¹ My son, if you will receive the utterance of my commandment, and hide it within you; ² your ear shall hearken to wisdom; you shall also apply your heart to understanding, and shall apply it to the instruction of your son. ³ For if you shall call to wisdom, and utter your voice for understanding; ⁴ and if you shall seek it as silver, and search diligently for it as for treasures; ⁵ then shall you understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His presence come knowledge and understanding, ⁷ and He treasures up salvation for them that walk uprightly: He will protect their way; ⁸ that He may guard the righteous ways: and He will preserve the way of them that fear Him. ⁹ Then shall you understand righteousness and judgment, equity and every good path. ¹⁰ For if wisdom shall come into your understanding, and discernment shall seem pleasing to your soul, ¹¹ then good counsel shall guard you, and holy understanding shall keep you; ¹² to deliver you from the evil way, and from the man that speaks nothing faithfully. ¹³ Alas for those who forsake right paths, to walk in ways of darkness; ¹⁴ who rejoice in evils, and delight in wicked perverseness; ¹⁵ whose paths are crooked, and their courses winding; ¹⁶ to remove you far from the straight way, and to estrange you from a righteous purpose. My son, let not evil counsel overtake you, ¹⁷ of her who has forsaken the instruction of her youth, and has forgotten the covenant of God. ¹⁸ For she has fixed her house near death, and guided her wheels near Hades with the giants. ¹⁹ None that go by her shall return, neither shall they take hold of right paths, for they have not apprehended of the years of life. ²⁰ For had they gone in good paths, they would have easily found the paths of righteousness. ²¹ For the upright shall dwell in the earth, and the holy shall be left behind in it. ²² The paths of the ungodly shall perish out of the earth, and transgressors shall be driven away from it.

⁶ And these words, all that I command you this day, shall be in your heart and in your soul. ⁷ And you shall teach them to your children, and you shall speak of them sitting in the house, and walking by the way, and lying down, and rising up. ⁸ And you shall fasten them for a sign upon your hand, and it shall be immovable before your eyes. ⁹ And you shall write them on the lintels of your houses and of your gates.

¹² neither shall I transgress; but I have hid His words in my bosom.

⁹ How shall a young man direct his way? By keeping Your words. ¹⁰ With my whole heart have I diligently sought You; cast me not away from Your commandments. ¹¹ I have hidden Your oracles in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

³ to receive also hard sayings, and to understand true justice, and how to direct judgment;

¹ My son, forget not my laws, but let your heart keep my words:

¹ Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, and give attention to know understanding.

¹⁰ Hear, my son, and receive my words, and the years of your life shall be increased, that the resources of your life may be many.

²⁰ My son, attend to my speech, and incline your ear to my words, ²¹ that your fountains may not fail you; keep them in your heart. ²² For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

²¹ but bind them upon your soul continually, and hang them as a chain about your neck.

¹ My son, keep my words, and hide my commandments with you. ^(7:2) My son, honor the Lord, and you shall be strong; and fear none but Him.

⁴⁴ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure having been hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it, he went and sold everything he had, and bought that field."

¹⁹ But Mary treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart.

⁵¹ Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And His mother kept all these things in her heart.

⁴⁴ Let these words sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men."

⁴⁷ And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world. ⁴⁸ He that rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word which I spoke, that word will judge him in the last day.

¹⁵ Faithful is this word, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first.

¹² And who knows how to number his days because of the fear of Your wrath? So manifest Your right hand, and those that are instructed in wisdom in the heart.

¹¹¹ I have inherited Your testimonies forever; for they are the joy of my heart. ¹¹² I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes forever, in return for Your mercies.

¹ A man who wishes to separate from friends seeks excuses, but at all times he will be liable to reproach.

¹⁷ Incline your ear to the words of wise men; hear also my word, and apply your heart, ¹⁸ that you may know that they are good, and if you take them to heart, they shall also gladden you on your lips; ¹⁹ that your hope may be in the Lord, and He may make your way known to you. ²⁰ And record them repeatedly for yourself on the table of your heart, for counsel and knowledge. ²¹ I therefore teach you truth, and knowledge good to hear, that you may answer words of truth to them that question you.

¹² Apply your heart to instruction, and prepare your ears for words of discretion.

²⁵ I and my heart went round about to know, and to examine, and to seek wisdom, and the account of things, and to know the folly and trouble and madness of the ungodly man.

⁹ So I saw all this, and I applied my heart to every work that has been done under the sun; all the things in which man has power over man, to afflict him.

¹⁶ On this I set my heart to know wisdom, and to perceive the trouble that was done upon the earth; even though one sees no sleep day or night.

³ Give heed with your ears, and follow My ways; hearken to Me, and your soul shall live in prosperity; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, the sure mercies of David.

⁹ He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

¹¹ And these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all readiness, each day examining the Scriptures to see whether these things might be so.

