² but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

⁵⁰ and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

¹³ Then the king said to the servants, 'Tie him up hands and feet, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

⁴³ If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It would be better for you to enter into life maimed, than to enter having two hands, to go into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched-- ⁴⁴ where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' ⁴⁵ "And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It would be better for you to enter into life lame, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched-- ⁴⁶ where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' ⁴⁷ "And if your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out. It would be better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into the fiery hell, ⁴⁸ where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' ⁴⁹ "For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.

²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being cast out.

²³ And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am suffering in this flame.'

² And he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a burning furnace. And the sun was darkened, and the air, from the smoke of the shaft.

¹⁰ then he shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out undiluted in the cup of His wrath. And they shall be tormented with fire and brimstone before the holy angels and before the Lamb.

¹⁰ And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone where also the Beast and the False Prophet are. And they shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.

¹⁴ Then Death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death, the Lake of Fire. ¹⁵ And if anyone was not found having been written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the Lake of Fire.

⁸ But the cowardly, and unbelieving, and sinners, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and drug users, and idolaters, and all who are false shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

³ And the wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and some of the many righteous as the stars forever and ever.

³⁶ I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.'

²⁹ But I say to you, that I will by no means drink of this fruit of the vine from now on, until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom."

³² Do not fear, little flock, because your Father is well pleased to give to you the kingdom.

²⁹ And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me,

⁴¹ There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. ⁴² So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. ⁴³ It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. ⁴⁴ It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. ⁴⁵ Thus also it is written, "The first man Adam became a living soul;" the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. ⁴⁶ However, that which is spiritual is not first, but that which is natural, then that which is spiritual. ⁴⁷ The first man was from earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. ⁴⁸ Like the man made of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. ⁴⁹ And just as we have borne the image of the man made of dust, let us also bear the image of the heavenly Man. ⁵⁰ Now this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor can corruption inherit incorruption. ⁵¹ Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all die, but we shall all be changed-- ⁵² in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. ⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. ⁵⁴ So when this corruptible should put on incorruption, and this mortal should put on immortality, then will come to pass the word which was written: "Death was swallowed up in victory."

⁵⁸ So then, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

³ And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He shall dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them. ⁴ And He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying out; neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away." ⁵ Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are faithful and true."

²² But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty is its temple, also the Lamb. ²³ The city had no need of the sun nor of the moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

² your ear shall hearken to wisdom; you shall also apply your heart to understanding, and shall apply it to the instruction of your son. ³ For if you shall call to wisdom, and utter your voice for understanding; ⁴ and if you shall seek it as silver, and search diligently for it as for treasures; ⁵ then shall you understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

¹⁶ The brood of wisdom is more to be chosen than gold, and the brood of prudence more to be chosen than silver.

¹ A man who wishes to separate from friends seeks excuses, but at all times he will be liable to reproach.

¹ You that thirst, go to the water, and all that have no money, go and buy; and eat and drink wine and milk without money or price.

²¹ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

²¹ Jesus said to him, "If you desire to be perfect, go, sell your belongings and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

²⁷ Then Peter answered and said to Him, "See, we have left all and followed You. What then shall we have?"

²⁹ And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.

³³ So likewise, every one of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be My disciple.

²³ But when he heard this, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. ²⁴ And when Jesus saw that he became very sad, He said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!

⁶ So he hurried and came down, and received Him, rejoicing. ⁷ But when they saw it, they all were complaining, saying, "He has gone to be a guest with a sinful man." ⁸ Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my possessions to the poor; and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I restore fourfold."

³⁵ And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

⁴⁴ Now all who believed were together, and they had all things in common, ⁴⁵ and they were selling their possessions and goods, and were dividing them among all, to the degree that anyone had a need. ⁴⁶ So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were sharing food with joy and simplicity of heart, ⁴⁷ praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to the church daily those who were being saved.

³² Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things belonging to him was his own, but they had all things in common. ³³ And with great power the apostles were giving forth their witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. ³⁴ Nor was there anyone needy among them; for all who were owners of lands or houses were selling them, and were bringing the proceeds of the things which had been sold, ³⁵ and were placing them beside the feet of the apostles; and they were distributing to each, to the degree that anyone had need.

