⁵ until I find a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

¹⁷ And they brought the ark of the Lord, and set it in its place in the midst of the tabernacle which David pitched for it. And David offered whole burnt offerings before the Lord, and peace offerings.

²⁷ But will God indeed dwell with men upon the earth? If the heaven and heaven of heavens will not suffice You, how much less even this house which I have built for Your name?

³ And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the Lord to the place which he had prepared for it.

¹² and said to them, You are the heads of the families of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, and you shall carry up the ark of the God of Israel, to the place which I have prepared for it.

⁷ And David said to Solomon, My child, it was in my heart to build a house to the name of the Lord God.

⁶ And who will be able to build Him a house? For the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain His glory. And who am I, that I should build Him a house, except only to burn incense before Him?

¹ Thus says the Lord: Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool; what kind of a house will you build for Me? And of what kind is to be the place of My rest?

⁴⁶ who found favor before God and asked opportunity to find a dwelling place for the God of Jacob. ⁴⁷ But Solomon built Him a house. ⁴⁸ However, the Most High does not dwell in handmaid sanctuaries, just as the prophet says: ⁴⁹ 'Heaven is My throne, and earth a footstool for My feet. What kind of house will you build for Me? says the LORD, or what is the place of My rest?

²² in whom you also are being built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