⁹ Give therefore to Your servant a heart to hear and to judge Your people justly, and to discern between good and evil: for who will be able to judge this Your great people? ¹⁰ And it was pleasing before the Lord, that Solomon asked this thing. ¹¹ And the Lord said to him, Because you have asked this thing of Me, and have not asked for yourself long life, and have not asked wealth, nor have asked for the lives of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to hear judgment; ¹² behold, I have done according to your word: behold, I have given you an understanding and wise heart: there has not been anyone like you before you, and after you there shall not arise one like you.

¹² Only may the Lord give you wisdom and prudence, and strengthen you over Israel, both to keep and to do the law of the Lord your God.

⁴ Show me Your ways, O Lord; and teach me Your paths. ⁵ Lead me in Your truth, and teach me; for You are God my Savior; and I have waited on You all the day.

³⁴ Instruct me, and I will search out Your law, and will keep it with my whole heart.

⁷³ Your hands have made me, and fashioned me; instruct me, that I may learn Your commandments.

¹²⁵ I am Your servant; instruct me, and I shall know Your testimonies.

¹⁶⁹ Let my supplication come near before You, O Lord; instruct me according to Your oracle.

⁶ In all your ways acquaint yourself with her, that she may rightly direct your paths.

¹⁷ I love those that love me, and they that seek me shall find me.

¹³ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, by how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, ¹⁸ the eyes of your heart having been enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

⁵ If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it shall be given to him.

²¹ Who desire death, and obtain it not, digging for it as for treasures;

¹² But where has wisdom been discovered? And where is the place of understanding? ¹³ A mortal has not known its way, neither indeed has it been discovered among men. ¹⁴ The depth said, It is not in me, and the sea said, It is not with me. ¹⁵ One shall not give fine gold instead of it, neither shall silver be weighed in exchange for it. ¹⁶ Neither shall it be compared with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx and sapphire. ¹⁷ Gold and crystal shall not be equaled to it, neither shall vessels of gold be its exchange. ¹⁸ Coral and fine pearl shall not be mentioned, but do you esteem wisdom above the most precious things. ¹⁹ The topaz of Ethiopia shall not be equaled to it; it shall not be compared with pure gold. ²⁰ Where then is wisdom found? And of what kind is the place of understanding?

¹⁰ To be desired more than gold, and much precious stone; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

¹⁴ I have delighted in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches.

⁷² The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver.

¹²⁷ Therefore have I loved Your commandments more than gold, or topaz.

¹⁴ For it is better to traffic for her, than for treasures of gold and silver. ¹⁵ And she is more valuable than precious stones: no evil thing shall resist her. She is well known to all that approach her, and no precious thing is equal to her in value.

¹⁸ Wealth and glory belong to me; yea, abundant possessions and righteousness. ¹⁹ It is better to have my fruit than to have gold and precious stones; and my produce is better than choice silver.

¹⁶ The brood of wisdom is more to be chosen than gold, and the brood of prudence more to be chosen than silver.

⁸ There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he has neither son nor brother: yet there is no end to all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with wealth. And for whom do I labor, and deprive my soul of good? This is also vanity, and an evil trouble.

¹⁹ "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves dig through and steal; ²⁰ but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves do not dig through and steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

²¹ Jesus said to him, "If you desire to be perfect, go, sell your belongings and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." ²² But when the young man heard the word, he went away grieved, for he had many possessions.

²⁹ And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.

⁸ So the master praised the unrighteous manager because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this age are shrewder in their own generation than the sons of light.

¹⁰ Now give me wisdom and understanding, I pray, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who shall judge this, Your great people? ¹¹ And God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for great wealth, nor glory, nor the life of your enemies, and you have not asked for long life; but have asked for yourself wisdom and understanding, that you might judge My people, over whom I have made you king; ¹² I give you this wisdom and understanding; and I will give you wealth, and riches, and glory, so that there shall not have been any like you among the kings before you, neither shall there be such after you.

²⁸ And He said to man, Behold, godliness is wisdom: and to abstain from evil is understanding.

⁷ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and there is good understanding to all that practice it: and godliness toward God is the beginning of discernment; but the ungodly will nullify wisdom and instruction.

¹⁰ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the counsel of saints is understanding: ^(9:10A) for to know the law is the character of a sound mind.

²⁴ but let him that boasts boast in this: the understanding and knowing that I am the Lord that exercises mercy, and judgment, and righteousness upon the earth; for in these things is My pleasure, says the Lord.

⁷ And I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be to Me a people, and I will be to them a God: for they shall turn to Me with all their heart.

³⁴ And no more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord. For all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful to their iniquities, and their sins I will remember no more.

⁴⁰ And I will make with them an everlasting covenant, which I will by no means turn away from them, and I will put My fear into their heart, that they may not depart from Me. ⁴¹ And I will visit them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land in faithfulness, and with all My heart, and with all My soul.

³ Let us follow on to know the Lord: we shall find Him ready as the morning, and He will come to us as the early and latter rain to the earth.

⁷ "Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. ⁸ For everyone that asks receives, and he that seeks finds, and to him that knocks, it shall be opened.

