⁴ And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, gilded with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup being filled with abominations and the filthiness of the fornication of the earth.

¹⁷ And you beheld their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which are among them.

²⁴ And there was a conspiracy in the land, and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord removed from before the children of Israel.

² And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord, according to the abominations of the nations which the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

¹¹ which You have given us by the hand of Your servants the prophets, saying, The land, into which you go to inherit it, is a land subject to disturbance by the removal of the people of the nations for their abominations, wherewith they have filled it from one end to the other by their impurity.

³ But the transgressor that sacrifices a calf to Me, is as he that kills a dog; and he that offers fine flour, as one that offers swine's blood; he that gives frankincense for a memorial, is as a blasphemer. Yet they have chosen their own ways, and their soul has delighted in their abominations.

⁷ Babylon has been a golden cup in the Lord's hand, causing all the earth to be drunken. The nations have drunk of her wine; therefore they were shaken.

⁹ ( { θ}) TETH. Her uncleanness is before her feet; she remembered not her last end; she has lowered her boasting tone, there is none to comfort her. Behold, O Lord, my affliction, for the enemy has magnified himself.

³⁰ Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord: Do you pollute yourselves with the iniquities of your fathers, and do you go a-whoring after their abominations,

¹¹ and that it may stand upon the coals, that her brass may be thoroughly heated, and be melted in the midst of her filthiness, and her scum may be consumed,

¹³ Her scum shall become shameful, because you defiled yourself; and what if you shall be purged no more until I have accomplished My wrath?

²⁵ and I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be purged from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, and I will cleanse you.

³⁸ And he shall honor the god of fortresses in his place: and a god whom his fathers knew not he shall honor with gold, and silver, and precious stones, and desirable things.

¹⁰ I found Israel as grapes in the wilderness, and I saw their fathers as an early watchman in a fig tree. They went in to Baal Peor, and were shamefully estranged, and the abominable became as the beloved.

³ Let no one deceive you by any means; for that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is unveiled, the son of perdition, ⁴ who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or every object of worship, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. ⁵ Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? ⁶ And now you know that which is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. ⁷ For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will continue until one arises from out of the midst. ⁸ And then the lawless one will be unveiled, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth, and will destroy by the brightness of His coming, ⁹ whose coming is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and in all deception of unrighteousness among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

⁸ And another, a second angel followed, saying, "Babylon the great has fallen. From the wine of the wrath of her fornication, she has made all the nations to drink."

⁶ Give back to her as also she gave back, and pay back double as also she did, and according to her works. In her cup which she mixed, mix for her a double portion. ⁷ In as many things as she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give to her torment and sorrow; because she says in her heart, 'I sit as queen, and am not a widow, and I shall by no means see sorrow.'

¹² merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, every kind of citron wood, every kind of object of ivory, every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble;

¹⁶ and saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city, she who was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and having been gilded with gold and precious stones and pearls!

² For true and righteous are His judgments, for He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged the blood of His servants shed by her hand."
