¹ The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel. Thus says the Lord, that stretches out the sky, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him. ² Behold, I will make Jerusalem as trembling door posts to all the nations round about, and in Judea there shall be a siege against Jerusalem. ³ And it shall come to pass in that day that I will make Jerusalem a trodden stone to all the nations; everyone that tramples on it shall utterly mock at it, and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it. ⁴ In that day, says the Lord Almighty, I will smite every horse with amazement, and his rider with madness: but I will open My eyes upon the house of Judah, and I will smite all the horses of the nations with blindness. ⁵ And the captains of thousands of Judah shall say in their hearts, We shall find for ourselves the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the Lord Almighty their God. ⁶ In that day I will make the captains of thousands of Judah as a firebrand among wood, and as a torch of fire in stubble; and they shall devour on the right hand and on the left all the nations round about; and Jerusalem shall dwell again by herself, even in Jerusalem. ⁷ And the Lord shall save the tabernacles of Judah as at the beginning, that the boast of the house of David, and the pride of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, may not magnify themselves against Judah. ⁸ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the weak one among them in that day shall be as David, and the house of David as the house of God, as the Angel of the Lord before them. ⁹ And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. ¹⁰ And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and compassion: and they shall look upon Me, because they have mocked Me, and they shall make lamentation for Him, as for a beloved friend, and they shall grieve intensely, as for a firstborn son. ¹¹ In that day the lamentation in Jerusalem shall be very great, as the mourning for the pomegranate grove cut down in the plain. ¹² And the land shall lament in separate families, the family of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves; ¹³ the family of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of Simeon by itself, and their wives by themselves; ¹⁴ all the families that are left, each family by itself, and their wives by themselves.

⁷ And God formed the man of the dust of the earth, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

¹⁵ Then the Angel of the Lord called Abraham the second time out of heaven, saying, ¹⁶ I have sworn by Myself, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and on My account have not spared your beloved son, ¹⁷ surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is by the shore of the sea, and your seed shall inherit the cities of their enemies.

¹⁵ And he blessed them and said, The God in whose sight my fathers were well pleasing, even Abraham and Isaac, the God who continues to feed me from my youth until this day; ¹⁶ the angel who delivers me from all evils, bless these boys, and my name shall be called upon them, and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac; and let them be increased to a great multitude on the earth.

¹⁶ And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their families: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. And the years of the life of Levi were one hundred and thirty-seven. ¹⁷ And these are the sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimi, according to their family. And the sons of Kohath were ¹⁸ Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. And the years of the life of Kohath were one hundred and thirty-three years. ¹⁹ And the sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These are the houses of the families of Levi, according to their families. ²⁰ And Amram took Jochabed for a wife, the daughter of his father's brother, and she bore to him both Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister. And the years of the life of Amram were one hundred and thirty-two years. ²¹ And the sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri. ²² And the sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan, and Zithri. ²³ And Aaron took for himself Elisabeth, daughter of Aminadab sister of Naasson, as a wife, and she bore to him Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. ²⁴ And the sons of Korah were Asir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph. These are the generations of Korah. ²⁵ And Eleazar the son of Aaron took for himself one of the daughters of Putiel as wife, and she bore to him Phinehas. These are the heads of the family of the Levites, according to their generations. ²⁶ This is Aaron and Moses, whom God told to bring out the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt with their forces.

³⁰ And Pharaoh rose up by night, and his servants, and all the Egyptians. And there was a great cry in all the land of Egypt, for there was not a house in which there was not one dead.

²⁰ And behold, I send My angel before your face, that He may keep you in the way, that He may bring you into the land which I have prepared for you. ²¹ Take heed to yourself and hearken to Him, and disobey Him not; for He will not give way to you, for My name is in Him.

¹ And these are the generations of Aaron and Moses, in the day in which the Lord spoke to Moses in Mount Sinai. ² And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn; and Abiud, Eleazar and Ithamar. ³ These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests whom they consecrated to the priesthood. ⁴ And Nadab and Abiud died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the Wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children; and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priests' office with Aaron their father.

²² And they fell on their faces, and said, O God, the God of spirits and of all flesh, if one man has sinned, shall the wrath of the Lord be upon the whole congregation?

²⁸ The Lord shall smite you with insanity, and blindness, and astonishment of mind.