⁴ For as many things as were previously written, were written for our own instruction, that through the patience and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we may have hope.

⁷ But such things as were gain to me, these I have considered loss for the sake of Christ. ⁸ More than that I also consider all things to be loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have sustained the loss of all things, and I consider them to be rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ ⁹ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

³ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

³ For you died, and your life has been hidden with Christ in God. ⁴ Whenever Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

³⁴ For you sympathized with me in my chains, and you received the plunder of your possessions with joy, knowing that you have for yourselves a better and enduring possession in heaven.

²⁴ By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called a son of Pharaoh's daughter, ²⁵ choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to have the temporary pleasure of sin, ²⁶ regarding the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.

¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from Me gold having been tried by fire, so that you may become rich; and white robes, so that you may be clothed, and the shame of your nakedness may not appear; and eye salve, so that you may anoint your eyes, in order that you may see.

¹⁸ Coral and fine pearl shall not be mentioned, but do you esteem wisdom above the most precious things.

⁶ Many say, Who will show us good things? The light of Your countenance, O Lord, has been manifested towards us. ⁷ You have put gladness into my heart: they have been satisfied with the fruit of their grain and wine and oil.

⁶ Surely man walks in a shadow; nay, he is disquieted in vain; he lays up treasures, and knows not for whom he shall gather them. ⁷ And now what is my expectation? Is it not the Lord? And my ground of hope is with You. Pause.

¹³ Blessed is the man who has found wisdom, and the mortal who knows prudence. ¹⁴ For it is better to traffic for her, than for treasures of gold and silver. ¹⁵ And she is more valuable than precious stones: no evil thing shall resist her. She is well known to all that approach her, and no precious thing is equal to her in value. ¹⁶ For length of days and years of life are in her right hand, and in her left hand are wealth and glory. ^(3:16A) Out of her mouth proceeds righteousness, and she carries law and mercy upon her tongue. ¹⁷ Her ways are good ways, and all her paths are peaceful. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to all that lay hold of her, and she is a secure help to all that stay themselves on her, as on the Lord.

¹⁰ Receive instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. ¹¹ For wisdom is better than precious stones; and no valuable substance is of equal worth with it.

¹⁸ Wealth and glory belong to me; yea, abundant possessions and righteousness. ¹⁹ It is better to have my fruit than to have gold and precious stones; and my produce is better than choice silver. ²⁰ I walk in ways of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment;

² I said to laughter — Madness! And to mirth, Why do you do this? ³ And I examined whether my heart would excite my flesh as with wine, (though my heart guided me in wisdom,) and I desired to lay hold of mirth, until I should see of what kind is the good to the sons of men, which they should do under the sun all the days of their life. ⁴ I enlarged my work; I built myself houses; I planted myself vineyards. ⁵ I made for myself gardens and orchards, and planted in them every kind of fruit tree. ⁶ I made myself pools of water, to water from them the timber-bearing wood. ⁷ I acquired servants and maidens, and servants were born to me in the house. Also I had abundant possessions of flocks and herds, beyond all who were before me in Jerusalem. ⁸ Moreover I collected for myself both silver and gold, and the peculiar treasures of kings and provinces. I procured for myself singing men and singing women, and delights of the sons of men, a butler and female cupbearers. ⁹ So I became great, and advanced beyond all that were before in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom was established to me. ¹⁰ And whatever my eyes desired, I withheld not from them, I withheld not my heart from all my mirth; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor; and this was my portion of all my labor. ¹¹ And I looked on all my works which my hands had done, and on my labor which I labored to perform, and behold, all was vanity and grasping for the wind, and there is no advantage under the sun. ¹² Then I looked on to see wisdom, and madness, and folly: for who is the man who will follow after counsel, in all things where in he employs it?

⁸ Vanity of vanities, said the Preacher; all is vanity.

¹³ Hear the end of the matter, the sum: Fear God, and keep His commandments; for this is man's all.

²⁶ For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give as an exchange for his soul?

⁵ "But not caring, they went away, one to his own field, another to his business.

⁴ and if you shall seek it as silver, and search diligently for it as for treasures;

⁶ They shall be delivered up to the law; our salvation is our treasure; there is wisdom and knowledge and godliness toward the Lord; these are the treasures of righteousness.

