¹ Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, and give attention to know understanding. ² For I give you a good gift; forsake not my law. ³ For I also was a son obedient to my father, and loved in the sight of my mother: ⁴ who spoke and instructed me, saying, Let our speech be fixed in your heart, keep our commandments, forget them not: ⁵ and do not neglect the speech of my mouth. ⁶ And forsake it not, and it shall cleave to you: love it, and it shall keep you. ⁷ (TEXT OMITTED) ⁸ Secure it, and it shall exalt you: honor it, that it may embrace you; ⁹ that it may give unto your head a crown of grace, and may cover you with a crown of delight. ¹⁰ Hear, my son, and receive my words, and the years of your life shall be increased, that the resources of your life may be many. ¹¹ For I teach you the ways of wisdom; and I cause you to go in right paths. ¹² For when you go, your steps shall not be hindered; and when you run, you shall not be distressed. ¹³ Take hold of my instruction; do not let it go, but keep it for yourself, for your life. ¹⁴ Go not in the ways of the ungodly, neither covet the ways of transgressors. ¹⁵ In whatever place they shall pitch their camp, do not go there; but turn from them, and pass away. ¹⁶ For they cannot sleep, unless they have done evil: their sleep is taken away, and they rest not. ¹⁷ For these live upon the bread of ungodliness, and are drunken with the wine of transgression. ¹⁸ But the ways of the righteous shine like light; they go forth and shine, until the day has fully come. ¹⁹ But the ways of the ungodly are like darkness; they know not how they stumble. ²⁰ My son, attend to my speech, and incline your ear to my words, ²¹ that your fountains may not fail you; keep them in your heart. ²² For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh. ²³ Keep your heart with the utmost care, for out of these are the issues of life. ²⁴ Remove from yourself a deceitful mouth, and put unjust lips far away from yourself. ²⁵ Let your eyes look right on, and let your eyelids assent to just things. ²⁶ Make straight paths for your feet, and order your ways rightly. ²⁷ Turn not aside to the right hand, nor to the left, but turn away your foot from an evil way: ^(4:27A) for God knows the ways on the right hand, but those on the left are crooked: ^(4:27B) and He will make your ways straight, and will guide your steps in peace.

¹¹ Come, you children, hear me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

⁸ Hear, my son, the instruction of your father, and reject not the rules of your mother.

¹ My son, if you will receive the utterance of my commandment, and hide it within you; ² your ear shall hearken to wisdom; you shall also apply your heart to understanding, and shall apply it to the instruction of your son. ³ For if you shall call to wisdom, and utter your voice for understanding; ⁴ and if you shall seek it as silver, and search diligently for it as for treasures; ⁵ then shall you understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

¹ My son, attend to my wisdom, and incline your ear to my words;

²⁰ My son, keep the laws of your father, and do not reject the ordinances of your mother: ²¹ but bind them upon your soul continually, and hang them as a chain about your neck. ²² Whenever you walk, lead this along and let it be with you, that it may talk with you when you wake. ²³ For the commandment of the law is a lamp and a light; a way of life; reproof also and correction:

⁴ Say that wisdom is your sister, and gain prudence as an acquaintance for yourself;

³² Now then, my son, hear me: blessed is the man who shall listen to me, and the mortal who shall keep my ways; ³³ (TEXT OMITTED) ³⁴ watching daily at my doors, waiting at the posts of my entrances. ³⁵ For my outgoings are the outgoings of life, and in them is prepared favor from the Lord. ³⁶ But they that sin against me act wickedly against their own souls, and they that hate me love death.

²⁰ Hear, son, the instruction of your father, that you may be wise in your latter days.

¹⁷ Incline your ear to the words of wise men; hear also my word, and apply your heart,

¹¹ as indeed you know how each one of you, as a father to his own children, we exhorted, and comforted you, and imploring you, ¹² that you would make your walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

¹ On account of this we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

² Let my speech be looked for as the rain, and my words come down as dew, as the shower upon the herbage, and as snow upon the grass.

⁹ And now, my son Solomon, know the God of your fathers, and serve Him with a perfect heart and a willing soul; for the Lord searches all hearts, and knows every thought: if you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you should forsake Him, He will forsake you forever.

