¹⁷ Hence I am saying that I shall bring you up from the humiliation of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, to a land gushing with milk and honey.

⁵ It will come to be when Yahweh your Elohim shall have brought you to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Hivite and the Jebusite about which He swore to your fathers to give to you, a land gushing with milk and honey, then you will serve with this service in this month.

²⁸ I will send the hornet before you, and it will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite and the Hittite from before you.

² And I will send before you My messenger. I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite.

¹¹ Observe for yourself what I am instructing you today. Behold Me driving out from your presence the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite.

²¹ Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorite with words of peace, saying. ²² Let me pass through your land. We shall not turn aside into field or into vineyard. We shall not drink water of any well. By the king's road shall we go until we cross over your boundary. ²³ Yet Sihon would not allow Israel to cross over at his boundary. Sihon gathered all his people and went forth to meet Israel toward the wilderness. He came to Jahaz and fought against Israel. ²⁴ Yet Israel smote him with the edge of the sword and tenanted his land from the Arnon as far as the Jabbok, as far as the sons of Ammon, for the boundary of the sons of Ammon was Jazer. ²⁵ Israel took all these cities. Israel also dwelt in all the cities of the Amorite, in Heshbon and in all its outskirts, ²⁶ for Heshbon, it was a city of Sihon king of the Amorite. He had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon. ²⁷ Therefore those discoursers say:Come to Heshbon, let it be rebuilt, and let the city of Sihon establish itself. ²⁸ For a fire came forth from Heshbon, a blaze from the town of Sihon. It devoured Ar of Moab, the possessors of the fane heights of Arnon. ²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! You have perished, people of Chemosh! He gave up his sons delivered from slaughter, and his daughters into captivity to Sihon, king of the Amorite. ³⁰ We shot them; Heshbon perished as far as Dibon; we caused desolation until the fire was blown as far as Medeba. ³¹ When Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorite, ³² Moses sent men to spy out Jazer. They seized its outskirts and evicted the Amorite who was there.

⁴ Moab said to the elders of Midian:Now this assembly shall lick up all around us like a bull licks up the green grass of the field. So Balak son of Zippor who was king of Moab at that time ⁵ sent messengers to Balaam son of Beor at Pethor (which is on the Stream in the land of the sons of his people) to call for him, saying:Behold, a people has come forth from Egypt. Behold, they cover the eye of the land, and they are dwelling at my forefront. ⁶ Now come, I pray, curse this people for me, for they are more substantial than I. Perhaps I shall prevail, so that we may smite them and I may drive them out from the land, for I know that whomever you bless is being blessed and whomever you curse is accursed. ⁷ The elders of Moab and the elders of Midian went with the pay for divinations in their hands. They came to Balaam and spoke to him the words of Balak.

⁷ He took up his discourse and said:From Syria Balak gave me guidance, the king of Moab from the mountains of the east:Come now and curse Jacob for me! And come now and menace Israel.

¹⁷ I see him yet not now, I regard him yet not near. A star will tread forth from Jacob; a scepter will arise from Israel, and he will transfix both edges of Moab, and the scalp of all the sons of tumult. ¹⁸ Edom will become a tenancy, even Seir will become a tenancy of its enemies; yet Israel will do ably. ¹⁹ One from Jacob shall hold sway, and will destroy the survivors of the city.

¹ When Yahweh your Elohim brings you into the land where you are about to enter in order to tenant it, and He eases many nations out before your face, the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, seven nations more numerous and substantial than you,

¹⁷ for you shall doom, yea doom them, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Girgashite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, just as Yahweh your Elohim had instructed you,

¹⁰ and Joshua said, `By this you know that the living El [is] in your midst, and He does certainly dispossess from before you the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite.

¹⁵ and if wrong in your eyes to serve Yahweh--choose for you to-day whom you do serve; --whether the elohims whom your fathers served, which [are] beyond the River, or the elohims of the Amorite in whose land you are dwelling; and I and my house--we serve Yahweh..

²¹ And the Jebusite, inhabiting Jerusalem, the sons of Benjamin have not dispossessed; and the Jebusite dwells with the sons of Benjamin, in Jerusalem, till this day.

¹¹ Now three associates of Job heard about all this evil coming on him, and they set out, each one from his place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite. They appointed a time together to come and condole with him and comfort him.

⁴ He will send arrows of the masterful, whetted With glowing embers of broom!"

⁵ Dusky am I, yet comely, O daughters of Jerusalem, Like the tents of Kedar, Like the sheets of Solomon."

¹¹ And it comes, in that day, Yahweh will proceed to lift up His hand, to be zealous for the remnant of His people which will remain, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Babylon, and from Pathros, and from Ethiopia, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from Arabia, and from the coastlands of the sea."

¹² More precious am I making the remaining mortal than glittering gold. And a human than certified African gold.

² a hard vision is told to me; the treacherous one is treacherous, and the devastator is devastating. Against me is Elam! And against me the agents of Media are coming! Now all sighing through it I cause to cease."

¹¹ LOAD OF DUME For me is a call from the gate, "Guard! What of the night? Guard! What of the night, guard of the rampart?

¹³ LOAD IN ARABIA In the wildwood, in Arabia, you are lodging, caravans of Dedanites."