⁴⁴ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure having been hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it, he went and sold everything he had, and bought that field."

²⁸ Then Peter began to say to Him, "See, we have left all things and have followed You." ²⁹ So Jesus answered and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields, for My sake and for the sake of the gospel, ³⁰ who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time--houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and fields, along with persecutions--and in the age to come, eternal life. ³¹ But many who are first shall be last, and the last first."

²⁸ Then Peter said, "See, we have left all and followed You." ²⁹ So He said to them, "Assuredly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, ³⁰ who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life."

²⁴ But I count myself as nothing; nor do I regard my life as valuable to myself, so that I may complete my course with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to bear solemn testimony to the gospel of the grace of God.

²¹ Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours: ²² whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come-all things are yours. ²³ And you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.

¹⁴ But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

¹¹ And this is the testimony: that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. ¹² He that has the Son has life; he that does not have the Son of God does not have life.

²¹ The twelve gates are twelve pearls: each one of the gates was made of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

¹⁹ Then He said to them, "Come after Me, and I will make you fishers of men.

²⁶ But when the stalk had sprouted and produced fruit, then the tares also appeared. ²⁷ So the servants of the master of the house approached and said to him, 'Sir, was it not good seed you sowed in your field? From where then does it have tares?' ²⁸ "He said to them, 'An enemy did this.' So the servants said to him, 'Do you wish then that we should go and gather them up?' ²⁹ "But he said, 'No, lest gathering up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. ³⁰ Leave both to grow together until the harvest; and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares, and bind them into bundles to burn them, but gather together the wheat into my barn." ' "

⁹ Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.' ¹⁰ "So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.

¹ "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who having taken their lamps, went out to meet the bridegroom. ² Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. ³ Those who were foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them, ⁴ but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

¹⁷ Then Jesus said to them, "Come after Me, and I will make you become fishers of men."

¹⁰ And likewise also it gripped James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not fear; from now on you shall be catching men."

²¹ So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.' ²² And the servant said, 'Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.' ²³ Then the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the roads and hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled.

¹ But a certain man named Ananias, together with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. ² And he kept back for himself from the price, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and placed it beside the feet of the apostles. ³ But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart for you to lie to the Holy Spirit, and for you to keep back for yourself from the price of the land? ⁴ While it remained unsold, did it not remain yours? And after it was sold, was it not in your control? Why have you purposed this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." ⁵ Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and died. And great fear came upon all those hearing these things. ⁶ And the young men rose up and covered him up, carried him out, and buried him. ⁷ And it happened about three hours later, that his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in. ⁸ And Peter answered her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?" She said, "Yes, for so much." ⁹ Then Peter said to her, "Why is it that it was agreed by you to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they shall carry you out." ¹⁰ Then immediately she fell down beside his feet and died. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her with her husband.

¹⁸ Now when Simon observed that by the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, ¹⁹ saying, "Give me this power also, that on whom ever I lay my hands he may receive the Holy Spirit." ²⁰ But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought to acquire the gift of God through money! ²¹ You have neither part nor portion in this word, for your heart is not straight before God. ²² Repent therefore from this your wickedness, and make petition to God, if perhaps the intent of your heart will be forgiven you.

³⁰ Also from among you yourselves will arise men speaking things having been distorted, in order to draw away the disciples after them.

¹ It is actually heard that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not even named among the Gentiles--that a man has his father's wife! ² And you are puffed up, and have not rather grieved, so that he who did this deed would be removed from your midst. ³ For I indeed, as being absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has done this deed in this way, ⁴ in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, ⁵ deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, in order that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. ⁶ Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole batch?

¹ Now I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, ² and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, ³ and all ate the same spiritual food, ⁴ and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they were drinking from that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. ⁵ But with the majority of them God was not pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. ⁶ Now these things became examples for us, in order that we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. ⁷ Nor be idolaters, just as some of them; as it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play." ⁸ Nor let us commit fornication, just as some of them fornicated, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell; ⁹ nor let us tempt Christ, just as also some of them tempted Him, and were destroyed by the serpents; ¹⁰ nor murmer, just as also some of them murmered, and were destroyed by the destroyer. ¹¹ Now all these things happened to those people as examples, and they were written for our instruction, to whom the ends of the ages have come. ¹² So then, let him who thinks he stands take heed, lest he should fall!