¹⁹ But if you should turn away, and forsake My ordinances and My commandments, which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods, and worship them;

⁴ For say not, I am pure in my works, and blameless before Him.

³ My heart shall be found pure by my words; and the understanding of my lips shall meditate purity.

¹ For the end, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. Hear these words, all you nations, give ear, all you that dwell upon the earth; ² both the sons of mean men, and sons of great men; the rich and poor man together. ³ My mouth shall speak of wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall bring forth understanding.

³⁰ If his children should forsake My law, and walk not in My judgments; ³¹ if they should profane My ordinances, and not keep My commandments; ³² I will visit their transgressions with a rod, and their sins with scourges.

⁶ Listen to me, for I will speak solemn truths; and I will produce right sayings from my lips. ⁷ For my mouth shall meditate truth, and false lips are an abomination before me. ⁸ All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing in them wrong or perverse. ⁹ They are all evident to those that understand, and right to those that find knowledge.

²⁰ And record them repeatedly for yourself on the table of your heart, for counsel and knowledge. ²¹ I therefore teach you truth, and knowledge good to hear, that you may answer words of truth to them that question you.

¹⁶ Therefore Jesus answered them and said, "My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. ¹⁷ If anyone desires to do His will, he will know about the doctrine, whether it is from God, or whether I am speaking on My own authority.

⁶ Instructing the brothers in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, being nourished by the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.

⁹ holding fast to the faithful word as he was taught, that he may be able to exhort by sound doctrine, and to convince those who oppose it.

²⁴ And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and he went in to her, and lay with her; and she conceived and bore a son, and he called his named Solomon, and the Lord loved him. ²⁵ And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and called his name Jedidiah, for the Lord's sake.

¹³ Make haste, and go in to King David, and you shall speak to him, saying, Has not you, my lord, O king, sworn to your handmaid, saying, Your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? Why then does Adonijah reign? ¹⁴ And behold, while you are still speaking there with the king, I also will come in after you, and will confirm your words. ¹⁵ So Bathsheba went in to the king into the chamber. And the king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering to the king. ¹⁶ And Bathsheba bowed down before the king; and the king said, What is your request? ¹⁷ And she said, My lord, you swore by the Lord your God to your handmaid, saying, Your son Solomon shall reign after me, and shall sit upon my throne.

⁵ And these were born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon — four by Bathshua the daughter of Ammiel.

⁵ And David said, My son Solomon is a tender child, and the house for me to build to the Lord is for superior magnificence for a name and for a glory through all the earth; I will make preparation for it. And David prepared abundantly before his death.

¹ And David the king said to all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom the Lord has chosen, is young and tender, and the work is great; for it is not for man, but for the Lord God.

²³ I know, O Lord, that man's way is not his own; neither shall a man go, and direct his going.

¹⁰ And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and compassion: and they shall look upon Me, because they have mocked Me, and they shall make lamentation for Him, as for a beloved friend, and they shall grieve intensely, as for a firstborn son.

¹⁶ Be of the same mind toward one another. Not minding the high things, but associating with the humble. Do not become wise in your own opinion.

¹⁹ For I know that he will order his sons, and his house after him, and they will keep the ways of the Lord, to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraham all things whatsoever He has spoken to him.

³ You shall not do according to the devices of Egypt, in which you dwelt: and according to the devices of the land of Canaan, into which I bring you, you shall not do; and you shall not walk in their ordinances. ⁴ You shall observe My judgments, and shall keep My ordinances, and shall walk in them: I am the Lord your God. ⁵ So you shall keep all My ordinances, and all My judgments, and do them; which if a man shall do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord your God.

⁹ Take heed to yourself, and keep your heart diligently: forget not any of the things, which your eyes have seen, and let them not depart from your heart all the days of your life; and you shall teach your sons and your sons' sons,

⁶ And these words, all that I command you this day, shall be in your heart and in your soul.