¹³ And it came to pass when Joshua was in Jericho, that he looked up with his eyes and saw a Man standing before him, and there was a drawn sword in His hand. And Joshua drew near and said to Him, Are You for us, or for our enemies? ¹⁴ And He said to him, I have now come, the Commander of the army of the Lord. And Joshua fell on his face upon the earth, and said to Him, O Lord, what do You command Your servant?

⁹ My heart inclines to the orders given in Israel; you that are willing among the people, bless the Lord.

¹⁴ And these are the names of those that were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

² that the king said to Nathan the prophet, Behold now, I live in a house of cedar, and the ark of the Lord dwells in the midst of a tent. ³ And Nathan said to the king, Go and do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you. ⁴ And it came to pass in that night, that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying,

¹ And the Lord sent Nathan the prophet to David; and he went in to him, and said to him, There were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor.

¹⁷ And the woman said, If now the word of my lord the king be gracious,--well: for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king, to hear good and evil; and the Lord your God shall be with you. ¹⁸ And the king answered, and said to the woman, Hide not from me, I pray, the matter which I ask you. And the woman said, Let my lord the king by all means speak. ¹⁹ And the king said, Is not the hand of Joab in all this matter with you? And the woman said to the king, As your soul lives, my lord, O king, there is no turning to the right hand or to the left from all that my lord the king has spoken; for your servant Joab himself charged me, and he put all these words in the mouth of your handmaid. ²⁰ In order that this form of speech might come about it was that your servant Joab has framed this matter; and my lord is wise as is the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.

⁵ And King David came to Bahurim; and behold, there came out from there a man of the family of the house of Saul, and his name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He came forth and cursed as he went,

⁸ But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men of David, did not follow Adonijah.

²⁹ that Your eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place which You said, My name shall be there, to hear the prayer which Your servant prays at this place day and night.

¹⁴ And he sent horses there, and chariots, and a great army. And they came by night, and compassed about the city.

¹⁸ And they came down to him; and he prayed to the Lord, and said, Strike this people, I pray, with blindness. And He struck them with blindness, according to the word of Elisha.

²⁹ And in his days Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt went up against the king of the Assyrians, to the River Euphrates; and Josiah went out to meet him. And Necho killed him in Megiddo when he saw him.

¹⁹ And the sons of Pedaiah were Zerubbabel and Shimei; and the sons of Zerubbabel were Meshullam, Hananiah, and Shelomith was their sister,

²⁷ Shimei had sixteen sons, and six daughters; and his brethren had not many sons, neither did all their families multiply as the sons of Judah.

⁷ And for the family of Gershon, Laadan, and Shimei.

¹⁰ And to the sons of Shimei were Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah: these were the four sons of Shimei.

²⁰ so that Your eyes should be open over this house by day and by night, towards this place, whereon You said that Your name should be called, so as to hear the prayer which Your servant prays towards this house.

⁴⁰ And now, O Lord, I pray, let Your eyes be opened, and Your ears be attentive to the petition made in this place.

¹⁵ And now My eyes shall be open, and My ears attentive to the prayer of this place.

¹⁴ and of the sons of Heman: Jeiel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun: Shemaiah and Uzziel.

²⁴ And his servants lifted him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot which he had, and brought him to Jerusalem. And he died, and was buried with his fathers; and all Judah and Jerusalem lamented over Josiah.

⁶ Let now Your ear be attentive, and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant, which I pray before You at this time, this day both day and night, for the children of Israel Your servants, and make confession for the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against You — both I and the house of my father have sinned.