¹⁷ and the remaining number of bowmen, masters of the sons of Kedar, shall be few, for Yahweh, the Elohim of Israel, speaks."

⁶ And Elam lifts up the quiver with the charioteer, and horsemen, and Kir makes naked the shield."

¹ LOAD OF TYRE Howl! Ships of Tharshish. For it is devastated of house and entry. They come no longer from the land of Kittim. A deportation has arrived also to them.

¹² And saying is He, "No longer shall you continue to be joyous, extorted virgin daughter of Sidon. To Kittim! Arise! Pass! Even there, there is no stopping for you."

⁶ The sword of Yahweh will be full of blood. It lubricates itself from the fat of lambs, and from the blood of butting rams and he-goats, from the fat of kidneys of rams. For there shall be a sacrifice to Yahweh in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom."

⁹ For this is the waters of Noah to Me. As I swore off from passing the waters of Noah again over the earth, so I swore off from wrath over you further and from rebuking you." ¹⁰ For the mountains shall remove, and the hills shall slip, yet My kindness from you shall not remove, and the covenant of My welfare shall not slip, says your Compassionate One, Yahweh."

⁶ An accumulation of camels shall cover you, dromedaries of Midian and Ephah, all those from Sheba shall come. Gold and frankincense and precious stones shall they carry, and of the praises of Yahweh shall they bear tidings." ⁷ All the flocks of Kedar shall be convened to you, and the rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you. They shall ascend with acceptance on My altar, and My house of prayer will I beautify."

¹ Who is This, coming from humanity, with fermented garments from the vintage? This One, in His clothing of honor, marching in the vastness of His vigor?I, speaking in righteousness, and contending to save!"

¹⁹ And I place among them a sign, and I send, from those delivered, to the nations, to Tharshish and Pul and Lud and Meshech and Quesheth, Tubal and Javan, and the coastlands afar, who have not heard of My fame, nor have seen My glory. And they tell of My glory, among the nations."

¹⁰ For, pass to the isles of Chittim, and see, And to Kedar send, and consider well, And see if there has been like this:"

²³ Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, And all cutting the corners [of the beard],

²⁵ And all the kings of Zimri, And all the kings of Elam, And all the kings of Media,

⁴ Because of the day that has come to spoil all the Philistines, To cut off to Tyre and to Zidon every helping remnant. For Yahweh is spoiling the Philistines, The remnant of the isle of Caphtor."

⁷ Concerning Edom:`Thus said Yahweh of Hosts:Is wisdom no more in Teman? Perished has counsel from the intelligent? Vanished has their wisdom? ⁸ Flee, turn, go deep to dwell, you inhabitants of Dedan, For the calamity of Esau I brought in upon him, The time I inspected him."

¹³ For, by Myself, I have sworn, An affirmation of Yahweh, That for a desolation, for a reproach, For a waste, and for a reviling--is Bozrah, And all her cities are for wastes eonian."

²⁰ Therefore, hear you the counsel of Yahweh, That He has counselled concerning Edom, And His devices that He has devised Concerning the inhabitants of Teman:Drag them out do not little ones of the flock, Make desolate over them does he not their habitation?

²¹ Be elated and rejoice, daughter of Edom, you who are dwelling in the country of Uz; To you also shall pass the cup of Yahweh; you shall become drunk and denude yourself."

¹⁴ and these three men have been in its midst, Noah, Daniel, and Job--they by their righteousness deliver their own soul--an affirmation of the Lord Yahweh."

³⁰ For there come against him boats of Chittim. Hence he is sore when he returns. He menaces the holy covenant and makes his opposition effective. While he returns, he has an understanding with those who forsake the holy covenant:"

³ Assyria will not save us; we will not ride on the horse. Nor shall we still say, Our elohim, to the work of our hands. For in You, the orphan is being shown compassion."

¹² I will send a fire into Teman, and it shall devour the citadels of Bozrah."

⁹ Yet I exterminated the Amorite from your faces, whose loftiness was as the loftiness of cedars, and safeguarded was he as the oaks. I am exterminating his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath."

⁷ Are you not as sons of Ethiopians to Me, O sons of Israel? (averring is Yahweh); Did not I bring up Israel from the land of Egypt? And the Philistines from Caphtor? And Syria from Kir?

⁹ Your masters, Teman, shall be dismayed, that each man may be cut off from mount Esau by being despatched."

¹² Verily I will gather Jacob--all of you together. Verily I will convene the remnant of Israel. Together will I place them as a flock in distress, as a drove in the midst of the plague; they will clamor because of humanity."

²⁶ And according as it occurred in the days of Noah, thus will it be in the days of the Son of Mankind also."

⁸ And He gives him the covenant of circumcision. And thus he begets Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day, and Isaac Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs."

⁵ By faith Enoch was transferred, so as not to be acquainted with death, and was not found, because God transfers him. For before his transference he is attested to have pleased God well."

⁷ By faith Noah, being apprized concerning that which is not as yet being observed, being pious, constructs an ark for the salvation of his house, through which he condemns the world, and became an enjoyer of the allotment of the righteousness which accords with faith."

⁵ and spares not the ancient world, but guards Noah, an eighth, a herald of righteousness, bringing a deluge on the world of the irreverent;"