¹¹ And now, my son, the Lord shall be with you, and prosper you; and you shall build a house to the Lord your God, as He spoke concerning you. ¹² Only may the Lord give you wisdom and prudence, and strengthen you over Israel, both to keep and to do the law of the Lord your God. ¹³ Then will He prosper you, if you take heed to do the commandments and judgments which the Lord commanded Moses for Israel; be courageous and strong; fear not, nor be terrified. ¹⁴ And behold, I according to my poverty have prepared for the house of the Lord a hundred thousand talents of gold, and a million talents of silver, and bronze and iron without measure, for it is abundant; and I have prepared timber and stones; and you therefore add to these. ¹⁵ And of them that are with you, add to the multitude of workmen; let there be artificers and masons, and carpenters, and every skillful workman in every work; ¹⁶ in gold and silver, bronze and iron, of which there is no number. Arise and begin working, and the Lord be with you.

¹¹ I have hidden Your oracles in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

¹ My son, forget not my laws, but let your heart keep my words:

² Keep my commandments, and you shall live; and keep my words as the pupils of your eyes.

³ Give heed with your ears, and follow My ways; hearken to Me, and your soul shall live in prosperity; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, the sure mercies of David.

⁵⁰ And I know that His command is eternal life. Therefore, whatever I speak, as the Father has said to Me, thus I speak."

⁴ And fathers, do not provoke your children, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.

⁵ taking recollection of the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

¹⁵ and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

⁹ And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

² And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of his father David, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

¹¹ And I will go forth according to His commandments, for I have kept His ways; and I shall not turn aside from His commandments,

¹⁸ And our heart has not gone back; but You have turned aside our paths from Your way.

⁵¹ The proud have transgressed exceedingly; but I swerved not from Your law.

¹⁵⁷ Many are they that persecute me and oppress me; but I have not declined from Your testimonies.

²² So long as the simple cleave to justice, they shall not be ashamed: but the foolish being lovers of haughtiness, having become ungodly have hated knowledge, and have become subject to reproofs. ²³ Behold, I will bring forth to you the utterance of my breath, and I will instruct you in my speech.

¹³ Blessed is the man who has found wisdom, and the mortal who knows prudence. ¹⁴ For it is better to traffic for her, than for treasures of gold and silver. ¹⁵ And she is more valuable than precious stones: no evil thing shall resist her. She is well known to all that approach her, and no precious thing is equal to her in value. ¹⁶ For length of days and years of life are in her right hand, and in her left hand are wealth and glory. ^(3:16A) Out of her mouth proceeds righteousness, and she carries law and mercy upon her tongue. ¹⁷ Her ways are good ways, and all her paths are peaceful. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to all that lay hold of her, and she is a secure help to all that stay themselves on her, as on the Lord.

⁵ O you simple, understand prudence, and you that are untaught, take in knowledge.

¹⁶ The brood of wisdom is more to be chosen than gold, and the brood of prudence more to be chosen than silver.

¹⁶ Why has the fool wealth? For a senseless man will not be able to purchase wisdom. ^(17:16A) He that exalts his own house seeks ruin, and he that turns aside from instruction shall fall into mischief.

¹ A man who wishes to separate from friends seeks excuses, but at all times he will be liable to reproach.

⁸ He that procures wisdom loves himself, and he that keeps wisdom shall find good.

⁵ If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it shall be given to him.

¹⁰ For if wisdom shall come into your understanding, and discernment shall seem pleasing to your soul, ¹¹ then good counsel shall guard you, and holy understanding shall keep you; ¹² to deliver you from the evil way, and from the man that speaks nothing faithfully.

²¹ that your fountains may not fail you; keep them in your heart. ²² For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; being rooted and founded in love,

¹⁰ and in all deception of unrighteousness among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

¹⁶ Fear not when a man is enriched, and when the glory of his house is increased. ¹⁷ For he shall take nothing when he dies; neither shall his glory descend with him. ¹⁸ For his soul shall be blessed in his life; he shall give thanks to you when you do well to him. ¹⁹ Yet he shall go in to the generation of his fathers; he shall never see light. ²⁰ Man that is in honor, understands not; he is compared to the senseless cattle, and is likened unto them.

¹⁰⁴ I gain understanding by Your commandments; therefore I have hated every way of unrighteousness.

⁶ He that gathers treasures with a lying tongue pursues vanity on the snares of death.