¹ And the chiefs of the people dwelt in Jerusalem. And the rest of the people cast lots, to bring one of every ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine-tenths in the other cities. ² And the people blessed all the men that volunteered to dwell in Jerusalem. ³ Now these are the chiefs of the province who dwelt in Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah; every man dwelt in his possession in their cities: Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinim, and the children of the servants of Solomon. ⁴ And there dwelt in Jerusalem some of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Judah; Athaiah son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, and some of the sons of Perez; ⁵ and Maaseiah son of Baruch, son of Col-Hozeh, son of Hazaiah, son of Adaiah, son of Joarib, son of Zechariah, son of Shiloni. ⁶ All the sons of Perez who dwelt in Jerusalem were four hundred and sixty-eight men of might. ⁷ And these were the children of Benjamin: Sallu son of Meshullam, son of Joed, son of Pedaiah, son of Kolaiah, son of Maaseiah, son of Ithiel, son of Jeshaiah. ⁸ And after him Gabbai, Sallai, nine hundred and twenty-eight. ⁹ And Joel son of Zichri was overseer over them: and Judah son of Senuah was second in the city. ¹⁰ Of the priests: both Jedaiah son of Joiarib, and Jachin. ¹¹ Seraiah, son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Maraioth, son of Ahitub, was over the house of God. ¹² And their brothers doing the work of the house were eight hundred and twenty-two; and Adaiah son of Jeroham, son of Pelaliah, son of Amzi, son of Zechariah, son of Pashhur, son of Malchijah, ¹³ and his brothers, chiefs of families, two hundred and forty-two: and Amashai son of Azarel, son of Meshillemoth, son of Immer, ¹⁴ and his brothers, mighty men of war, a hundred and twenty-eight: and their overseer was Zabdiel son of one of the great men. ¹⁵ And of the Levites: Shemaiah, son of Hasshub, ¹⁶ (TEXT OMITTED) ¹⁷ Matthaniah son of Micha, and Jobeb son of Samui, ¹⁸ two hundred and eighty-four. ¹⁹ And the porters: Akkub, Talmon, and their brothers, a hundred and seventy-two. ²⁰ (TEXT OMITTED) ²¹ (TEXT OMITTED) ²² And the overseer of the Levites was the son of Bani, son of Uzzi, son of Hashabiah, the son of Micha. ⁵ But alas! For you magnify yourselves against me, and insult me with reproach.

⁷ He stretches out the north wind upon nothing, and He hangs the earth upon nothing;

⁶ But I have been made King by Him on Zion His holy mountain, ⁷ declaring the ordinance of the Lord: the Lord has said to Me, You are My Son, today I have begotten You.

³² It is God that girds me with strength, and has made my way blameless;

³⁹ For You have girded me with strength for war; You have beaten down under me all that rose up against me.

⁶ Now I know that the Lord has saved His Christ; He shall hear Him from His holy heaven: the salvation of His right hand is mighty. ⁷ Some glory in chariots, and some in horses: but we will glory in the name of the Lord our God.

¹⁶ For many dogs have compassed Me; the assembly of the evildoers has enclosed Me; they pierced My hands and My feet. ¹⁷ They counted all My bones; and they observed and looked upon Me.

²⁶ Let them be confounded and ashamed together that rejoice at my afflictions; let them be clothed with shame and confusion that speak great swelling words against me.

¹⁶ For I said, Lest my enemies rejoice against me; for when my feet were moved, they spoke boastfully against me.

⁶ Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; the scepter of Your kingdom is the scepter of righteousness. ⁷ You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness beyond Your companions.

¹ For the end, for the sons of Korah; A Psalm concerning secret things. God is our refuge and strength, a help in the afflictions that have come heavily upon us.

¹² Restore to me the joy of Your salvation; establish me with Your directing Spirit.

¹² For if an enemy had reproached me, I would have endured it; and if one who hated me had spoken vauntingly against me, I would have hid myself from him.

³⁴ Give glory to God: His excellency is over Israel, and His power is in the clouds. ³⁵ God is wonderful in His holy places, the God of Israel; He will give power and strength to His people; blessed be God.

⁸ For there is a cup in the hand of the Lord, full of unmingled wine; and He has turned it from side to side, but its dregs have not been wholly poured out; all the sinners of the earth shall drink them.

⁵ All the simple ones in heart were troubled; all the men of wealth have slept their sleep, and have found nothing in their hands. ⁶ At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, the riders on horses slumbered. ⁷ For You are to be feared; and who shall withstand You, because of Your anger?

⁶ I have said, You are gods; and all of you children of the Most High.

²⁵ In the beginning You, O Lord, laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of Your hands. ²⁶ They shall perish, but You remain; and they all shall grow old like a garment; and as a vesture shall You fold them, and they shall be changed.

² who cover Yourself with light as with a garment; spreading out the heaven as a curtain.

¹ A Psalm of David. The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool. ² The Lord shall send out the rod of Your strength out of Zion; rule in the midst of Your enemies!

