³ For they inherited not the land by their own sword, and their own arm did not deliver them; but Your right hand, and Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You were well pleased with them.

¹⁶ Let trembling and fear fall upon them; by the greatness of Your arm, let them become as stone; till Your people pass over, O Lord, till this Your people pass over, whom You have purchased.

⁸ If the Lord delights in us, He will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which flows with milk and honey.

³⁷ Because He loved your fathers, He also chose you, their seed, after them, and He brought you Himself out of Egypt with His great strength, ³⁸ to destroy nations greater and stronger than you before your face, to bring you in, to give you their land to inherit, as you have this day.

⁷ It is not because you are more numerous than all other nations that the Lord has preferred you, and the Lord has chosen you: for you are fewer in number than all other nations. ⁸ But because the Lord has loved you, and He is keeping the oath which He swore to your fathers; the Lord has brought you out with a strong hand, and the Lord has redeemed you from the house of bondage, out of the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹⁷ Lest you should say in your heart, My strength, and the power of my own hand have worked for me this great wealth! ¹⁸ But you shall remember the Lord your God, that He gives you strength to get wealth; even that He may establish His covenant, which the Lord swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

¹⁵ Only the Lord chose your fathers, to love them, and He chose out their seed after them, even you, beyond all nations, as it is this day.

¹² And He sent forth the hornet before you; and He drove them out from before you, even twelve kings of the Amorites, not with your sword, nor with your bow.

²² For the Lord will not cast off His people for His great name's sake, because the Lord graciously took you to Himself for a people.

⁶ Many say, Who will show us good things? The light of Your countenance, O Lord, has been manifested towards us.

⁷ Show the marvels of Your mercies, You that save them that trust in You.

⁶ Now I know that the Lord has saved His Christ; He shall hear Him from His holy heaven: the salvation of His right hand is mighty.

⁵ Why are you downcast, O my soul? And why do you trouble me? Hope in God; for I will give thanks to Him; He is the salvation of my countenance.

¹² Who led Moses with His right hand, the arm of His glory? He forced the water to separate from before him, to make Himself an everlasting name.

² I have loved you, says the Lord. And you said, How have You loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? Says the Lord: yet I loved Jacob, ³ and hated Esau and laid waste his borders, and made his heritage as dwellings of the wilderness?

¹⁰ And not only this, but also Rebecca having conception from one man, our father Isaac; ¹¹ for the children not yet being born, nor having done anything good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might abide, not of works but of Him who calls, ¹² it was said to her, "The older shall serve the younger." ¹³ As it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." ¹⁴ What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Absolutely not! ¹⁵ For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion."

⁷ But we have this treasure in clay vessels, so that the extraordinary character of the power may be of God and not of us;