⁴ I enlarged my work; I built myself houses; I planted myself vineyards. ⁵ I made for myself gardens and orchards, and planted in them every kind of fruit tree. ⁶ I made myself pools of water, to water from them the timber-bearing wood. ⁷ I acquired servants and maidens, and servants were born to me in the house. Also I had abundant possessions of flocks and herds, beyond all who were before me in Jerusalem. ⁸ Moreover I collected for myself both silver and gold, and the peculiar treasures of kings and provinces. I procured for myself singing men and singing women, and delights of the sons of men, a butler and female cupbearers. ⁹ So I became great, and advanced beyond all that were before in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom was established to me.

⁸ There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he has neither son nor brother: yet there is no end to all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with wealth. And for whom do I labor, and deprive my soul of good? This is also vanity, and an evil trouble.

¹² For wisdom in its shadow is as the shadow of silver, and the excellence of the knowledge of wisdom will give life to him that has it.

¹⁶ And I said, Wisdom is better than power; yet the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not listened to. ¹⁷ The words of the wise are heard in quiet more than the cry of them that rule in folly. ¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of war; and one sinner will destroy much good.

⁴⁴ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure having been hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it, he went and sold everything he had, and bought that field." ⁴⁵ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, ⁴⁶ who, when he found one very precious pearl, went and sold everything he had and bought it."

³⁶ For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? ³⁷ Or what shall a man give as an equivalent for his soul?

⁴² But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have prepared?'

⁸ More than that I also consider all things to be loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have sustained the loss of all things, and I consider them to be rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ

³⁰ Therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel: I said, Your house and the house of your father shall pass before Me forever: but now the Lord says, Far be it from Me; for I will only honor them that honor Me, and he that despises Me shall be despised.

⁵ And the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and the Lord said to Solomon, Ask some petition for yourself. ⁶ And Solomon said, You have dealt very mercifully with Your servant David my father according as he walked before You in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You, and You have kept for him this great mercy, to set his son upon his throne, as it is this day. ⁷ And now, O Lord my God, You have appointed Your servant in the place of David my father; and I am a little child, and know not my going out and my coming in. ⁸ But Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, which cannot be numbered. ⁹ Give therefore to Your servant a heart to hear and to judge Your people justly, and to discern between good and evil: for who will be able to judge this Your great people? ¹⁰ And it was pleasing before the Lord, that Solomon asked this thing. ¹¹ And the Lord said to him, Because you have asked this thing of Me, and have not asked for yourself long life, and have not asked wealth, nor have asked for the lives of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to hear judgment; ¹² behold, I have done according to your word: behold, I have given you an understanding and wise heart: there has not been anyone like you before you, and after you there shall not arise one like you. ¹³ And I have also given to you what you have not asked, wealth and glory, so that there has not been anyone like you among kings.

³⁵ The wise shall inherit glory, but the ungodly have exalted their own dishonor.

⁴ The fear of the Lord is the offspring of wisdom, wealth, glory, and life.

³ And the wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and some of the many righteous as the stars forever and ever.

⁹ For you shall receive a crown of grace for your head, and a chain of gold around your neck.

²² that your soul may live, and that there may be grace around your neck; ^(3:22A) and it shall be health to your flesh, and safety to your bones:

³¹ Old age is a crown of honor, but it is found in the ways of righteousness.

⁵ In that day the Lord of hosts shall be the crown of hope, the woven crown of glory, to the remnant of the people.

⁹ Likewise also that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and discretion, not with braids or gold or pearls or expensive clothing, ¹⁰ but which is fitting for women professing godliness, by means of good works.

⁷ You made him a little lower than the angels, You crowned him with glory and honor, ⁸ You have subjected all things under his feet." For in subjecting to him all things, He left nothing not subjected to him. But now we do not yet see all things having been subjected to him. ⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, through the suffering of death, having been crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God, He might taste death for everyone.

⁴ rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible attitude of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious before God.

⁴ And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

²¹ He that overcomes, I will grant to him to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you; that it may be well with you, and that you may live long upon the land, which the Lord your God gives you.

² That you may fear the Lord your God, and keep all His statutes, and His commandments, which I command you today, you, and your sons, and your sons' sons, all the days of your life, that you may live many days.