¹⁰ All the nations surrounded me; but in the name of the Lord I repulsed them. ¹¹ They completely compassed me about; but in the name of the Lord I repulsed them. ¹² They compassed me about as bees do a honeycomb, and they burst into flame as fire among thorns; but in the name of the Lord I repulsed them. ¹³ I was thrust, and sorely shaken, that I might fall; but the Lord helped me. ¹⁴ The Lord is my strength and my song, and has become my salvation.

⁵ To Him who made the heavens by understanding; for His mercy endures forever. ⁶ To Him who established the earth on the waters; for His mercy endures forever.

¹ A Psalm of David concerning Goliath. Blessed be the Lord my God, who instructs my hands for battle, and my fingers for war.

⁶ The high praises of God shall be in their mouth, and two-edged swords in their hands; ⁷ to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments among the peoples; ⁸ to bind their kings with fetters, and their nobles with manacles of iron; ⁹ to execute on them the judgment written: this honor have all His saints.

²³ Behold, I will bring forth to you the utterance of my breath, and I will instruct you in my speech.

¹² Son, if you are wise for yourself, you shall also be wise for your neighbors; and if you should prove wicked, you alone will bear the evil. ^(9:12A) He that stays himself upon falsehoods, attempts to rule the winds, and the same will pursue birds in their fight: ^(9:12B) for he has forsaken the ways of his own vineyard, and he has caused the axles of his own cart to go astray; ^(9:12C) and he goes through a dry desert, and a land appointed to drought, and he gathers barrenness with his hands.

⁷ before the dust also return to the earth as it was, and the spirit return to God who gave it.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; attend to the law of God, you people of Gomorrah.

²³ Your princes are rebellious, companions of thieves, loving bribes, seeking after rewards; not pleading for orphans, and not heeding the cause of widows.

²⁶ And I will establish your judges as before, and your counselors as at the beginning; and afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful mother city of Zion.

¹¹ For the eyes of the Lord are high, but man is low; and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. ¹² For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon everyone that is proud and haughty, and upon everyone that is high and lifted up, and they shall be brought down; ¹³ and upon every cedar of Lebanon, of them that are high and lifted up, and upon every oak of Bashan, ¹⁴ and upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, ¹⁵ and upon every high tower, and upon every high wall, ¹⁶ and upon every ship of the sea, and upon every display of fine ships. ¹⁷ And every man shall be brought low, and the pride of men shall fall; and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

¹³ And he said, Hear now, O house of David; is it a little thing for you to contend with men? And how do you contend against the Lord? ¹⁴ Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive in the womb, and shall bring forth a son, and you shall call His name Emmanuel.

⁶ For a Child is born to us, and a Son is given to us, whose government is upon His shoulder; and His name is called the Messenger of great counsel; for I will bring peace upon the princes, and health to Him. ⁷ His government shall be great, and of His peace there is no end; it shall be upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to establish it, and to support it with judgment and with righteousness, from this time forward and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts shall perform this.

²⁰ But one shall turn aside to the right hand, for he shall be hungry; and shall eat on the left, and a man shall by no means be satisfied with eating the flesh of his own arm.

¹⁶ but the Lord of hosts shall send dishonor upon your honor, and burning fire shall be kindled upon your glory. ¹⁷ And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and He shall sanctify him with burning fire, and it shall devour the wood as grass. ¹⁸ In that day the mountains shall be consumed, and the hills, and the forests, and fire shall devour both soul and body; and he that flees shall be as one fleeing from a burning flame.

⁹ The Lord of hosts has purposed to bring down all the pride of the glorious ones, and to disgrace every glorious thing on the earth.

²¹ And God shall bring His hand upon the host of heaven, and upon the kings of the earth.

⁶ They shall be left in the spirit of judgment for judgment, and for the strength of them that hinder slaying.

¹⁰ For the Lord has made you to drink a spirit of deep sleep; and He shall close their eyes, and the eyes of their prophets and of their rulers, who see secret things.

²⁶ And the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold in the day when the Lord shall heal the breach of His people, and shall heal the pain of your wound.

¹ For behold, a righteous king shall reign, and princes shall govern with judgment.

¹⁵ until the Spirit shall come upon you from on high, and Carmel shall be desert, and Carmel shall be counted for a forest.

¹⁷ Incline Your ear, O Lord, hearken, O Lord; open Your eyes, O Lord, look, O Lord; and behold the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God.