¹⁹ For there must also be sects among you, in order that those who are approved may become recognized among you.

²⁶ In journeys often, in dangers of rivers, in dangers of robbers, in dangers from my own race, in dangers from the Gentiles, in dangers in the city, in dangers in the wilderness, in dangers in the sea, in dangers among false brothers;

²⁰ For I am afraid, lest perhaps when I come, I will not find you as I desire, and that I will be found by you as you do not desire; lest perhaps there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, disputes, slanders, gossipings, pride, disorders; ²¹ lest, when I come again, my God will humble me before you, and I will mourn for many who have previously sinned and have not repented for the impurity and fornication and lewdness which they practiced.

² For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, not loving what is good, ⁴ traitors, headstrong, having been puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁵ having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from these people turn away!

³ For there will be a time when they will not put up with sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up for themselves teachers, tickling their ears, ⁴ and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths.

⁹ holding fast to the faithful word as he was taught, that he may be able to exhort by sound doctrine, and to convince those who oppose it. ¹⁰ For there are also many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, ¹¹ whom it is necessary to shut their mouths, who overturn whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain.

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master, the One having bought them, and bringing upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many will follow after their debaucheries, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. ³ And by covetousness they will exploit you with fabricated words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction will not sleep.

¹³ receiving the wages of unrighteousness, counting as a pleasure to revel in the daytime, they are spots and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions while they feast with you, ¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart having been trained in greediness, they are accursed children. ¹⁵ They have left behind the straight way and gone astray, having followed after the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; ¹⁶ but he was rebuked for his own lawlessness: a dumb donkey speaking with the voice of a man restrained the madness of the prophet. ¹⁷ These are waterless wells, clouds being driven by a storm, for whom the darkness of the netherworld has been reserved forever. ¹⁸ For when they speak haughty words of emptiness, they entice through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, those who are escaping from those who are living in error, ¹⁹ promising to them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom anyone has been defeated, by this one also he has been enslaved. ²⁰ For if having escaped from the corruptions of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, yet by these, having become entangled they are defeated, the latter end has become worse for them than the first. ²¹ For it was better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than knowing it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But it has happened to them according to the saying of the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "A sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire."

¹⁸ Little children, it is the last hour; and just as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour. ¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out in order that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. ² By this the Spirit of God is known: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, ³ and every spirit which does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard that it is coming, and now is already in the world. ⁴ You are of God, little children, and you have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. ⁵ They are of the world: on account of this they speak of the world, and the world hears them. ⁶ We are of God. He that knows God hears us; he that is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

⁴ For certain men have crept in unawares, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, changing the grace of our God into licentiousness and denying the only Master God and our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁵ But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

¹ "And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, 'These things says He that has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: "I know your works, that you have a name, that you live, and you are dead.

¹⁵ "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. ¹⁶ Therefore, since you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth. ¹⁷ Because you say, 'I am wealthy, and have become rich, and have need of nothing'--and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked,

³⁰ Leave both to grow together until the harvest; and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares, and bind them into bundles to burn them, but gather together the wheat into my barn." ' "

⁵ But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. ⁶ And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!' ⁷ "Then all those virgins arose, and they trimmed their lamps. ⁸ And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' ⁹ "But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for you and us; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' ¹⁰ "But as they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. ¹¹ Afterward the remaining virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!' ¹² "But he answered and said, 'Assuredly I say to you, I do not know you.'

¹⁹ Then after much time, the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. ²⁰ And the one who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I gained five more talents besides them.' ²¹ "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' ³¹ "And when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then will He sit upon His glorious throne. ³² All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. ³³ And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on His left.

¹² And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened the books. And another Book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged by the things having been written in the books, according to their works. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to their works.

⁴² and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁵⁰ the master of that servant will come on a day which he does not expect, and in an hour which he does not know, ⁵¹ and he will cut him in two, and will appoint his share with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

²⁷ But He will say, 'I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.' ²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being cast out.

¹⁰ then he shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out undiluted in the cup of His wrath. And they shall be tormented with fire and brimstone before the holy angels and before the Lamb. ¹¹ And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, those who worship the Beast and his image, and anyone who receives the mark of his name."