²² And receive a declaration from His mouth, and lay up His words in your heart.

¹ My son, if you will receive the utterance of my commandment, and hide it within you;

² for length of days, and years of life, and peace, shall they add to you.

¹⁶ For length of days and years of life are in her right hand, and in her left hand are wealth and glory. ^(3:16A) Out of her mouth proceeds righteousness, and she carries law and mercy upon her tongue.

¹⁰ Receive instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

²⁰ Hear the word of God, you women, and let your ears receive the words of His mouth, and teach your daughters lamentation, and every woman her neighbor a dirge.

³² And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony. ³³ He who receives His testimony has certified that God is true.

¹³ Because of this we also give thanks to God unceasingly, so that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you received not the word of men, but just as it truly is, the word of God, which also is at work in you who believe.

¹⁵ Faithful is this word, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first.

⁵ Behold, I have shown you the statutes and judgments as the Lord has commanded me, that you should do so in the land into which you go, to inherit it.

²³ And far be it from me to sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will serve the Lord, and show you the good and the right way. ²⁴ Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth and with all your heart, for you see what great things He has done for you.

³ He has restored my soul; He has guided me into the paths of righteousness, for His name's sake.

⁴ Show me Your ways, O Lord; and teach me Your paths. ⁵ Lead me in Your truth, and teach me; for You are God my Savior; and I have waited on You all the day.

²⁰ I walk in ways of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment;

⁹ And because the Preacher was wise above others, so it was that he taught men excellent knowledge, and the ear will trace out the parables.

¹⁰ he said, "O full of all guile and all craft, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?

³⁷ so as to make room under me for my going, and my legs did not totter.

⁷ Let the meanest of men spoil his goods, and let his counsel deceive him. ⁸ His foot also has been caught in a snare, and let it be entangled in a net.

³⁶ You have made room for my goings under me, and my footsteps did not fail.

¹¹ For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. ¹² They shall bear you up on their hands, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone.

¹⁶⁵ Great peace have they that love Your law; and there is no stumbling block to them.

²³ that you may go confidently in peace in all your ways, and that your foot may not stumble.

¹⁹ But the ways of the ungodly are like darkness; they know not how they stumble.

²² Whenever you walk, lead this along and let it be with you, that it may talk with you when you wake.

⁹ They went forth with weeping, and I will bring them back with consolation, causing them to lodge by the channels of waters in a straight way, and they shall not err in it: for I have become a father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn.

⁹ Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. ¹⁰ But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."

³² Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled the stone of stumbling. ³³ Just as it is written: "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and rock of offense, and everyone believing on Him will not be put to shame."

⁸ and "a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense." They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.

¹⁰ He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. ¹¹ But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

²⁶ And He said to him, Let Me go, for the day has dawned; but he said, I will not let You go, except You bless me.

⁴⁷ For this is no vain word to you; for it is your life, and because of this word you shall live long upon the land, into which you go over the Jordan to inherit it.

⁴ It was as a little while after I parted from them, that I found him whom my soul loves: I held him, and did not let him go, until I brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

²⁷ And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. ²⁸ Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He made as though He was going farther. ²⁹ But they constrained Him, saying, "Stay with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent." And He went in to stay with them.

³⁹ And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman testifying, "He told me everything I ever did." ⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. ⁴¹ And many more believed because of His word. ⁴² Then they were saying to the woman, "No longer because of your speech do we believe, for we ourselves have heard and know that this is truly the Christ, the Savior of the world."

⁶⁸ But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

⁴² And they were continuing in the teaching of the apostles, and in fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

²³ who, arriving and seeing the grace of God, was glad, and encouraged them all with purpose of heart to continue with the Lord,

²¹ But test all things; hold fast that which is good.

¹³ "I know your works, and where you live, where Satan's throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith in the days in which Antipas was My faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan is dwelling.

¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

¹ Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of evil men.

⁴ I have not sat with the council of vanity, and shall by no means enter in with transgressors. ⁵ I have hated the assembly of evildoers; and will not sit with the ungodly.

¹⁰ My son, let not ungodly men lead you astray, neither shall you consent to them.