²⁷ All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one fully knows the Son except the Father, nor does anyone fully know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

²² And turning to His disciples He said, "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him."

⁹ "So I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. ¹⁰ For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. ¹¹ And which father among you, if his son asks for bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? ¹² Or if he asks for an egg, will he give him a scorpion? ¹³ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, by how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

³ And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true; and we are in Him that is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

³ And I have filled him with a divine spirit of wisdom, and understanding, and knowledge, to invent in every work,

⁹ Give therefore to Your servant a heart to hear and to judge Your people justly, and to discern between good and evil: for who will be able to judge this Your great people?

¹² behold, I have done according to your word: behold, I have given you an understanding and wise heart: there has not been anyone like you before you, and after you there shall not arise one like you.

²⁹ And the Lord gave understanding to Solomon, and very much wisdom, and enlargement of heart, as the sand on the seashore.

⁸ but there is a spirit in mortals, and the inspiration of the Almighty is that which teaches.

⁷ The law of the Lord is perfect, converting souls; the testimony of the Lord is faithful, instructing babes.

⁹⁸ You have made me wiser than my enemies in Your commandment; for it is mine forever.

¹⁰⁴ I gain understanding by Your commandments; therefore I have hated every way of unrighteousness.

²³ For the commandment of the law is a lamp and a light; a way of life; reproof also and correction:

⁵ O you simple, understand prudence, and you that are untaught, take in knowledge. ⁶ Listen to me, for I will speak solemn truths; and I will produce right sayings from my lips. ⁷ For my mouth shall meditate truth, and false lips are an abomination before me. ⁸ All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing in them wrong or perverse. ⁹ They are all evident to those that understand, and right to those that find knowledge.

²⁰ For He has given the law for a help, that they should not speak according to this word, concerning which there are no gifts to give for it.

¹³ And I will cause all your sons to be taught of God, and your children to be in great peace.

¹⁷ And as for these four children, God gave them understanding and prudence in all learning and wisdom. And Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

²¹ And He changes times and seasons; He appoints kings, and removes them, giving wisdom to the wise, and prudence to them that have understanding.

²³ I give thanks to You, and praise You, O God of my fathers, for You have given me wisdom and power, and have made known to me the things which we asked of You; and You have made known to me the king's vision.

¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict nor to withstand.

⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught of God.' Therefore everyone who hears from the Father, and has learned, comes to Me.

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

⁸ Neither have the sons of the proud trodden it, a lion has not passed upon it.

¹¹ For the Lord loves mercy and truth; God will give grace and glory; the Lord will not withhold good things from them that walk in innocence.

² My mercy, and my refuge; my helper, and my deliverer; my protector, in whom I have trusted; who subdues my people under me.

¹⁴ Counsel and safety are mine; prudence is mine, and strength is mine.

⁸ The wisdom of the prudent will understand their ways, but the folly of fools leads astray.

¹⁸ He that walks justly is assisted, but he that walks in crooked ways shall be entangled therein.

⁵ For all the words of God are tried in the fire, and He defends those that reverence Him.

¹⁹ For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the understanding of the prudent I will annul."

²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

³⁰ But from Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption;

⁶ However, we speak wisdom among those that are perfect, but not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are being destroyed. ⁷ But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the wisdom having been hidden, which God foreordained before the ages for our glory,

¹⁸ Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool, that he may become wise. ¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their craftiness";

³ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

¹⁵ and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, ¹⁷ that the man of God may be proficient, having been thoroughly equipped for every good work.

¹⁵ This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. ¹⁶ For where jealousy and strife exist, there unrest and every evil deed are. ¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

³ And He spared His people, and all His saints are under Your hands; and they are under You; and he received of His words

²⁶ There is not any such as the God of the beloved; He who rides upon the heaven is your helper, and the Magnificent One of the firmament. ²⁷ And the rule of God shall protect you, and that under the strength of the everlasting arms; and He shall cast forth the enemy from before your face, saying, Perish. ²⁸ And Israel shall dwell in confidence alone on the land of Jacob, with grain and wine; and the sky shall be misty with dew upon you. ²⁹ Blessed are you, O Israel; who is like you, O people saved by the Lord? Your helper shall hold His shield over you, and His sword is your boast; and your enemies shall speak falsely to you, and you shall tread upon their neck.

⁹ granting his petition to him that prays; and He blesses the years of the righteous, for by strength cannot man prevail.

⁶ For the Lord knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

³ He has restored my soul; He has guided me into the paths of righteousness, for His name's sake.

²³ The steps of a man are rightly ordered by the Lord; and He will take pleasure in his way. ²⁴ When he falls, he shall not be ruined; for the Lord supports his hand.

²⁸ For the Lord loves judgment, and will not forsake His saints; they shall be preserved forever; the blameless shall be avenged, but the seed of the ungodly shall be utterly destroyed.

³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; and his steps shall not slide.

⁹ who quickens my soul in life, and does not allow my feet to be moved.