¹⁰ Then the fifth one poured out his bowl on the throne of the Beast, and his kingdom became darkened; and they gnawed their tongues from the pain. ¹¹ They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their ulcers, and they did not repent of their works.

¹⁷ Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach, and is cast out into a latrine?

¹¹ How is it you do not perceive that I did not speak to you about bread, but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?"

¹⁵ "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand),

¹⁸ So He said to them, "Are you also without understanding? Do you not understand that everything entering a man from outside cannot defile him,

⁴⁴ Let these words sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men." ⁴⁵ But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them so that they did not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this saying.

³⁰ And Phillip, running up to it, heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, "Indeed, do you know what you are reading?" ³¹ And he said, "How can I, if not someone guides me?" And he urged Philip to come up and sit with him.

⁶ this Ezra came up out of Babylon; and he was a skilled scribe in the Law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given. And the king granted him leave, for the hand of the Lord his God was upon him in all things which he sought.

¹⁰ For Ezra had determined in his heart to seek the law, and to do and teach the ordinances and judgments in Israel.

²¹ and from me, whatever seems good to you to give. I, King Artaxerxes have made a decree for all the treasuries that are in the country beyond the river, that whatever Ezra the priest and scribe of the God of heaven may require of you, let it be done diligently,

²⁰ The tongue of the just is choice silver, but the heart of the ungodly shall fail. ²¹ The lips of the righteous know sublime truths, but the foolish die in want.

³⁰ Out of the fruit of righteousness grows a tree of life, but the souls of transgressors are cut off before their time.

⁷ The lips of the wise are bound by discretion, but the hearts of the foolish are not safe.

²⁰ He who is skillful in business finds good, but he that trusts in God is most blessed. ²¹ Men call the wise and understanding evil, but they that are pleasing in speech shall hear more. ²² Understanding is a fountain of life to its possessors, but the instruction of fools is evil. ²³ The heart of the wise will discern the things which proceed from his own mouth, and on his lips he will wear knowledge. ²⁴ Good words are like honeycombs, and the sweetness thereof is a healing of the soul.

⁴ A word in the heart of a man is a deep water, and a river and fountain of life spring forth.

¹⁷ Incline your ear to the words of wise men; hear also my word, and apply your heart, ¹⁸ that you may know that they are good, and if you take them to heart, they shall also gladden you on your lips;

⁹ And because the Preacher was wise above others, so it was that he taught men excellent knowledge, and the ear will trace out the parables. ¹⁰ The Preacher sought diligently to find out acceptable words, and a correct writing, even words of truth. ¹¹ The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails firmly fastened, which have been given from one shepherd by agreement.

¹³ The mandrakes have given a smell, and at our doors are all kinds of choice fruits, new and old. O my kinsman, I have kept them for you.

³⁵ A good man out of his good treasure brings forth good things, and an evil man out of his evil treasure brings forth evil things.

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and you will crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and you will persecute from city to city,

⁴⁹ Therefore the wisdom of God also said, 'I will send to them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,'

³⁴ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

⁴ And we have such trust through Christ toward God. ⁵ Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to consider anything as from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, ⁶ who also has made us efficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit makes alive.

⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ Because it is God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. ⁷ But we have this treasure in clay vessels, so that the extraordinary character of the power may be of God and not of us;

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

⁴ with reference to which, when you read, you can understand my insight in the mystery of Christ,

⁷ just as also you learned from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ for you,

⁶ not a new convert, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.

¹⁵ but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how it is necessary to conduct oneself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth. ¹⁶ And confessedly, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, and was received up in glory.

¹⁶ All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, ¹⁷ that the man of God may be proficient, having been thoroughly equipped for every good work.

⁹ holding fast to the faithful word as he was taught, that he may be able to exhort by sound doctrine, and to convince those who oppose it.

⁶ Likewise exhort the young men to be sensible, ⁷ in all respects showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, dignity, incorruptibility,

⁷ Brothers, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. ⁸ Again, a new commandment I am writing to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines.