¹⁵ go not in the way with them, let your foot turn aside from their paths:

⁶ Forsake folly, that you may reign forever; and seek wisdom, and improve understanding by knowledge.

²⁰ If you walk with wise men you shall be wise, but he that walks with fools shall be known.

³³ Do not be deceived: "Evil associations corrupts good habits."

⁷ You shall abstain from every unjust thing: you shall not slay the innocent and righteous, and you shall not justify the wicked for gifts.

¹⁴ if there is any iniquity in your hands, put if far from you, and let not unrighteousness lodge in your habitation.

²³ And if you shall turn and humble yourself before the Lord, you have thus removed unrighteousness far from your habitation.

⁸ Remove your way far from her; draw not near to the doors of her house:

⁵ that you may deliver yourself as a doe out of the toils, and as a bird out of a snare.

¹⁵ He that walks in righteousness, speaking rightly, hating transgression and iniquity, and shaking his hands from gifts, stopping his ears that he should not hear the judgment of blood, shutting his eyes that he should not see injustice.

¹¹ And have no partnership with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

²² Abstain from every form of evil.

⁴ He devises iniquity on his bed; he gives himself to every evil way; and does not abhor evil.

²⁰ But the unrighteous shall be tossed as troubled waves, and shall not be able to rest.

¹ They meditated troubles, and wrought wickedness on their beds, and they put it in execution with the daylight; for they have not lifted up their hands to God.

⁶⁶ And when it became day, the council of the elders of the people, the chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him into their council, saying,

²⁸ Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning. But they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium, lest they might be defiled, but so that they might eat the Passover.

¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart having been trained in greediness, they are accursed children.

⁵ And they have departed like donkeys in the field, having gone forth on my account according to their own order. His bread is sweet to His little ones. ⁶ They have reaped a field that was not their own before the time; the poor have labored in the vineyards of the ungodly without pay and without food.

⁴ Will not all the workers of iniquity know, who eat up my people as they would eat bread? They have not called upon the Lord.

²⁶ For among My people were found ungodly men; and they have set snares to destroy men, and have caught them. ²⁷ As a snare which has been set is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore have they grown great, and become rich. ²⁸ They have transgressed the rule of judgment; they have not judged the cause of the orphan, nor have they judged the cause of the widow.

²⁵ whose princes in the midst of her are as roaring lions seizing prey, devouring souls by oppression, and taking bribes; and your widows are multiplied in the midst of you. ²⁶ Her priests also have set at nought My law, and profaned My holy things: they have not distinguished between the holy and profane, nor have they distinguished between the unclean and the clean, and have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, and I was profaned in the midst of them. ²⁷ Her princes in the midst of her are as wolves ravening to shed blood, that they may get dishonest gain. ²⁸ And her prophets that daub them shall fall, that see vanities, that prophesy falsehoods, saying, Thus says the Lord, when the Lord has not spoken. ²⁹ That sorely oppress the people of the land with injustice, and commit robbery; oppressing the poor and needy, and not dealing justly with the stranger.

⁴ Hear now this, you that oppress the poor in the morning, and drive the needy ones by tyranny from the earth, ⁵ saying, When will the month pass away, and we shall sell, and the sabbath, and we shall open the treasure, to make the measure small, and to enlarge the weight, and make the balance unfair? ⁶ That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for shoes; and we will trade in every kind of fruit.

⁵ Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets that lead My people astray, that bite with their teeth, and proclaim peace to them; and when nothing was put into their mouth, they raised up war against them:

¹² whereby they have accumulated their ungodly wealth, and they that dwell in the city have uttered falsehoods, and their tongue has been exalted in their mouth?

³ Her princes within her were as roaring lions, her judges as the wolves of Arabia; they remained not till the morning.

¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

⁴ Indeed, the wages of the laborers who reaped your fields, which were kept back by you, cry out, and the cries of the reapers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts. ⁵ You lived luxuriously upon the earth and you lived riotously, you nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

⁴ And in the morning light of God, let the sun arise in the morning, from the light of which the Lord passed on, and as it were from the rain of the tender grass upon the earth.

¹⁷ And your prayer shall be as the morning star, and life shall arise to you as from the noonday.