⁵ The Lord shall keep you: the Lord is your shelter upon your right hand. ⁶ The sun shall not burn you by day, neither the moon by night. ⁷ May the Lord preserve you from all evil; the Lord shall keep your soul. ⁸ The Lord shall keep your coming in, and your going out, from this time forth and forever.

²⁰ The Lord preserves all that love Him: but all sinners He will utterly destroy.

²¹ My son, let them not pass from you, but keep my counsel and understanding: ²² that your soul may live, and that there may be grace around your neck; ^(3:22A) and it shall be health to your flesh, and safety to your bones: ²³ that you may go confidently in peace in all your ways, and that your foot may not stumble. ²⁴ For if you rest, you shall not be afraid; and if you sleep, you shall slumber sweetly.

²⁰ I walk in ways of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment;

⁹ And there shall be no lion there, neither shall any evil beast go up upon it, nor at all be found there; but the redeemed and gathered on the Lord's behalf shall walk in it,

⁹ saying to them that are in bonds, Go forth; and bidding them that are in darkness, show themselves. They shall be fed in all the ways, and in all the paths shall be their pasture. ¹⁰ They shall not hunger, neither shall they thirst; neither shall the heat nor the sun strike them; but He that has mercy on them shall comfort them, and by fountains of waters shall He lead them.

²⁸ And I give to them eternal life, and they shall never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. ²⁹ My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.

⁵ who by the power of God are being guarded through faith for the salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

²⁴ Now to Him who is able to keep them from stumbling, and to make you stand before His glory, blameless with exultation,

⁸ Good and upright is the Lord; therefore will He instruct sinners in the way. ⁹ The meek will He guide in judgment; the meek will He teach His ways.

⁸ I will instruct you and guide you in the way you should go; I will fix My eyes upon you.

⁹⁹ I have more understanding than all my teachers; for Your testimonies are my meditation.

¹⁰⁵ Your law is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my paths.

⁸ Cause me to hear Your mercy in the morning; for I have hoped in You; make known to me, O Lord, the way in which I should walk; for I have lifted up my soul to You. ⁹ Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord; for I have fled to You for refuge. ¹⁰ Teach me to do Your will; for You are my God; Your good Spirit shall guide me in the straight way.

² to know wisdom and instruction, and to perceive words of understanding; ³ to receive also hard sayings, and to understand true justice, and how to direct judgment; ⁴ that he might give prudence to the simple, and to the young man discernment and understanding. ⁵ For by the hearing of these a wise man will be wiser, and a man of understanding will gain direction; ⁶ and will understand a parable, and an enigma; the saying of the wise also, and riddles.

⁸ There shall be there a pure way, and it shall be called a holy way; and there shall not pass by there any unclean person, neither shall there be there an unclean way; but the dispersed shall walk on it, and they shall not go astray.

¹⁷ Thus says the Lord that delivered you, the Holy One of Israel; I am your God, I have shown you how you should find the way in which you should walk.

¹⁶ Thus says the Lord, Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths of the Lord; and see what is the good way and walk in it, and you shall find purification for your souls. But they said, We will not walk in them.

¹³ "Enter in through the narrow gate; because wide is the gate, and broad is the way which leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in through it. ¹⁴ How narrow the gate, and confined the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it!

⁶ Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

³⁴ Let my meditation be sweet to Him, and I will rejoice in the Lord.

⁹⁷ How I have loved Your law, O Lord! It is my meditation all the day.

¹⁰³ How sweet are Your oracles to my taste! More so than honey to my mouth!

¹¹¹ I have inherited Your testimonies forever; for they are the joy of my heart.

¹⁶² I will rejoice because of Your oracles, as one that finds much spoil.

³³ There is wisdom in the good heart of a man, but in the heart of fools it is not discerned.

¹ A man who wishes to separate from friends seeks excuses, but at all times he will be liable to reproach. ² A senseless man feels no need of wisdom, for he is rather led by folly.

¹³ My son, eat honey, for the honeycomb is good, that your mouth may be sweetened. ¹⁴ Thus shall you perceive wisdom in your soul: for if you find it, your end shall be good, and hope shall not fail you.

¹⁶ Consume them, and Your word shall be to me for the joy and gladness of my heart. For Your name has been called upon me, O Lord Almighty.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

²¹ The harmless and upright joined themselves to me; for I waited for You, O Lord.

⁶ And forsake it not, and it shall cleave to you: love it, and it shall keep you.

²² Whenever you walk, lead this along and let it be with you, that it may talk with you when you wake. ²³ For the commandment of the law is a lamp and a light; a way of life; reproof also and correction: ²⁴ to keep you continually from a married woman, and from the flattery of a strange tongue.

¹⁵ and should find in it a poor wise man, and he should save the city through his wisdom: yet no man would remember that poor man. ¹⁶ And I said, Wisdom is better than power; yet the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not listened to. ¹⁷ The words of the wise are heard in quiet more than the cry of them that rule in folly. ¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of war; and one sinner will destroy much good.

¹⁰ If the ax-head should fall off, then the man troubles his countenance, and he must put forth more strength; and in that case skill is of no advantage to a man.