²⁸ And so it was, when Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at His teaching,

³³ And by many such parables He would speak the word to them, just as they were able to hear it. ³⁴ And apart from a parable He did not speak to them, however, privately to His disciples, he would explain all things. ³⁵ On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Let us go across to the other side."

²² I will declare Your name to My brothers; in the midst of the church will I sing praise to You.

⁹ I have preached righteousness in the great congregation; lo! I will not refrain my lips; O Lord, You know my righteousness. ¹⁰ I have not hid Your truth within my heart, and I have declared Your salvation; I have not hid Your mercy and Your truth from the great congregation.

²³ And when he arrived, he settled down in a city called Nazareth, so that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, "He would be called a Nazarene."

¹ Then He went out from there and came to His hometown, and His disciples followed Him. ² And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many when they heard were astonished, saying, "Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, and such miracles are coming about by His hands? ³ Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?" And they were offended at Him. ⁴ But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own hometown, and among his relatives, and in his own house." ⁵ and He could do no miracle there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. ⁶ And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.

¹⁶ And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He entered into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and He stood up to read. ¹⁷ And the book of Isaiah the prophet was given to Him. And having unrolled the scroll, He found the place where it was written: ¹⁸ "The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; ¹⁹ To preach the acceptable year of the LORD." ²⁰ And having rolled up the scroll, when He had given it to the attendant, He sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were looking intently at Him. ²¹ And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your ears." ²² And all were bearing witness to Him, and were marveling at the gracious words which came out of His mouth. And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?" ²³ He said to them, "You will surely say this proverb to Me, 'Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your hometown.' " ²⁴ Then He said, "Assuredly I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown. ²⁵ But I tell you truly, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine all over the land; ²⁶ but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a widow woman. ²⁷ And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian." ²⁸ So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, ²⁹ and rising up they threw Him out of the city; and brought Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, in order to throw Him down. ³⁰ But having passed through the midst of them, He went on.

¹¹ He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

¹⁵ And the Jews were marveling, saying, "How is this Man learned, since He has not been educated?" ¹⁶ Therefore Jesus answered them and said, "My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me.

¹³ Now when they observed the boldness of Peter and John, and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

⁴⁶ But Paul and Barnabas, speaking boldly said, "It was necessary for the word of God to be spoken to you first; but since you thrust it away, and judge yourselves not worthy of eternal life; behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

¹⁷ And it came to pass after three days that Paul called together those who were prominent among the Jews; and when they had come together, he said to them: "Men, brothers, though I have done nothing against the people or the customs of our forefathers, yet I was handed over as a prisoner from Jerusalem, into the hands of the Romans, ¹⁸ who, when they had examined me, were wanting to release me because there was no cause for my case. ¹⁹ But when the Jews spoke in opposition, I was compelled to appeal to Caesar, not that I had anything of which to accuse my nation. ²⁰ Therefore for this reason I have requested you, to see and to speak to you, for because of the hope of Israel I am wearing this chain." ²¹ Then they said to him, "We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor have any of the brothers who arrived report or speak anything evil about you. ²² But we request to hear from you the things which you think; for concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against." ²³ And having appointed for him a day, many came to him at his house, to whom he was explaining and solemnly testifying to the kingdom of God, and persuading them of the things concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning till evening. ²⁴ And some were persuaded by the things being said, but others refused to believe. ²⁵ And being in disagreement with one another, they went away after Paul had said one word: "The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers, ²⁶ saying, 'Go to this people and say: "Hearing you will hear, and by no means understand; and seeing you shall see, and by no means perceive; ²⁷ For the hearts of this people has become dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and they should hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their heart and turn back, so that I should heal them." ' ²⁸ "Therefore let it be known to you that the salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear it!"

⁶ But I am a worm, and not a man; a reproach of men, and the scorn of the people.

⁷ Thus says the Lord that delivered you, the God of Israel, Sanctify him that despises his life, him that is abhorred by the nations that are the servants of princes; kings shall behold him, and princes shall arise, and shall worship him, for the Lord's sake; for the Holy One of Israel is faithful, and I have chosen you.

² We brought a report as of a child before Him; He is as a root in a thirsty land; He has no form, nor comeliness; and we saw Him, but He had no form nor beauty. ³ But His form was ignoble, and inferior to that of the children of men; He was a man in suffering, and acquainted with the bearing of sickness, for His face has turned from us; He was dishonored, and not esteemed.