¹⁰ For He already knows my way, and He has tried me as gold.

⁷ They shall go from strength to strength; the God of gods shall be seen in Zion.

⁷ The way of the godly is made straight; the way of the godly is also prepared.

³ Let us follow on to know the Lord: we shall find Him ready as the morning, and He will come to us as the early and latter rain to the earth.

⁶ And it shall come to pass in that day that there shall be no light, ⁷ and there shall be for one day cold and frost, and that day shall be known to the Lord, and it shall not be day, nor night: but towards evening it shall be light.

¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

¹⁶ Thus let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works, and they may glorify your Father who is in heaven.

⁴⁵ so that you may prove to be sons of your Father in heaven; because He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and He sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

¹² Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He that follows Me shall by no means walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

¹⁸ But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

¹⁵ in order that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine as light bearers in the world,

¹⁹ And we have the prophetic word made more sure, which you do well to heed, as a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;

¹⁸ but grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

²³ The city had no need of the sun nor of the moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

⁵ And night shall not exist. and there shall not be a need of a lamp and of light, because the Lord God shall illuminate them. And they shall reign forever and ever.

⁹ granting his petition to him that prays; and He blesses the years of the righteous, for by strength cannot man prevail.

¹⁴ In the day darkness shall come upon them, and let them grope in the noonday even as in the night.

²⁵ Let them grope in darkness, and let there be no light, and let them wander as a drunken man.

⁵ But the light of the ungodly shall be quenched, and their flame shall not go up. ⁶ His light shall be darkness in his habitation, and his lamp shall be put out with him.

¹⁸ Let one drive him from light into darkness.

¹³ Alas for those who forsake right paths, to walk in ways of darkness;

⁹ Therefore has judgment departed from them, and righteousness shall not overtake them; while they waited for light, darkness came upon them; while they waited for brightness, they walked in perplexity. ¹⁰ They shall feel for the wall as blind men, and shall feel for it as if they had no eyes; and they shall feel at noonday as at midnight; they shall groan as dying men.

¹⁶ Give glory to the Lord your God, before He causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and you shall wait for light, and behold the shadow of death, and they shall be brought into darkness.

¹² Therefore let their way be slippery and dark to them, and they shall be tripped up and fall in it; for I will bring evils upon them, in the year of their visitation.

²³ "And then I will confess to them, 'I never knew you! Depart from Me, you who work iniquity!'

¹⁴ Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. And if the blind guides the blind, both will fall into a ditch."

¹⁰ But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "For yet a little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.

¹¹ But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

¹ A Psalm of instruction, of Asaph. Give heed, O my people, to my law; incline your ear to the words of my mouth.

¹² And who knows how to number his days because of the fear of Your wrath? So manifest Your right hand, and those that are instructed in wisdom in the heart.

²⁰ My son, keep the laws of your father, and do not reject the ordinances of your mother: ²¹ but bind them upon your soul continually, and hang them as a chain about your neck.

¹ My son, keep my words, and hide my commandments with you. ^(7:2) My son, honor the Lord, and you shall be strong; and fear none but Him.

⁵ While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!"

⁸ I desired to do Your will, O my God, and Your law in the midst of my heart.

³ Let not mercy and truth forsake you; but bind them about your neck:

²¹ My son, let them not pass from you, but keep my counsel and understanding:

¹ My son, keep my words, and hide my commandments with you. ^(7:2) My son, honor the Lord, and you shall be strong; and fear none but Him. ² Keep my commandments, and you shall live; and keep my words as the pupils of your eyes.

⁸ Then shall there be health to your body, and good keeping to your bones.

¹⁰ Hear, my son, and receive my words, and the years of your life shall be increased, that the resources of your life may be many.

¹⁸ Some wound as they speak, like swords, but the tongues of the wise heal.

⁶ Behold, I bring upon her healing and cure, and I will show Myself to them, and will heal her, and make both peace and security.

²³ Prove me, O God, and know my heart; examine me, and know my paths; ²⁴ and see if there is any way of iniquity in me, and lead me in an everlasting way.

¹⁶ A gracious wife brings glory to her husband, but a woman hating righteousness is a theme of dishonor. The slothful come to want, but the diligent support themselves with wealth.