¹⁵ See then that you walk carefully, not as unwise, but as wise,

⁴ As for the works of men, by the words of Your lips I have guarded myself from hard ways. ⁵ Direct my steps in Your paths, that my steps slip not.

⁴ I have not sat with the council of vanity, and shall by no means enter in with transgressors. ⁵ I have hated the assembly of evildoers; and will not sit with the ungodly.

⁴ A perverse heart has not cleaved to me; I have not known an evil man, forasmuch as he turns away from me.

⁴ Incline not my heart to evil things, to employ pretexts for sins, with men who work iniquity: and let me not unite with their choice ones.

¹⁰ My son, let not ungodly men lead you astray, neither shall you consent to them. ¹¹ If they should exhort you, saying, Come with us, partake in blood, and let us unjustly hide the just man in the earth: ¹² and let us swallow him alive, as Hades would, and remove the memorial of him from the earth: ¹³ let us seize on his valuable property, and let us fill our houses with spoils: ¹⁴ but cast in your lot with us, and let us all provide a common purse, and let us have one pouch: ¹⁵ go not in the way with them, let your foot turn aside from their paths: ¹⁶ (TEXT OMITTED) ¹⁷ for nets are not spread for the birds without cause. ¹⁸ For they that are concerned in murder store up evils for themselves; and the overthrow of transgressors is evil. ¹⁹ These are the ways of all that perform lawless deeds; for by ungodliness they destroy their own life.

³² For every transgressor is unclean before the Lord, neither does he sit among the righteous.

¹⁴ Go not in the ways of the ungodly, neither covet the ways of transgressors. ¹⁵ In whatever place they shall pitch their camp, do not go there; but turn from them, and pass away. ¹⁶ For they cannot sleep, unless they have done evil: their sleep is taken away, and they rest not. ¹⁷ For these live upon the bread of ungodliness, and are drunken with the wine of transgression.

¹³ The fear of the Lord hates unrighteousness, insolence, pride, and the ways of wicked men; and I hate the perverse ways of bad men.

⁶ Forsake folly, that you may reign forever; and seek wisdom, and improve understanding by knowledge.

²⁰ If you walk with wise men you shall be wise, but he that walks with fools shall be known.

²⁸ A perverse man spreads mischief, and will kindle a torch of deceit with mischief, and he separates friends. ²⁹ A transgressor tries to ensnare friends, and leads them in ways that are not good. ³⁰ And the man that fixes his eyes devises perverse things, and marks out with his lips all evil: he is a furnace of wickedness.

³ For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with sins; your lips also have spoken iniquity, and your tongue meditates unrighteousness. ⁴ None speaks justly, neither is there true judgment; they trust in vanities, and speak empty words; for they conceive trouble, and bring forth iniquity. ⁵ They have hatched vipers' eggs, and weave a spider's web; and he that is going to eat of their eggs, having crushed an addled egg, has found also in it a basilisk.

³⁰ Also from among you yourselves will arise men speaking things having been distorted, in order to draw away the disciples after them.

³³ Do not be deceived: "Evil associations corrupts good habits."

¹⁷ Therefore "Come out from the midst of them and be separated," says the Lord. "Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you."

¹³ Why then has He not visited these? Forasmuch as they were upon the earth, and took no notice, and they knew not the way of righteousness, neither have they walked in their appointed paths? ¹⁴ But having known their works, He delivered them into darkness; and in the night one will be as a thief. ¹⁵ And the eye of the adulterer has watched for the darkness, saying, Eye shall not see me, and he puts a covering on his face. ¹⁶ In darkness he digs through houses; by day they conceal themselves securely; they know not the light.

³ They have all gone out of the way, they have together become corrupt, there is none that does good, no not one. Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have used deceit. The poison of asps is under their lips: whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood: destruction and misery are in their ways; and the way of peace they have not known: there is no fear of God before their eyes.

³ The words of his mouth are transgression and deceit; he is not inclined to understand how to do good.

⁵ They know not, nor understand; they walk on in darkness; all the foundations of the earth shall be shaken.

¹⁹ But the ways of the ungodly are like darkness; they know not how they stumble.

¹⁶ A man that wanders out of the way of righteousness shall rest in the congregation of giants.

²⁶ When the righteous turns away from his righteousness and commits a trespass, and dies in the trespass he has committed, he shall even die in it.

¹² Say to the children of your people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him, in the day in which he errs; and the iniquity of the ungodly shall not harm him, in the day in which he turns from his iniquity, but the righteous that errs shall not be able to deliver himself. ¹³ When I say to the righteous, You shall live; and he trusts in his righteousness, and shall commit iniquity, none of his righteousness shall be remembered; in his unrighteousness which he has wrought, in it shall he die.

⁶ and them that turn aside from the Lord, and them that seek not the Lord, and them that cleave not to the Lord.

⁴³ "When an unclean spirit goes out from a man, he goes through waterless places, seeking rest, and does not find any. ⁴⁴ Then he says, 'I will return to my house from where I came out.' And when he comes, he finds it unoccupied, swept, and adorned. ⁴⁵ Then he goes and takes along with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and entering in they dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Thus it shall also be for this wicked generation."