¹² Who has measured the water in His hand, and the heaven with a span, and all the earth in a handful? Who has weighed the mountains in scales, and the forests in a balance?

²² It is He that comprehends the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants in it are as grasshoppers; He that set up the heaven as a chamber, and stretched it out as a tent to dwell in;

¹⁰ Fear not; for I am with you; wander not; for I am your God, who has strengthened you; and I have helped you, and have established you with My righteous right hand. ¹¹ Behold, all your adversaries shall be ashamed and confounded; for they shall be as if they were not; and all your opponents shall perish. ¹² You shall seek them, and you shall not find the men who shall insolently rage against you; for they shall be as if they were not, and they that war against you shall not be. ¹³ For I am your God, who holds your right hand, who says to you, ¹⁴ Fear not, Jacob, and you Israel few in number; I have helped you, says your God, He that redeems you, O Israel. ¹⁵ Behold, I have made you as new saw-shaped threshing wheels of a wagon; and you shall thresh the mountains, and beat the hills to powder, and make them as chaff; ¹⁶ and you shall winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and a tempest shall scatter them; but you shall rejoice in the holy ones of Israel.

⁵ Thus says the Lord God, who made the heaven, and established it; who settled the earth, and the things in it, and gives breath to the people in it, and spirit to them that tread on it;

³ For I will give water to the thirsty that walk in a dry land; I will put My Spirit upon your seed, and My blessings upon your children; ⁴ and they shall spring up as grass between brooks, and as willows on the banks of running water.

²⁴ Thus says the Lord that redeems you, and who formed you from the womb: I am the Lord that performs all things; I stretched out the heaven alone, and established the earth.

¹² I have made the earth, and man upon it; with My hand I have established the heavens; I have given commandment to all the stars.

¹⁸ Thus says the Lord that made the heaven, this God that created the earth, and made it; He marked it out, He made it not in vain, but formed it to be inhabited; I am the Lord, and there is no other.

¹³ My hand also has founded the earth, and My right hand has fixed the sky; I will call them, and they shall stand together.

⁷ Thus says the Lord that delivered you, the God of Israel, Sanctify him that despises his life, him that is abhorred by the nations that are the servants of princes; kings shall behold him, and princes shall arise, and shall worship him, for the Lord's sake; for the Holy One of Israel is faithful, and I have chosen you.

¹³ And you have forgotten God who made you, who made the sky and founded the earth; and you were continually afraid because of the wrath of him that afflicted you; for whereas he counseled to take you away, yet now where is the wrath of him that afflicted you?

¹⁷ Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, that have drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of His fury; for you have drunk out and drained the cup of calamity, the cup of wrath;

²² thus says the Lord God that judges His people: Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of calamity, the cup of My wrath; and you shall not drink it anymore. ²³ And I will give it into the hands of them that injured you, and them that afflicted you; who said to your soul, Bow down, that we may pass over; and you laid your body to the ground to them passing by outside.

³ But His form was ignoble, and inferior to that of the children of men; He was a man in suffering, and acquainted with the bearing of sickness, for His face has turned from us; He was dishonored, and not esteemed.

³ spread forth your tent yet to the right and the left; for your seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and you shall make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

¹⁷ I will not allow any weapon formed against you to prosper; and every voice that shall rise up against you for judgment, you shall vanquish them all; and your adversaries shall be condemned thereby. There is an inheritance to them that serve the Lord, and you shall be righteous before Me, says the Lord.

¹⁶ I will not take vengeance on you forever, neither will I be always angry with you; for My Spirit shall go forth from Me, and I have created all breath.

¹⁹ So shall they of the west fear the name of the Lord, and they that come from the rising of the sun shall fear His glorious name; for the wrath of the Lord shall come as a mighty river, it shall come with fury. ²⁰ And the deliverer shall come for Zion's sake, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. ²¹ And this shall be My covenant with them, said the Lord; My Spirit which is upon you, and the words which I have put in your mouth, shall never fail from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your seed, for the Lord has spoken it, henceforth and forever!

¹² For the nations and the kings which will not serve you shall perish; and those nations shall be made utterly desolate.

⁶ In that day I will make the captains of thousands of Judah as a firebrand among wood, and as a torch of fire in stubble; and they shall devour on the right hand and on the left all the nations round about; and Jerusalem shall dwell again by herself, even in Jerusalem.