³ He that keeps his own mouth keeps his own life, but he that is hasty with his lips shall bring terror upon himself.

⁵ Thistles and snares are in perverse ways, but he that keeps his soul will refrain from them.

¹⁹ Hear, my son, and be wise, and rightly direct the thoughts of your heart.

²⁶ He that trusts to a bold heart, such a one is a fool: but he that walks in wisdom shall be safe.

¹³ There is an infirmity which I have seen under the sun, namely, wealth kept for its owner to his own hurt.

⁹ The heart is deep beyond all things, and it constitutes the man, and who can know him?

³⁴ Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. ³⁵ A good man out of his good treasure brings forth good things, and an evil man out of his evil treasure brings forth evil things.

¹⁹ For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, come forth evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, ²² thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, arrogance, foolishness. ²³ All these evil things come from within and defile a man."

³⁸ Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Indeed the spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak."

⁴⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

¹⁵ looking diligently lest anyone fall from the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness growing up cause trouble, and through this many be defiled;

¹⁴ But each one is tempted by his own lusts, being drawn away and being seduced by them. ¹⁵ Then lust, when it conceives, gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

¹² A foolish man and a transgressor goes in ways that are not good.

⁸ All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing in them wrong or perverse.

¹³ The fear of the Lord hates unrighteousness, insolence, pride, and the ways of wicked men; and I hate the perverse ways of bad men.

²⁰ and the hard-hearted man finds no good. A man of a changeful tongue will fall into mischief,

³¹ Cast away from yourselves all your ungodliness in which you have sinned against Me; and make to yourselves a new heart and a new spirit: for why should you die, O house of Israel?

²⁵ Therefore, having put off falsehood, "Let each one speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another. ²⁶ "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun set on your anger, ²⁷ nor give opportunity to the devil. ²⁸ Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working that which is good with his hands, in order that he may have something to share with him who has need. ²⁹ Let no corrupt word proceed from your mouth, but only what is good for edification, that it may give grace to them that hear. ³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. ³¹ Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and blasphemy be removed from you, with all malice.

⁸ But now you yourselves are to put off all these: wrath, anger, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

⁵ constant wranglings of men of corrupt minds and having been deprived of the truth, supposing that godliness is a means of profit. Withdraw from such people.

²¹ Therefore laying aside all filthiness and abundance of evil, in meekness receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

²⁶ If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceiving his heart, the religion of this man is useless.

¹ Therefore having put away all malice, all guile, hypocrisy, envy, and all slanders,

¹ I made a covenant with my eyes, and I will not think upon a virgin.

³⁷ Turn away my eyes that I may not behold vanity; revive me in Your way.

⁵ If you should fix your eye upon him, he will disappear; for wings like an eagle's are prepared for him, and he returns to the house of his master.

³³ Whenever your eyes shall behold a strange woman, then your mouth shall speak perverse things.

²² "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.

²³ The steps of a man are rightly ordered by the Lord; and He will take pleasure in his way.

⁵ O that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes.

⁵⁹ I thought on Your ways, and turned my feet to Your testimonies.

³ But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and will guard you from the evil one.

¹³ and make straight paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be turned aside, but rather be healed.

¹⁰ But may the God of all grace, the One having called you into His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, may He Himself make you complete--He will establish, strengthen, and firmly ground you.

³² And you shall take heed to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right or to the left,

³² Every word that I command you this day, you shall observe to do: you shall not add to it, nor diminish from it.

¹⁴ You shall not turn aside from any of the commandments, which I command you this day, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods, to serve them.

⁷ Be strong, therefore, and very courageous, to observe and do as Moses My servant commanded you; and you shall not turn from there to the right hand or to the left, that you may be wise in whatsoever you may do.

¹⁷ The paths of life turn aside from evil, and the ways of righteousness are length of life. He that receives instruction shall be in prosperity, and he that regards reproofs shall be made wise. He that keeps his ways preserves his own soul, and he that loves his life will spare his mouth.

¹⁶ Wash, and be clean; remove your iniquities from your souls before My eyes; cease from your iniquities;

⁹ Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good.