⁶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

⁹ Now when the head steward tasted the water which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the head steward called the bridegroom ¹⁰ and said to him, "Every man first sets out the good wine, and when they have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!" ¹¹ This beginning of the signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than the light, because their works were evil. ²⁰ For everyone that does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works be exposed.

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "For yet a little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.

²¹ Because, having known God, they did not glorify Him as God, or give thanks, but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened.

⁵ You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. ⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those getting drunk, are drunk at night.

¹⁰ For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and traveled to Thessalonica--Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.

⁴ For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and became partakers of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and have tasted the good word of God and the powerful deeds of the age to come, ⁶ and having fallen away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and hold Him up to contempt.

²⁰ For if having escaped from the corruptions of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, yet by these, having become entangled they are defeated, the latter end has become worse for them than the first. ²¹ For it was better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than knowing it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But it has happened to them according to the saying of the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "A sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire."

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out in order that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

²³ A fool does mischief in sport, but wisdom brings forth prudence for a man.

¹⁵ Why has My beloved done abominable things in My house? Will prayers and holy offerings take away your wickedness from you, or shall you escape by these things?

³ They gladdened kings with their wickedness, and princes with their lies.

¹⁵ He has brought up destruction with a hook, and drawn one with a casting net, and caught another in his drags: therefore shall his heart rejoice and be glad.

¹¹ In that day you shall not be ashamed of all your practices, where you have transgressed against Me: for then will I take away from you your disdainful pride, and you shall no more magnify yourself upon My holy mountain.

⁴ And he went off and spoke with the chief priests and captains about how he might betray Him to them. ⁵ And they were glad, and agreed to give him money.

³² who, having known the righteous judgment of God, that those practicing such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but also approve of those who practice them.

⁶ does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

⁵ They have sinned, not pleasing Him; spotted children, a crooked and perverse generation.

⁵ But them that turn aside to crooked ways the Lord will lead away with the workers of iniquity; but peace shall be upon Israel.

⁸ To the crooked, God sends crooked ways, but as for the pure, his work is right.

⁸ Now then sit down and write these words on a tablet, and in a book; for these things shall be for many long days, even forever. ⁹ For the people are disobedient, false children, who would not hear the law of God; ¹⁰ who say to the prophets, Report not to us; and to them that see visions, Speak them not to us, but speak and report to us another error; ¹¹ and turn us aside from this way; remove from us this path, and remove from us the oracle of Israel. ¹² Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, Because you have refused to obey these words, and have trusted in falsehood; and because you have murmured, and been confident in this respect; ¹³ therefore shall this sin be to you as a wall suddenly falling when a strong city has been taken, of which the fall is very close at hand.

⁸ and the way of peace they know not, neither is there judgment in their ways; for their paths by which they go are crooked, and they know not peace.

¹⁵ in order that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine as light bearers in the world,

³ And his master knew that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord prospered in his hands all that he did. ⁴ And Joseph found grace in the presence of his master, and was well-pleasing to him; and he set him over his house; and all that he had, he gave into the hand of Joseph. ⁵ And it came to pass after that he was set over his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the house of the Egyptian for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all his possessions in the house, and in his field. ⁶ And he committed all that he had into the hands of Joseph; and he knew not of anything that belonged to him, except the bread which he himself ate. And Joseph was handsome in form, and exceedingly beautiful in countenance. ⁷ And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph, and said, Lie with me. ⁸ But he would not; but said to his master's wife, If because of me my master knows nothing in his house, and has given into my hands all things that belong to him; ⁹ and in this house there is nothing above me, nor has anything been kept back from me, but you, because you are his wife — how then shall I do this wicked thing, and sin against God? ¹⁰ So it was, as she talked with Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to sleep with her, or to be with her. ¹¹ But it came to pass on a certain day, that Joseph went into the house to do his business, and there was no one of the household inside. ¹² And she caught hold of him by his clothes, and said, Lie with me. And having left his clothes in her hands, he fled, and ran outside.

²⁶ Did not Solomon king of Israel sin thus? Yet there was no king like him among many nations, and he was beloved of God, and God made him king over all Israel; yet strange women turned him aside. ²⁷ So we will not hearken to you to do all this evil, to break covenant with our God, to marry strange wives.