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was like this: After His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found pregnant by the Holy Spirit. ¹⁹ Then Joseph her husband, being righteous and not wanting to make her a public example, purposed to put her away secretly. ²⁰ But while he was thinking about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take unto you Mary your wife, for that which is begotten in her is of the Holy Spirit.

⁴⁶ And while He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. ⁴⁷ Then one said to Him, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You." ⁴⁸ But He answered and said to him that told Him, "Who is My mother? And who are My brothers?"

⁵⁶ among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

³ Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?" And they were offended at Him.

⁴⁰ There were also women looking on from a distance, among whom were both Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome,

⁴⁷ And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses were observing where He was placed.

²⁷ to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary.

⁵ to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was pregnant. ⁶ So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to bear. ⁷ And she bore her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

²³ Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as it was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli,

²² And all were bearing witness to Him, and were marveling at the gracious words which came out of His mouth. And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"

¹⁰ It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the rest with them, who told these things to the apostles.

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found the One about whom Moses wrote in the Law, and the Prophets--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."

⁴² And they were saying, "Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does this Man say, 'I have come down from heaven'?"

⁴¹ Others said, "This is the Christ." Others said, "But the Christ is not coming out of Galilee, is He? ⁴² Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the village of Bethlehem, where David was?"

²⁹ We know that God has spoken to Moses; but as for this Man, we do not know where He is from."

²⁵ Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

¹⁹ But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the brother of the Lord.

¹⁴ And if you shall trust in Him, He shall be to you for a sanctuary; and you shall not come against Him as against a stumbling stone, neither as against the falling of a rock; but the houses of Jacob are in a snare, and those who dwell in Jerusalem are in a pit.

³ But His form was ignoble, and inferior to that of the children of men; He was a man in suffering, and acquainted with the bearing of sickness, for His face has turned from us; He was dishonored, and not esteemed.

¹⁴ And King Herod heard, for His name became well known. And he said, "John the Baptizer has been raised from the dead, and for this reason the miracles are at work in him."

³⁴ Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against ³⁵ (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."

²⁴ Then He said, "Assuredly I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown.

²³ And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me."

⁴⁴ For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

⁶¹ And Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples were murmuring about this, He said to them, "Does this offend you?

²² For Moses said to the fathers, 'The LORD our God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brothers. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. ²³ 'And it shall be that every person who does not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.'

³⁷ "This is that Moses who said to the sons of Israel, 'The LORD our God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brothers. ³⁸ This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who was speaking to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us, ³⁹ whom our fathers did not desire to be obedient, but they rejected him and returned in their heart back to Egypt,

⁵¹ "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, you also do. ⁵² Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold about the coming of the Righteous One, of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers,

²³ but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness, ²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. ²⁵ Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. ²⁶ For you see your calling, brothers, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many powerful, not many noble, are called. ²⁷ But God chose the foolish things of the world in order that He might humiliate the wise, and God chose the weak things of the world in order that He might humiliate the mighty. ²⁸ And the base things of the world, and the things having been despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, in order that He might nullify the things which are,

²⁰ Well said. By unbelief they were broken off, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but fear.

¹² Take heed, brothers, lest there be in anyone of you a wicked heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; ¹³ but encourage yourselves every day, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. ¹⁴ For we have become partakers of Christ, if indeed we hold fast the beginning of the assurance firm until the end, ¹⁵ while it is said: "Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion." ¹⁶ For some, having heard, did provoke: but not all who came out of Egypt through Moses. ¹⁷ And with whom was He indignant forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? ¹⁸ And to whom did He swear that they would not enter into His rest, except to those who disobeyed? ¹⁹ And we see that they were not able to enter on account of unbelief.

⁶ Therefore since it remains for some to enter into it, and those formerly having the gospel preached to them did not enter on account of disobedience, ⁷ again He appoints a certain day, saying in David, "Today," after such a time, just as it has been said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts." ⁸ For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not have spoken afterward of another day. ⁹ Then there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. ¹⁰ For he who has entered into His rest also rested himself from his works, as God did from His own. ¹¹ Let us therefore be diligent to enter into that rest, lest anyone falls in the same example of disobedience.
