⁵⁰ the master of that servant will come on a day which he does not expect, and in an hour which he does not know,

¹ A reprover is better than a stiff-necked man, for when the latter is suddenly set on fire, there shall be no remedy.

⁴² Watch therefore, for you do not know in what hour your Lord is coming. ⁴³ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have kept watch, and he would not have allowed his house to be broken into. ⁴⁴ Therefore you also be ready, for in that hour you think not, the Son of Man comes.

² For you yourselves know accurately that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. ³ For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, just as labor pains upon the woman that is pregnant, and they shall by no means escape.

³ Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you like a thief, and by no means shall you know what hour I will come upon you.