³ for honey drops from the lips of a harlot, who for a season pleases your palate; ⁴ but afterwards you will find her more bitter than gall, and sharper than a two-edged sword. ⁵ For the feet of folly lead those who deal with her down to the grave with death, and her steps are not established. ⁶ For she goes not upon the paths of life; but her ways are slippery, and not easily known. ⁷ Now then my son, hear me, and make not my words of no effect. ⁸ Remove your way far from her; draw not near to the doors of her house: ⁹ lest you give away your life to others, and your substance to the merciless; ¹⁰ lest strangers be filled with your strength, and your labors come into the houses of strangers; ¹¹ And you repent at last, when the flesh of your body is consumed, ¹² and you shall say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart avoided reproofs! ¹³ I heard not the voice of him that instructed me, and taught me, neither did I incline my ear. ¹⁴ I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly. ¹⁵ Drink waters out of your own vessels, and out of your own springing wells. ¹⁶ Let not waters out of your fountain be spilled by you, but let your waters go into your streets. ¹⁷ Let them be yours alone, and let no stranger partake with you. ¹⁸ Let your fountain of water be truly your own, and rejoice with the wife of your youth. ¹⁹ Let your loving deer and your graceful colt company with you, and let her be considered your own, and be with you at all times, for ravished with her love you shall be greatly increased. ²⁰ Be not intimate with a strange woman, neither fold yourself in the arms of a woman not your own.

²⁴ to keep you continually from a married woman, and from the flattery of a strange tongue.

⁵ that she may keep you from the strange and wicked woman, if she should assail you with flattering words. ⁶ For she looks from a window out of her house into the streets, at one whom she may see of the senseless ones, a young man devoid of understanding, ⁷ passing by the corner in the passages near her house, ⁸ and speaking, in the dark of the evening, ⁹ when there happens to be the stillness of night and of darkness: ¹⁰ and the woman meets him having the appearance of a harlot, that causes the hearts of young men to flutter. ¹¹ And she is fickle and rebellious, and her feet abide not at home. ¹² For at one time she wanders outside, and at another time she lies in wait in the streets, at every corner. ¹³ Then she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said to him, ¹⁴ I have a peace offering; today I pay my vows: ¹⁵ therefore I came forth to meet you, desiring your face; and I have found you. ¹⁶ I have spread my bed with sheets, and I have covered it with double tapestry from Egypt. ¹⁷ I have sprinkled my couch with saffron, and my house with cinnamon. ¹⁸ Come, and let us enjoy love until the morning; come, and let us embrace in love. ¹⁹ For my husband is not at home, and has gone on a long journey, ²⁰ having taken in his hand a bundle of money: after many days he will return to his house. ²¹ So with much conversation she prevailed on him to go astray, and with the snares of her lips forced him from the right path. ²² And he followed her, being gently led on, as that of an ox led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a deer shot in the liver with an arrow: ²³ and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for his life.

¹⁴ The mouth of a transgressor is a deep pit, and he that is hated of the Lord shall fall into it. ^(22:14A) Evil ways are before a man, and he does not like to turn away from them, but it is needful to turn aside from a perverse and bad way.

²⁷ For a strange house is a vessel full of holes, and a strange well is narrow.

⁵ He that prepares a net in the way of his own friend, entangles his own feet in it.

²⁶ And I find her to be, and I will pronounce to be more bitter than death, the woman which is a snare, and her heart nets, who has a band in her hands. He that is good in the sight of God shall be delivered from her; but the sinner shall be caught by her.

¹⁸ Let your fountain of water be truly your own, and rejoice with the wife of your youth.

⁴ Have you not called Me as it were a home, and the father and guide of your youth?

⁸ And I passed by you and saw you, and behold, it was your time and a time of resting; and I spread My wings over you, and covered your shame, and swore an oath to you; and I entered into covenant with you, says the Lord, and you became Mine.

⁵⁹ Thus says the Lord: I will even do to you as you have done, as you have dealt shamefully in these things to transgress My covenant. ⁶⁰ And I will remember My covenant, made with you in the days of your infancy, and I will establish to you an everlasting covenant.

¹⁴ Yet you said, For what reason? Because the Lord has borne witness between you and the wife of your youth, whom you have forsaken, and yet she was your partner, and the wife of your covenant. ¹⁵ And did he not do well? And there was the residue of his spirit. But you said, What does God seek but a seed? But take heed to your own spirit, and forsake not the wife of your youth. ¹⁶ But if you should hate your wife and put her away, says the Lord God of Israel, then ungodliness shall cover your thoughts, says the Lord Almighty: therefore take heed to your own spirit, and forsake them not,

²⁶ For the value of a harlot is as much as of one loaf of bread, and a woman hunts for the precious souls of men. ²⁷ Shall anyone bind fire in his bosom, and not burn his garments? ²⁸ Or will anyone walk on coals of fire, and not burn his feet? ²⁹ So is he that goes in to a married woman; he shall not be held guiltless, neither anyone that touches her. ³⁰ It is not to be wondered at if one should be caught stealing, for he steals that when hungry, he may satisfy his soul: ³¹ but if he should be caught, he shall repay sevenfold, and shall deliver himself by giving all his goods. ³² But the adulterer through lack of understanding procures destruction to his soul. ³³ He endures both pain and disgrace, and his reproach shall never be wiped off. ³⁴ For the soul of her husband is full of jealousy: he will not spare in the day of vengeance. ³⁵ He will not forego his enmity for any ransom: neither will he be reconciled by many gifts.

²² And he followed her, being gently led on, as that of an ox led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a deer shot in the liver with an arrow: ²³ and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for his life. ²⁴ Now then my son, listen to me, and attend to the words of my mouth. ²⁵ Let not your heart turn aside to her ways, ²⁶ for she has wounded and cast down many, and those whom she has slain are innumerable. ²⁷ Her house is the way of hell, leading down to the chambers of death.

¹⁸ But he knows that mighty men die by her, and he falls in with a snare of hell. ^(9:18A) But hasten away, do not delay in the place, neither fix your eye upon her; ^(9:18B) for thus shall you go through strange water; ^(9:18C) but abstain from strange water, and do not drink from a strange fountain, ^(9:18D) that you may live long, and years of life may be added to you.

⁹ Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, ¹⁰ nor covetous, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor abusive people, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you! But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are: adultery, fornication, immorality, lewdness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, ²¹ envies, murders, drinking bouts, revelries, and the like; which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

⁵ For this you know, that no fornicator, or unclean person, nor covetous person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

⁸ But the cowardly, and unbelieving, and sinners, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and drug users, and idolaters, and all who are false shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

¹⁵ But outside are dogs and drug users and fornicators and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices a lie.

¹² So I let them go after the ways of their own hearts; they will go on in their own ways.

¹⁸ But the ways of the righteous shine like light; they go forth and shine, until the day has fully come.

²³ If the Ethiopian shall change his skin, or the leopardess her spots, then shall you be able to do good, having learned to do evil.

¹⁴ And I will not visit upon your daughters when they shall commit fornication, nor your daughters-in-law when they shall commit adultery: for they themselves mingled themselves with harlots, and sacrificed with polluted ones, and the people that understood not entangled itself with a harlot.

²⁴ And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." ²⁵ And when His disciples heard, they were greatly astonished, saying, "Who then is able to be saved?" ²⁶ And looking on them, Jesus said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

¹⁸ in order that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong encouragement, who have fled to take hold of the hope being set before us;

⁶³ I am a companion of all them that fear You, and of them that keep Your commandments.

¹¹⁵ Depart from me, You evildoers; for I will search out the commandments of my God.

⁷ Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you tend your flock, where you cause them to rest at noon, lest I become as one that is veiled by the flocks of your companions. ⁸ If you know not yourself, you fair one among women, go forth by the footsteps of the flocks, and feed your little goats by the shepherd's tents.

¹² lest you become dull, but become imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

¹¹ Beloved, do not imitate the evil, but the good. He who does good is of God; he who does evil has not seen God.

¹ There was a certain man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was true, blameless, righteous, and godly, abstaining from everything evil.

¹² And the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than the beginning: and his livestock consisted of fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys of the pastures.

³ Hope in the Lord, and do good; and dwell on the land, and you shall be fed with the wealth of it.

⁹ For evildoers shall be destroyed; but they that wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the land.

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

²² For those that bless Him shall inherit the earth; and they that curse Him shall be utterly destroyed.

²⁹ But the righteous shall inherit the earth, and dwell upon it forever.

⁴ To the upright light has sprung up in darkness; he is pitiful, and merciful, and righteous. ⁵ The good man is he that pities and lends; he will direct his affairs with judgment. ⁶ For he shall not be moved forever; the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

³⁰ The righteous shall never fail, but the ungodly shall not dwell in the earth.

²² And the Lord your God shall consume these nations before you by little and little: you shall not be able to consume them speedily, lest the land become desert, and the wild beasts of the field be multiplied against you.

⁶³ And it shall come to pass that as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you, so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you; and you shall be quickly removed from the land, into which you go to inherit it. ⁶⁴ And the Lord your God shall scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other; and there you shall serve other gods of wood and stone, which you knew not, nor your fathers.

¹⁶ His roots shall be dried up from beneath, and his crop shall fall away from above. ¹⁷ Let his memorial perish out of the earth, and his name shall be publicly cast out. ¹⁸ Let one drive him from light into darkness.

³⁰ For the wicked hastens to the day of destruction: they shall be led away for the day of His vengeance.

²⁰ For the sinners shall perish; and the enemies of the Lord at the moment of their being honored and exalted have utterly vanished like smoke.

³⁷ Maintain innocence, and behold uprightness; for there is a remnant to the peaceable man. ³⁸ But the transgressors shall be utterly destroyed together; the remnants of the ungodly shall be utterly destroyed.

⁵ Therefore may God destroy you forever, may He pluck you up and utterly remove you from your dwelling, and your root from the land of the living. Pause.

³⁵ Let the sinners fail from off the earth, and transgressors, so that they shall be no more. Bless the Lord, O my soul.

²² Iniquities ensnare a man, and everyone is bound in the chains of his own sins. ²³ Such a man dies with the uninstructed, and he is cast forth from the abundance of his own substance, and has perished through folly.

¹⁰ Woe to their soul, for they have devised an evil counsel against themselves, saying against themselves, Let us bind the just, for he is burdensome to us; therefore shall they eat the fruits of their works. ¹¹ Woe to the transgressor! Evils shall happen to him according to the works of his hands.
